The Bullpen / Re: The Avengers: The Toys

All I've seen is the Shield firing CAp and concept Hawkeye; wouldn't mind have a regular CAp and Thor to go along with the bunches of Iron Men I have plus Nick Fury and Black Widow.

Is Carl the new Jar Jar Binks of TWD Universe? That kid is irritating me to no end...

+1

I know seriously; I was like dam kid, first being a little punkazz talking smack to carol about her daughter, then going out into the woods to find a walker stuck in the mud. So like a typical punk kid who thinks nothing will happen to him, he throws rocks, sticks etc at the walker. Then has to go down CLOSER to it and poke it with a stick. I thought the 'oh sh!t' look on his face was priceless payback when the walker got one foot free and lunged at him.  Carl's just a 'little jimmy' if there ever was one ;)
Dale while trying to be a voice of 'civiliazed reason' in a world of chaos, was getting to be a broken record. But still, wasn't expecting him to be the one to die until the end when he was walking alone in the foggy night.

I kove this show and those great 'real world' ideas. Body armour of some kind is a must to ward off errant scratches and bites. Sword, shield, daggers, ninja throwing stars, as long as it'll puncture the brain, it'll do lol.
couple questions I have are: how to the walkers just seem to be stuck in some building somewhere, like the school but as soon as they broke the glass window they poured out. I reckon they can't really 'think' and are basically existing on minimal animalistc brain functions. They can't really get tired since they don't breath so no cardio vascular stamina needed (didn't they speculate about that in the beginning of season2 when a couple walkers come into their little camp?); likewise, I wonder if their bodies would respond to the cold, they don't seem affected by the heat and humidity found in ATL in the summer.
oh well, fun show with lots to speculate about and enjoy!

Star Wars Universe / Re: 'Star Wars' in 3-D?
« on: February 23, 2012, 11:16 AM »
Saw it opening weekend, whie the 3D wasn't mind blowing, it didn't suck either. More subtle and added depth to many scenes. Though the best part was taking my son to see Star Wars on the big screen.

I'd like to see SA versions of Senator Palpatine, Nute Gunray and Rune Haako. Padme Naberrie and Queen Amidala as seen during the first wave back in 99. Oh and either re-release Sio Bibble if nothing else or re-do him with SA. I mean come on, they remade Ric Olie??

Like some others have said, I'd like to see them do a Tantive IV similar to the recent Attack Shuttle, where folded up it's a flying vehicle but unfold it as a playset. Build in the main hallway where the Imps break in and fight it out, have a place for R2 and 3P0 to wander around and get into a 'new' escape pod, have the place wherfe Leia recorded her message in R2 and was later captured, finally have a 'main hold' area where Vader can interrogate Capt. Antilles. Yeah, I'd get that.

ok so we get a SA Doltey Dofine aka Stunted slime - great; now how about doing the same for the two MOST prominent Neimodiens - Nute GUnray and Rune Hako?? Nute had speaking parts in all three Prequel movies so he is a Must Have!

Other Toy Lines / Re: Tron Legacy Toys
« on: January 6, 2012, 12:39 PM »
Glad to see someone else collecting and enjoying Tron Legacy toys as much as I do. The 4" figures really are very cool toys, pretty well articulated, not quite "star wars super articulated" but still very good. I only wish they could have done a better job with human likenesses, I never got Flynn because he looked rather wonky and while Sam sports his battle helmet, the face is very plain; Poor Jarvis is the pits. I would have liked to have had non-helmeted figures of Quorra, Sam and CLu; plus a 'real world' Sam and Alan Bradley plus FLynn in his black robe and Clu with his robe - those were very cool outfits in the movie! I know Castor and a derezzed Blackguard were planned but never made/released. Gem would also have been a cool figure considering how much screen time she has. Oh well, here's hoping another manufacturer picks up the line IF/When they make Tron 3.

Picked up a deluxe Blackguard at target for $3.74 - yep that's right just under $4 for a deluxe 10" figure. Now the articulation on the deluxe versions isn't as good as the 4" figures but the detailing is more evident. He comes with a two piece flying wing set the snaps onto his back and like Rinzler, his ID Disk snaps on as well. He comes armed with two removable battle batons that also plug into his elbows as seen on the smaller version but that's it. SO since Rinzler came armed to the virtual teeth with 2 disks, 2 batons, an electric garrotte and staff, they share the weapons since Rinsler is only seeing wielding his two ID disks in combat. Also picked up a die cast 3man light jet for 98 cents. ONly figures I don't have are a Sentry and Kevin Flynn.

Kinda hard to answer since I buy few toys and most are for my son, who absolutely is STILL into Star wars! If I had more extra cash we'd be getting a lot more than we have.
So for me, the best figure we got is the Rebel Fleet Trooper; overall he is a great looking toy, very well sculpted with the right amount of articulation. Coming with a removable helmet is a plus and then a second cap? Not bad at all. PLus being a figure WAY over due makes the RFT my figure of the year. CLosely followed by Zam Wesell and the AoTC vintage Mace windu who FINALLY looks like SLJ.
Multipack/battlepack would be the Republic Commando set.  Not only do they look really cool, with great articulation makes these commandos a figure they can build on and churn out multiple variations for years to come. Can anyone say Omega Squad?
Vehicles - didn't buy any new ones this year.

I picked up one of the deluxe 10" tall Rinzlers and a Jarvis last week; then a secret santa got me the Lightrunner and Sam's lightcycle. Wouldn't mind having a deluxe Blackguard for $6. They had the reg figs for $4 last week. While the deluxe figs lack a lot of articulation, they do look very cool and one of Rinzler's ID disks fits on his back as it should. He comes with two ID Disks, two deactivated combat batons, one katana blade, the large version of the garrote the reg fig came with and what looks like a non-illuminated battle staff. The reg Jarvis comes with a plain  black data pad I'll probably customize and his ID Disk. And yikes another example of WHY most of the other figures like Clu and Quorra come with helmets, that 'face' is hideous; and the head is only a swivel joint while all others are sorta ball joint.
The Lightcycle is a very cool toy, in both its looks and play value.  The engine revs up, makes drivingn noises and as the front tire turns, it spins the visible engine. Haven't opened the lightrunner yet but it looks equally cool.

I found the lone Heavy Assault Drone aka Whiplash in robot armor from the final fight between him and Im and Wm. Comes with removeable saw blades you can swap out for the bendable electro whips and two variations of drone heads. tho neither shows vanko a la the never seen/released Im and Wm with open helmets.

I finally found a Sam at target last week which seemed to restock, had three pegs of the series 1 figs. I picked the better of the two Sams though both had a deformed baton. Today I found the Rinzler Identity Disk, which along with Sams' are clearanced to $9.00 :) And a friend in Tx who works at Target found me a Quorra. And one local wally had marked the Flynn Lightcycle down to $3.50 ! but I'm not really interested in it. Happy hunting for anyone still intersted in this line.

I have both my original version and the saga version. This is a really cool character and figure. It can use some articulation improvements but it's not bad at all for what it is.
