The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: RC Hailfire Droid
« on: February 16, 2011, 05:15 PM »
Target's clearance of the R/C Hailfire Droid appears to be in full swing.  I found a couple at a local store that were marked at $24.98 or so.  Given that price drop I was ready to pull the trigger on this vehicle.  And imagine my oh so pleasant surprise when I got to the register and to find that the current clearance price was ACTUALLY $14.98.  A nice score in my book.

Here the Trooper doesn't look super duper tall...same height as Han maybe a little taller due to the bucket

I'll probably get 20 of these guys

Great pics!  This figure does not disappoint.  The articulation looks awesome.  And the accessories are pretty awesome.  Just running through those...

-Helmet
-Cap
-Blaster pistol
-Staff
-Rangefinder/scanner
-Ammo belt

This is all going to fit on a TVC card?  But then, you can mix and match so much of these that it'll be cool to make each trooper a little different.  And I think that the cap is gonna be a great addition for the Rebel Honor Guards from the 30AC line.

An actual mouse droid figure on a card by itself?  That's probably the single coolest thing about this set to me.

4 - PK Droid
5 - Gardulla the Hutt
6 - Tey How

The Vintage Collection / Re: 2012 - "One EU Figure In Every Wave"
« on: February 11, 2011, 04:57 PM »
Interesting proposition from Derryl DePriest's comments.  I'm not totally sold on some of the EU characters that were in the Fan Choice Poll.  SOME of those are probably going to happen.  But I think we're also going to see a mix of some comic characters that may have been in the pipeline along with some popular video game based figures.  KOTOR, The Force Unleashed, Republic Commando and Battlefront all have MAJOR fanbases, and I think Hasbro will want to reach some of that audience.

Scored the Super Battle Droid today at Target, so I won't be going the HTS route.  The wave is hitting retail now, and based on Derryl DePriest's comments on the Force Cast I'm inclined to believe that we're going to see a greater TVC presence at retail.  I can't justify paying shipping for this wave.

Wow.  The variant Jedi Luke card looks really good.  But it stinks that they'd keep on shipping that ****ing Sandtrooper!

Wait.  They've inserted the X-Men into the Cuban Missile Crisis?

REALLY?!?!?

Derryl really know how to get those wheels spinning, huh?

He and Hasbro appear to be relishing the opportunity to cash in on the theatrical 3d releases of the entire Saga.  Does that mean a movie themed big-ticket item related to EVERY movie?  I'm not so sure.  It's really going to depend on just how much hype the Saga in 3-D is going to generate.

So will Hasbro take the plunge on re-offering the Naboo Royal Starship next year?  Personally, I don't see it happening.  I could see them taking a chance on a deluxe vehicle line re-imagining of the Sith Infiltrator because of the tie-in with Darth Maul.  And taking into consideration recent events on Clone Wars this may be a possibility.  And when you also look at how so many collectors were extremely disappointed with the Sith Infiltrator that came out in the 30AC line, maybe Hasbro will want to make this one good.

Any 3-D release related offerings from Hasbro will probably follow a marketing plan which resembles what we'll see in 2012 for Episode I.  A Death Star would probably be the ULTIMATE offering Hasbro could make.  But that's 4 years off, and who's to say what will happen between now and then.

Thoughts on the new R5-D4?  Better than the Saga version?

I see they still have not painted the back panels red

So Hasbro got a second chance to get R5-D4 right and DIDN'T do the red panels on the back in this new version?  THAT would have been enough to get me to buy the TVC version.  But instead Hasbro lost a sale to me.

Shadows of the Dark Side / Re: 2011 Saga Legends Figures
« on: February 6, 2011, 08:57 PM »
Honestly, there are only a few Saga Legends figures I see with a good degree of regularity:  Episode III Anakin & Obi-Wan, the Phase I Clone, Phase II Clone and the 501st Clone.  The rest of the Saga Legends lineup seems to sell through pretty well in the NYC suburbs.

Hasbro could certainly stand to tweak the character selection so that there's not so much overlap between Vintage and Saga Legends.  But I think you're going to find that the sales numbers for Vader on a Vintage card are pretty even with sales of Vader on the Saga Legends cards.

The Vintage Collection / Re: 2010 "Vintage" Collection Wave 3 - ROTJ
« on: February 4, 2011, 01:21 PM »
It's really funny.  Collectors clamored to get Wooof made in the modern line, and when we saw that the figure was coming out there was genuine excitement.  And the figure really has not disappointed.

But then what happens?  Wooof quickly became the biggest pegwarmer of the ROTJ wave.  The irony is staggering.

Thunder and lightning during a snowstorm is not a common occurrence.  I've only seen it once, and that was during the blizzard of 1996.  It's kind of alarming when you see that during a snow storm.
