Title: Kubricks: Wishes and Wet Dreams
Post by: Jayson on January 14, 2007, 04:34 PM
After arranging (i.e. playing) with some of my loose figures today, I thought of a couple more Kubys that could be created for a future ANH themed boxed set. While I don't want Kubricks to fall into the Hasbro trap of repaints, it is way to get some of the non-essential background characters with minimal new tooling.

BoShek: Basically a repaint of the Bossk body/jumpsuit. They could sculpt a new head for the hair (a la Tarkin), and include a helmet and blaster. Obviously not a top of the heap character but not any less than Ten Numb or a generic hoth/endor soldier

Captain Antilles: Repaint of the RFT give him the strained (choking) expression like Hibernation Sickness Han and we're golden.

Imperial Officer (black uniform): a no brainer here, repaint the Veer Chase

Death Star Commander (gray uniform): Repaint the DS Trooper, add the cord to the helmet

CZ-3: Use K-3PO as a base, sculpt new torso piece and head

What would y'all like to see in a boxed set?

To me there are 4 distinct Box Sets I'd Like to see:

Jabba the Hutt w/ Bib Fortuna, Salacious B Crumb and Squidface
Hoth Luke w/ Tauntaun and Wampa and Hoth Leia
Droid Sale Set: Jawa, Uncle Owen, Aunt Beru, R1-G4 and Power Droid
Jabba Skiff Guards: Barada, Klaatu, Klaatu, Nikto and Weequay

I know there are several people around here that would like something along the lines of:

Endor Rebel Soldier
Hoth Rebel Soldier
AT-ST Driver
Generic X-Wing Pilot
Imperial Officer (Black Tunic)

I'd rather have that than repaint/retools I guess.  If that's the way you want to run, most of the stuff is possible with basic bodies and new hats/scarves/paints.  The bigger stuff like Jabba obviously need to be tooled.

The Skiff guards set would be sweet Scott, especially if they make a little mini skiff (maybe 1/2 the size of the POTF one) to put them on  ;D

You read my mind, well said. I would change Squidface to Amanaman though.

I'm still waiting on my Droids series box set.  It could be amazing:

Vlix
Tig Fromm
Sise Fromm
Admiral Screed
Uncle Gundy

Geez, you could pull two of them off if you wanted too.  I would like to see them do a box set and include one or two of the unproduced figures that you often see floating around as customs.

I like your box sets, but I hope they keep the soldiers back for regular series releases. It gives them something they can put multiples of in the box besides main characters, and makes army building only ridiculous, instead of ludicrous. I'm looking at the snowtrooper in a $60.00 box set (before shipping) and shaking my head... I had dreams of dozens of bricky snowtroopers manning my Hasbro AT-ATs- I hope this box set isn't his only release.

I agree in hoping they keep army builders in regular series release. Still holding out hope that a Snowtrooper of some sort will also be in a series. I missed the boat on the AT-AT driver, but I wasn`t army building at the time, now he goes for too much for me to really get more.
All these box set ideas are great though, hope Medi keeps putting kubs out for years to come!

With the Clone Wars series about to go into full swing, I wonder if the next Kuby series might be of that theme. Any one else interested in a CW line of 'bricks?

Sorry to say, but I'm basically down to OT or Droids stuff now I think.  Clone wars I'll pass on and same would go for any prequel stuff beyond series 10.  A Droids box set I'd love to see.  I'd also love to see them re-release the snowtrooper in a series, but they sure are nasty about that sort of stuff.

I think I'd be down for a Clone Wars series.  :)

Depending on how the S10 chases shake out, there could be some good figures left for a CW series - Ahsoka, Clone Armor Obi-Wan, Rex, Cody, Asajj, Plo Koon, etc.

I would like to be able to find Kubricks in the States or even have a fair shot online at exclusives without the astounding ebay markup. I'd pay a little mark up but not the kind that goes on for a 5 box set now adays.

Don't take this the wrong way but wouldn't that pretty much kill the interest in these then? Part of the fun is that not everyone has these because they are a relatively small market product.  Lego or Hasbro quite easily fill the North American market niche for these at mass retail pricing, so why would Tomy bother?  They seem disinterested in that level of production and frankly I'm ok with it.  Yes, I've had some good luck, but I've bought a lot of stuff off ebay as well.

The Rancor/Malikili set would be great, as would a Jabba palace box set.  I'd assumed Vlix would be in the Droids boxed set I asked for. ;)

I'd be all over this depending on who they make.  I've avoided most of the prequel stuff, but the Clone Wars could be really cool.  I'd love to see a wave something like this:

 - Anakin
 - ARC Trooper
 - Ahsoka
 - General Obi-Wan in Clone Armor
 - Durge
 - Ventress
Title: Whats on your most wanted list
Post by: gravetrooper on October 31, 2009, 09:39 PM
Hello
I have been a long time lurker in the Kubrick's section on the JD forums, its the best place I have found for info on the little guys in north America. I try to collect only the OT figures. I have some carded figs, and most boxes. I thought it might be fun to start a thread to see what holes collectors are looking to fill in their collections.

My most wanted are

Logray
VC Jawa
Indiana
Tarkin
Imperial commander
2007 box set

And I am super stoked for the first deluxe series
 :D

Hey GT!

Welcome to the forums and the unofficial site of the most obsessive Kubrick fans around!  What has been the primary source of your collection?  Do you have connections overseas or are you just picking up what you can on Ebay?  Be sure to share some pics with us if you can.

As for the Kubie's Most Wanted List, mine would include several of the ones you listed.  I've been lucky with a few chases, but the ones I'd most like to track down at this point are General Veers, Zam Wessel, and Yakface.  For unproduced Kubies, my top five would probably consist of these guys:

1.) Hammerhead
2.) Hoth Rebel Soldier
3.) Kit Fisto
4.) Weequay Skiff Guard
5.) Durge

Maybe Ree-Yees as an alternate as well as long as I'm making a wish list.   ;)

Hi Jman

Sorry to say that I have got all of my Kubrick items of eBay. I don't have any special connections to help get the little buggers over to North America any easeyer. As for pics they would just be of a few card board boxes. I am in the middle of a major home reno at the moment. I will have a display of my stuff in the down stairs movie room, but that will be the last project at the end of the reno.

After seeing the new Lego Wampa (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=19724.msg457277#msg457277), I really would like one of these in the Kubrick line as a chase or as a buildable figure through the new deluxe line.

I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I'd love to see a Clone Wars wave.  They could do something amazing with characters like Cad Bane or Ahsoka.  Even a clone ARC trooper Kubie would be pretty sweet.

Medicom is really into only doing repaints of existing kubs so lets see some wishlists for characters that require only new paint, maybe some slight retooling for hair or something.

Some I've come up with.

Translucent blue hologram Luke:

Black Death Star Droid:

X-Wing pilot Biggs:

Green A-Wing pilot:

Lobot (new communication thing clips over protruding ears)

He obviously would have legs. Professor X is just a good reference for a bald head.

AT-ST Driver (spot the difference)

It's a obvious joke, there is none. I wouldn't say no to a straight re-issue ;)

That's a pretty good basis right there for a 5 pack, it's just a shame they came to an end a long time ago.

There's also the umpteenth R2, C-3PO and Chewbaccas but I've had my fill of them.

Let's see some creative ideas.

A carded Yak Face in vintage colors of course

the vintage colors thing could be cool. Ponda baba in 1977 glory on a card would be nice.

Bespin is still too underrepresented in the line, but there is no inkling that there is a line left to add them.  :-\

I would take anything other than a reissued figure on a card.  I'd really like to know what their long term game plan is.  It sure feels like these are dead in the water and sinking fast.  Were they not amking enough money at $400 per case?

More vintage homages is a direction I could live with, like the recent DX4 and carded Tie Pilot. Off the top of my head I'm not that familiar with the vintage figures so I thought I'd throw together a couple of comparisons.

Yak face

A repaint could easily be done, it's subtle but different. Kind of like the series 7 Anakin chase and the vintage repaint that was put on a card.

I only just noticed now that Yak face doesn't have regular kubrick hands.

Walrus man

A plain body with basic colours like Hammerhead's with a Walrus head.

Another almost too easy one is Greedo. Just remove the vest and orange and replace with two shades of green.

Vintage style first 21 box set all carded. DX5 Bespin. DX6 Endor assault.
Cantina 10pack including re-sculpt of Hammerhead. ***Dewback in Canadian ESB box***, Wampa and Taun Taun two pack Trilogo box....
They could just do 5 packs. Hoth, Ewok, Army builders... etc
The build a thing killed it, just should have released ships [Landspeeder, Walker] and creatures as box sets with exclusive figures.
Way to kill a good thing medicom and no power droid to finish of the first 21 run? ...That's just bad form guys. Clowns.. :(

I'd like to see a POTF set with coins.  Most of these already exist in some form, but I'd like to see...

Imperial Gunner,
Pop-up Lightsaber R2,
General Calrissian,
EV-9D9,
Green A-Wing Pilot

They could reuse existing molds for a lot of this.  Come on Medicom, we miss you.
