The Legacy Collection / Re: Wal Mart Droid Factory Sets
« on: February 16, 2008, 06:37 PM »
Sorry for confusing Scotty earlier...

What I was trying to tell him is that these are the Wal-Mart equilvent of the Order 66 packs.  Exclusive, 2 figures, collector packaging, etc.  Basicaly Wal-Mart saw reaction to the Order 66 sets and wanted something, this is what they got.

Line-up for the Wal-Mart sets =

Vader and K-3PX (black C-3PX essentially)
Plo Koon and R4-F5
X-Wing Luke and Battle Damaged R2 (easily the best one)
Kit Fisto and R4-H5
Watto and R2-T0
Hoth Han (Hood-Up) and new R-3P0

Like others have said, buy all 6 sets and you get the parts for C-3PX hunter protocol droid...

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: 2008 Clone Wars Preview Figure?
« on: February 16, 2008, 06:32 PM »
Rex will be available in two forms -

Preview Figure = "Clean" version on a "premium" card.  The card has a fold-down back, similar to the EU cards from back in the day.

Basic Figure = "Dirty/Battle Damage" version on the standard Clone Wars card found in Wave 1.

Ahsoka and the Hutt were not shown.

Just the first wave was shown - Anakin, Obi-Wan, R2, Rex, Yoda, Grievous, Battle Droid, Clone Trooper.

The Legacy Collection / Re: TOY FAIR 2008/Tatooine Pics!
« on: February 16, 2008, 06:17 PM »
I'm pulling pics off my camera as I type this... fun times and lots of good stuff to come.

Some text stuff...

- After TFU, the 30AC line ends and will be replaced with the new The Legacy Collection in July.

- Yes, there is a gap for the basic figures from March to July, but it will be filled with lots of stuff - Target Order 66 sets and plenty of other exclusives for you to buy to fill your time...

- The Legacy card have a Stormtrooper head akin to the Clone Helmet on the Clone WArs cards - very cool.

- By Christmas, there will be a third line... Legacy Legends (aka the repacks).  Mainly stuff that "compliments" the Clone Wars theme.  All reissues of the old stuff/characters that kids might see in the cartoon - think Jedi and/or droids and clones and stuff.

- The GH Dewback and Rancor are fantastic (no pics to share though :().

Watch for more soon!

Is that first one a Terminator?   ???

I must have missed his cameo in a Star Wars movie...   :D

So is this going to be incorporated into the "Classic" line of figures that is supposed to parallel the Clone Wars line?

It certainly sounds like this is going to be what's been informally referred to as the Saga line.

Yeah, this is what Hasbro was talking about a few weeks ago when they said that the "old" Clone Wars cartoon wave was "picked up and moved to the new Fall basic figure line".  The "30AC" line ends with the TFU wave and then this "Droid Factory" line starts up after that, though there is no word on what the card will look like.

Like Nick was saying, Hasbro has indicated that the "Droid Factory" line will take over the 30AC pegs and the "Clone Wars" line will take over the TSC/Legends pegs.

On one hand, I look at the price increase like this - if you buy all 30 "droid factory" figures, you get the pieces for 7 unique droids.  By my count, that's $240 bucks (30 x $8) to get 37 figures, which works out to about $6.50 each (plus tax of course).

Not that different from what we are paying now for the 30AC stuff, so I am fine with it (especially if a few of the figures still have a larger pack-ins, like Ak-Rev with the drum and what-not).  That's just me though.  If you don't buy them all and you are not into the 7 bonus figures/droids, I can see why the increase would bother you.

On the other hand, for the Clone Wars figures (with no announced pack-ins yet), it's a harder pill to swallow at $8 each...  I still have to decide where I'm going with that line.  :-\

Kubricks / Re: Series 9
« on: February 12, 2008, 04:58 PM »
Just an FYI that I had to change the potential price ranges listed above.  I was going a little fast this AM and I grabbed the wrong numbers...  :-[

Originally, I had listed the price range that we saw for Series 6/7:
   1) Master Case  ~$305-$325
   2) Box of 12  ~$80-$85
   3) Set of 6  ~$45-$50

But, based on the info from the Series 8 pre-order price at Robby, the cost will most likely be 8-10% higher than Series 6/7 were.  The new price ranges listed below reflect the increase...   :-\

The approximate price range for Series 8/9:
   1) Master Case  ~$325-$350
   2) Box of 12  ~$85-$90
   3) Set of 6  ~$50-$55

There are a number of factors that play into this increase (7.5% higher wholesale price, higher shipping rates, weaker USD vs. JPY).

Once again, these are just ranges.  I won't know the exact cost until they ship.  Sorry for any disappointment, just trying to give everyone a realistic expectation on the cost. Better to know now than to be surprised with it later when they ship...   :(

Hasbro said 2009 on Willrow Hood

Hmmm... I wonder if anyone asked for a "Willrow 2009 update" in the batch of questions that were sent to Hasbro last week?

We'll find out next week I guess.    :D

Kubricks / Re: Series 9

shouldn't you have heard something from Robby.jp by now?

Like Brent already said, nothing from Robby yet.

One thing I've learned while collecting these little buggers is that there is no rhyme or reason to the announcements and when they go up for sale.  Robby used to be a lot faster, but they did have some turn-over in the webstaff a while back.  Things seem to run slower now than they used to run. :-\

And on that note...

I've had a lot of stuff going on this month so I was hoping to put this off until after Toy Fair, but since I've recieved so many e-mails/PMs, I'll just start it now: Jeff's Kubrick Star Wars Series 9 Mega-Order!

- First off, there are no guarantees.  Until I put in the order with Robby (and even after the order goes in), there is always a small chance that we won't get enough to cover everyone's wants.  So far though (Series 4-7), we've always been able to help everyone who has asked for help.

- All I will take "pre-orders" for right now is
   1) Master Cases (4 boxes of 12, 100% chance of at least 1 chase figure)
   2) Boxes of 12 (approx. 50% chance of at least 1 chase figure)
   3) Basic Set of 6 (1 of each of the commons)

Since we don't know ratios yet, it's hard to guarantee any specific individual figure requests yet...

- Since they are not officially up for pre-order at Robby yet, I have no firm prices.  The final price will depend on a number of things - wholesale price, shipping from Japan, currency exchange rate, bank fees, etc.  If the prices hold similar to the past series, you are looking at...
   1) Master Case  ~$325-$350
   2) Box of 12  ~$85-$90
   3) Set of 6  ~$50-$55

If I haven't scared you off yet and you are still interested in joining the mega-order, please post in this thread or just drop me a PM.  :)
