Gosh darn Star Cases!

I want to see new figures, open your toys people.   :)

 :P

I do! But I still keep a complete set of everything locked in plastic hell!  ;D

For me, I would say that 33% of the collecting experience is the hunt. 33% is having a complete (for a moment) collection and the final 33% is getting that second set to open, play with a little, and display.

In my wildest dreams I could buy 15 boosters and get all the super rares.   :P  But that won't happen as I've gotten 3 General Grievious.   ???

Yeah - I know - the super rare I've gotten the most of is a tie between Chewbacca and Commander Gree - I've gotten three of each of them. I've also gotten two Anakins, two Obi-Wans, two Shaak Tis, two Darth Vaders and two Nute Gunrays...

grrrr.....

Still don't have a Yoda though!

I'm reading the book right now and I have to say that I am totally looking forward to this movie. Even more so than I was looking forward to AOTC. I read the book for that before I saw that one as well.

I do still go on daily toy runs into stores going to and coming from work - still hoping to find figures #37 - #40! If I could just find those four figures twice over, I could really take a break for a while since I've found just about everything else that's been released.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Eopie - ROTS style

I too have longed for this beast of burden to be re-packed/re-released in some form or another.

I was only able to pick up one of these on eBay and I paid roughly $45 for it - for my MOC/MIB collection I can justify such an expense. For my opened set of stuff - I unfortunately can not. So in order for me to get an opened Eopie, Hasbro is going to have to re-issue it.

Personally, I think a beast set with an Eopie, Obi-Wan in robe and a baby Luke is a NO BRAINER.

Hmmm... I don't see the line dying in 2008.  But, that's an argument for a different thread.   ;)

Good analogy by the way about the Slave Leia.

 :P

I don't either - all I was trying to do was establish the same time between the death of the vintage line and the current line and the future "death" of the modern/current line and the birth of the third toy line. That's all...

Personally, much to my wife's dismay, I can see this line surviving AT LEAST another five to six years - especially if a TV series comes and lasts.

Target did some mild restocking this weekend, so I picked up another #6 Clonetrooper (first one I've seen at the "Big 3" of Target/WM/TRU since 4/2), and also got the final cup set I was missing, the Grievous one.  Target had two of this one, but none of the others.  I don't know if it is the same in other areas, but Target seems to be the only one of the big retail places that is moving their ROTS product with any regularity.  I'm sure some stuff sells at Wal-Mart too, but with as much product as they have in, and the general chaos of their toy/figure section, it doesn't look like anything moves.  TRU looks about the same to me as it did on 4/2 :).

Agreed - Target is having the best success when it comes to turn-over - at least in my neck of the woods as well.

Walmart's stock is depleting but they aren't putting anything new out either.

TRU on the other hand looks just like it did when the doors opened at midnight except for the hard-to-find stuff. I see the biggest reason for this is that, in my area at least, the stores got allocated ONLY Collection 1, Wave 1 and Collection 2, Wave 1 - so they have tons and tons of figures #1 - #24 AND THAT IS IT!

At this point, collectors don't need those figures and kids really haven't started to buy yet since the movie isn't out yet. This is the only thing TRU has going for it - come May 19th they'll still have a Darth Vader, Anakin, Obi-Wan, R2, C-3PO, Emperor, Clonetrooper and Padme. At the rate of product decay at WalMart and Target - they will not.

Are you sure about the price? $9.99 for 5 figures is a great deal...

I thought these were going to be the next generation of those four-figure sets that used to be at TRU, but I think those are the battle-sets that are supposed to come out later this summer - ie Jedi vs. Sith, Jedi vs. CIS, Empire vs. Rebels...

It would be great if these were army builders!

Do any of you guys know if TRUs are selling the Yodas by itself?

If you can still find one at your local TRU, yes they should be willing to simply sell it to you for $9.99.

One TRU near me just put them all in a bin and let you buy them OR get them for free with a $25 purchase. In sharp contrast another store near me kept them all behind the customer service counter and only let you have one if you were going to purchase $30 worth of stuff. However, last Friday they finally decided "screw it" and put what they had left on a single peg. They didn't last long there.

if anyone could score me a CIII Vader (or two) I would be grateful - I would even be willing to send someone enough money to buy extra day passes for two days while they are at CIII - I'm pretty sure that should entitle you another Vader each day...

I also have an extra Lava Vader and a couple extra Holo Yodas in case anyone who's going to CIII still needs either of those (although I doubt it).

Thanks.

I think it's more morbid because she's actually supposed to be dead

But yep, I'd buy it.

You know how back during the Vintage Line (if you were a kid back then) - you always wondered WHY they didn't put out a slave Leia figure?

Well - I think that dead Padme in casket will be the PT's "Slave Leia" figure - the version of the main female character that will NEVER get made during this run. I think at the time, the idea of a skimpy metal bikini on a female action figure was too much for the early 80s society to handle - flash forward 10 years and it was a-ok.

Now when the line dies in 2008 and then starts up again in 2019 because Jett Lucas is taking the SW mantle from his senile father and making EPs 7, 8 and 9, I could see the new toy company hyping the "Casket" Padme as a NEVER BEEN MADE figure just like they did with Slave Leia and Grand Moff Tarkin when POTF2 came out. Perhaps the society of the future will not mind the idea of their children playing with action figures of dead women!  ::)

Successfully traded some attacktix with Jay - great guy - very understanding with regards to how long it took to finally get my butt to a post office.

Stuff arrived well packed and EXTREMELY fast!

Anyone have an idea on the ratio to get chromes?

Well - I was able to purchase them as a case - six booster packs in the larger box.

From the three cases that yielded six chrome variants. However, I ended up with two Chrome Battledroids and two Chrome Clone Lieutenants.  :(

Anyway - so my rough estimate of them is roughly 2 chrome figures per un-touched case.

Cool - glad to see that the Obi Wan one is out.  I'm gonna get two of those sets... I think the Magna Guard in that sets looks awesome... got any pics?

 :P

This week has been kicking my ass every which way - where I got these was the only store I hit today - which is ODD for me and the only reason I stopped there was because I was already heading to work late (had to bring my wife to the airport this morning), the store was open, the Hasbro rep was there and it's on the direct path to where I work - 5 minutes detour in TRU wouldn't hurt...

If I have time tonight, I'll snap some pics and post 'em, otherwise it might not be until tomorrow...

Found the Obi-Wan vs. MagnaGuard Battle Arena this morning at TRU - so now I can rest easy since I have all three.

Kinda like the bodyguard fig in this set better than the individually carded one - the Obi-Wan ain't half bad either - too bad he's a pre-posed statue figure....

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Target Figure with Cup Sets
« on: April 13, 2005, 07:46 AM »
I have seen these at my local Targets again (post MM) - I didn't need them since I got two complete sets on the 2nd. I think these (like the Lava Reflection Vader) will be shipping to Target for a while yet. Anything that is on their planogram until July (which the cups are), indicates that Target anticipates the item to be a regularly replenished product throughout the next couple of months...
