Even though this is from Scholastic and probably going to be marketed toward a younger crowd, I may have to pick this up.  It's a really interesting concept and if done properly will be a very good read.

From an FX Saber fan's perspective, it sorta sucks...  However I have a feeling someone else will pick up the ability to make these, at the very least, if not all the other stuff MR made that nobody was really buying much.

I really hope you are right and someone else is going to pick these up...  I also wonder if they are going to halt production all together or if they are going to continue with the FX sabers that were still slated for this year (Obi-Wan EPII, Build-Your-Own FX Saber)?  I was really looking forward to the Obi-Wan later this year, and like everyone else, hoping they were going to make the Qui-Gon, Sidious, and Dooku sabers at some point.

I ended up calling my new WI local Target to see if they had any TAC figures in and the sales associate didn't even know what the figures were...  At least you guys are seeing them.  Looks like I'm going to have to wait until July or so to start seeing them here...

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: What HDTV to buy - LCD, Plasma, DLP
« on: May 10, 2007, 08:22 AM »
Thanks for the advice everyone, I really appreciate it since I'm a novice at this and it's a big investment I don't want to regret later.

Looks like the consensus is stay away from plasma and go LCD or DLP.  I have a feeling that I'm going to have to go with DLP though because we have a 19' long family room that opens into the kitchen.  So the idea was to get a set that we could still see well if we were in the kitchen making meals, etc.  That being said, I was looking at at least a 56" set if not bigger.  So I guess that rules LCD out...

I've been working in the television industry for over 15 years.

Hopefully you won't mind a few PM's when I finally narrow down my choices  ;D

Watto's Junk Yard / What HDTV to buy - LCD, Plasma, DLP
« on: May 9, 2007, 05:02 PM »
I'm looking at buying an HDTV and have done all the research on LCD vs. Plasma vs. DLP, but was wondering what everyone's experience has been with these.  I'm leaning toward plasma for my Family Room, mostly because of size, and LCD if we upgrade the one in our bedroom, but I'm sure I could be convinced to go with LCD for both.

What does eveyone else have and would you buy the same thing if you had it to do all over again?

I just added the full scale Maul and Luke Jedi to my collection (thanks to the 50% off sale at borders they cost me $100 and $60 respectively).  ;D

Nice score man!  I know you've been wanting the Maul for a while.  Glad to see you finally got one at an excellent price.

I just bought the ROTS Obi-Wan this morning, $89 shipped.  A little more than I was looking to spend, but hopefully well worth it.  That leaves only the Yoda on my personal want list.

I'm going to assume that this is the same interactive R2 as before with a price increase to $120...

I had considered getting one until I realized that the price went up 25% from the last release!

Finally found the Treachery on Saleucami BP at WM this afternoon.  Picked up that and then the Vader Coin Album from Target for $5.

Holy crap! Thats almost exactly what I saw, there were also three TIEs at my Target I was just omplaining about! Are you sure you were in Wisconsin?  :o

Alas, I wish I were in Hawaii but instead I'm in southern Wisconsin...

I just moved up to Wisconsin from Illinois and went on my first toy run the other day.  In the area, there is only a Target, so I'm SOL for WM and TRU exclusives.  Unfortunately, the Target only had Enboo figures and three TAC white TIE Fighters.  Thankfully they at least had pegs for TAC figures, but they were nowhere to be seen, nor in the stockroom.  No Comic 2-Pack pegs, no space for Battle Packs, no Order-66 packs either...

I think I've found another reason to hate moving!

Just ordered a set for me and a set for my sister.  I figured I had to pay her back for getting me the silver foil stamps back in the day.  Can't wait to get these.

I have all those silver foil stamp sheets, first day release and other various stamp sheets for OT that came out back in the late nineties. Did anyone else pick those up?

Yes, the silver foil ones are the ones I was refering to in my post.  They are definitely not US stamps and I recall a relative ordering them for me as a gift.

I haven't ever bought any kind of "special" stamps before, so does anyone know how to do it/how difficult it is?

I have a few limited edition release sheets of stamps (James Dean and Marilyn Monroe) that I picked up the day they were supposed to be released.  I just went to the local post office and bought them.  Nothing too fancy.  I also recall something about a pre-order for those, but that was a long time ago.  I'm not sure that the post office still does that.

I ended up getting the stamps when they came out for the OT Special Editions, so I'm sure I'll be picking these up too...

I picked up all 6 of these today.  Love all of them except for the Yoda/Kashyyyk trooper pack.  That one's going back.

One thing that I noticed that I didn't see posted before, was that some of the figures come with additional accessories packed on the bottom of the packaging:

Palpatine comes with an additional hand and Sith lightning.
Yoda comes with an additional hand and a cane.
Anakin comes with his ungloved mechanical hand.
Obi-Wan comes with an additional hand and his lightsaber hilt.  The AT-RT Driver comes with the battle damaged chest plate.

It still doesn't change the fact that these are not the best figures and that Hasbro could have given us better ones, but at least they added enough to these packs to make them ok.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: If You Lost Your Collection....
« on: March 23, 2007, 08:11 AM »
If I lost everything I wouldn't go back and replace the stuff I had from the Hasbro lines.  With how much product they are putting out lately, they will either re-release it in the next few years, or they will release a newer, better version hopefully.  I'm buying the Hasbro lines right now for my kids. If it were all lost, I would wait to see if they are even interested in the 3 3/4 inch line, and if so, only buy what they want.  For my own personal collection, I would continue on the Master Replicas route and collect the FX sabers, but I would also add the hilts to my wish list.

I'm moving in the next few months, so I will be very interested to see how much of the stuff (hopefully none) is damaged as a result of the move.  Here's to hoping I packed it all well enough!
