I've never bought any apparition Vader, why start now?
From my point of view the Jedi are evil! I'm not sure they could've picked a less interesting scene for a 3 pack from the OT.
-
It'd be nice if they did three packs with mostly new figures that we've never seen before.
-
I always thought it was a giant hollowed out tree stump, not a cave. Silly me!
-
Shoot, I was kind of hoping they’d be carded like the Skiff Guards. Like this, it’s an easy pass.

"Listen to Obi-Wan you should. Remember your failure in the cave!"
It's an interesting set. I liked this update of the Dagobah Force spirit Vader. And it looks like we're getting better likenesses of Luke and Yoda in this set. Too bad Luke doesn't have the right costume for the actual confrontation in cave. ::)

I'm on the fence on this one. New head on Luke is nice, but the arms are so wonky on this sculpt. New head on Yoda is really nice (if the deco comes through in final product) but $40 for a nice new yoda head when I have so many Yoda figures already... might just wait and see on this set.

So that's all that's new? The heads on Luke and Yoda? This photo-real face stuff is really piling on in terms of variant collecting. ::)

Agreed. And it seems like we've been presented with an onslaught of new or retooled Luke figures this year: Stormtrooper, X-wing pilot, Jedi, Yavin, Dagobah. I wonder which one is coming next?

The photo-real update DS2 Duel Luke from Wave 5 came out this year too. And Crait Luke (but he was all-new and not a resculpt/update).
Sure are giving Luke a nice big send-off to celebrate the end of the Skywalker Saga.

I certainly wouldn't mind retooled versions of farmboy luke (with all the trappings) and Bespin Luke (a regular and damaged version). Then I could pretty much call Luke "done."
Though if they wanted to get crazy, they could do Snowspeeder Luke and Hoth Luke. Honestly, the face tech is so awesome I'm a total sucker for it. Plus, the old versions get recycled for customs, so it's not a huge deal.
Han and Leia really need some more face love though. Bespin Han and ANH Leia in particular, but General Leia and ROTJ Han are much needed too.

Found this set at Target today. Glad to have it out of the way, but the Luke face sculpt and paint is pretty rough. This set didn't need to happen.
-
I'm super slow, but it finally occurred to me, without have read any reviews, that the Luke isn't even the proper Luke for that scene. I was okay with it before. Now I'm "somewhat dissatisfied." :P

It's a lazy set in more ways than one.

Is the Yoda any good?
-
I always feel like the cloth robes on Yoda come out clunky, but sure. Is it some kind of improvement over previous versions? Probably not.
-
It looks like TVC Yoda which is an awesome sculpt.
-
I picked up this set last night. Luke looks just okay if you ignore the arms. But the aesthetic of the arms definitely suffers because of the mechanical reality of the articulation.
-
I have been excited about this set since it was announced. I did not get 2nd openers of either figure when they were released in the Black Series and I had always wanted to be able to pair them up with Yoda riding on Luke's back.
While I agree with what everyone has said regarding Luke's arms, if you do set him up with the pack on his pack and Yoda in the pack, and then have Luke's arms posed so that they are folded back and his hands looking like they are clasping the shoulder straps of the backpack, as a figure display, it does look quite good, so I'm sure that's what Hasbro was going for with this figure.
The one way this three pack could have been better is if they had packaged it up like the Skiff Guards and individually carded each figure on a TVC cardback.

I’m kind of torn on this set. On one hand, I rarely ever pass on an OT item in that beautiful vintage packaging. On the other hand I can’t say I’m overly excited for the set outside of the Yoda. That real scan has really made all the difference in both scales of figures, and has me (re)buying a lot of them.

I'm hoping to pick up another of these sets, albeit on clearance. Mostly to get another Yoda.
