Title: Hellboy!
Post by: MisterPL on February 27, 2004, 05:06 PM
I picked up Grafitti Designs' Hellboy action figure (http://www.graphittidesigns.com/Store/graphics/actionfigures/hellboy.gif) a while back and was pretty happy with it. The sculpt does a pretty good job of capturing Mike Mignola's artwork and the size lends itself to my 6" scale figures from DC Direct and Marvel Legends.

Now Mezco (http://www.mezcotoyz.com/products.asp?pline=hell) is offering Hellboy figures from the movie, and while they look positively stunning, they're in the 8" scale. That makes MisterPL a little sad (wishing they were in the 6" or 3 3/4" scale myself), but that Hellboy's a big dude anyway, so what the heck. I probably won't be able to resist.

Has anyone found these at retail yet? And if so where?

I have seen lots of people posting on other sites that they have found them at Sam Goody, Suncoast, and Tower.  Also a few online retailers have received their stock.

Found 'em at Sam Goody today. Hellboy was a piece of work. Wow. I almost bought it, but I'm new to Hellboy, so I'm going to see the movie first.

I stumbled across every OTHER Hellboy figure today at Suncoast EXCEPT Hellboy himself.  ::)

The other figures looked awesome, definitely on par with McFarlane and DC Direct but for scale. Hellboy will look terrific towering behind my Batman figures... if I can find him.

(Gee, maybe Mattel and Hasbro are right; core characters DO sell faster than the rest.  :-\)

wow. that looks awesome. i've been able to stay away from these so far, but i might have to cave and get that one. i had to fight temptation - hard - not to pick up the first hellboy figures. i loved the movie, and those first few figures were awesome.

Can anyone direct me to a good Hellboy figure image gallery?  I've told myself for ages to start collecting this line and never did.  I recently picked up a super sweet lot of Hellboy prototypes and I'm 99% sure that some of the items included (clothing and accessories, not full figures) are unproduced or differ from the production version.  I want to compare them to the production versions, but I have nothing to compare them to. :(  Mezco's stock photos aren't exactly revealing and you never know with stock photos whether their true production pieces or samples, and whether they show all of their accessories.  If someone can direct me to a full-on gallery  I'd appreciate it.  Thanks.  :)

BTW, is anyone besides me anxious for the Hellboy II figures that are due soon?  I won't make the mistake of passing these up.  :P  I'm most excited about the Angel of Death in series 2, but series 1 looks great.

Dale, that last one is perfect.  I'm looking for collector-taken pics, something that will guarantee what I'm seeing is the final production version.

Now I just need to find one for Movie series 1.5 and the two comic series.  :)

The first movie figures were really sweet. I will definitely be picking up the 3.75 scale versions for SW customs, they look really sweet.

The best way to gets these are direct from Mezco.com since all the Suncoast stores are gone. They were a big supporter of this line.

Anyone got their Hellboy II figures yet?

******* awesome.  :)  Wink weighs a ton, and there's even a mailaway offer (free, if I remember right) for an interchangable head that better matches the final movie version.  I've had some paint quality issues with a couple but overall I'm really impressed.

Can't wait for series 2 with the Angel of Death.

Those are sweet looking (other than Abe who looks ridiculous IMO).  Are these roughly Marvel Legends sized?  They actually look a little bigger to me.

I picked up Wink (already mailed away for the extra head), Johann and Liz. The Prince figure isn't too exciting so i passed on him. Series 2 seems pretty cool as well, but i only want the Angel of Death and the goblin.

They're 7" scale.  Liz is around 6 1/2", up to Wink who's around 9".

BTW.....SWEET FREAKIN' JEEBUS!!!! (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/?page_id=5103&source=071008news)   :o :o

Also kids, if you cruise by Mezco's website, and check under exclusives, you can purchase the SDCC exclusive 3 3/4 Hellboy figure for like $10.  I grabbed mine when they first offered them, but there may still be some available.

I've seen these at Spencer's and TRU. They're $15 at TRU, $20 (!) at Spencer's. I'm waiting for the 3.75" figures to show up, myself.

Thanks! I'd prefer 3.75" scale as well, so I guess I can wait for those instead.

Deluxe Angel Of Death Figure - This deluxe figure stands over 13inches. From the mind of visionary
director Guillermo del Toro, this hauntingly designed figure features an eyeless face, razor-sharp teeth, and poseable, eye-adorned wings that span approximately10inches. Intricately sculpted with a remarkable attention to detail, a must-have collectible for every Hellboy fan.

Hellboy (no coat version) - Comes complete with one of his many pet cats, a six pack of his favorite beverage, and his trusty side arm the Samaritan.

Goblin - featuring a highly detailed sculpture, this character comes with a wagon with moveable wheels, a lantern, and two buckets.

Princess Nuala - The sister of the evil elf prince from series 1, Nuala comes with a map cylinder, a book, and a piece of the elf kings legendary crown.

I found the single-packed 3 3/4" at TRU today. At $8 a whack, it's just smarter to buy the 4-pack.

I just got the 3/34" box set today after thinking about it for a while and the figures do not disappoint. Really top notch quality, one of the better 3/3 4" lines I've seen. Anybody know anything about series 2? I know they showed some pictures at one of the conventions. I believe it had a Hellboy variant, Abe Sapien, Prince Nuada and the Angel of death.....I hope this line continues, I'd really like to add an Abe to the bunch to complete the group.
