Title: Indy Sales, Discounts, and Deals
Post by: Jeff on May 18, 2008, 09:25 PM
This week at TRU all 3.75" Indy figures (Basic and DLX) are "Buy 2, Get 1 Free".  That works out to about $5 each for the basic figs, even better than the Target coupon price!

I was able to grab 3x German Soldier 2-packs today for just $21.28 - about $3.50 per fig!  :)

Yep, by the time I got there they did not have much.  I did pick up the required 2 figures and got another free.  Nice deal.

I was able to take advantage of the sale yesterday.  I've been buying figures a few at a time.  Basically holding out for the best paintjobs I can find.  And yesterday it paid off as I was able to pick a few figures up.

My TRU only had the sale on Basic figs. Not that it mattered though, they only had 6 pegs on an endcap dedicated to Indy. ???

Yeah, one TRU had about six figures on two pegs shoved between The Hulk and Batman.

TRU.com is sold out of almost everything but deluxe, so I ordered 4 Indy cycles a Temple swing trap, and an Indy/horse set, taking my chances on paintjobs on the Indy figures of course.

Basic figures I wanted were almost completely sold out, even Marion, and all $20 vehicles gone...  :(  I was gonna get 3 German 4WD's but not now.  The truck was never even in the search for IJ stuff, so it was sold out before the sale I'm assuming.

No, but I got all the above for $50, so it wasn't really terrible either, shipped to my door and w/tax also, so you really can't beat that right now...

4 German cycles
1 Swing trap
1 Indy/horse

That's $60 before tax and gas to the store...  So $50 was a dream.

Target has their Indy toys on sale this week.  3.75" figures were $6.74 (I think), Deluxe $8.99, Whip and 12" $16.99 and the Galactic Heroes were marked down some also but I forgot to look at the price.

The games and Lego were also on sale but didn't pay close attention because I'm not picking them up.

I snagged a 12" Indy and Delxue German 2-pack.

Yes, I am.  Several of the early basic figures I'm waiting on, mostly because I want the relics as much as the figurs :-\  If I thought I could take my Indy's back and be sure I'd get decent paint jobs at that time I'd do that as well.  First two waves are plentiful locally.

I'm waiting on clearances so I can start to see wave 3 show up around here. How many Mutt Williams does one store need?

The ultimate peg warmer would be an Imperial officer with Mutt William's head.

As pissed off at Target as I am (read the ToD wave thread), I'll still help out the collecting community that Target has such a problem with by reporting that Indy basic figures are on 'sale' for $7.03. Deluxe figures are on sale for $7.99, Titanium Series and Adventure Heroes are $5.89 each. Sale ends Saturday.

Target still sucks balls. >:(

Given that I just got into this yesterday, the sale at Target was nice for me.  I was able to pick up 6 of the deluxe figures for $7.99 each.
Title: Re: Indy Sales, Discounts, and Deals
Post by: Jeff on October 15, 2008, 12:10 AM
I hit a few different Target stores today and the Indy prices were all over the map during this sale.  I saw...

- figures on sale for $7.03 (20% off $8.79)
- figures on sale for $6.39 (20% off $7.99)
- figures on sale for $5.55 (20% off $6.94)

Three different stores, three different prices.   ???

Target is usually pretty good about having standard prices at all their stores, but I guess that's not the case with Indy basic figures.  Must have something to do with which stores have tons of stock to go thorugh or something I guess... strange.

Yep... :(

Needless to say, I don't buy anything there, but that's the price.  Like I said, Target here in MN is all over the place, anywhere from $6.94 to $8.79 each.  I now avoid certain Targets because they have higher prices on stuff...

That's insane.  All the ones around here are 20% off of $7.99 at the moment.

Wal-Mart on the other hand is hit or miss.  Some are $6.94, some are $5.44.

Looks like an early version of TRU's Black Friday Ad (http://www.blackfriday.info/sales/toys-r-us-big-toy-book-black-friday-ad.html) has hit the net:

Indiana Jones Electronic Sounds Whip - $16.99
Indiana Jones Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Playset - $33.99
 Indiana Jones Vehicle & 3 Figure Set - $34.99

Nothing too impressive, just thought I'd pass it on...

edit: upon closer review, even though it's on a Black Friday site, the linked ad apparently is just an upcoming TRU ad and not the "official" Black Friday ad...  that's what I get for trusting stuff I read on the interwebs.  ::)

That ad is actually TRU's big 2008 Gift Book or Wish Book or whatever it's called catalog.  On the back page, there's a coupon that will get you a $10 gift card with a purchase of $75 or more.

So, you can go buy ten Mutt Williams figures and get a gift card, so you can get another Mutt, absolutely free!  Hell of a deal.

My local Target went clearance price on the 3.75" line this week; $3.80.  They also have the 12" on clearance for $10.98.

They even found a 12" talking Indy somewhere, we haven't had one of those in months.  The rest were all Mutt figures, though.

The 3" line were mostly Mutt w/ Snake and Indy w/ Rocket Launcher but there were a couple German Soldiers, Monkey Man, Sallah and Belloq.  I picked up the lone Young Indy on the shelf along with a German (can never have too many army builders).

No clearance on the vehicles, deluxe or Temple playset.  But if they're jumping the gun 2 weeks before Christmas then you can bet they want to be rid of this line.

Fodder is all I figure I'll be on the hunt for at Target...  Some good Jedi and "random schmuck" fodder in that line...  I'm hoping to get a couple Indy's to cobble together a couple Indy's we'll never get, like a decent Cairo Streets Indy.  I'd like some more Arab goons and thugs too...  The Germans aren't abundant here these days though so I'm not even thinking about army building.  Nor are the Russians, which would be nice at a cheap price...

The Russian Soldier is cool, to me, because he and DOvchenko (of course) are actually very accurate to WOrld War 2 Russians...  They, if you can get accurate weapons for them, make nice WW2 figures to go with my Germans, U.S. figures, etc.  Unfortunately weapons are in short supply.  The one Oktober Guard guy from GIJ has a Russian PPsh Sub Machine Gun, but that's about it.  Anyway, a little work like a bed roll and stuff, and the Indy Russians are quite spiffy looking WW2 figures, so maybe I'll luck into some of those.

Overall though I'm just gonna look for fodder...  I doubt I find much as Target's picked over here, but I'll check.

Since the clearance hit on the 3 and 12" figures my store has found 4 or 5 cases of the Last Crusade wave.  I'm not sure if they were in the back or if more came on the truck.  Either way, it would have been nice (for Target anyway) if they'd gotten them two months ago rather than keeping their 6-month old stock out.

Yesterday Target also set up a whole aisle of 30% off stuff (in some cases more than 30%) and what did they have?  Two dozen 12" Indy figures for $10 each.  All Indy, whip action Indy and Mutt.  No Germans or Cairo Swordsman.  I have no idea where they came from because we haven't seen an Indy in that store since June.  Again, if they were sitting on them in the back, shame on Target, because the Indy figures at least would have sold before now, I'm sure.

No sales at all on Indy around Pittsburgh.  Targets have not put anything on sale or clearance at all.  Still the SOS on the pegs and shelves.  Typical really considering that I don't think they've put out the Star Wars UBP's yet either.  I kid you not at least some of the stores still had them in the back room last I checked. :)

I got 15 or so figures tonight for $1 each.  Good deal.  Mostly Mutt's available but I got 4 Germans, some Cairo Swordsman, a Belloq, and such.  I grabbed some jacketless Mutts because they're cool fodder, and I got the last whipping Indy (last figure I needed, refused to pay more than $1, mission accomplished) and Ugha Warrior too.  No Russian Soldiers, no Cemetary Warriors, no Marions, no Monkey men.  I really was hoping to get some of the above except for Marion, but those all dried up here quickly!  It was surprising those weren't available for clearance at all here.

Ironically they had Germans with motorcycles, a figure I couldn't find for along time...  They were still $7.

Anyhoo, the stockpile is awesome but I haven't a clue what all of it is gonna be used for.

I found a pile of $1 figures at our local WM too, but it was all the two versions of Mutts (probably 7-8 of each) and 1 Belloq.  I was sort of hoping to pick up some others as well, but wasn't necessarily interested in these.  I'm really happy that we got the figures we did, and I enjoy the Indy collection, but its amazing how quickly this line fizzled out.  Heck, there's still a section for the crappy 5" Dark Knight figures (granted the movie is/was uber popular), but the Indy stuff is long forgotten.  On the other side of things though, it seems like the LEGO sets are still going strong.

I missed out on a bunch of $1 German soldiers at my local WM.  Matter of fact, someone cleared out everything but Mutt and a couple Young Indy figures at that price.  But tonight I stopped by another WM store and found some Ugah Warriors and picked up five of those, a Monkey Man, Cairo Swordsman and Sallah and paid $0.02 more than for one Star Wars figure.   :P

Left a bunch of Mutt figs at that store along with one or two Sallah figures and a Swordsman.  So, basically, all that's really left locally are a bunch of Mutt figures.  Although my local store has two Deluxe Indy w/ Ark figures for $7.  I'm tempted to pick up another one of those just to have the Ark and the Indy for a headswap.  Maybe Monday when I stop in there.

So I mosied on into a second Big Lots tonight and got another canvas top truck...  This store had a TON of stuff though.  They had probably 3 full sets of TLC figures, 2 trucks, 2 cutters, and almost all the Deluxe.  The only Deluxe Set I didnt' see was the German w/cycle.  I bought a German 2 pack, thug 2-pack, and the truck...

I saw the Indy traps sets, horse w/Indy, Ark w/Indy...  They didn't have Marion/Thug either, come to think of it, but that was it.  They had lots of TLC figures, a few Raider Indy figures, and that was it, but they had a LOT.

I've heard TOD figures were maybe found somewhere, so keep an eye out I guess.  I'd like a couple Thuggee extras and another Mola Rahm if I can nab one, so those are my goals right now if I get to other BL stores.

Again I only saw TLC figures and older stuff, no TOD.  I'm bummed on that, as I have heard one report of TOD figures showing up, and I'd love more Thuggees and an extra of Mola/Indy.

Indiana Jones ornaments at Hallmark are 60% off (should be everywhere) this week, and for those of you still wanting to make your Indy displays cooler, the Indy figure is to-scale to the action figures more or less.  He can be pryed off the base with the fertility idol, and so you have a very detailed and nice fertility idol base with an electroplated idol, that plays music, for $7.50.

I bought one and it really nicely replaces the Hasbro set which lacked the crispness of the ornament.

Just my personal opinion but I enjoy it a lot.

All our Hallmark stores won't put these on sale locally as these are considered collectibles.  :'(

No ****?  That sucks.

LMK if you want one, and if I see one I can nab it for you Brent.

Locally ornies tend to get gobbled up as soon as they hit 50%, which is usually the week following Christmas.  I was really hoping to get some others on sale because of the prices but I missed the duel one I wanted, and for some odd reason Robby the Robot was all gone.  WTF?

Anyway PM me if you're wanting one and I'll try to get one for you while I'm out or I'll ask Diane to nab one since she's near the mall and probably there is one or two left there.  They were like $7.50 I think at 60% off.

Well it turns out I was able to get one at 50% off after all ($12 and taxes here).  The rules are apparently that only ornaments that fall into specific "Series" are included in the no sale rule.  Indy didn't meet that criteria, nor did the Trek ornaments and stuff like that.  Star wars ornaments do fit that and the box actually has the word "Series" right on it so you can differentiate.  So Palpatine was there, but not on sale, while I could have bought a tricorder with no problem.  Wacky.  But it was nice to get the Indy ornament.  Thanks for the offer of the assist Jesse.

Not a problem!  Glad you got one, it's pretty slick.
