The Holographic craze continues... first The Emperor, then Yoda, now Princess Leia?
According to the Official Site (http://www.starwars.com/collecting/shop/shopnews/news20050407.html) Holographic Princess Leia is this year's Comic Con Exclusive figure!
Though StarWarsShop.com will not be offering items to purchase at Celebration III, fans will get to preview some of items featured or soon to be available at the site:
- Hasbro Holographic Leia Prototype (Comic-Con 2005 Figure) (StarWarsShop.com exclusive)
Look for Leia to show up at StarWarsShop.com after the convention season is over.

Sweet! Glad I am goin'! :D
I like the Holographic figures better than the silver painted ones.
-
Its cool and all...but...why? They already did a Holo Leia in proper scale. I bought the Emperor Holo because he was a Holo in TPM. This one though sort of sucks. (Enter Bust Ups Complaints about making holo figures) Why not go for a new Spirit of Anakin or Yoda figure instead :-\
-
Why not go for a new Spirit of Anakin or Yoda figure instead :-\
Rumors have popped up that TRU will have a Holo/Spirit Anakin of some sort this summer or fall...
Jeff
-
Yeah, I guess I expect that to be the ROTS Holo version though, but I guess that was an assumption
-
Forgive me if there's some prior discussion on this elsewhere, but I didn't see any so I figured I'd start my first real thread here. Woot. So there's a Holographic Leia on the way finally, exclusive to Comic Con, but being distributed at Celebration III in a couple weeks too. To be honest, I've grown a little tired of all the holographic and spirit figures, but since Leia was the first person we ever saw in this form in the saga, I guess I'm a little more excited about it. Hopefully the get the pose right. I'll be buying one, how about you guys?
Ah, crap. I see there's a similar thread in the OTC forum. Feel free to lock or delete this one. Sorry!

-
Great, another figure to hope I can get a friend to track down a pair of for me at the Con that I can't attend...
-
At least the online shop will have the Leia it sounds like.
-
I am just happy the starwarsshop will have it since i cant go to the cons.
-
Agreed. Unfortunately I can't make it to the cons either (or Celebration III), so I'm glad that SWShop will have it eventually. It might be a cool figure, but they are kind of starting to push it with all of the holographic business. I suppose it is an easy enough (and cheap enough) "exclusive" figure to produce, and maybe that has something to do with it. I would say they could do something "spiffy" the way Palisades had figures like Indiana Kermit as their "tour exclusive", but then again, if it was an all-new, only available at the shows Star Wars figure, I have a feeling we'd have a lot of upset collectors if we couldn't find it. Probably better that it isn't something newly sculpted, and instead an old figure in holographic or silver form :).
-
Well that's good then.
But someone refresh my memory, when did leia appear as a hologram that wasn't a foot tall? We already have this figure, it came with Artoo Detoo one time, and was correctly scaled at that juncture.
-
Why is this Leia listed as a "prototype" at SWS.com?
Hasbro Holographic Leia Prototype (Comic-Con 2005 Figure) (StarWarsShop.com exclusive)
That seems a little strange, doesn't it? Any know what that's about, or do you think it's just a mistake?
-
To get back on topic for a moment (thanks Scott for straying >:( ), I plan on using my holo Leia to finally have a properly scaled version for my Droid Factory R2-D2!
-
I am confused....when was Leia ever shown as a full size holograph in the OT?
I only recall the little bitty one that R2 cast from his projector...
-
You're right Travis, that was pretty much it for her in Holographic form.
So a 4" Hasbro Holo Leia would probably work pretty well with that fancy schmancy $100 radio controlled R2 that they put out a couple years ago... 8)
-
Does anyone know when this figure will be available for order?
I hesitated with the holographic emperor and don't want to miss this one. I wonder if this figure will be in OTC packaging?

If it follows the trend of last year, the figure will first be available at the big Summer conventions - WizardWorld, SDCC, etc. Then, once the con season is over (August/September), the figure will go up on StarWarsShop.com to Hyperspace members first.
At least that's how it went for last year's Silver Sandtrooper and the Silver Fett the year before that, so I imagine it will be pretty much the same thing here...

What're the odds ... the day I bump this thread with an observation about a tangential subject, StarWars.com updates about the main topic:
Holo Leia Figure Debuts at Comic-Con -- Preorders Start June 1! (http://www.starwars.com/collecting/shop/shopnews/news20050531.html)
Looks like somebody finally learned a lesson from the gargantuan ****up known as CIII Vader. ::)
IMHO this isn't even that great of a figure sculpt. Precisely when did we ever see Holo Leia wield blasters?--not to mention two at once? Then there's the aforementioned scale issue. Bah, I say.
Anybody know what the price will be on these monstrosities? Like $19.99? ::)
I'm toying with the idea of ordering from StarWarsShop.com if there are any left, simply so I could say I got one ... but then my internal governor is kicking in and I ask myself ... "What for?"
Call me cynical, but it seems like the Exclusive tag is just being randomly applied as a way to move crap that would never sell otherwise. In my book the only good exclusives of 2005 are Holo Yoda, Green Anakin Starfighter, and the Kohl's bonus fig sets.
-
Is anyone going that can pick an extra one up? I am planning on going to the Phili Con, but i think this is only as SDCC.

Holo Leia Figure Debuts at Comic-Con -- Preorders Start June 1! (http://www.starwars.com/collecting/shop/shopnews/news20050531.html)
June 1:
This product is currently unavailable.
Anybody get a pre-order placed already, or has it been like this all day? Just curious if these pre-orders already sold out, or if it's worth checking back in later on.
-
I've been checking and either I missed it completely or it's not up yet.
-
I checked it out earlier before the GG crap and it came up "This product is currently unavailable".
Knowing my luck, it will come on when I go to bed soon.
If it does come up, can someone get me one please (2 would be great). I know I'm going to miss it. :-\
-
Need 2 of these bad boys can anybody help me please ;D.

This pre-order is just for SDCC pick-up right?
I was under the impression that this was all this was, a way for you to stand in the "Pre-Order" line instead of they "buying line" (although the lines will probably be equally long ::)).
No use pre-ordering if you don't plan to be there to get your order...
"Fans who pre-order this figure must pick it up at the Star Wars Pavilion at Comic-Con, which is in the front row of the exhibit hall near Lobby D. Orders for figures that are not picked up will be cancelled and refunded. No holographic Leia figures ordered for pick-up at Comic-Con will be shipped. "
Sounds like you can't even place a pre-order for a buddy to pick up with all the "photo ID required" talk.
I guess I'll just wait until after SDCC to see if someone can help me land this exclusive...
Jeff
-
You're right Jeff, you have to be going to the SDCC to pre-order it, they won't be shipping them to people.
But according to SW.com (http://www.starwars.com/collecting/shop/shopnews/news20050531.html):
If supplies allow, there may be some of these figures available at the show for people who have not pre-ordered them, and StarWarsShop may also have some to offer online following the con...
We'll see if these show up later.
-
Well, I guess it helps to read the whole article :-[.
One less thing for me to do today then...
-
Well I guess it's going to be a long sleep for me before I see them online! :P
-
I was able to pre-order mine just fine just now. If this makes up for the cluster**** that was the C3 Vader 8 hour line, I'll be very pleased.

Have fun standing in line ;D
-
It's comments and bad attititude like that, that have kept me from coming back to visit you in Tennessee any more. Jerk.
But I'll see you in our Comic Con room in a couple months though...
Even though you're still an *******. And a belligerent one at that.

Comic Con is getting close, so you better be on...hey!!! Who changed my avatar??? >:(
-
Hey! Who said I would host it >:(
-
Ahahaha, nice...
-
I was under the impression that this was all this was, a way for you to stand in the "Pre-Order" line instead of they "buying line" (although the lines will probably be equally long ::)).
The preorder line will probably be as bad but at least you're guaranteed to get your figure(s) at the end of it, unlike CIII.
What happens in the unlikely event that the line is so prohibitively long you literally can't get to the store? Or if you have an emergency and have to leave early? Wouldn't they have to ship it to you, despite their policy? I mean, as long as you were on record as having checked in at the con.
Sounds like you can't even place a pre-order for a buddy to pick up with all the "photo ID required" talk.
Strangely enough, you can pre-order up to 4 but you can only purchase 3 at the con. And conceivably you might be able to order 4 with case and 4 without, because they are separate items in the cart.

So I just got this e-mail from SWS.com tonight:
Dear Matt,
The holographic Princess Leia figure, appearing as a transparent image projected by R2-D2 in A New Hope, will be debuting at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, and StarWarsShop is making it available for pre-order now!
In an effort to cut down line-time so fans can enjoy all there is to see and do at Comic-Con, StarWarsShop is offering the chance to purchase figures in advance, allowing shoppers to simply pick them up at the Star Wars Pavilion with a purchase confirmation notice and photo ID. Advanced purchasers can come to the Pavilion throughout the show, during any hours the Comic-Con exhibit hall is open, to pick up their figures.
The holographic Princess Leia figure comes packaged on a unique card in the style of the retro Original Trilogy Collection, featuring the Comic-Con logo and scene from A New Hope displayed behind the figure.
Please Note that you must be able to pick this item up during Comic con in San Diego. You must also bring a photo ID and either your confirmation page or your confirmation e-mail to the StarWarsShop.com booth Comic-con in San Diego in order to claim your figure.

**** that. I replied to them anyway:
That's lovely. But what would be even more helpful than your head's up about the pre-order on the Leia figure is if the stupid thing would actually be LISTED on your site for pre-order at any point in the last 2 days since your supposed promotion started. I've heard there's been a couple windows of about 10 minutes each when it actually showed up on your site. The rest of the time, it's just been the same thing:
"This product is currently unavailable."
Totally worthless. Thanks for nothing SWS.com, as usual. I'll see you in the real line at Comic Con...
- Matt
P.S. Love those two holographic blasters too. That was by far my favorite scene in the whole saga!
Idiots. ::)
-
Right on! ;)
-
It's up again.
-
Holo Leia. :'(
-
Nice reply Matt. LOL! I agree.
-
$14 for a figure? A remolded figure? This con-exclusive bull**** keeps going up and up in price, doesn't it? ******* junk.
-
$14 for a figure? A remolded figure? This con-exclusive ******** keeps going up and up in price, doesn't it? ******* junk.
Yep - and I don't understand what makes them think that $14.99 is a fair price for this figure?
I guess it's fair 'cause they know we'll pay it. >:(
-
An interesting read, looks like Australia will be getting the Holo Leia at there Kmart according to the front page of mousedroid.com (http://www.mousedroid.com/) and there forum. No updates thus far but will have to keep an eye out.
Holo Leia ---- Yes, you will see it locally (http://www.mousedroid.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=454)
-
Now that is just plain weird! I wouldn't be too surprised if it was released to some online retailer based overseas. But on store shelves, and K-mart of all places??
-
Thats cool and all, I just hope that we are able to get it without going to the con.
-
But according to SW.com (http://www.starwars.com/collecting/shop/shopnews/news20050531.html):

Cross your fingers that they do show up at SWS.com.
-
So here's an interesting tidbit on the Holo Leia figure...
Hasbro (or SWS.com) apparently wised up, and nixed both of her ridiculous holographic blasters. The bubble still has slots for the blasters though, but the blasters are definitely gone from the figure now.
One point for Hasbro, I guess. :P
-
^ That's encouraging news. Maybe somebody IS home up there after all.
-
This news actually ticks me off somewhat. The main reason I did not get this figure was because she was sporting twin blasters which made this piece look insanely stupid to me. Now it does not look that bad and I would have gotten it. It's cool in the end that they came to their senses though. But nothing like hyping up the wrong product for the masses and then changing it at the last intant without any mention of doing so.
-
Jared's pic (one among many) of Leia from the Image Database (http://www.jedidefender.com/gallery/imageFolio.cgi?direct=Conventions/San_Diego_Comic_Con_2005/Hasbro/Holographic_Princess_Leia):
Much better. Nice to see that Hasbro came to their senses and removed the ridiculous blasters.
-
Much better. Nice to see that Hasbro came to their senses and removed the ridiculous blasters.
I think it sucks!
Now, when my TRU Holographic Palpatine comes after her with his Holo Lightsaber and Holo Sith Lightning, she won't have Holo Blasters to shoot back! It's an outrage!!!
I guess Holo Yoda, Holo Plo Koon, and Holo Aayla can still step in to save her with their Holo lightsabers though...
:P
-
Blasters or no blasters, this figure is lame....and over priced.
-
Blasters or no blasters, this figure is lame.
Agreed.
...and over priced.
Agreed.
And yet, I've asked Matt for 2. Go figure. ::)
Stopping my completist ways are much easier said than done.
-
What she needs instead is a "holo-hood" ;)
-
What she needs instead is a "holo-hood" ;)
:o
Do you think the hood from the TRU Holo Emperor would work? :-\
If the hood is removable on that figure like it is on the #11 RotS figure it is based on, it might just work. Hmmm... I might just have to try it when I get home with my RotS #11 Emperor and my FF Leia. :)
-
Good Idea… her buns might get in the way though 8)
-
I picked mine up. Still think they shoud have used the Commtech mold. >:(
-
How have they been selling, do those of us unable to attend have hope that she will be offered ont he website? ???
-
What she needs instead is a "holo-hood" ;)
Exactly!!!
-
Anyone heard any more information about when the "extras" might be available on StarwarsShop.com?
-
Its up on the shop right now, i just ordered mine. ;D
-

Oy! I need to hurry my ass up and PM the last couple folks that I bought these for at SDCC then! Guess I'll cross you off that list Daniel, but no worries, since there were still a few others in need! ;)
- M
-
I have to say that it's bull**** that SWS.com was charging a dollar more for the Holo Leia with Starcase at SDCC, than they are on their damned website now. What's the deal with that? >:(
Well, for those of you who I've PM'd about having these for you already, my shipping costs will likely be cheaper than what SWS.com would be charging you, so hopefully it's at least a wash. Not to mention that I'll pack your stuff up 100x better than those assclowns will. ;)
- M
-
I ordered two, and they charged $8 in shipping. ::)
But, I skipped the holo Emperor (I should say, missed) so I was eager to pick this Leia up.
And I'm a sucker for things on that OTC cardback.
I think $35 for two of a con exclusive is pretty reasonable.

Sorry i didnt know you were getting the extra, if you can't get rid of it i will take it off your hands. I feel bad and dont want you to be stuck with it. Sorry again.

For those of you that still want one, the link to Holo Leia is here (http://shop.starwars.com/catalog/product.xml?product_id=103990&ReferrerID=CJADBN-00001).
:)
-
And just like that they are gone. Im sure more will show up in a few days less the case. Then a week later more will show up less the case and in non-mint condition.
-
Well, I missed out...again.
I really don't care, I'm sick of paying out the ass for these lame exclusives.
-
I completely missed this >:(
If any kind soul has an extra from SDCC that they wouldn't mind selling me, I would be very appreciative.
-
Shes back up at www.starwarsshop.com

She's back
A Direct Link for the Lazy (http://shop.starwars.com/catalog/product.xml?product_id=103990&ReferrerID=CJADBN-00001) ;)

Thanks for the heads up. Since I'm paying $8 for shipping, I reluctantly threw in the damn Wedge.... >:(
Ouchers... you know that WEDGE has a ship-date of October or some such...
If you didnt specifically state that you want 'separate' shipping, then you might
be outta luck. SWS has been know to NOT hold back early stuff while waiting
for later stuff to come in. I mention it ONLY to help you prevent a minor
tragedy with SWS standard-operating-procedure...
"Good Luck Jim"
-
-
Well - I ordered one, would have preferred to get two so I could have an opener. Perhaps they'll do another round in a week or so of either figures w/o cases or figures that aren't mint at a slightly lower price and I'll order another one then.
-

Well it looks like it's true, from the front page of Mousedroid.com.
"Help me, Australian Star Wars Collector. You are my only hope" ... Yes, the Holographic Princess Leia will begin to arrive around the country from this weekend. Expect to see limited numbers of this Purple Plastic Princess appearing Exclusively on Kmart shelves from Monday. This Comic Con & ShopStarWars item sold out extremely quickly in the USA
-
I got my today and it looks cool, nothing special though but nice to have in your collection
-
If they took the blasters away (which never should have been in there in the first place) - why did they leave it so the tray has space for them? They should have changed the tray to just have the figure standing in the center of the bubble, facing forward.
Pretty sloppy IMHO.
-
Back in stock:
Non-Mint Holo Leia at SWShop.com (http://shop.starwars.com/catalog/product.xml?product_id=103956&ReferrerID=CJADBN-00001)
Non-Mint condition without the Star Case for $11 plus shipping - great deal for the openers out there who are still looking for one!
Jeff

Wow, have a look at this Holo Leia that was just delivered to an on-line acquaintance:
Another great packing job by StarWarsShop.com! ::)
I wish I could say I was surprised, but with every new exclusive figure come the horror stories of people receiving crushed figures and what-not. :(
-
I guess I'm fortunate my two arrived with only slightly bent peg holes on the star case.
It's so totally lame that the tray still has the slots for the blasters. It almost flushes the whole piece down the toilet. It almost looks like a factory error, and is really sloppy for a con exclusive.
-
That is so bad its not funny anymore.
So many people seem to be getting stuf like that from them.
I guess they will say that was a non mint one.
Maybe they need to teach their employees that starwars fans demand mint stuff when they purchase, so they will pack things a bit better.
Thats unforgivable.
On a side note they have started to show up here in Australia at our Kmarts as well.
Picked up a couple for me yesterday.
Seems each store gets only one case of 10.
-
Are they still labeled as SDCC exclsuives down there? I'm just curious.
-
Anyone know what might of happened with any of the holo guns that were originally suppose to ship with this figure? We know some were made. I would like to find a loose one for my collection to add to my loose Leia. I know it is not movie accurate but the stance she has makes the figure look awkward plus it is a nice conversation piece.

That would actually be very cool.
