Watto's Junk Yard / Re: 2 Planes Disappear Over Russia
« on: August 27, 2004, 07:09 PM »
After several days of suggesting there didn't seem to be any foul play involved, it looks like Russian officials have finally found traces of bomb evidence.  Foul play indeed.

As horrible a thing as this is, is it bad of me to feel just a little tiny bit relieved that this has happened to another country, so that it doesn't just feel like it's us (the U.S.) who these terrorists are out to get?   :-[  At this point, it seems like the whole world is getting a little tired of us, and might be thinking we get what we deserve, but if the terrorism continues to affect other countries and areas of the world, this horrible issue won't be construed as just an American problem.  It's in that respect that I'm glad to see this happen elsewhere, so it will keep this problem on more of a global scale, where everyone realizes it's a problem and everyone needs to deal with it and protect their respective countries from it.

Condolences to all the Russian victims and families involved though.  A true tragedy.

666?  Uh-oh!

**Runs to grab Bible and Cross to ward off evil Princess of Darkness**

I think you guys should've treated Member #666 like hotels often treat floor #13, where they'll often skip the 13th floor for fear of bad luck at the thought of it.  You guys should've just banned Member #666 long ago, before it ever had a chance to get scooped up here, by presumably a nice, young lady who will now forever have this demonic number associated with her!   :-\

That aside, welcome to JD Princess, oh conveyer of dark and evil spirits!   :P

I sporadically collect the 12" line, and was wondering if there was any Episode 3 news on it lately (Comic Con, etc)?  It seems like the 12" line has really been fizzling out of late, aside from the three VOTC figures, so I've been growing a little concerned over the fate of this line.  I figured an Episode 3 release would give it enough of a shot in the arm that perhaps they'd pump out some new OT figures as well.

What would you guys want to see in an ROTS 12" line?  Obviously a new Vader goes without saying.  Grievous would certainly be interesting, and potentially cool if he was done well.  What else?

Welcome to the party Mike!  Haven't found a better place on the net to talk Star Wars collecting, so I'm sure you'll dig it here.  I know I do.  Looking forward to sharing some knowledge.   8)

So, when are we due for some more updates here?  Don't leave us hanging like this Muftak!  Hopefully you're settled into your new place by now and you've delved back into your Cloud City project.  Your fans await!   :P

Star Wars Action Figures / Re: Master Phruby is in the house!
« on: August 27, 2004, 06:44 PM »
Hey, that's real cool Phruby!  Lucky kid you've got there.  I'm sure plenty of kids (and a few grown ups) would be stoked to be their own action figure.   8)

Is it just the lighting in the picture there, or is the OTC logo at the bottom left a little different?  I can't really see anything at the top of it, where the "Star" word would be.  I think it's probably just the lighting though.

Did you shave/"spike"/modify the Anakin's hair at all, to match your son's crew cut?  Hard to tell.  Regardless, nice custom job and cute kid there!

Oh yeah, welcome to JD too!   ;)

The Wookiee Arcade / Re: Battlefront at Star Wars.com
« on: August 27, 2004, 06:32 PM »
Can I ask a really stupid question here?  I don't know jack about some of the current gaming things going on, but have had an interest in picking up some of the new Star Wars titles coming out, including Battlefront (for the figure too), since they look so cool.  I'm just curious if this is going to ONLY be a multi-player game, or if I can just play it by myself if I wanted to.  For whatever reason, I don't like the multi-player, interactive online games, or whatever you want to call them.  I'm much happier with just me and my computer.

I'm sure this must've been covered somewhere already and I just missed it, but was there any word at Comic Con or elsewhere, that Action Fleet would finally be making a return for Episode 3?  I hope so, since I'd really like them to revisit those last several OT ships/sets that they had on tap a long time ago, like the Death Star and Star Destroyer.  I'm going to be mighty pissed if those never get released, after they flaunted them in front of us at Toyfair a few years ago!   >:(

Honestly though, I could care less about any Ep. 3 Action Fleet ships.  I just figured if they restarted the line to put some of those out, my M.I.A. OT ones would have a better chance at seeing the light of day.

Site Feedback, Suggestions, and Help / Re: Forum Upgrade
« on: August 27, 2004, 06:23 PM »
Don't think I've been by since the upgrade, but just wanted to mention it looks nice.  Not too different, but slightly modified and upgraded with a couple new bells and whistles.  Like they say, If it ain't broke, don't fix it!  These forums were far from broke before, so I'm glad the changes weren't drastic, or anything weird like Rebelscum did earlier this year.  I like the revised section titles and descriptions more too!  Thanks for the improvements guys.   8)

JD Sports Forum! / Re: Summer Olympics **beware of SPOILERS**
« on: August 27, 2004, 06:19 PM »
My fiance and I have been watching most of the Olympic coverage each night, and it's been pretty interesting and entertaining for the most part.  I don't know if my expectations are just too high, expecting the U.S. to win at everything, but I'm rather disappointed with quite a lot of their efforts.

Looks like the women's 4 x 100 relay team screwed up today on a baton handoff (involving Marion Jones), and didn't medal.  She whiffed on the long jump too.  Should've stayed doped up!  Just a real crappy day for the "home team".  At least we kicked butt in the pole vault though!   :P

Men's basketball?  Don't even get me started.  At this point, if the NBA scrubs are going to start losing now, they might as well just go back to all collegiate players, so we at least have an excuse for losing and it's not so embarrasing.

LEGO / Re: Comic-Con Lego OTC & Others
« on: August 27, 2004, 06:14 PM »
Has anyone seen any of the other Lego sets besides the Millenium Falcon showing up in the new OTC packaging design?  The Falcon hit out here a month ago, but still the same old ugly sets for the Snowspeeder, Cantina, and X-Wing.  Weren't those shown at Comic Con in the OTC packages?  Why wait to put them out, if the Falcon's out now?

I was really disappointed with the lack of any new news from the Lego team at Comic Con.  One of my favorite lines here appears to be going down the toilet.   :'(

I can definitely see your point there Muftak.  Interesting observation there!  So I guess that means that Hasbro's really come full circle and is now eye-ing the next phase of their line, and the potential stuff for after the ROTS figures are released.  I've seen a lot of members suggesting for years that they do an "Ultimate Edition" line, so maybe that's where the line will move on to as it runs it's course in the next several years.

I just want them to squeeze in some more of the Cantina and Jabba's Palace aliens in there somewhere too though!  Don't start all over, but rather do a nice mix of continued "Ultimate Edition" figures, alongside some POTJesque OT background characters that are still missing.  That'd be just perfect for me!   8)

But I'm glad to see them making some nicer figure finally though.  Just wish they didn't cost so much, and weren't a limited release.

I'm getting a little nervous about how much this cup collection is potentially going to grow in the future, based on some of the rumored reports I've seen in the news here in the past.

I agree that these look even better in the OTC packaging, but I'm just interested in having the cups, so I'll be taking them out.  In that respect, I agree that there was at least a good choice in characters here.  Can anyone refresh my memory as to what the rest of the rumored cups were supposed to be?  I'm too lazy to scroll back through the news archives.  If they make too many more of these though, they're going to cross the line where I'm going to start wanting a "more complete" line of cups, with all the major characters being represented!   :-\

They just better add an Episode 3 cup or two into the mix, to round out the collection.
