Saga '02-'04 / Re: First Look at Jabba at GH
« on: September 24, 2003, 09:01 AM »
curious they didn't bitch about all the other previous scans from Insider such as Unleashed Boba, McQuarrie Trooper, etc. being posted online.  The Jabba will be no different...it will go online...I find it comical that LFL/Hasbro wants us to buy their products but they don't want the fans to help promote it...imagine.

Products and colors may vary.  Some poses may require hand support.

Honestly, I think this should have been a stand alone figure and not part of any 'deluxe assortment'.

What should have been done, since the fans have been asking for this for years, is package him in a window box something like the Screen Scenes from this year, with his pipe and throne and salacious crum.  Pricepoint, $20-25

Would it have worked?  Yes?  Why?  For the most part they would be re-using old molds.  Would I buy it?  Yes.  Why they did not do this is beyond me.  He pretty much could qualify as a screen scene with a throne, pipe, salacious, and a full case of just him would sell, but alas, you did it again Hasbro.

Anyway, the figure itself looks good to me, its better than that thing that came with Han a couple of years ago..

now lets hope we get new versions of slave Leia and Oola with good articulation....

my Twilight  Frodo came today...in a box about 3 feet long and 2 wide, packed with about 5 feet of bubble pack stuff...and down at the bottom was frodo.

Shockingly, the box was in great condition save for a giant sticker on the bubble, but that came off easy.

I am gonna keep him carded for now...maybe I will open him but I like the eye of sauron behind him....

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Retail 2004: How Do You Think It Will Be?
« on: September 18, 2003, 06:33 AM »
IMHO, we should be fine at retail next year, as long as stores do not go hog wild and order tons and tons and tons of figures at christmas  which will sit there for months on end after the holiday...that is why 2003 sucked up until now.  Its improving drastically.  I have found more figures in the past 3 weeks than I have in 8 months...

screw figures that only obsessive fanboys with 100,000 points will get.

I want hasbro to offer us 'lower' collectors sets of 5 stands like the ones in the TRU 4-packs for maybe 100-200 points each or something...

I have a 55 gal. tank full of Guppies and plants and snails.  I've had it since '95 or so but the fish never lived very long.

I'd suggest you start with Guppies, Mollies, or Sword tails.  They have live babies and are easy to take care of.  Also they are the cheapest.

Don't buy anything from Walmart or dept. stores, their fish are always sick and diseased.  Go to a real pet store and pay a little extra, its worth it in the long run.

Honestly, I am considering emptying mine and giving the fish away and using the tank for a figure diorama or something....I'm quite bored with the whole concept of fish but thats up to my parents, I guess they like the fish...

My Frodo apparantly shipped yesterday as well.

With all these toys showing up OL, I wouldn't be surprised if they start hitting B&M stores...

How is the Bilbo?  Thats one of the ones i am really looking foreward to since I like the hobbitses.  Hopefully I will be able to find him around here...and damn our mall for not having a suncoast.

I broke down and ordered Mr. Frodo.  The suspense got to me  :P

Twilight Frodo is mine.  A big hearty I told you so to the scalpers.  And now watch him be blown out in KB stores nation wide for $5.99.  Hee.

Me thinks I am gonna wait it out.  If it shows up at KB.com, it will eventually hit stores since its not a "web exclusive"

Might be cheaper in store also...

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: How's your shopping Karma?
« on: September 10, 2003, 06:44 PM »
At Wal*Mart and the mall I have to excuse myself through: mothers with 3-6 kids who seem to not have a sense of direction and run into you, old women commandeering shopping carts, of which, have hit me twice in my rounds over the years, rude employees who give me glares when I, a 19 year old man, ask when the latest shipment of toys come in, have older people staring at me in line with a "wtf are you buying a toy for?? look, I have in the past had parents tell me to get out of the toy isle and stop buying 'kids toys', I once battled a mother at TRU over a Jurassic Park figure (she SNATCHED IT out of my shopping cart!!), and of course have been disgusted when I find nothing but pegwarmers.

But I weather through it.

I usually put  figures back on the pegs when I find them laying around, because I figure if i can hang all that i can find up it will show that they NEED TO ORDER them.  I hate messy toy isles and do my best to keep 'my' areas nice...SW pegs are abused so.  I hate going into a store and all the figures are flopped off the pegs and laying all around the shelf below.  I also hate parents that casually toss things back into the shelf that their kids grab.

I dont know about all of you, but one thing I absolutly loathe at retail is open air packages....you know..."try me" boxes.  We have all seen them before...I dunno about you but I DO NOT like the unwashed hands of the masses fingering potential product I want to buy.  That doesnt just apply to toys, it applies to everything, but toys are the big bad when it comes to that.  If something I am buying is in OA packages I go to the top shelf for it.  No way am I buying something that some little kid touched after he picked his nose, and another came along who just  sucked his hands, and another who is just dirty in general.  Ick.  OA Boxes need to die.  Thank god most SW stuff doesnt have them.

The Holidays, I avoid stores if possible.  entering stores after Nov. 20th is asking for death.  Also, it seems people are more fiesty and want to beat you to death for toys around this time...

oy, what a rant.

Perhaps more later.

Clone Wars '03-'05 / Re: Clone 3-pk ...does it suffice?
« on: September 6, 2003, 05:57 AM »
Woo!

I finally scored the blue clone set and the droid army yesterday and boy do those clones rock!!

I can't wait to get the other variants!

Hasbro needs to do more packs like this...stormies and scouties from the OT would rock like this!

well since it will never make it to backwoods PA, no, I won't see it.

I'd rather just watch DVDs anyway....
