I love Chiss. This turned out great. I like the drybrushing you did on the pants. You mixed the Obi-Wan and Kit Fisto pars together very well. The skin is very smooth too. I really like the Blue Cloak too, it is nice to see a Jedi who likes colors other than browns and whites. :)

Very cool and very original, great work!
What head did you use?  It looks familiar but I can't place it...
Why not give him a dark blue "outer tunic" to match his robes?  (By outer tunic I mean the softgoods on the Ep. II Evolutions Anakin)

Looks great!  There's something about blue skin and white hair that makes me think of Star Trek though, I think there must have been an alien race in ST with those colors...

thanks for the great comments guys! it is a gijoe duke head. i had thought about doing his tunic in blue but i don't have one to mach the robe right now and i didn't want to use the same blue i used for the skin. i may paint the tunic in the futre, but for now i'm happy with it. i don't know if there was a blue alien race in startrek with the same colors, i never watched startrek. i was gunna go with black hair, but i thought white set the head apart from the other jedi i have. thanks again!

Wow! This is a very good custom. The paint is flawless. And I love the blue cloak. Did you just dye it or what? Im curious. A very good mix of parts as well.

Great job on this, it reminds me of a Chiss species.

I never thought that a Duke head would work out well for Star Wars, this goes to prove that I was wrong.

metal jedi: no i didn't dye it, it is a hand made cloak. i'vr recently been trying my hand at sewing custom cloaks. i have about a dozen that i've made(some better than others). there is a couple that are really good though. i'am trying to find somthing to soften up the material to make it hang mor naturaly to the figure, but i haven't found anything yet. once i get my technique down to where i'm happy with the look and if there is anyone interested, i was considering offering my cloak making services to fellow board members, but we'll see!

originally i was thinking of this figure as a chiss, but chiss have red eyes and i reall ylike the eyes the way they are, so i may have to change this charecters spiecies.

thanks for all the great comments guys, i really appriciate it and i really enjoy being on the boards here!

That's cool that you're teaching yourself how to sew.  I tried sewing a cloak for a custom Leon the Professional figure ... with disasterous results  ;)
I did teach myself how to braid for all of the Boba Fett Wookie Scalps that I've had to make recently  ;D

I was thinking the same thing. I'm not a fan of ST, but I remember seeing a figure that had blue skin and white hair, and this reminded me of that guy.

But it looks really good, the paint job on the face makes it look as though it was molded in blue. Great job on getting the paint on nice and even and smooth.

And the custom sewn cloak is neat too... what kind of material did you use for it?

Here is another of my custom Jedi. I like the way it turned out, he has a dark look to him. Anyhow, hope you guys enjoy and as always feel free to leave any comments or suggestions, thanks! :D

Jedi Padawan: Booka Zen Dee
Spieces: Human
Lightsaber color: Purple

Booka is Padawan to Jedi Master Pas Ayudda (custom). Booka has the natural ability to be in plain site and remain unoticed, which makes him well suited for undercover and infiltration missions. He is a great admirer of Jedi Master Mace Windu, which is why he chose to have a purple lightsaber. Booka Fights alongside his Master during the Clone Wars on Dantooine, where both the Padawan and his Master are killed during the issue of Order 66.

Thanx Master_Phurby.

Here's another custom Jedi. I really like the way this one came out, except for the legs. They are way to straight and the figure won't stand on it's own, but oh'well!!! Hope you enjoy and as usual feel free to leave any comments or suggestions

Jedi Master: Pas Ayudda
Spiecies: Chagrian
Lightsaber color: Blue

Pas is Master to Jedi Padawan Booka Zen Dee. Pas is a very resourceful Jedi and a great military tactian, he prefers to utilize his lightsaber rather than his negotiating skills and is one of the Jedi Orders most skillful swordsman. He serves as a General during the Clone Wars fighting the Seperatist with his padawan alongside him. Pas and his padawan where killed during the issue of "Order 66" while fighting on the plains of Dantooine.

Thanks bjarkerr, i appriciate it. It was hard to match the coloring of the head.

One more for today! This is Jedi Knight Max Raffe. Not a whole lot of work here, a simple parts swap. But I think all the parts went good together and makes a good traditional looking Jedi. Enjoy and comments or suggestions are welcome!

Jedi Knight: Max Raffe

The parts look like they go together very well, nice job yet again.   ;D
I'll say what CHEWIE would say, have you thought about drybrushing this guy?  I think that would make him look very cool, especially with his "flowing" cloak.  As he is, of course, he fits in perfectly with hasbro's other jedi (i.e. clean).

I think maybe do a light brown wash over the tunic and then drybrush a light tan.  For the outer cloak, you could probably get away with doing 1 highlight of light brown, although doing a wash or a few levels of highlights would look better.

Here are a few more of my custom Jedi. As always feel free to leave any comments or suggestions and enjoy!

Jedi Knight: Jonas Tac
Spieces: Human
Lightsaber Color: Double Bladed Blue

Jonas is a very skilled jedi in the art of swordsmanship. He is proficient in 4 differents lightsaber Forms, but prefers Form 3. Jonas has mastered the use of the double bladed lightsaber and has chosen to carry one. He achieved knighthood after surviving the Battle of Geonosis, in which his master was killed. During the Clone wars Jonas fought in several systems and was one of several Jedi in an attack group sent to Dantooine, where he and almost all of the other Jedi in the attack group where killed by thier Clone Troops when "Order 66" was issued.

Jedi Knight: Eklor Macco
Spieces: Duros
Lightsaber Color: Green

Eklor is a very quite Jedi and very in touch with the Force. He spends much of his time meditating but is often called upon by the council to ajudicate in meetings between fueding factions on other worlds and assists the Courasant Security force in solving crimes. Eklor has been a Jedi Knight for many years and has not been granted the rank of Master because he is hinndered by his own quest to understand the subtleties of the force and his place in it, through his own fault, he is unable to progress. None the less, he is a very powerful and respected Jedi. Eklor, along with dozens of other Jedi, was in the Jedi Temple when ,the newly "Lorded", Darth Vader stormed the Jedi Temple with a liegon of Clones. Though he fought valiantly, Eklor and the rest of the Jedi in the temple where destroyed.....

Jedi Master: Taloo Uzak
Spiecies: Shistavanen Wolfman
Lightsaber Color: Blue

Combining his natural super sense of smell and hearing with the Force, Jedi Master Uzak has one of the most skilled Jedi to ever wield the power of force awarness. Uzak has a very powerful connection to the Force and great control over it. During the Clone Wars Master Uzak became one of the Jedi Generals to command Clone troopers across the galaxy. He lead the Republic to several major victories and even crossed sabers with Count Dooku, nearly defeating him, when Dooku used a group of refugees to cover his escape. Uzak fought on bravely during the clone wars, but was gunned down by the Clone troopers he lead when "Order 66" was given.

That's it for now, I hope to have a couple more up soon!

Most impressive.  I'll comment on each figure -

Jonas Tac -

Cool name for him, I like the use of the Windu body and the hands.  Is that a GI JOE Duke head?  I might paint the overall figure just a bit, but other than that I think it's great.  And I like the double edged lightsaber, not something you see too much of.

Eklor Macco -

Great idea for a custom.  Very smooth looking and realistic.  Looks like a great figure that you would see in the Jedi Temple.

Taloo Uzak -

The best of the bunch in my opinion because the Captain Typho torso looks so perfect for a Jedi.  I don't think I've seen anyone think of that before!  Great work!

Great looking customs!!  Nicely done, a very imaginative and clever use of various parts.  I never liked the ROTS Mas Amedda figure at all, but the head works far better on your custom than on the actual figure!

My only minor criticism:  the use of the "generic human jedi" arms for Max.  They look decent, but they're so rigid and limited.  But, if you're just posing the figures, it looks fine.

Great work!  I look forward to seeing more of your efforts!

Crap!  I missed the two on the first page.  EXCELLENT painting job on the Chiss jedi.  It really looks terrific!

And I like the accessorries/accoutrements on the 2nd jedi.  I dislike the homogenity of most of the Jedi we see in the films, all with brown robes and tan tunics, so it's nice to see some with some flair and some different accessories.  I'm not sure about the "camo" kerchief, though...a more neutral color might look better.  But that's a very minor nitpick.
Title: Re: jedistyle's Custom Jedi: Updated Sunday 10/10
Post by: jedistyle on October 9, 2005, 08:26 PM
Chewie - Thanks for the compliments and suggestions. I actually considered painting the Jonas figure, but i decided not to, because I thought the colors where actualy pretty cool and the under tunic matched the color of the figures hair, the head is from a gijoe Scalpel figure.

Quazar - Thanks for feedback, I see what you mean about the Booka figures facekerchief having that camo look. It was actualy meant to look like weathering, but it didn't quite come out as I'd hoped. That was actualy one of my first Jedi customs.

Here is another of my custom Jedi. He is an already established charecter, which I don't often do customs of. His hair is made from soft goods as is the cloak, which I made. When I made this figure I imagined it as part of the Clone Wars figure line, hence the armor. The body came out a bit misproportioned, but over all I'am very pleased with the way this figure came out, it is one of my favorite of my customs. So here it is.....

Jedi Master: Quinlan Vos

You must post a recipe and steps that you took to make this!  The only thing I might do to that is paint it a little to weather it just a bit.

Wow!  Most impressive - take a bow for this custom!

thanks chewie, his armor is weathered to look battle damaged and there is some very light weathering on his tunic , but i haven't been able to find a good color to weather him with yet, any suggestions? here is the recipe-

head: gijoe spytroops duke[ the hair is made from th string from the grappnel claws that came with thr rots clone commander]
torso, skirt, pelvis: rots kit fitso
arms: gijoe spytroops ripper
legs: clone wars anikin skywalker

thanks again chewie, i always appriciate your feedback and suggestions.....

Very nice! The only addition I would make would be one or two strands of "hair" that hang down into his face.

This is an amazing combo of parts! Although not comic accurate exactly, it's still instantly regognizable as Vos. Great work.

Sure, for a suggestion I say may him look dirty and grimy... actually, he probably needs a short goatee/beard going too to give him some chin stubble.

For the weathering, I would practice first on another figure if you aren't too used to it yet.  Maybe a mixture of colors - white, brown, yellow, black - different shades of different levels of the color usually works for me.

Jonas Tac -

Nice looking figure, I really like the lighsaber, the blue blades are added seamlessly and the gold trim looks good. Like CHEWIE said I think I'd repaint him a bit and do some drybrushing.

Eklor Macco -

Fairly simple custom but it was executed nicely.

Taloo Uzak -

Again I agree with CHEWIE, the Typho body was an excellent choice, I've never seen that before.

Vos-

A little weathering and and a stray dreadlock or two and he is near perfect. I really like the softgoods hair, i'm not really a huge fan of JOE arms, I don't like the way the jonts look, but I think they fit in well with this custom.

Jedi Master: Nasrra Karr-

Nice I might paint him a little so that his uniform doesn't look so much like Plo Koon's since his is fairly unique.

Jedi Knight: Ralo Sudae-

I like the choice of parts I think I'd change the skin tone on himj so he doesn't look like his CW counterpart.

Jedi Knight: Rykrof Enloe...... I mean Accre Jo  :) -

I like the coloring on the robes, it isn't my favorite body in the world, it is a little too preposed, but since he is just a background type character/dio filler, I think it's fine.

On a sidenote, I think you need to start using some other head for your human customs, the Duke head looks good on all the figures you've used it on so far, and you've done a good job of changing it up enough, but you don't want all of your humans looking like clones. ;)

WOW, what a great collection of Jedi!
That Vos turned out really well, definitely one of the best 3 3/4" Vos's that I've seen.  I didn't realize that the G.I. Joe arms were compatible with Star Wars figures.
Great use of parts on all of your Jedi, you're giving me a lot of ideas...  ;)

ryan - thanks for the great compliments snd the helpful suggestions. i've been doing my best withweathering but i'm having som trouble. some of the figures i weather come out great and i've ruined a couple after completeion trying to weather them, which is a bummer. so i'am sort of reluctant to try it on figures i like, especialy my jedi. i do agree though, and hope to get some decent weathering on these recently shared jedi soon. if you have any weathering suggestions, i'd sure appriciate it. chewie gave me some good tips, but it's still kickin' my @$$!!!

gregorbian - thanks, i've been trying to build my jedi order up. i really like jedi and i hope to use most of them in a dio-story, if i ever am able acomplich it! i'm glad you dug the vos, it was a bit wierdly proportioned, butnone the less came out good. gijoe arms work well with rots torso's. if you just shave off the flat ends on the arm pegs the fit right in and can give different arms or more articulated arms to some of the figures. i'm glad i could give you some ideas and i appriciate your helpful comments, thanks again and i look forward to seeing more off your work soon!

Here are a few more customs I just finished. Hope you guys like them! I appriciate all the comments and suggestions on my other customs and as usual feel free to leave more.

I wanted this to be Jedi Master Tholme originaly, but I had some trouble with the hair( i'm no good with sculpy). I'm still really happy with the way it turned out though. I guess it's my clean shaven Tholme with a hair cut! :D

Jedi Master Tholme

This is the head of a freelance organization that deals in smuggling, arms dealing and information trafficing. I really like the way he turned out, simple but cool.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

One of the greatest and most fierce Wookie warriors on all of Kashykk, Rakka comes from an old tribe that live low in the trees, near the Shaddow lands where they often hunt.  Rakka's tribe pride themselves on battle and brute force. Rakka fights along side the Jedi General's and others Wookie brothers in the Clone Wars.

Tholme is a good Jedi custom, but I wouldn't have guessed it was Tholme unless you listed him as such. I'd use him as a different Jedi and keep working of finding the best pieces for Tholme. Did you swap out the legs, or are they just Eeth Koth's repainted? I can't tell.

Tazer is a good use of parts, I like that he's just a "Regular joe" type custom. You picjked a good head for a bad guy, too...that Spytroops Blackout head always has creeped me out with it's beady little eyes.

Rakka is easily my favorite. Great paint app, nice detailing and a good selection of parts that look like something a Wook might wear. Can we get a parts list on this one?

Tholme looks a bit young.  ;D I used a Tarkin head for my Tholme custom. But the Sculpy I used for his ponytail broke. I have to fix it.

I love the Wookiee, its always cool to see those customs. And the base figure is the best.

Tazer looks like Mark Hamill.  ;D Good use of parts. I like all these customs but on Tholme like DD said I would call him someone else for now.
Title: Re: jedistyle's Customs: Updated Saterday 10/15
Post by: jedistyle on October 16, 2005, 06:00 PM
DD- Thanks for the comments. I thought the head looked good for Tholme, but I guess the long hair and scrufy face are what really make him reconizable. I probably will use him as a different jedi, until I can get some parts to make him look more like Tholme.

I've always like that Blackout head, but never had really the right custom to use it on.

The wookie is a sneak preview wookie warrior base figure, which I know you Knew, all of the armor and swords are from a "Battle Gear" Leonardo Ninja Turtle. I just cut the straps shorter and cut the armor to fit. The gun is from an Adventure Man figure that I  got at Rite Aid for a buck. Thanks again for the comments and suggestions, I appriciate it.

MetalJedi- If you have any pics of your Tholme I like to see them, I never even thought of a Tarkin head, sounds cool. I really suck with sculpy so I have trouble making hair/ponytails etc...

Thanks for the suggestions and comments!

Tholme - Pretty good.  I never really had too much interest in this character, but it's a good version of him.  Maybe a small dry brush might look good on him.

Tazer - Wow, that's a nice figure!  Very original design, and looks like he could fit in well with almost any Star Wars environment.  One of your best customs I think.

Wookiee - Easily one of the best Wookiee Warriors I've ever seen anyone make.  He looks tough and mean.  And well prepared for any battle.

Excellent update, my favorite is Tazer.

I have to echo Chewie on this one, the Tazer is really nice. What did you use for his coat?
But i have to say that wookie is the best fo the bunch.
Love the paint job and tha accesories.

Great figure.

Here is a few more Jedi for the Clones to mow down. I'm really happy with the way the rodian turned out, though i may have went over board with the weathering. I was going for that rough combat look, dust, scrapes near blaster misses, you know. The other 2 are ok. As always feel free to leave any comments or suggestions, I appriciate it!

Boy, you really make some excellent Jedi.

I love the Rodian and the bare-arm/armor guy.

And Tholme...not being up on EU at all, I figured this was an original creation.  It looks great, but I cannot comment on its resemblance to any source material.

My only complaint - not too jazzed about the nina-esque headgear on the last Jedi....looks almost too sinister.  But the rest is great, excellent and imaginative use of parts and some stellar painting.

Wow, you are truly getting good at this.  These are outstanding.

Rodian Jedi -

One of the absolute coolest Jedi customs I've EVER seen.  The clone shin plates are a perfect touch for him.  Everything about him is excellent, from the fine details of the parts used to the paint color selection, to the weathering.  PERFECT!

Sleeveless Jedi -

Pretty cool too.  I like the use of parts.  He could use a little bit of weathering/dry brushing I think, but other than that it's great.

Masked Jedi -

Great use of that head from some sort of dollar figure.  It works really well... I've had plan on using some of these too for a different idea, but haven't gotten around to it.  The painting of the tunic really offsets it and gives it detail.  Excellent work.

Quazar - thanks! i really appriciate it. here is a little bit of back story on the ninja jedi's charecter to show why i made him like that.

Jedi Padawan Baz Randa fought in a few of the early battles of the clone wars. In one of these battles he was a bit overzelous and disobeyed the orders of his Master in an attepmt to capture Count Dooku. Baz role in the battle was small but vital, setting up and holding a blocking position along a main route in the city under siege by the Seperatist. Because Baz disobeyed his Master and the route was left open, a battalion of Battle Droids breached the Republic forces lines and 2 Jedi as well as several hundred clones where killed and the city was taken. The Jedi Council saw fit to expell Baz from the Jedi Order. After he was expelled, Baz took up work with a mercenary group where he used his force talents to kill as the mercenaries became guns-for-hire in the Seperatists employ. During another battle Baz was aiding th Sepratist in, he came face to face with his former Master. Niether willing to back down they ingnited thier lightsabers and Baz journey down the dark path was over.....

so yea, i wanted him to look sinister. his look is meant to be after he fell to the dark side.

CHEWIE - thanks for the great comments, i really appriciate it! i really like the rodian as well. i tried to weather the clone armor jedi, i actually weathered his torso alot, it just didn't come out well..... oh well mabey the next one will be better!

Great Jedis!
I really like the "Jedi Knight" with the bare arms and clone gauntlets.  Was that a Jedi vs. Sith Battlepack Anakin base figure?

The Rodian Jedi looks really cool, nice job on the weathering!   Do his legs retain their articulation?

I definitely love that Wookie Warrior - the accessories work perfectly.  He looks like he would be able to hold his own against a whole legion of battle droids.
Great work all around!

It has been a while since I have posted any of my customs. Unfortunately I have been horribly busy, I'm getting ready to go over seas again! But I have a handful of customs I'm hoping to have up in the next 2 days.... Here are a couple of Jedi, just some re-vamps of older customs, weathering more paint, you know. As always suggestions and comments are appriciated, hope you enjoy them!

- Originaly this figure was just a Clone Wars Mace Windu bady with a different head and hands, no paint or weathering. CHEWIE suggested more paint apps and after leaving it for a while I decieded that was a good idea! So here is the first jedi.

- This is really one if not the favorite of my custom Jedi, I think it was actually my 3rd attempt at a custom Jedi. I didn't really change anything parts wise, but I really over did it on the clear coat when I first made him and in an effoert to tone it down, I repainted the face, gave him some weathering which unfortunatley dosn't look as good on the pic as it does in person, and spreyed him with a matte clear finish. So here goes.

I really like that first jedi. The double blade lightsaber and cloak are fanastic! The choice of colors is well done. I like how you made the edges look older by using a different color.

The second is good but I don't like that face. The expression is too dazed and somber looking. Otherwise, I like the unique helmet you used. It like a jedi training helmet.

Good update Eric.  Going overseas again?  Be careful and keep in touch if you can.

First Jedi - Wow, this really rocks.  The paint looks perfect, and it's a good combo of parts.  Really a cool look for a Jedi, I love the design here, and his double bladed lightsaber is great - especially the gold tips on the handle.  Wow!

Second Jedi - Don't be hard on yourself, this is still a good custom and creative.  I don't mind the head on him, but to me the headgear seems better reserved for some sort of pilot.  Or it almost looks like a brain control device of some sort?

Cool Jedi, I really like that first one - the cloak is great!  Was that a modified existing cloak or did you make that from scratch?
I like the exposed arm on the second jedi - how well does it stay in place?  I've got tons of Gung-Ho figures with that arm and if I can pop it into a swivel joint then my custom-options have broadened immensely!

thanks for the comments guy's, i really appriciate it.

CHEWIE- i was really happy with the way the first jedi turned out and i'm glad i re-did it, thanks for the suggestion. the second jedi is one who is very reliant on technology, so i gave him the helmet. it does look a bit off, but i think i like it. thanks for the comments, i appriciate it!

Gregorbian- it's been a while, glad to see you again. the black cloak is from a jabba's palace otc luke, i cut the wrap around sides off. the gung-ho arm actually stays in place very well on the second jedi. when i do move it i'am careful, but if it comes out it can be put right back in! so customize away with all those gijoe parts!

Another great set of customs.  Out of the bunch, Dun Ruuco is my favorite. Tthe Obi-wan head works really well and the color really make this figure pop. Great Job!

Nice update jedistyle.

Maza Tirka - My favorite of the bunch.  An overweight Twi'lek.  These guys are always trouble!  Great painting and the parts match up perfectly.

Dun Ruuco - A stellar paint job, but the head is just a bit too recognizable for me... I would try something a little different.  To me, Obi Wan heads usually only work for Obi Wan figures.

The others are good too, especially the Aqualish.  Great use of parts on him and nice backstory.  The thug looks like one of those guys Jabba has with him in the ANH Special Edition.  Love it!

Cool update, sometimes I get sick of clones, but not when it's from someone who makes a nice variety of customs like you do.  These look cool.

Republic Commando - Nice, I guess he's in phase one armor?  The black shoulder pads are a good touch.

Clone Intellegence Unit - I like this one too, how did you make that cool helmet?

CHEWIE - thanks for the comments, they are always much appriciated.

on the commando, i wanted to do a transition between phase 1 and 2 armor, so i gave him some extra armor on the shoulders and the kama. in retrospect, since the republic commando armor is way different, this should be a clone commander! :D

the intel clones helmwt was first shaved flat on top and the i cut a gijoe helmet from the anti-venom task force set to fit over it, then painted.

here is a small update, as usual i appriciate any comments or suggestion, thanks for checking out my custom's, hope you like! :D

POE TRANEL - As a former Senate Security Guard, Poe has great love and loyaltiy to the republic. He is an aggresive and motivated person who's discontent with the way The Senate and Supreme Chancelor where waging the Clone Wars lead him to strike out on his own as a Bounty Hunter, to bring those who would harm his beloved Republic to swift and deadly justice. Poe is a handsome and articulate man who use's these advantage's to get information from female Senetor's. As a Master Marksman, Scout and Unarmed Combatant Poe is a hard fight for anyone he deems a threat to the Republic...........

Very cool figure, and well articulated!  I like the use of parts of this one a LOT.  I would say, maybe do a bit more weathering to him, as he has a bit of a GI JOE feel to him in my opinion.  But really nice figure, I like it!

Nice customs JediStyle!

Poe Tranel - I love the unique paint apps, they turned out great.  The belted holster is a nice touch, it's cool and you don't really see it that often.  The Master Chief helmet rules!   ;D

Republic Commando - I like the accessories and that he's bridging the Mark 1 and Mark 2 armor.  I think maybe some sort of gear (antenna/head lamp/something else) would make him stand out a bit more.

Dun Ruuko - Great custom here!  Now I know what to do with all of those Cloud Car Pilots I bought!  ;)  The Obi-Wan head doesn't even remind me of Obi-Wan, I'm not sure what it is about the figure, but it works!

Gada Ponar - Very cool, we don't see enough Aqualish customs!  (I've never done one).  I like the parts choices too.
