30th Anniversary Collection / Re: Twin AT-RT Battle Pack
« on: July 17, 2007, 11:09 AM »
The more I think about it, I think I'm only going to get one set.

Knowing Hasbro's penchant for repaints, I'll holding out for the inevitable 501st, Utapau, Felucia, Shocktrooper colors.

I'd only need one set for each color, so no worries on my part. I'm not looking to army build these and if they never come out with the other color variants I mentioned, I'm not worried about it.

I like this wave. Most of it works for me.

Clone Trooper (Training Gear) - Excellent. Now here's hoping for the blue variant as well. I'll get 20 of these guys. Heck the snap on armor will look great in an armory scene (similar to the one where they pick up their helmets on Kamino). When teh blue one comes out (and you know it will), I'll get 20 of those too...hmm, and here I thought I was going to slow down on army uilding...well I should say I'll stop at the end of the TAC and Legends lines.

Padme Amidala (Fireside Gown) - Nice, not great, but good enough. I'll buy 2 of her.

Jango Fett (w/ poncho) - Sweet. The snap of armor will look good in the closet slightly hidden from view, the the scene where Obi officially meets Jango.

Voolvif Monn (Clone Wars) - Other than the head being way to big for my taste, this figure rocks. Looks like there is some very resepectable articulation going on there.

Destroyer Droid (w/ 1/2 shield) - Well I need 2-3 shields, so that's going to be 4-6 Destroyers for me.

McQuarrie Signature Series - Concept Rebel Trooper - I'll get my standard 2 of this as I'm doing with all of the other McFigs (save Vader and Boba who I'm getting 3 each of).

Well, I'll get this on one of the online sites. No more than 2 though. $25 is way to much for this set. I'd prefer $15-18. Anything more expensive than that is a stretch, IMHO.

Yes, we all know that GG has sucked in the past year or so, but I am tired of hearing this silly "east coast" theory in regards to winners.  I live in Delaware and have only won 1 of 7 raffles that I have entered.  Another bit of knowledge...the majority of the population lives on either the east or west coast.  That can help account for the numbers.  At the present time, we do not know the number of members or their locations, so to say only the north eastern states can win the raffle is a little ridiculous.  Why "rig" the raffle for those people?

IIRC there was a gathering of info on gentlegiantcollectors.com that did get as much info as it could regarding who won and where they are from. That info is where it was revealed. Again I'm not certain if that's the website, but I'm pretty sure.

Here's the thread I think the info is contained in.

There are many pages and I didn't go through them all,  so read at your leisure/risk.

I get that the letter has flaws. That's why it's suggested for you to use this as a basis and edit or rewrite as you see fit.

I agree it wouldn't be good for the line to be killed. However on that note, I won't be collecting the new smaller sized busts and don't colelct the maquettes, so for me it only affects the mini busts themselves. Since I'm looking to downsize how much I collect, this would be one place for that to happen. No I wouldn't like to see GGs SW line end. But it's also not the end of the world for me either.

Jesse, thank you for the kind words.

Indeed I only meant to post the link for GG collectors should they want to join in with others who are feeling the same frustrations. I don't go promoting other websites. Heck I mentioned in my previous response that I'm a mod on another collecting site, but none saw me post what site that was and won't (unless they want to know and then only by PM).

I don't think LFL would trash GG publicly. The would have a meeting behind closed doors if anything and in the future we might see things change.  GG wouldn't have to say why they changed. (Even if we knew why). Hey can still save face with both LFL and we collectors.

I can only see it as a win for everyone. GG as well as LFL make more money, and collectors are happier being able to get the product they desire. Yes, that's completely, but I'm trying to be an optimist here. (heh, almost typed Optimus...can't get Transformers out of the brain.)

Sometimes peopel have to put aside their differences for the "greater good" so to speak.

No, we don't

In this case it's all of we collectors making a statement to LFL, not just scummers.

Against LFL about a licensee?? Seriously, if I thought that would even remotely possibly make any kind of dent I'd be in

I'm not a scummer myself. I've een registered there for several years and I think I've posted there maybe a half dozen times total.

Okay seriously take a look at my post count there. Then take a look here. I've got many times the amount of posts here and in only a couple of months.

So please...don't lump me in with that lot. The only reason I even knew of this was from another collector in my state collecting group. I don't troll RS's forums at all. Hell, I'm registered on several other forums too. Doesn't make me a full fledged member there either. I think I'm on Yakface, and have been for sometime, but I couldn't tell you my forum name to save me.

Sloth, seems like you like to create a stir for the sake of it. I don't. I'm just trying to help in any small way I can. If you don't want to participate, fine, but the info could be helpful to others. I'm keenly aware of what RS did last year to some of the forumites (some of which are here too) and that many of those defected to other sites JD being one of them.

I'm not new to this, just to JD. I'm a well respected member on a few sites. A mod on one of them and a former toy reviewer on another (my choice due to illness).  Get your facts straight before rolling your eyes. It really only makes yourself look bad when you've been given the rest of the picture.

I'm not some johnny come lately collector. To be honest the main reason I'm here is because of an invitation from Jesse who I know presonally as in, "in person." Our local collecting site went down when jawa.net did and he offered to have a home here on JD (even if temporary). So myself nad others took him up on the offer. However, I've decided to stick around.

So let's play nice. Thanks.

You do NOT need to post there to help in the campaign. Just copy the letter, edit as you wish and mail it to the address provided.

If you don't need to post there, and all you need to do is copy/paste a letter, then why not copy/paste the letter here to save time for folks instead of making them chase it someplace else?  ???

Yes my bad. I should have done that. Apologies.

Feedback / Re: Darth_Anton's feedback

Completed an excellent deal with Anthony. He was patient with me getting the payment to him. While not new to collecting, I am a noob to JD and he had no hesitation to helping me out.

I highly reccommend him to anyone.

Thanks Anthony!

Sorry, as soon as I read Rebelscum, consider me deterred. It's the way of things.

Yeah I know. But I'm thinking beyond RS and that this is more a whole collector community thing and not an RS thing. If we can't unite for a cause when we have the same interests, well nothing is going to get done.

Other Collectibles / Letter writing campaign to GG regarding...
« on: July 12, 2007, 10:47 PM »
This link is a letter writing campaign to GG regarding their inadequate small edition sizes, plethora of exclusives, extremely flawed raffle system, and bad customer service. It is address to LFL.

Please do NOT let the fact that this is a Rebelscum thread deter you. You do NOT need to post there to help in the campaign. Just copy the letter, edit as you wish and mail it to the address provided.

Here's the link:
http://threads.rebelscum.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=2687005&page=0&view=&sb=5&o=&fpart=3&vc=1&PHPSESSID=

If GG won't hear us directly then if we can get it through to LFL that one of their licensee is screwing the pooch, maybe just maybe we can get something accomplished here.

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: Target's new policy
« on: July 9, 2007, 02:47 PM »
Excuse me, but I think I have the right to buy something if that's what I would like to do with my money!

No, you don't, but Target has the right not to sell to you, as ****** as it may be, for any reason they see fit.

Exactly - the only right we have is to take our rapidly emptying wallets elsewhere.

Problem there is that we as a collecting community would never be able to do this. There are some who strongly defence Target because they've had nothing but good experiences. Besides others would get it in their heads that if many collectors aren't going to Target, then it's a rich place to find new stuff.

I've had my problems with Target. Some downright humiliating. So I don't even bother to ask then for help anymore. Now if they ask me if I need help ok I'll let them know what I'm looking for. But even then I might not. It's happened that they've asked and then when I say I'm looking for SW stuff they pull back and say they can't help.  Why even ask then if they aren't going to help? Just to egg us on I can only guess.

Thankfully, I'm in close proximity of WM, TRU, KMart, KBs as well. So if I don't find it at Target, I've got lots of options and I make use of them all, besides networking with fellow collectors on forums, among other things.

1872
I left one on the shelf at Target yesterday. ???

Um, I know you're helping me with Rebel Honor Guards, but if you could also hook me up with Stormtroopers too... Please let me know. (and AOTC Clones.) Yeah I know, I'm asking a lot....Thanks for the help you've already given me as well as any future help.

Just got the new B-wing and Plo Koons Jedi Starfighter.

I actually like the new paint app on the B-wing. Only thing I'd change is the swish on the large wing I'd point in the opposite direction. But I get it as it's supposed to be the lower curve of the "B" in the B-wing.

The Plo Koon JSF is a bit more purple than expected. Still I like this design. Now where is our Hyperspace ring for the 3 3/4 line!!! heh.

Well Jesse should know this from my post in our local section..

I'm hoping to get 40 of them. Then finally I think my AOTC Clone army (grunts) will be complete. I'll only need a handful of the Blue Lt. when it comes out and I'm not buying the yellow, red, or green when they come out. (Jesse let me know if you are looking for those officers and I'll gladly pick some up for you.)

I do hope this particular clone keeps shipping in refresh cases. It was rarely seen on the pegs in this sculpt on card. And like Jesse said, unless you bought a case of them it wasn't worth it to buy a pack of 4 from Entertainment Earth.

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: 30AC pegwarmers
« on: June 14, 2007, 08:57 AM »
Of the figs from wave three I think we'll see Vader pegwarm. The stand is cool, but I just don't see the average person going crazy over it just because of the new stand(obi robe). Next I see Biggs and Luke. Sure at first Biggs will sell, due to the novelty of having a cut scene fig. But again the average person doesn't even know who this guy is, or if they did only as an X-wing pilot and not the cut scene outfit. Luke has a strong point in the vaporator, and that will be his only saving grace for a little while. The figure itself is not that great.

I do agree that the Jawa is going to be harder than the previous three. It's been awhile since we've had Jawas. Let alone a great Jawa fig like this. Toss in a new never before made droid and I see every reason for people wanting this figure. Army build it? Hmm, maybe. I'm planning on getting 4-5 myself, so yeah I guess you can say army build. But for m I'm going to customize the paint apps on the extra. I won't really need the extra LIN droids. (So they will be available for trade/sale later as I get them).

The Stormtrooper shouldn't peg, however I've seen several people on various SW collecting boards go either way on this. Mostly due to the helmet. All I can say is good...heh heh. More for me and the others out there who WANT the figure. I don't think the helmet issue is all that bad and I can easily overlook any shortcomings of it.

McChewie of course is the gem in this wave. I don't expect him to peg at all. If you see him, get him.
