What was the Bank Job about? Is it a recent movie? I don't recall seeing any previews for it.

It's been out for a couple of week, but the buzz has given it decent staying power. It's a British Movie with Jason Stathan about, well, a Bank Job, but pulled off by non-pro's. Based on a true story.

I saw The Bank Job a couple weeks ago and was thoroughly impressed by the whole thing.  It was just a really solid piece of work.  And very smart.

I saw There Will Be Blood this last weekend and thought it blew No Country out of the water, DD-L was absolutely amazing and everything about it was wonderful (the score, the cinematography, the casting etc etc etc)

My biggest complaint about No Country was that it is basically a retelling of the Fargo story IMO and while I get the ending, I didn't really care for it all that much.  TWBB was just a lot more interesting story (that's the engineer in me) better script and just a lot more memorable across the board

Just watched In the Valley of Elah and The King over the weekend. Elah was very good, and Tommy Lee Jones does an excellent job. It was also pretty disturbing knowing that it was based on a true story. The King was a bit disappointing in that I thought the character development was really lacking. I sorta knew where it was going from the start.

Another weekend, another two movies.

First up was Into the Wild. I don't have enough good things to say about this one. I could relate to the main character, and all the supporting cast was great. I'd never really noticed Emile Hirsch before, but he did an excellent job.

Completing the recent Josh Brolin trifecta (No Country... and Valley of Elah, being the other two), I watched American Gangster. Fairly predictable, but totally enjoyable, nonetheless. Denzel and Crowe are worth the price of admission rental, alone.

Both movies were nearly 2.5 hours long, but I didn't notice one bit.

We watched Into the Wild a month ago and I read the book this last Fall and I feel the same about both. Homeslice was a selfish bastard and I really felt no empathy for him at all. I get the whole drop out of society deal, I have two good friends from High School who basically did that and still are more or less hermits. I get the whole head west and see the world and live life (as I felt the draw a couple of times myself heading out to Montana, Washington, Oregon, California etc) . But I don't get the trying to conquer Mother Nature deal at all...or not caring about anyone other than your self. His family, his friends, people he met along the way

The scenery was great and Penn stuck to the story it just didn't get much empathy from me

Wait til Speed Racer hits.

It's shaping up to be the worst movie of all time.

Too bad for Emile, he had a nice run of movies there...

The buzz I've read on Speed Racer has been almost entirely positive.  Where are you reading differently?

Just watched I Am Legend the other night. Really entertaining. For some reason, though, this movie just freaked me out. I was jumping at every little thing. It was getting so bad that when he and the dog went into the dark warehouse, I was actually turning away. And I never do that. Then I read about how the director kept a lot of the scenes silent, and I think this may have made many of the scenes much more intense for me.

In the queue for this weekend are Romulus, My Father and Shopgirl. I'll definitely be watching Romulus, but may not get to Shopgirl until later.

I agree with you that the ****** up the Matrix sequels (should have stopped after 1), but the trailers look a lot like the cartoon. So it can't be that bad. Will know more on Saturday after I see it.
I have been told to go to hell; well at least I will know everyone there!

I know a few people who've seen Speed Racer already and say it's just plain good, which was a surprise to them and me.

I saw Iorn Man Yesterday. Very entertaining and everyone MUST stay through the credits for a hint to the sequel.
