Title: Force Files
Post by: Depmode on March 30, 2003, 11:50 PM
whats the deal with some of the POTJ figs not having force files?

The later items, mainly the last three waves lost the force files.  Most people seem to regard these as  a transition towards the SAGA line.

The force files seemed to get a not so great reception.  The consensus among most collectors seemed to be "give us more accessories, not more paper".

yeah, i can definately agree with more accessories, less paper. The only problem is they didn't include anything more in the figures that lacked the force files. Oh well.

Well, what Hasbro was trying to do with the force files was to add some value to the overall figure.  Before that, the value-added item had been the Commtech chip.  In fact, there's a litany of little value added things that Hasbro has tried.

But I think the overiding issue that you can find with those last three waves of POTJ is this:  they were probably THE BEST figures that were done in the entire line.  To me, that makes up for the absence of the force files.

It was:

Imperial Officer
Rebel Fleet Trooper
Queen Amidala Travel
FX-7

Eeth Koth
Zutton

Jango Fett
Zam Wessel
R3-T7
Clonetrooper

BoShek
R4-M9
Teebo

All came with no Force File, the rest did

Just wanted to see if anyone here has any ideas on how to display these?

I store mine in baseball card storage sheets.  They're a clear plastic, and can be put in a binder.  You can fit 12 or 16 on each sheet.

I'll second that,  that's the same thing I do with mines.  I have them in a binder stored away in my closet. ;D

They're the exact size of business cards, so Business Card Holders are something I'd head of and I decided to store mine that way.

I love the Force Files.  I wish this is something that we saw even today, but not at the expense of the figure's overall quality.  They were some of my favorites though, and they make a unique thing to have a complete set of too.

I even want to make a couple custom ones some day for the final figures released who didn't get a FF.

I use a few CCG sheets stuck to the wall with Blu-Tack:

Those are all great ideas!  I never would have even though about hanging my Force Files anywhere, but I think I'll have to look into that possibility.

There is no where in the house to hang them Chris!   :P
You can also do a sophisticated collage type thingy too for these.

I have mine in sports card pages already, but was wondering if anyone had any different ways to display them unfolded, if there is any way to make them look decent when they are unfolded.

You could probably put them on the wall with tacs.  Or, possibly in some kind of picture frame.

Mine are all still attached to the card.  I only have like 4 or so loose and I have them in a zip lock bag in my closet.  I have to say though, that the pages you have on the wall look really cool.  That is a really good idea.

This is as good a thread as any for this question!  :D

Anyone know of or have a list of all the Jedi Force Files (including variations, if any)? I did a little look-see lately of the ones I have and here's what I came up with:

I didn't know there were any variations  :(...unless you include text language. Did the Canadian Tri-Logos also have different Force Files I wonder?

I know for a fact that there are about 12 Euro quad-logo Force Files: I only have old Ben on these cards, but there are quite a few others.

As for basic US Force Files, I don't see anything at first glance missing from your list  :)

Yeah, those stupid number variations (like 0000, 0100, etc.). There are also a bunch of errors (mostly typeset), but I'm not going to go overboard...just yet.  :P

Were the actual Force Files in different languages, too? I've seen some tri-logo POTJ cards, and it looks like just the card has the foreign languages.

For what it's worth, I updated the list in my original post above. It now includes what I have (with four-digit number) and the five that I don't have.  :-\

Dang variations. :P

It’s very interesting that the Tri-Logos had US FFs: the European releases have multi-language Force Files as well as cards. I have taken photos of my Euro POTJ Old Ben and you can see that the front and back covers of the Force File are quad-logo. I’ve never seen an opened one, but I would assume that for legal reasons (these were marketed all over Europe) they would be multilingual throughout. Like I said, only about 12 of these were released on European cards…I’ll try and get a list for you.

Anyways, here are the pics of my only European POTJ Force File:

Interesting! I hadn't seen these quad-logoed cards before. I've seen a few tri-logoed cards (Sabe and Bespin Guard come to mind), and it looks as if the Force File only is in English (at least from the front). Thanks for the pic!

If Shmi is any indication, then the trilogo cards have unilingual force files.  I can try and idg up the rest, but hers is English only and the card is trilogo.

Today I found a Euro Han Bespin Capture to open.  So here for all you North Americans is what the quad-logo Force Files look like.  Interestingly,  instead of the usual Hasbro tactic of simply removing images to cram all the text in, they actually increased the number of pages to 16!

Does anyone have the rare Leia / Amidala one?

Can anyone post a pic of it?

Is that a Leia figure packed with the Amidala Force File (or vice versa)?
