Power of the Jedi / Re: bespin guard

THe Bespin Guard does seem like a suitable candidate for head variations.  I'll keep my fingers crossed for that one.

One of the reports from the Media Event at hasbro stated that Bail is on the way, but wasn't available to be seen at the event.  He'll probably be revealed at Comic-Con in San Diego.

Saga '02-'04 / Re: New Target Accessory Sets (Summer '03)

In this photo, MAC, the rebel tech has two wands.

.

This set looks like it's okay.  It is a kit-bash, though.  The head obviously comes from the  POTF2 Rebel Fleet Trooper, and the body is from the scanning trooper.

A better kit bash might have resulted from using the Imperial Officer body, and the Rebel Trooper-Tantive IV Defender head.  All you would need are new forearms to ditch the gloves, and a new paint job.  However, a customizer friend of mine told me that the Rebel Trooper head peg won't work with the Imperial Officer body.  All I can say to that is DRAT!  I think it would've looked really good in comparison to this Rebel Tech,

It seems that some folks are needlessly using some of their choices on figures that have already been confirmed or are not quite possible.  The following are on the way this year:

-Bail Organa
-Clone Trooper (yellow) in the Clone Trooper 3-Pack
-San Hill in the Geonosian War Room Screen Scene
-Poggle The Lesser in the Geonosian War Room Screen Scene
-FLO Waitress droid (actually called WA-7 droid)

Also, regarding R4-P17, this astromech is actually built into Obi-Wan Kenobi's Jedi Starfighter.  So there's nothing more to this plucky astromech other than his dome and attachments to the hull of the starfighter.

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Cantina Wave 2 Sets a No Go
« on: April 13, 2003, 11:39 AM »
This wasn't really news.  It's been reported here: http://www.thejawa.com/index.php?page=showcomments&id=1692 in March, and more recently here: http://www.thejawa.com/index.php?page=showmonth&m=04&y=2003, and it's this news story:

"Cantina Scene Update
Some of you might recall my earlier article on the second wave of Cantina Scenes. If not, check it out here.

I've been following up on this story with another Hasbro source. They have stated emphatically that wave 2 of the Cantina sets were never officially confirmed by Hasbro, and they are not scheduled for the 2003 toy line.

Saga '02-'04 / Re: New Figs totally destroyed
« on: April 5, 2003, 12:24 AM »
A lot of times, when cartons get crushed, it's the guys in the truck that are responsible.  When I used to work at a loading dock, I saw more than my fair share of truckers stand on cartons to get to stuff that's high-up in the truck.  I guess they're unaware.  Should we petition the teamsters, LOL?

I haven't opened a case in a while.  Are they still putting the tissue paper in between each card/bubble?

I'm so glad I don't collect figures to keep carded anymore.  This is one headache I don't miss.

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Hoth Han and Chewie 2003!
« on: April 3, 2003, 10:55 AM »
Has anyone noticed a trend with almost every Chewbacca that's come out in the past 2 years or so?  With the exception of the 25th Anniversary 2-pack, we haven't gotten one with a properly done bowcaster.

-The Mynock Hunt has an action-feature bowcaster
-The POTJ Mechanic comes only with goggles & wedling tool
-The POTJ Dejarik Champion comes with Dejarik table only
-The SAGA Bespin Escape comes with an Imperial Blaster, cargo net, and blasted C-3PO

Weird.

Power of the Jedi / Re: Force Files
« on: April 2, 2003, 03:37 PM »
Well, what Hasbro was trying to do with the force files was to add some value to the overall figure.  Before that, the value-added item had been the Commtech chip.  In fact, there's a litany of little value added things that Hasbro has tried.

But I think the overiding issue that you can find with those last three waves of POTJ is this:  they were probably THE BEST figures that were done in the entire line.  To me, that makes up for the absence of the force files.

The later items, mainly the last three waves lost the force files.  Most people seem to regard these as  a transition towards the SAGA line.

The force files seemed to get a not so great reception.  The consensus among most collectors seemed to be "give us more accessories, not more paper".

Clone Wars '03-'05 / Re: New Clone Wars Anakin & Durge
« on: March 29, 2003, 02:42 PM »
Well, having read the new Dark Horse Star Wars:  Republic title where Durge makes his premier, he seems like the bad guy you love to hate.  And definitely mean!  The way they've drawn him makes his armor look somewhat Samurai-like.  Reminds me of the Silver Samurai, of X-Men and Wolverine fame.
