Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Metallica Rant
« on: May 19, 2003, 12:06 PM »
I got into Metallica briefly right around And Justice for All and the Black album after that though it went to crap and I was immensly turned off by the whole deal.  Some bands grow into something awesome others make choices that don't turn out so hot.    I really don't see them as being relevant any more in music as metal went the way of the dodo around '94 and I don't see it coming back.  As much as the black album gets slagged I still think it is an awesome group of songs

It is so cool though Thomas that you've been there all along.  Sorry too see what has happened to them :'(

Dark Side is one of those discs you could listen to over and over again, I'm not as big into the Wall but it also is very good.  Me and my buddies used to go to a laser light show at the Minneapolis Planetarium of The Wall, very cool...

I was attending a wedding all weekend so I didn't get to offer my condolences to the Wild :(  Good luck better luck next year.

This all comes along with the news that Red McCombs is threatening to move the Vikings to LA...why not just move the whole damn state there

For the finals I like the Ducks over the Devils...Giguere is just too hot to be stopped right now

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Rank the Star Wars movies!

ESB Contains the Battle of Hoth, Cloud City, Yoda and Boba's first appearance and the asteroid chase, plus the best set in the entire Saga in the carbon freeze chamber.  Plus the ICe Cream Maker Guy

AOTC  I sat through this entire movie and smiled and I smiled even bigger when it was done.  I am not sure what it was because most people (including most of you people) don't rank it very highly.  I thought Hayden as Anakin was awesome, I loved Dooku and his whole role, the effects and mystery story were awesome and the last 45 minutes of the movie just fly by.

ROTJ  Jabba makes this movie for me, I love the whole first act, the middle drags a little too much, but then the end makes up for it.  I am an Ewok lover though so I can put this ahead of ANH ;)  I also tear up almost every time Luke sets the pyre on fire (where is that figure BTW Hasbro)

ANH  Maybe its because I never really saw it in the theater.  Maybe its because I watched it way to many times on video.  Maybe its because I think it is the most dated of all 5 movies.  The updated SE Space Battle though is kick arse and that wacky SW bar is one to remember

TPM  One has to be last sadly and like most it is TPM.  In general I like this movie, I love the final duel, I love the Niemoidians.  The Pod Race is awesome, albiet a 20 minute Video Game commercial.  I generally like Jar Jar and the Gungans.   Tatooine drags horribly.  Jake Lloyd is terrible...how they searched through so many Anakin's and came up with this brat is beyond me.  Ewan is wasted and so is Natalie.  COuld have been better, no way could it live under its own hype.  A decent SW movie but not the best

Looks like tonight the Mom and I will be going to Friday's (a place that I used to incessantly tease people for frequenting until I went myself and tried their drinks). I will no doubt have several Junebugs (one of my favorite things on the planet).

I may have to tease you incessently now for drinking at Friday's :-*

No I am not going to smack off about my mad skillz, but...

Walked into Wal-Mart this morning and was greeted by a wall of green figures, there are two different ones and like the ones at Target and TRU appear to be going nowhere fast.

How long before Wal-Mart finally gets rid of these Pegwarming radioactive figures (I still see Grinch figs at TRU every year)

Saga '02-'04 / Re: What's up with availability
« on: May 19, 2003, 09:53 AM »
Just was thinking this past weekend about one factor I hadn't considered: the economy

Retail right now is hurting, people aren't really spending and so retailers are going to be really cautious with what they buy.  If I were a toy buyer I too would cut way back on marginal non-movie year stuff.

While my team lost any chance of hoisting the Stanley Cup yesterday basically, I was able tonight to swing by the Mall of America and see the actual cup in person.  It was pretty cool, the line to take a picture with it was way to long though, especially with J-MAX in tow :'(
