Oh great, another "Wah! This figure is a POS!" thread. Wouldn't this be more suitable at the RS 30AC boards?

What's worse is that this same post, word for word, has gone up at a number of other sites.  Spamming sites with complaints?  Come on.

Totally unfair. Some At RS will post something that says ' this fig SUCKS.' but this thread was started with a lot of thought! Some of you cannot handle criticism!

To be fair, when I have posted something long and heartfelt, I have cut and paste my own subject to more than one board. How the heck does that equal spamming? It doesn't!!! Spaming implies there is nothing to say. That is NOT the case with this thread! I am so tired of some people jumping down the necks of others for NO REASON!

Thanks for the heads up; I never thought to remove these, but the first came off, no problem - decided not to try my luck after that...one is cool enough - this fig keeps getting better!

I figured this would be the best place for this, but I have noticed differences in how the Snowtrooper's helmet is painted - specifically the orange wash:

#1

date stamp: 70891 - helmet has heavy wash)

#2

date stamp: 70931 - helmet is lighter, but still has heavier wash)

#3

(date stamp 70991 - helmet has very light wash)

It's reall y pretty dern simple - just boil & pop on both figures. The shins come out real easy like. Did the same to mine. I just couldn't stand the DST legs (or arms for that matter - gonna have to change over the gloves like you have here)

Yep thats it.  there are no pockets below the knee on the DSG.  it may not be movie acurate but i think it looks better.  the legs from the DST dont look TOO bad on the DSG; atleast its not sacrificing one for the other.  the gloves from the DST dont fit so well on the DSG, so i'm just sticking to the leg swap.  i'm still thinking of expanding the recess on the dst legs to further hide the knee joints.

Wow, I had no idea the ball jointed knee would pop off like that! I will have to try it out Thanks, all!

What if you took a small section out of the boots?

thats what i wanted to avoid.  i'll take a pic of the dsg and dst mods

Heres the pic.  i also swapped the hands w/the DSG.  I'll probably go bac and recess the upper thighs on the dst.  the boots on the DSG are from the DST

How did you swap out the knees like that? I figured you did the whole leg, but I do not see the DSG pockes on yours?

I see nothing overly off about the TAC Stormie helmet.....looking at my pic, that is what they actually look like - when you post an IMAX size pic, everything looks weird.

The worst part is that I'm probably only half way there.   :-[   :)

You need help!  ;D

Rob your army is looking pretty impressive. BTW, I think I may have said this before somewhere but I love your counter tops. :)

:)

It's become a bit of a 'thing' now - so whenever I need an army picture, I try to take it there.

Dude, you are HARDCORE!!!!  ;D That is a might nice collection of Snowtroopers you have there!

Daigo-bahs custom rocks!

I wish Hasbro would do a mail away offer for this alternative head - I would pay shipping!

Just 4 so far.....I cannot believe people are complaining about this one - I love it!

My Walmart has a bunch of these, minus the Snowtrooper of course. And the first ten I looked at, all had the stickers cut out, already. I can't believe it. Some of the cases were just cut right open, and some looked a little better. But still, I stopped looking through the figures so I dont know if they were all like that or not. It is just really lame.

As for such a stupid mail-away too.

Finally found them at Wal-Mart today!  My patience paid off.  2 fresh cases on the shelves - so I also nabbed another 4 Snowtroopers.

Expensive habit.

I am up to 5 myself - 1 carded, the rest loose. I have three Ig-88s, three Bossks and two of the rest!

Matt, thanks for that tip, I'm gonna futz with that as I click post here...  Interesting technique to make a 100% better look, and appreciation, for the removable helmet.

I cannot wait for a hood for this guy though, honestly.  Be it a full head you pop on or whatever...  It's a must have for this figure.

EDIT:

Holy cow, that's night and day...  Thanks again Matt.  It's not an easy thing to pull off...  Takes a little fidgeting/working to get that hat's parts down in there.

Thanks, Glad I could help!  ;D  For most, try a Hairdryer - it will make the hood piece very soft and you will find this easier to do...! Now, the hood will limit movement, but it looks decent. I re-read what I said, and its confusing: for those that try this, make sure you pop Han's head off, pull the neck thingie off and then put his headgear on Han's head- then when that is done, (again, with the neck piece loose), stuff the headgear 'tailends' down into the neck piece, THEN place all of that back onto the neck joint! Its easy when done that way and if not, the hairdryer will solve all issues.

Here is my final pic with these two - I tweaked Han just a bit more - mainly, I cut off the excess brown plastic that lined the neck piece - that made it look sort of odd. I think he looks good with the lightsaber! I wouldn't mess with him.

Here is one last modification to make my Ig-88 look super dangerous! (I cut the end of gun off)
