We got a chance to watch our Goblet of Fire DVD this weekend, and I thought something looked different in that scene as well.  I don't know if I just missed it when we saw it in the theatre, or don't remember it, but the effect of the staffs did seem different to me too.

I'm on the edge of my seat waiting to see how Cory has come up with dubbing History of Violence "Hulk 2".

And dropping Darren Aronofsky's name, what's up with that? Didn't you just watch Pi and Requiem like a week or two ago for the first time? I bet you hadn't even heard of Darren when you watched History of Violence.

Why do you insist on referencing me like I don't post here, or don't read these? I saw both movies, when they were released on DVD no less. That said, you bet wrong. I also think you're confusing me with Rob who recently started getting into Cronenberg movies a few of months back, not that it matters or is relevant to why we like someone's work.

The Hulk analogy is simple. Guy gets pissed, guy gets violent. It was a sarcastic quip that sprouted wings and flew right past everyones collective head.

It's clear from earlier posts that Cory isn't into non-mainstreen Cinema.
No offense, but you're totally clueless, bro. I actually have a strong dislike for most mainstream movies. Just because I'm opinionated, and don't suck up to everyone's favorite director's latest attempt doesn't mean I condemn indies.  Of course, there's no fun in actually looking into what I like, especially when there's so much of it to be had in ignoring similairites in favor ot exploiting differences. "The Brood" happens to be one of my all time favorite movies. By whom? David ******* Cronenberg.

Looking at his DVD collection I'd say that Cory's probably more into mainstream cinema than most people.

What a crock of ****. I'm not even going to counter that because I know it's untrue. Not that anyone else here is capable of independent thought to see things my way.

Elitist groupthink mentality at work. To think I thought of myself as somewhat of a movie snob.

What a crock of bull****. You guys are so elitist and self-centered, it's no wonder this forum is still running in place after 3 years. It's a groupthink mentality at work.

The only problem with that is that The Brood, Scanners, and The Fly have been some of my favorites since I was a little kid.  I just filled in some gaps last year.

What a crock of ****. I'm not even going to counter that because I know it's untrue.

Dude, WTF are you talking about?  Looking at your collection we find:

28 Days Later
50 First Dates
The 6th Day
Alien Vs. Predator
Airforce One
Airplane
Airplane 2
Alien Boxed Set
Almost Famous
American History X
Amityville Horror remake
Anchorman
Antitrust
Apollo 13
Assault on Precinct 13
The Austin Powers Boxed Set
Back to the Future Trilogy
Bandits
Batman
Batman Begins
Batman Returns
Beetlejuice
Black Hawk Down
Blade
Blade 2
The Bone Collector
Bourne Identity
Bourne Supremacy
A Bronx Tale
Butterly Effect

And that's just the A's and B's.

I've got tons of mainstream movies too, but to so vehemently deny that you're into mainstream movies is crap.

Not that anyone else here is capable of independent thought to see things my way.

Independent thought doesn't mean seeing things your way.

I remember reading the short story for this years ago thinking it would be an interesting movie.  Then I remember hearing that it was going to be made.  Now its coming out on DVD on the 28th. When did this even hit theaters ???  I dont even remember previews, etc.  Was it straight to DVD or was it a mammoth flop that saw limited release?  Has anyone seen this who could give some feedback?  The story was good, but we all know how the film sometimes turns out.

It flopped - monumentally so.

The estimated production budget was $80,000,000

The Opening Weekend gross was $917,398
The Domestic gross was $1,900,451
The worldwide gross was $7,214,275

It closed in October of 05', never played in more than 816 theaters simultaneously, and lost around 73 million dollars.

Unbelelieveable.  Now my curiosity has got me.  I need to see this regardless.  If anyone has the chance to read the short story, do so.

I just bought HOUSE Season 1 on DVD and so far (3 episodes I've watched) it's a great show.

Just did my first blu-ray movie preorder at dvdempire... Terminator 2.  ::)

I'm doomed to repurchase that movie with every format and then never watch it. Yay.

Picked up Pirates widescreen 3 disc box set.

Since it's less appropriate for younger viewers, PM me for a link to the disc.

Hillarious movie, though.

"Everything Is Illuminated" for me. What a fantastic, surprising, beautiful film that was. The DVD is barebones, unfortunately.

"Paradise Now" was a bore IMO, almost pointless, considering how it ended. "Squid and the Whale" was an adult drama a la "Door In the Floor", "Derailed" was predictable as hell, but decent, the rapper/actor trend really hurt it. "Chicken Little"was alright, reminded me of "Valiant", which wasn't very funny, either. "Capote" wasn't really even about "Capote", and wouldn't merit another viewing. "House of the Dead 2" was better than the sequel, and pretty entertaining, but once was enough for me, as was "In the Mix". But fans of Sticky Fingaz may have enjoyed "HOTD 2".

My DirecTV has been out for 2 weeks now, as has DSL, so I've been watching movies non-stop.

To be fair, 40% of my DVD library is comprised of independent movies. I don't hate mainstream movies, but for anyone to suggest that I hate independent movies and favor wide releases is ludicrous. Of the first 35 movies I own, in order, 18 are indies. Hell, the first movie in my collection,  "11:14" is one.
