Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Question for the married folks

Like Morgbug, I too get my goods delivered to the office for the security and stealth reasons.  I don't hide anything, so to speak.  It's not my fault he's not home when I come in with my goodies and plop it somewhere in the never ending collection. ;)

I know when Luke's saber came last week from MR, he said "So, is this what part of the tax refund went for?" and I honestly answered "No, of course not",  as it went for another prop...again not my fault he asked the wrong question. :)

Yes, I viewed it.  It's clips of Han in and around the Falcon from the original movies along with the narrator talking about what it actually is.

You get an email address, no pop up ads, avatars and sneak peaks at behind the scene footage (which I thought was cool as I never seen the Jedi take control of the droid ship) and some other stuff.  It never gave the price but did tell you it was available for free from the 5th to the 9th.

Too bad my subscription to the Insider doesn't get me access to this as I'm not joining but I will look at it during the free period.

Wow, how odd this came up when it was just being discussed yesterday over in the props forum at RS!!??
That's a great option and will probably help MR sell more directly to consumers since other sites that offer the sabers for a cheaper price don't have payment plans.

So, on the limited number of Dooku sabers....any guesses on which company has a bunch left over and wants to dump them back in MR's lap??

What three handmaidens went with Amidala when she left Naboo?

Hey, good topic Matt!

I have always looked at the figure inside the card as much as the card itself.  When my son was younger, I would buy two of each character-one for him to open and then a carded one for me (as I knew down the road I'd end up with all his stuff anyways  ;) ).   So I tried to find the best card but was so stunned at how awful many of the Leia's looked, I started picking my figures by how well they looked in the card as well.  Now it has gotten to the point that if the figures head is turned too much and I can't see it, someone forgot to paint eyeballs on (poor, blind Padme), or the paint is just slopped on, I'll take a better paint job over a nicer card.
Well, too a point anyways.  I mean the card can't look like someone pulled it through the slots on the bottom of a shopping cart, but I'll tolerate a warp, bend, or crease to a certain degree.

I don't really look for the variations that I read about unless I see that it enhances the figure (and I can't think of one figure that any variation did that for).

But all of this involves finding the new waves; so at this point I'd probably take a blind Padme!! :P

I'd say Luke on the Medical Ship, even though he would be in a new costume...boring

I doubt we'll see the Leia figure from the medical frigate either.

Oh, missed that first part.  Was it Admiral Daala?  I remember her being in that book but I'm at the office so I don't have the book handy to look it up for sure.

I still post in the "props" forum at RS and I do pop in to GH a few times a week just to see what's going on, I've always liked it there since so many of the members are the ones from CSW days.
I do find myself coming here now on a regular basis and I think I have found a new home.

As for non-star wars forums, I'm a regular at LOTR which is really starting to grow, like this one is.

Oh, and it's nice to the see the "Pink Elephant" dancing here too!! ;)

I love the picture of the green one.  Even with the limited articualtion, the $9.99 price point is going to make it hard to get these at first, as everyone will be buying more than one pack!!

I'm sure Wal-Mart believes their Cantina Sets didn't sell through as hoped because Obi-Wan, Luke, and Chewie weren't in there. ::)

Do you know that a friend of mine actually said that!!?? ???
He was looking through some of my stuff and said, "Where's Chewie and Ben?, You'd think they'd give you a decent character instead of this one"...or something along that line (and no, he doesn't collect Star Wars  :P ).

Other Collectibles / Re: Luke's ESB Saber from Master Replica
« on: May 23, 2003, 10:51 PM »

how long approximately are those saber hilts?  I'm just curious how they compare to the Anakin FX version that I have.  I know that mine is not as authentic, as it's a little bigger to accomodate the electronics, but I was curious just what the difference really was.  The Anakin FX saber hilt is just a shade over 12 inches...

They are all around 11" long with the exception of Dooku's saber (which is just under 13").  Thanks everyone for the kind words, my props are the pride of my collection.

Well, it finally arrived and it is another nice piece.  I was lucky enough to get a number that actually matched my Obi-Wan saber so I thought that was pretty cool.  I also didn't seem to have the smudge problem that others had on the signature plate.   That's the positive side, the negative side is that one of the saber "igniter" buttons was broken.  I emailed MR with photo's of the piece and am hoping that they can just mail me a new piece to screw in as my husband doesn't think any "normal" glue will hold due to the spring inside.

All in all, it's a cool saber and is in the medium weight range of all the ones they have made.  I wish the holders inside the display stand were a little higher so that the plaque didn't cover up part of the saber, but it's not too bad and I was expecting that (as I had the same problem with my signature Dooku plaque).

As for the signature edition itself, I am undecided if I will continue to pay an extra $100.00 for an autograph plaque that might tarnish (or come loaded with fingerprints) and a display case that doesn't really accomidate the larger plaque.

You need to scroll down to the bottom to see the saber in the black case it came in and a photo of the plaque.  (aand as always..load times vary :P)
