Hey Hasbro! / Re: Comic Packs Hasbro should make!
« on: January 10, 2009, 11:25 PM »
Here are some that I think might be cool.

The Bounty Hunters: Kenix Kil
Kir Kanos as Kenix Kil & Tav Kennede

REPUBLIC #37 - The Stark Hyperspace War Pt 2
Jedi Master Tyvokka & Iaco Stark

Jango Fett - Open Seasons #3
Jango Fett & Dooku - Jedi Master

That's just for starters.

I never cease to be amazed by my fellow Northeasterners.  Snow is a semi-regular occurrance in these parts.  But somehow people always forget how to drive in the stuff.  Amazing.

It looks like a decent wave.  I'm not totally crazy about Luke and Leia being in the wave to begin with, but they seem decently done.  Even though they gave Luke his lightsaber.  ;D

Needa - Finally a good Imperial Officer.  And Captain Needa finally gets his due.

Hoth Rebel - Very nice.  The sculpt looks far better than the Saga version.  And well articulated.  But it looks like the lower portion of the coat was cut off.  I wonder if there's  supposed to be a softgoods extension to the coat.

Ugnaughts - Very cool to see both of them.  They look good, even though the image has them out of scale with the other figures.  But I'm still confused about Hasbro's response, saying that we'd only get one.  Are they going to do this as a running change, or will there be a 2-pack?

Emporer - Monkey faced emporer it is!  And damn, is it ugly.

Luke - The head sculpt is actually pretty good.  The open wrist is cool.  Him getting the hand tweaked by 2-1B was the coolest part of that scene, IMO.  But the lightsaber?  LOL!

Leia - I honestly would have rather seen a Hoth Leia resculpt.  But it makes sense to release this Leia as a companion to Luke in this wave.

Finally some images!

That is indeed Darklon.  Check out this Yo Joe entry for pics.  And he is part of the Iron Grenadiers.

I've heard that this wave might be showing up at TJ Maxx stores.  I hit a couple today, but no luck so far.

Saw a couple of the new comic 2-packs today.  Wild Bill vs Scrap Iron was okay, but I was really impressed to see the Hard Master w/ Ninja Snake Eyes.

Mickey Rourke as the Crimson Dynamo
Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer

Smells of BS to me.  Wishful fanboy thinking.  Like Depp as the Riddler.  And I don't think Rourke would pass as Russian, and he's too old for the role.

The story actually made for news on IMDB.  Superherohype might have posted it, but that's because it made the Hollywood press first.

Mickey Rourke has some buzz going for him right now.  A lot of critics are saying that his role in "The Wrestler" could be the first part of a major comeback.  This casting news gives the next Iron Man project some increased buzz.

That same article makes mention of an assistant by the name of Natasha.  A potential tie-in for the Black Widow, perhaps?

I think a better AT-ST would be better received than a new AT-AT.  The AT-ST has more potential all the way around.

-Room to be upgraded.  It can be upsized to featured a larger cockpit
-There's less plastic involved in upsizing the AT-ST
-It can ship in a significantly smaller package than the AT-AT, and package size is a great determinant in whether or not something can make it to retail.
-You can pack in a hero figure!  You could go with either Chewbacca or Han Solo in AT-ST Driver disguise as a pack-in to help drive sales.

And truth be told...shortpacking Willrow Hood might give him a little more buzz amongst collectors.  It's a collector targetted figure to begin with.  So why not try to stir the pot with collectors a bit by intentionally shortpacking him?

That's a nice chunk of rock to find, 2.3 kilograms.  8)

It was an amazing fireball.  My friends and I equated it to seeing a flaming bus streaking through the sky.

Figures like this were made to be shortpacked.

The only problem with that is due to the build-a-droid, you can't short pack any one figure over the other figures in that same wave that contain the rest of the parts to the same droid.

Not really.  They found a way around that by packing the same part that a new figure has with a reissue as well.  And in most cases that was an army builder.

I've got to go on the record with one large vehicle prediction....

The Clone Turbo Tank.

I'm still not sure when (as in it could be more than a year from now or more).  Especially based on it's absence from the TV series so far, and the AT-TE leg situation.  Just call it an....educated guess.

The Turbo Tank would be my best guess too... if Hasbro wants to release something big in 2009 or 2010, it makes sense to make it Clone Wars related, and that's as good a prediction as any.

I think I'll be more than content though if we don't get any new big items in 2009... more of a space issue than anything.

It's not a guess, despite my phrasing in the original post.

 ;D

And this is what I was worried about when Hasbro said they were going to do Yarna.  I knew she would be a pegwarmer before too long.  But fanboys on boards kept saying that she would sell, that they'd buy multiples, yadda yadda yadda.

Figures like this were made to be shortpacked.

No offense to ICMG, but he should be shortpacked, too.  It's way too inside for the casual buyer.
