Watto's Junk Yard / Yet Another Video Game Movie
« on: April 16, 2003, 06:25 PM »
I think all I have to say about this entire debacle is.... "meh".

Come one, come all and lay witness to yet another superbly craptastic video game movie! This time, based on the 36DD fighting game (edited) also known as the Dead or Alive series. While the quality of the video game series is a moot point, what isn't totally invalid here is that fact that somehow yet another video game is being transformed into a movie:

http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=topNews&storyID=2526046

All fanboy jokes aside, I just cant help but laugh at the fact that the company that created the Resident Evil movie is not only still in business, but is also creating more video game movies. And the best part, not only will this revolve around the fighting women, but it will also contain bikini babe volleyball scenes, as a tribute to Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball...

Im a huge video game fan, and yes I will admit, I own both Dead or Alive 3 and DOA Xtreme Beach Volleyball for XBox. And, all jokes aside, the games do have their own merits, and they do provide a decent amount of gameplay. Sure, the entire purpose of DOA XBV is to buy your women more naughty bikinis and swimsuits, but at its heart is a very decent volleyball game. And since I hate the sand and sun (unless it involves Tequilla), this is a great way to get in some imaginary volleyball from my nice dark air conditioned room. My point is this though; THEY'RE MAKING A FREAKING MOVIE ABOUT THIS!

Ah, I feel better.

Ah, its been too long since I've had the crap beat out of me by a woman! :)

The last time was when my now ex girlfriend broke my nose at the mall, because I wouldn't get her something.

I brought a case of Pilsner Urquell with me tonight for everyone to try that hasn't already. Gotta love a good Czech beer. I know I do.  :)

Be still my beating heart, I love Pilsner Urquell.

Gotta love LaTrappe Quadrupel too, in a nice big wine-bottle sized clay bottle :)

Well I think its time I step up to ye ol' preverbial bar and have myself a few drinks...

Lets start it off with about 5 pints of Guiness on tap, room temperature. Some Crown Royal sounds nice right about now as well. And I think I'll finish the night off with some Saki bombers

Dear god how did I miss this thread...

So Carrie, what your saying is, you want me to get in a ring with two gstring clad mud mavens, and watch them slip and slide all over one another until one manages to pin the other; then I am supposed to do the count?

Tell ya what C; if you supply me with about 9 pints of Guiness (off tap, not that bottled or canned crap), and a half pint of Crown Royal, and I might just be sloshed enough to consider it ;) Of course, as my drunkeness goes up, my usefulness as a referee will probably go down. I think I could handle the announcing though! :)

So when does the female version of this little escapade happen?

Definately remember having many a vinyl cape Jawas. My brother and I had a small army, and I specifically remember getting some with cloth capes and swapping them with vinyl capes... lol There is probably a little stack of ten vinyl capes for Jawas tucked away in a box somewhere. Ah who am I kidding, they were probably sold in the great garage sales of the 80s as well.

Buy a pair of parachute pants and get five Star Wars figures for free.

Ive been collecting all of the Koto kits (you can see them here http://home.earthlink.net/~adamclowe/FrameSet.htm)

They are all absolutely beautiful, and Jango Fett is amazing!

It seems like these caught on kind of late, I finished my Koto collection a few months ago, but it seems that only as of late have people really started talking about them.

It pains me to think, at one point in the mid 80s, I probably had one of these. At a slightly later point in the mid 80s, it was probably sold for a nickle at a garage sale. Please excuse me whilst I sob myself to sleep.

Truly a fantastic find! Congratulations!

Modern Classifieds / Re: For Sale: LEGO Clone Building Event Kit
« on: April 14, 2003, 10:23 PM »
This was part of an official Hasbro/LEGO/Frito Lay Star Wars promotional event, held at Wal Mart stores in mid May of 2002 (on the 18th I believe). The event was called the "Jedi Training Academy", and had little game stations to test your Jedi Skills. I was able to get the entire Wal Mart promotional kit, this is just a portion of it. The big part is a 5 foot tall, three sided "building" with electronics, where you use electronic lightsabers and hit lights on enemies as they blink.

This piece is from the LEGO Clone Building section. You were supposed to reach into the box and build as many Clone minifigs as possible in 60 seconds.

A complete set consists of 150 clonetroopers, but they are few and far between. I had to purchase a second set to build one complete set. Some stores lost pieces, some gave them away. Each store was under very strong orders by LEGO to immediately destroy all of the pieces following the event; some made their way to Ebay, this one made its way home with me, as the employee at WalMart was nice enough to "dispose" of these into the back of my car ;) And yes, its all official and was produced by LEGO. :)

This is the only 100% complete set that I know of.
