I couldn't find any of the Planet of the Apes boxed sets anywhere, and the only ad that showed them this week that I saw was Circuit City... anyone hear about this one being pushed back?  Amazon.com is saying they can deliver it by tomorrow if I select overnight shipping - so they seem to think it's out...

My CC was flooded with these this AM.  They had them laid out on a table.

Weird... I went to 3 Walmarts, a Target and a Best Buy and didn't see a single one - of the Ape head or the cheaper set.

I only saw 1 of the ape head sets at my CC.  But I counted over a dozen of the cheaper box set.  Kind of wished I had held off from buying the box set a few years back which was double the price :P

It flopped - monumentally so.

The estimated production budget was $80,000,000

The Opening Weekend gross was $917,398
The Domestic gross was $1,900,451
The worldwide gross was $7,214,275

It closed in October of 05', never played in more than 816 theaters simultaneously, and lost around 73 million dollars.

A Sound of Thunder

Curiousity got the best to me on this and I rented it last night.  You have to rent it to see for your eyes how bad the CGI was in it.  I mean worse than any made for TV movie.  Whoever did the work on that part of the film should never get another job in flim.  That is what ruined the film.  The story was good, but change a few actors and the animation and it would of at least made its money back IMO.

I can't wait to get my copy of King Kong from Netflix today...what should I expect?

Is it appropriate for a three year old?

Definitely not.  My 4.5 year old had nightmares.

Yeah, it's loud and scary and full of monsters - I probably wouldn't show it to a toddler.

I returned my Crash DVD this week (I hadn't opened it yet for just such an occasion...)  I'll be passing on Brokeback.

Crash Director's Cut and Chronicles of Narnia for me...

I finally found one at a Best Buy - they said they'd only gotten two in.  And I didn't see any of the ape-head set.

Yeah, but you're no DP.

And nothing's worse than DP.

I watched the New King Kong DVD last night, the picture was amazing. Can't wait to see the extended edition in November.

An extended version of "King Kong" is virtually impossible coming from Peter Jackson. I mean, 50% of the movie was filler to begin with, and I highly doubt he cut out any background character development, which it was sorely lacking, muchless anything intrigal to the storyline.

I'm sure it exists, but I fail to understand how there was anything to excise. If he were to go back, restructure it, cut it down, and flesh it out, I'd be all for it...but that's a pipe dream.
