You know, the food items and what not that comes out and marketed for kids is IMHO, really stupid. However I don't think a lot of us who grew up in the 80's can claim the higher ground neither. I mean hell, even though this was just flavored water, ie Kool Aid, for a long time every time during the weekly grocery trip, I would put in a package of these in the cart!! Same thing as Kool Aid, just in a nifty portable package. Which didn't serve us good, me and my friends would drink em as soon as we got to the house!

What else do you remember falling for?? Food, clothes, fads, whatever!!

On the fads side, I fell for those spiked belts that all the "punks" were wearing!! LOL!! I hadn't even gotten to my headbanging days, and I was already leaning towards the punks side! Thing is, I would wear it with my Espirit shirts!! :o

Watto's Junk Yard / ALien Invasion
« on: December 17, 2005, 06:18 PM »
Okay, here I am watching War of the Worlds for the first time. And it's pretty good, but like most times a movie like this airs, be it this, or ID4, or any other alien invasion movie, it gets me thinking. What would happen if we really were invaded by aliens, for whatever reason, would we, the human race, survive??

With what happened in the one scene in which Cruiese and his family got their car taken away and with the chaos that occured in Lousiana, would we just go into utter anarchy and and become even easier pickings for the aliens? Is it our nature to lose all control and just be easy targets for the Aliens?

Would the governments of the world keep an inpending invasion under wraps so that they could try to get a hold on the situation and possibly set up some sort of counterstrike against the invasion? Is this right or if they told us would the previous situation just come to fruitition that much earlier??

And more about the preparedness of the world, since they invading alien force would be naturally more sophisticated than us, could we even mount an offensive? Is there any way or technology could do anything?? Is the possibility that the govenrment is developing something for a worst case scenario such as this?

Also if people in general don't believe in aliens, would it make it that much easier for them?

How about you personally, would be you be ready to survive the long haul? Do you think you could live for weeks on end on bare minimum in the hopes of waiting out the invasion?

I would really like some well thought out replys and additions to this thread!! I think we can really get some good input in this!! And please if you have ideas I didn't cover, I want to hear them!!!

I leave the thread with this, as in ID4, would an Alien invasion be the only thing that could rally humanity like nothing else?

Watto's Junk Yard / Are you where you want to be in life???
« on: April 13, 2005, 08:18 PM »
Okay just was using google to look for people I used to know in school and I found out that some of the people I ran with are very successful. They are where I want to be, but not. I am so embarrassed I am still in school and still have a year to go, just to get my bachelors. And if I want to get a Law Degree that's another 3 more years. When I saw my old friend as a Lawyer for a very nice Lobbying group, it just blew my mind. I mean this kid used to be the headbanging kid with long hair and torn up Metallica shirts, and now he is clean cut and a Lawyer, and I'm still a friggin student. I am so ashamed of myself. I figured I'd post this here, since there is a older group, but most of you are already finished with your degree.

Anyhow just want to know if you are where you want to be, if not what do you have to do?? Those of you who are exactly where you are, did you have any stumbling blocks, how did you over come them???

Watto's Junk Yard / Your guilty movie pleasures???
« on: December 20, 2004, 01:10 AM »
Ok, simple enough, what movie do you love to watch, bu you know it would get you made fun of by your friends??? I think we all have those movies, and no, not porno guys. you know the movie we loved as kids, or teens, whatever. Just the one movie you love, and always will watch, but is a DVD or VHS you keep hidden!!!! ;)

Mine has got to be Grease 2. Everyone loves Grease, but puts down the sequal. I saw the second one first and has been one of my faves of all time. I wish we would get a Special Edition of 30th edition, whatever, jsut something better than that bare bones one we have.

Anyhow I know all the songs by heart and can sing along to all of em. Well all except the one lame song towards the end, the dream sequence. Sorry song, but the rest are just catchy songs that I love to sing!!!!

:o I need a coo oo oo ool Rider, A coo oo oo ool Rider. If he's cool enough he burn me though and through, woh ohhh.

Watto's Junk Yard / A question to Star Wars fans.
« on: December 13, 2004, 12:56 AM »
Ok we all know that most of us here would have, in a heartbeat, appeared in one of the Prequel films, even Episode 1. I have a few questions though, that I don't think have been asked before!!

1. Would you want an action figure based on your obscure character??

2. Would you want a figure of yourself, even if it was as a human character, not an alien??

3. Would you go to those Star Wars cons and autograph the thousands of pics and or figures the fans present to you??

4. What about the thousands of photos they would ask to take with them??

5. Would you quit your job to do the cons full time??

6. What would be your limit as to appearances??

Watto's Junk Yard / What posters do you have hanging up??
« on: December 7, 2004, 01:11 AM »
I don't think this question has ever been asked in any forum I have ever been to, and even though there is a more mature base over here, I'm sure some of you guys and gals have posters hanging up. If so, what are they?? Pics if you have em.

The only one I have here with me is the most adorable one I could find!!!

This is asked to those of us that were lucky enough to be around and old enough to collect the toy lines of the 80's.

My question is this, do you remember the stores you would get your figures and ships at?? What were they named??? Do they still exist??? And what fond memories, if any, do you have of shopping with your parents????

I'm just curious as to what others remember of thier childhood. I know I still remember a lot of the stores that I got my figures at. And for several of my toy lines, I can give you an exact store of where I got them from, can anyone else??? The main point is to talk about the memories of the good ole days. So the more stories the better!!!

Last thread befoer I head off to work. I brought this up I thik at GH, and it was received well, so I figured I'd ask again. So what was you character in Street Fighter II? And on that same note, another question, who was your character in Mortal Kombat?? And why did you you your characters???

Street Fighter II: Blanka
Why: I loved using him, I was nearly unstoppable with him. I remember walking into an arcade and this bigger kid was beating up all the younger kids, so being the instigator I plunked my quarteer in and beat him with two perfects. The guy skipped the next in line and played me again, again I beat his butt. Oh the kids were havng a blast watching me nail the big kid.

Mortal Kombat: Raiden
Why: I just thought he was a cool looking character. Never had seen anyone like him before. But if all else failed, I would turn to Sub Zero, the ultimate cheap character. ;D And their fatalities were sweet.

So who were your characters??

« on: June 13, 2003, 11:38 AM »

The Divinyls: I Touch Myself

Now some of you downunder may say, what I may be talking about, but here in the states that was there one big hit. They may had a following before and after, but it was this song that made them a name here. Anyways I love this song, and wish I could get a copy w/o having to buy the whole album.

Well today I finshed my schoolwork early and I decided to do a lil shopping with my mom before class started. Well I walk into Target and lo and behold what do I see, but Robin Hood Prince of Thieves on DVD!!!! I flipped, it's one of my favorite movies and I didn't know it was being released. It's a two disk set with 12 minutes of never before seen footage added back into the film. The customary 5.1 surround sound and DTS surround sound, digitally remastered print, commentaries by the main actors, making of documentary, old interviews of the actors from when the movie came out, and some more stuff. The movie has been out on DVD, but like the original Tombstone DVD, it was bare bones, but now both Tombstone and Roin Hood have spiffy Special Editions!!!!!! I know what I am doing when I get home tonight!! I figured alot of you like this movie, so definatly go out and pick it up. Oh and I only saw it at Target
