Title: Outlander Club Wave (Skethctrooper, Bail, Vida etc)
Post by: Boba Binks on November 6, 2003, 11:40 AM
The Bail Organa Wave of figures is hitting the pegs here in Indy.

The cases have changed they no longer have the big bold text on the side saying what is inside. Now the cases have a pink stripe on the top that says toys and a balck stripe on the bottom that says boys. In the middle of the box it has the numbers and junk with small lettering that says SW03W#R# or something like that. So I kindly asked the stockers if they could open the box for me and they did.
In the box I scored the new bail wave!!

Here is what the case breakdown is:
X2  Imperial Dignitary (Janus Greejatus)
X2  Padme Amidala (Lar's Homestead)
X2  Bail Organa (Alderaan Senator)
X2  McQuarrie Concept Stormtrooper - Fan's Choice #4
X1  Elan Sleazebaggano
X1  Obi-Wan Kenobi (Nightclub)
X1  Ayy Vida *Has production error* The Left leg has two right thighs
X1  Ashl & Jempa Padawans

Thanks to MacNZsDad for the update in the Indianapolis Area thread that these were at Target here in Indy. I did not know that these were out so soon. I thought they were scheduled for December.

** I just opened up some of the figures. The Imperial Dignitary's base is just a piece of black plastic, no foot pegs to hold the figure on it.  ???

Nice score!  This looks to be a pretty good wave, with some variety and well-done figures.  As OCB said, the hunt begins!  Thanks for posting that they are out there.....somewhere :).

I was lucky enough to have found some of these this evening at a Mid-Michigan Target store. Most were gone, but I did get Bail, Padme and Janus. I'm happy. ;D

I just found 6 of the 7 at a Target here in MN. A very pleasant surprise.  ;D  Got them all but Ayy Vida.

Nice finds everyone!  Glad to see this stuff is finally hitting, even though it means I've fallen substantially behind again.  Little more anxious for the upcoming Hoth wave though myself!   8)

So how does the bar look when it's put together from the Obi-Wan and Sleazebaggano figures?  Nice fit?

Here is an image of the Ayy Vida Leg production error.

As you can see from the image that I took of the two, the leg has already been corrected. So variation hunters, Happy Hunting.

Is the ankle articulated David?  Otherwise the leg would be on backwards...weird

No the ankle is not articulated.

I just found Janus and Bail at Target. Unfortunately, I got there a little late thanks to a pressing engagement in Burbank involving a sweaterless collector and Underoos. ::)

It's just the THIGH that's on backwards, not the shin. Don't forget about that lovely knee articulation.

What a surprise to find on my desk today!!  My EE order came (I didn't even know it had been shipped).  These figures are s-w-e-e-t!!  My Aaya has the correct legs (thank goodness) and the Stormtrooper looks so cool!!
I also have two Padme's with decent paint jobs so all in all...a nice day!!

PS:  I now have an extra Bail and Dignitary if anyone needs these guys. Oh and an Ashla and Jempa too!!

Got these earlier this week.  Very nice stuff!  I opened everything, and I'm pretty happy with it all.

The bar is a great piece.  I've got Obi-Wan and Elan talking, Lt. Faytonni chatting up Ayy Vida, Anakin walking around aimlessly, and Zam sneaking up on Obi-Wan.  A cool little scene right there.

Padme's nice, although her hood is a little snug.  I got it on a little to well, and when I tried to take it off, her head came off, too.  Thank goodness for balljoints.

Bail makes a great addition to my Palpatine's office scene.  It's nice to get him in there.

The dignitary is paying his respects to the Emporer while keeping a couple of steps back from both Palpatine and the re-issue Vader.  I think they really got a grasp on the scale issue here finally.

Last but not least, my 2 McQuarrie Stormtroopers are ready for battle, with shields and weapons at the ready.  The glowing lightsabers are a novel touch.  You just have to expose them to some light for a little while, and then let them sit in the dark.

I got these bad boys today in the mail, and YES they are awesome.  Oh boy, where do I start...

Concept Stormtrooper - pretty darn cool, don't plan on getting too many of these though since they don't look like that in the movie

Ayy Vida - a fun addition to the bar scene, nice little chair she comes with and adds more variety to the line

Imperial Dignitary - dead on sculpt, nice articulation in the arms/wrists, about time they made this guy

Bail Organa - dead on likeness, nice holo Obi Wan (wish he could be taken off the pedestal though); glad he has articulated wrists

Homestead Padme - a collector oriented figure of course; a little boring, but good likeness and nice little tummy you have there; I do like the ball-jointed head

Elan Sleazebaggano - AWESOME sculpting here, great idea including part of the bar and death sticks, a great addition to the line

Obi Wan - the absolute BEST Obi Wan yet, articulated at the neck, waist, knees, boots, right wrist, and ball jointed shoulders; great idea including part of the bar, too bad he has a sculpted lightsaber hilt, but it can probably be removed with relative ease with a dremel

Overall, this is a great wave of figures.  It includes 7 NEW figures, and a pack-in of Ashla and Jempa again.  They probably should have just added another Obi Wan instead of Ashla and Jempa, or instead repacked a figure like removable helmet Vader again instead.  But this wave ROCKS.  I hope you all get it soon!

I like this wave, although I don't have Ayy and Elan yet. I keep pulling the head off of my Padme everytime I take the cloak off. Curses.

Picked up this wave from EE this morning (I'm being lazy in store hunting :) ) - this wave is AWESOME, totally agree.

One word of warning though - I opened up a McQ Stromtrooper, and the joint on his right arm broke when I tried to swivel it! It's hanging by a shred of plastic now. First time it's ever happened to me. Going to have to krazy glue it now. :(

I've only found Bail and Janus so far, but both of these figures are very well done.  I really hope to find Obi and the Concept Stormie soon, both of those figures look great as well.  Seems to be a really good wave of figures :).

I bought Obi Wan today, and this is without a doubt my favorite PT figure so far.  I'm a huge Obi fan so to see this kind of attention devoted (finally) to the master is much appreciated.  Now all I need is a robed Obi with this much articulation and I'm happy.

Yep, that Obi Wan is fantastic.  I'm thinking about doing a right hand swap with a Rebel Fleet Trooper if I find a second Obi Wan anytime soon. :)

There were two there when I found him and I really considered buying one to customize a robed version, which would be simple enough.  I've already done that with the Ep1 robed version, so I passed.  For now.  ;D

I've seen this wave a few times, I was searching madly for Concept Troopers, so of course I saw most of them around except for that. I picked up the Dignitary and (eventually) three Troopers. I'm pretty happy with my purchases--the Concept Stormies are about as good as I'd hoped.

I came very close numerous times to picking up Bail--he just seems so "key" to the saga even if he hasn't done much yet, plus the Obi-Wan hologram looked very nice. None of the other figures moved me much.

Is the Obi-Wan really that good of a figure, or is this just a case of lowered expectations after Acklay, Pilot, and CC Obi? Maybe the few that I saw had really bad paint applications, but he looked just as "off" as the previous Ep 2 versions to me, so I never considered picking him up...interesting...

I agree with you CHEWIE...that Obi-Wan is the best we've got.

Any idea what arms would be good to give him? I plan on getting another one to customize, and I'm going to keep the ball joints. I'm just trying to figure out what arms to use below the ball joints, so he can hold his saber with two hands, preferably.

And the lightsaber shouldn't be too hard to remove. I like the fact that the "skirt" is very soft. It shouldn't be too hard to seat him in the jedi starfighter.

anybody notice that the padme base has some clips that look like they attach to some other bases? could there be more lars homestead figures in the works??

The paint job with Ayy Vida was very poor.  I mean, wasn't she supposed to be tri-color?!?!
