Title: Celebration Europe II Hasbro Panel
Post by: Jeff on July 23, 2013, 12:08 AM
Here we go again...  let's hope that CEII will be better for 3.75" Black Series reveals than SDCC was.

Anyway, here's the Hasbro panel details...  oh good, they'll be talking about Angry Birds again.   ::)

I may try...  I dunno.

All tweets will be read, in my mind, in a silly German accent.

I'd use this one for the Hasbro Q&A tweets...

I lean toward this:

I totally passed out 40 minute before the show and didn't wake up until a hour after it concluded. Luckily, I didn't miss a thing as it sounds like it was letdown as far as new reveals. Sure they had slides for Mace, Plagueis and Neyo but those figures were on display since day 1 and no mention of those new Geonosis Jedi Knight packs.

Gotta save something for whatever. Yeah...

As slow as stuff is coming out, any new reveals would be only available a year from now anyway.

I usually don't get too down on Hasbro about anything but this is pretty blah. The were saving things comment was obviously an exaggeration. You have a restless collector base and a starved market. Give them a reason to stick around!

I was going to try staying up, then I'm so sick I said screw it and went to bed...  so glad I made that decision because that was pathetic.  Like, seriously, pathetic.

I thought they'd at least tell us who gets those JK Arena sets, and at this point they seem like they may be in limbo.  They'd have posted something if those were coming out soon I'd imagine unless they are attending NYCC?

So to recap:

SDCC - First official reveals:
Angry Birds II products
Black Series 6" - Wave 2 (2 new, 2 shown already)
Tease of 6" Speeder Bike
Black Series 3.75" - Wave 2 (2 new, 4 shown last year)
Saga Legends - Wave 2  (4 new)
Saga legends - Wave 3 peek (2 new)
Mission Series - Wave 2 (3 new)
Class II Vehicles - Wave 2 (3 new)
K-Mart Exclusive Scanning Crew packs and Ewok Catapult (shown at Toy Fair but not to public)
Amazon Exclusive Droid Factory 6-pack (technically shown last year)
Black Series 6" - Wave 3 peek (1 new)

CEII - First official reveals:
Black Series 6" - Wave 3 (2 new)
Black Series 3.75" - Wave 3 (3 new, 1 shown already)

What the heck was with the whole "Lucasfilm told them to hold back for CEII" crap then?

I don't think they showed any exclusives at CEII. But the lack of a "exclusively at ___" sticker on them makes me worried. Maybe Hasbro purposely leaked them to see what the reaction would be so they would know if they should go ahead with them.

I know I want 'em but it's a prime example why they don't like leaked images. :)

Yeah, I have to say, although I'm excited for some stuff that is on the way...overall between SDCC and CEII, it is a bit of a let down.  I really thought that after such a longer drought and all the weird things going on with the SW line lately, with the prospect of new movies/cartoon on the horizon that we'd get a little more of a "wow" from Hasbro with these cons.  I guess we did technically see nearly the next two waves of the 6" line, but the fact that we had already seen most to all of the 3 3/4" stuff (Black Series at least) at some point over the past year may have made it more underwhelming.

It does make me worry a bit for "collector" 3 3/4" figures.  It may just be due to the fact that they had these figures ready to go for awhile now, and had to put them out first, but we saw a fair amount of newness for both the 5 POA stuff and the 6" stuff, but 3 3/4" was largely more of the same (with some exceptions).  It may just be where the line is at right now, but overall I have to say it is shaping up for a pretty boring year for that scale/line.  Still stuff I'm excited for, but not like it usually is.

No major reveals because they are waiting for Saga Legends sales data to come in so they can justify cancelling the collector's series entirely, then doing some monthly subscribtion scam that will be 75% repaints/kitbashes with figures priced at $15 each before shipping.

Can't tell if you're joking but I don't think that's out of the realm of possibility in the near future.  Or something similar.
