Star Wars Action Figures / Re: EU Female Clone Commander in battle

Shouldn't the lower half the breast be covered with armor too? It looks incomplete that way.

LOL, it is, that's just suppose to be reflection from the burning ground....this is my first ever digital painting.  oh well, I guess I wasn't successful in communicating that... :-\
Great thing about working digital...changes take NO effort at all!  ;D

Star Wars Action Figures / EU FEMALE CLONE TROOPER-UPDATED 9/27
« on: September 20, 2005, 02:59 AM »
*this has also been posted at the fan art section, i wanted to post here too in case some don't visit that section.  mods, please delete if redundant.*

I've been going crazy and loving this new WACOM tablet that I just got  !!!
Somebody at the censorship-prone RS boards requested that I do a female Clone Trooper Commando done up like Cody's commandos (the previously named Fox character).  Though his particular request is still being designed to his taste, I decided to render up one of my initial designs in Photoshop.

I'm Filipino, though I've lived in the States for 22 years.

Very cool. I like the headgear, it looks cool. How's the big antenna work. For me I'd take it off, but it's just me.

yeah, I guess all the antennae are a bit over-done.  maybe it's hard to see, but the big one is attached to a backpack, so it's not really part of his armor, though when bent forward, there's a clasp on the padding on his right shoulder that keeps it in place.  it's just a visual cue that ties it in to older style field radio/communication devices, really.

OoO. Ok. Now I see. I thoguht it was apart of his armor.

Is your name in reference to the Filipino sandwich thing called shopao???

This looks very nice. the antenna(s) look very cool as is the POTJ Zutton-esque ankle holster. I would assume this is a utapua clone?

Well, no specific designation, really.  I was just trying out a different pattern for his armor.

BTW where did you get that pda arm thingamabob?

It's from a G.I. Joe toy, isn't it?  Mainframe, a character from the Valor vs. Venom line, I believe.

Looking good so far, my only comment pertains to the antenna on his helmet.  To me, it sort of looks like an early '90's cell phone.  I like the design of the helmet, but I think the antenna should be shifted somewhat.  Still, that's probably just me  ;)
I can't wait to see this guy colored up  8)

i see what you mean, it's that pill shaped thing at the tip.  thanks for the observation!

I like it.  Very nice work, except my dirty little mind looks at that big antenna on his right shoulder and sees phallus.  But that's probably just me.

interesting... :o

Star Wars Action Figures / Comm. clone roughs
« on: September 15, 2005, 08:00 PM »
So I've finally had some free time to rough this guy up.  Basically most of the unique details are found on his upper body, new head gear, back pack w/ articulated main antenna, left shoulder with comprehensive antenna aray, and a random tech thing on his right shoulder.  Anybody have any comments?

Nice Looking inserts JFC. Welcome to JD. :)

Most of us around here keep our customs loose and those of us who do card make our own. So I wouldn't expect a whole lot of requests.

...OR you can get custom-made illustrations for card inserts from me ;D

when do you think you will be doing another clone and what type will it be?

Next one is a Commuications Clonetrooper ;D!  I should have that done sometime this week...

Nice Spec Ops Clone!  I like his ninja vibe.  You are an amazing artist, I always look forward to your updates!  Keep 'em coming!
I also can't believe how quickly you colored that clone.  Are you a professional illustrator?

Have you done any "scenes" - like a BARC Trooper zipping through the forest on his speeder or a Close Combat Clone wailing on a battledroid?  I would love to see your take on those scenes!

Hey, thanks for the good words!  I'm not really a professional illustrator... I actually design shoes for a living :P.  Eventually, I'd like to get into Production design.  I'd love to do scenes, I guess I just haven't found too much time to do so, and frankly, I have too many Clone ideas running around in my head.  I'm getting a WACOM tablet this coming week, which should enable me to do my renderings directly into Photoshop (it's what all the pre-visuals guys use for movie pre-production for digital painting), so once I get used to that, it should speed things up a bit... up to this point, most of what I do is 90% by hand, with a bit of Photoshop enchancing afterward.
