There were two unliscensed cardboard dioramas made by a company called Dragon, one a Millenium Falcon, the other a Vader style helmet.

Other Collectibles / Re: Star Wars Clix?
« on: March 22, 2003, 10:02 PM »
I used to be really into Mage Knight (collecting, not really playing), and I think Star Wars would be really great in a Clix line! WOTC hsa been expressing an interest in this liscense, so perhaps we will see these down the road.

The only problem I have is with all the extras, and the setup of rarity. I realize to keep it a game you have to set rarity levels, but going outside the set is what turned me away from Mage Knight and Hero Clix; there are just way to many convention exclusives, mail exclusives, tournament exclusives, etc. For a completist like me, I'd go nuts (and broke) trying to get them all. Combine that with a group of people who get mad because they cant find the figure that was released yesterday (Im not saying everyone, just those who really think like that), and you also get a lot of people that will ruin the hobby for others.

If they kept the set within the bounds of the actual retail set, I'd be all for it.  They could make some cool expansion stuff as well (ala Mage Knight castles, etc). They could easily make a lot of scale vehicles, environments and other stuff. Not to mention the fact that the Star Wars TCG isn't doing well, and all of the mini roleplayers are doing quite well, WOTC would be foolish to not look into it!

Ok, maybe a bit too tough?

Here's a hint:

He also starred in Vertigo, Rear Window, had a small role in Rope, and has a best friend named Harvey, who happens to be a 6'3" rabbit...

Other Collectibles / Re: Star Wars Autographs
« on: March 22, 2003, 09:46 PM »
All of my autographs have been from either "official" Star Wars sources, or Star Wars conventions. So far I have 3 Celebration 1 passes signed (Anthony Daniels, Ahmed Best, Ray Park and hope to order the Mark Hammil signed Luke saber), and 2 signed Master Replicas props, with a third on the way (Christopher Lee, Dave Prowse, James Earl Jones, Ray Park). The others are from Holloywood Expo/C2 Ventures. I bought the ultimate autograph set at C2, and a signed Vader print with JEJ's and DP's autos. I'd say the best way would be to either go through an official site like Wattographs, Autographabillia or Hollywood Expo, or to attend conventions whenever possible (especially Celebration III which will hopefully have another nice autograph area).

The C2 Ultimate Autograph Set had at least one autograph from each of these actors:
Amy Allen
Kenny Baker
Shannon Baksa
Jerome Blake
Paul Blake
Bruce Boa
Michonne Bourriague
Phile Brown
Jeremy Bulloch
Michael Carter
Ken Colley
Warwick Davis
Peter Diamond
Mike Edmonds
Carrie Fisher
Julian Glover
Rusty Goff
Garrick Hagon
John Hollis
William Hootkins
Nalani Krishan
Richard Leparmentier
Ian Liston
Daniel Logan
Angus Macinnes
Peter Mayhew
Bonnie Piesse
Dave Prowse
Mike Quinn
Tim Rose
Alan Ruscoe
Michael Sheard
Femi Taylor
Billy Dee Williams

Watto's Junk Yard / Ultimate Trivia: The Official Thread!
« on: March 22, 2003, 09:29 PM »
Many sites have trivia threads dedicated to specific movies, or shows, events, etc, but not this one! Welcome to the official Ultimate Trivia thread! Any trivia goes, as long as it has a real and valid answer. Try to at least keep this on the level of Trivial Pursuit (ie no Advanced Astrophysics or Thermodynamics of Metals Under Stress type questions). All you have to do is answer the question correctly, and ask your own question! Perhaps if we work hard enough, we can beat out that darned Word Association thread ;)

I'll get the ball rolling:

Who plays Ben McKenna in Alfred Hitchcock's "The Man Who Knew Too Much"?

Que sera, sera. Whatever will be, will be. The future's not our's to see. Que sera, sera, what will be, will be...

Technically, isn't it always between October and March? Unless you are in October or March in which case you cant really be "between" the two months. Wow, a loophole! Technically you can never take baths in Indiana!

There are some other ones, but we will spare the kids ;)

Other Collectibles / Star Wars Fact Files
« on: March 22, 2003, 09:15 PM »

Does anyone here subscribe to the Official Star Wars Fact Files? I subscribed when they first started, and have managed to get every issues thus far, for the excpetion of one: issue #61. If you collect these, and have an extra, or if you live in the UK and can get an extra, could you please contact me? I'd hate for this to be the only issue I never get in my collection!

If you are unaware of what the Fact Files are, I'll tell you a little about them. Each issue is like a miniature magazine, about 10 pages, all loosely bound. Within each issue are seperately labeled pages. Ultimately, as you collect issues, you seperate all of the pages, and arrange them by category (Battles & Events, Characters, Planets & Locations, Weapons & Technology, Droids and Vehicles).  Included with the first and every 20th issue is a binder to store the Fact Files. Ultimately these will build one large continual guide of the Star Wars Universe.

Watto's Junk Yard / Strange Laws
« on: March 22, 2003, 09:02 PM »
They're strange! They're real! They're THE LAW!

One of my favorites, haling from Southbend, Indiana:

Quote
It is illegal to make a monkey smoke a cigarette
Although, I guess it is perfectly legal to allow a monkey to smoke a cigarette under its own free will. What about apes? Can you force them to smoke a cigarette? And what about cigars? Can you force monkeys to smoke cigars? What if they're organ grinders? They need a break every now and then; is it ok to offer them a cigarette, so long as they are not feeling coerced into smoking it? Are cigarette manufacturers allowed to target primates in their ads? Are they required to pay damages to the owners of primates who succumb to smoking related illnesses?

Here are some other humorous Indiana laws:
Quote
The value of Pi is 4, and not 3.1415.
"Spiteful Gossip" and "talking behind a person's back" are illegal
Mustaches are illegal if the bearer has a tendency to habitually kiss other humans.
No one may catch a fish with his bare hands.
One may not sniff glue.
Baths may not be taken between the months of October and March.

I'm glad Im a showering man! :)

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Animatrix
« on: March 22, 2003, 08:29 PM »
I saw Dreamcatcher on Friday, so in turn I also saw Last Flight of the Osiris. The animation reminded me a lot of Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, it looks like it was done by Square Studios (can anyone confirm this?). It was pretty good for what it was, really nice looking. Some of it was a bit corny, like the sword striptease (hey, go see it if you want to know what Im talking about), but it had a good feel for The Matrix. Definately got me in a Matrix kind of mood! Cant wait for the Special Edition DVD to come out in a few months, then we can get the Animatrix DVD, then two awesome films! Truly a year for The Matrix!

And let's not forget those AWESOME McFarlane toys! :)
