Is the Chopper droid actually from the Rebels show or just some made up thing?

He's from Disney's Galaxy's Edge, but not in any show as far as I know.

I also got into it with a guy on FB who was bragging about ordering 30 of these from Amazon.

30x$34 = $1020 plus tax.  For one figure? :o

Yep. He posted the order confirmation.  It was like $80 in taxes, but he had a $32 gift card, so there's that.

I'm confused.  Patrick says available on Pulse tomorrow for $229.  Then he says on shelves Summer of 2023.  Then he says its a Pulse Exclusive in the U.S. in Canada.  Is it coming to retail and the preorder is exclusive or is it just available through Pulse?  Love the set, not loving the price.  Probably a better deal than a $350 black series Rancor though.

There's a $15 off coupon code at EE that you can use on orders over $99.  The case sells for $109.99

Use 2103212 at checkout.

Ordering the 2 cases with that code plus super saver shipping, each figure costs $13.66.

I am not super-enthused about buying a case blind.  But I have the option to cancel if I choose to do so.

Awesome, thanks for the code!  Even without it, the figures are only about $15 shipped.  Pretty sure I will want everything else in the case unless they're repacks.  Only two doubles in the case including Din and I'd want two of that one anyway, so this is a big win.

The Black Series 6" Figures / Re: Hasbro Pulse Fan Livestreams
« on: February 9, 2022, 11:15 AM »
Black Series 6" Archive Series:
- C-3PO
- Skiff Guard Lando  (I'm guessing they picked him to go with the Rancor... oh, wait  >:D)
- Dengar
- Emperor Palpatine

Well crap, I'm going to want all of these.  New finish for C-3PO, Photo real heads for the other three.   ::)

The Black Series 6" Figures / Re: Hasbro Pulse Fan Livestreams
« on: February 9, 2022, 11:10 AM »
I'm a little less enthused for the Black Series reveals that might be coming on Wednesday.  It feels like that segment of the line is just going through the motions right now.  I feel like the people at Hasbro who are planning out The Vintage Collection just "get it" a bit more.

I don't know, BS seems ahead of TVC to me.  Kuiil showed up there first, Bo Katan showed up there first. They've got the 40th anniversary carded figures, Animated Clone Wars 6" figures, Bad Batch figures, and now the Dark Trooper.  Lots of variety and new figures.  By comparison, TVC has a few prequel figure waves in the pipeline and some repainted ARC Clone Troopers.  I'm still collecting both lines, but more excited for what's coming our way on the 6" side these days.

Whew, just spent a lot of money spreading my bets on these. I ordered two from Pulse, two from Dorkside, and two from Amazon. Kept looking for a better deal figuring I could cancel down the line. Amazon seems to be the winner at $33.99 and Free Shipping. Thanks for the link, Jeff!

I did the same, kind of by accident.  I could only find it on Pulse to start with, so ordered him with Jin.  Then I thought about what I just spent for 2 of each figure plus shipping and went looking for a better deal.  Found 2 more of these on Amazon, so ordered there too, then I found them for $2 less on Target preorder, so ordered 2 there as well.  I'm not going to pay for six Dark Troopers, but I am going to hold onto all my orders for now to see how things play out.  You never know when Target or Amazon are going to cancel theirs.

I also got into it with a guy on FB who was bragging about ordering 30 of these from Amazon.  I totally get army building and I don't want to tell anyone else what the right number is.  But I feel like that number is somewhere below 30.  He was trying to argue that Hasbro has an endless supply of them and will just make more, which I actually think is how it should be, but as he was defending his purchase it started selling out everywhere.   ::)

Shocked that this preorder was so simple.  This is how it should be.

But then I think moving to this date might have been by design.  Adding the Deluxe Dark Trooper along with the TVC Din Djarin preorders to this time might have helped.  Why?  Listing a single retail exclusive figure on a given date has the potential to focus web traffic on one site.  But listing multiple items at the same time across multiple retailers at the same time might just spread the user traffic around enough to keep online retail sites from crashing.

OR they just didn't have their **** together in time, which seems more plausible than proactive planning.  I also think the Fett was easier to get because a lot of people bailed after seeing the price.  Lots of guys on FB groups avoiding this one between that and Fett figure overload.

The Vintage Collection / Re: Hasbro Pulse / Pulse Premium Discussion
« on: February 9, 2022, 10:54 AM »
I've got the membership and buy pretty much everything on Pulse.  I'm pretty patient and don't care if I'm the last to get things.  They're pretty reliable and my stuff comes minty-fresh.

How much was the membership, $50?  I had it for the first year, but haven't renewed and don't think I will.  When I'm forced to order from them, it's $5-10, but most of the product is available elsewhere with free shipping and sometimes at a lower cost.  I initially ordered two Dark Troopers and two Din from Pulse yesterday and probably would have just kept it if the shipping were free.  Then I found everything on Amazon and Target at lower prices with free shipping, so cancelled my Pulse orders.

I think they're shooting themselves in the foot with all the cash grabs.  Significant increases in figure costs, no more free shipping, expensive membership fees, year out preorders...they're going to price/stress some people out of buying and then wonder why sales aren't meeting expectations.  I have a bad feeling about this.

It’s probably as simple as them having 28,000 of them to ship.  It’s going to take awhile.

Hopefully that's it as I haven't seen any movement on my order.  I reached out to Pulse this morning and this was their response:

You are very welcome and thank you for your patience. Hasbro Pulse order #------ is in progress to ship. We recently started preparing these orders for shipment and we cannot provide an estimated ship date for each order. If you do not receive a notification within the next week, week and a half, you may contact us for an update.

TV-9D9 / Re: The Book of Boba Fett (Spoilers)

Have any of you guys read anything about how they're doing the voice for Luke?

Is it Mark Hamill recording and then sound engineers making him sound younger?  Is it a voice actor who's just really good and doing young Mark Hamill?

I read somewhere yesterday that Hamill did nothing for BoB other than lend his likeness.  The voice was build by a machine-learning process that they fed the raw dialog of the OT and the radio dramas.

To be honest, as cool as the voice is, it really seems artificial to me.

I thought it sounded a bit artificial as well, but I don't know if that was because it was obvious or because I was instantly looking for it.  I'm guessing it was a lot more noticeable to SW super fans than the general public or kids. Still amazing that they can even do this.

That's enough that I've started buying them on eBay... I don't want to get caught flat footed and so far I've been able to find 3 4 of them for $24.99 each.

I can't even find an auction for the Chopper style one or the mostly yellow BB droid though.

I found some but they are crazy expensive.  The $25ish auctions might not be a bad move as I was paying about $21 for them blind.

Other Toy Lines / Re: 2022: What Are You Collecting?
« on: February 3, 2022, 04:09 PM »
As I get closer to finishing off displays, I'm collecting a lot less.  Casual things I would have bought in the past are left on the pegs now that I have a better idea of what I have space for.  In the last few years I've picked up a lot of Marvel, NECA, Minimates, older 80's Toys, Transformers, etc.  But I'm mainly down to just Star Wars 3.75" and 6" figures (which is still a lot to buy with all these preorders).  I'm more focused on backfilling things I missed than most new items these days, but still picking up some vintage Star Wars stuff here and there as well.  I'll probably get a few more MCU related Marvel Legends as time goes on, but that's it.

Per Esquire:
"So we don't yet know the specifics of Skywalker's digital resurrection in The Book of Boba Fett. All we know is that the episode credits an actor named Scott Lang as Skywalker's stunt double, and Graham Hamilton as the performance artist."

...Ant that my friends is how the Star Wars and Marvel universes will collide.

It's probably Legends material, but I'd swear I read in one of the novels or the comics that Luke did not subscribe to the "No Attachments" teachings after ROTJ.  He relies on his attachments to his dad, his sister, his friends, and I'm not sure that actually makes any of the Jedi better.  Anyone recall this or am I dreaming?  I guess it makes sense if you fast forward to old Luke not staying in touch with Han or Leia, but I figured that was more from blaming himself for what happened to Ben than conforming to the older notions of Jedi attachment.
