Star Wars Dioramas and Displays / Re: Rancor Cave
« on: October 6, 2011, 07:18 AM »
That just looks stunning, Greg! Look at those boulder walls and that big ol' Rancor entering the area. You made the boulders from styrofoam, right? How did you shape those pieces?

And look at the contrast between little piggy desperately trying to get out of there, and Luke standing his ground, assessing the situation  :)

I didn't plan to start these before December, but since I had a batch of Fixit mixed, I thought what the heck and took a Ki-Adi Mundi head, sanded the sides and rear smooth and voila! Early WIP shots of the head sculpt for the Brothers, featured in the ultra cool video game Afro Samurai.

For reference, I turned to the wonderful galleries of CreativeUncut.com:

Things are looking better, already Jeff! I spread the word around here and there, so hopefully we'll have customizers regularly coming back here soon!

Got some new Star Wars figures in the works.

This first one will eventually be Mandalorian Novoc Vevut. I have a CW Boba Fett coming my way, hopefully in time, so I can make Ghes Orade out of him!

Heavy Mandalorian, inspired by Deviantist Vinom11. A very early WIP, the only thing I've done so far is make a Jango Fett helmet higher and sculpt the top part of the visor.

Arkanian smuggler, inspired by SWAG artist Travis Moore. I used the head, torso and legs of Ms. Marvel, arms of Juno Eclipse and the feet of (I think) ROC Scarlett:

Last in line is this female spacer, based on artwork by Deviantist Yoitisl. She's not a Star Wars character per se, but the population in the GFFA is quite diverse, so I thought, what the heck. Body is 25th. Ann. Lady Jaye, lower legs of 25th. Shipwreck (or Cutter), 25th. Cobra Cmdr. (Battle Armour) feet, custom cast helmet from Clonehead (still had that, yay!) with tubes from some ROTS Firespeede pilots' backpacks:

This is coming together quite nicely too, Phruby. Great shot of your kid with that big X-Wing. Reminds me of that time we call the 80s :)

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Extreme Makeover - MY home edition!!
« on: October 1, 2011, 02:45 PM »
Wow, that's some project you've got going there, Phruby! It all looks really beautiful, man. You should be proud of what's been achieved so far!

Friends of mine bought an old bicycle store several years ago and the guy also does almost everything himself in his spare time. He meticulously planned the entire rebuilding project and I don't believe he's encountered any setbacks (worth mentioning, anyway) so far. And after four years it all just looks splendid. Not finished yet, but splendid nonetheless.

Good luck with the rest of the makeover!

Photonovels and Movies / Re: Apocalypse - Part One

LOL, yes, I did read about Jez being different and quickly made a 1+1=2, but since this takes place in such a distant future, I wouldn't be surprised if the Force as we know it, evolved into something else entirely. I will eagerly wait and see, Jules!

Ow! Great to see you post this exciting first chapter of a completely new and different SW era, Jules! Already commented in more detail at Yakface, but I'll repeat here that I like this a lot.

After rereading it, I would like to add that despite the lack of the obvious SW references, this does feel like SW. I am very anxious to see if the Force is still around after all that time (side note: thousands of millennia is a tad long...  ;) ), or lightsabers for that matter....

I agree on the mask. It makes him look like a different character instead of Koon undercover. I like it. I wonder if that species comes in different skin colors?

It does, according to Wookieepedia: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Kel_Dor

Are these just lagging where you are or not even shipping to your country?  I have seen some of the older ones around and can maybe grab them for you.

That'd be sweet, JediJman! Pm'ed you regarding the lack of figures in my country.

I believe there was also a "Where's Iggy?" thing on another site, featuring a vintage IG-88. Long time ago, though.

Same here. Favourite childhood figure. Had two roles in my adventures, either as a bounty hunter or as Leia going under cover as a bounty hunter :D

The '06 figure is just fine, if you don't mind the wobbly blaster.
