Depends on your definition of meaningful, I guess.

For carded collectors, they are new/unique cardback variants (40th ROTJ logo, back of the card is different).

For loose collectors, the sculpts are the same but the paint deco/ops might be slightly different or improved thanks to the newer painting processes.  Hard to tell until someone has the final production figures side-by-side with the old ones.  Kithaba is the "red headband" variant than many people may still need (I do not remember which was easier to find brown or red).

The red headband version was the hardest for me to find.  I believe that Justin and I went in together and bought some from the UK.  Good times.

I'll have to check which color bandana I have for Kithaba, though honestly I'll probably just do 5 mins of painting to get him screen accurate either way.

The cardback (not counting the reverse which is certainly different and the thicker stock these days) is updated to a nicer looking name pill, though still off-center because of the taller bubble. Oh, and the 40th ROTJ logo.

The figure is intended to be no different from the previous release as far as what Hasbro said. Who knows how it will turn out!

Thanks, obviously I haven't been buying these "Fan Channel" figures as a whole. Looking into it now I see the 1027-revealed Mortar Stormtrooper went up for preorder at the normal price of $14.99.

Discussing these prices over at Rebelscum, Jayson pointed out that the SKU on these figures indicates they are mainline releases and not fan channel. Which potentially puts the $16.99 mainline MSRP back into play for 2023.

Yeah, that's a good catch.  The card backs definitely have the E7763 assortment number on them.  That kinda flies in the face of Hasbro calling this a "specialty" fan channel wave?

Strange that they would choose this all-repacks wave to launch a price hike, but again Hasbro's business decisions are getting harder and harder to understand beyond "we're gonna keep sucking you 'til you're dry". 


Anyway, Hasbro finally shared out the Press Pics - all four should be up for pre-order tomorrow, 11/1, at 1pm ET -

Got a Nikto today... I don't see any real difference.  The paint maybe is applied slightly differently, but there's no new washes or aging or color changes... I'm going to return the new one.  Not the best photo... but here they are:



I ordered all four and will just check them one at a time and get my $70 back.
