Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Costco Appreciation Thread!

My gf works there so I have a free lifetime membership!  I love the prices on books, but you have to watch out for other things.  Sometimes stuff there just seems cheap until you do a little math.

Rush hour in T.O. lasts from 7am to 8pm Monday to Friday.  Thank God I work long, long hours so I usually only have to drive in "prime time" one way.

I could die a happy man if I saw the original Mighty Van Halen play just once.
And I would die a happier man if Page, Plant, and Jones played together again as well, preferrably with a Bonham on drums.

Eddie Van Halen at #70?  Come on.... :'(
And thinking Steve Vai is better than Chuck Berry...playing fast is not the same as playing good.

If you're a fan of the books I can't see how any version except the Extended one coming in November will do.   The Extended version of FOTR was leagues ahead of the theatrical version IMO.
Of course, if you haven't read the books or don't know the difference between Fangorn Forest and Mirkwood then you won't give hoom hom one way or the other.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Chronicles of Narnia
« on: August 8, 2003, 11:35 PM »
This is driving me crazy:  the first book in the Chronicles of Narnia is and always has been "The Magician's Nephew", not the more famous "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe."

Great movie!  Johnny Depp was brilliant as usual and Keira Knightly - WOW!
The GF and I really enjoyed the references to the ride at Disney World, which has always been my favourite since I was  wee bairn.
And I second the notion you should stay for the credits.

I fell asleep during "Tombstone".  Probably the worst movie I ever paid to see in a theatre.  I'm usually pretty careful.

Congrats, guys!  A great site indeed.  I find myself checking in here more than the BHC these days.  Keep up the good work!

Whenever my GF wanders into the computer room and sees the familiar BHC logo (or JD or Snowtroopers) she just kinda rolls here eyes and asks me what I'm talking about with "my Star Wars nerd friends." :P
She likes SW and all but doesn't quite understand my obsession with it.  And as long as we're in the black she never says boo about the packages in the mail either 8)

Then, on to Asia and the Pacific!

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: The frustrations of home buying...
« on: May 20, 2003, 11:52 PM »
We paid $186 000 for a 800 sq ft 2-bedroom bungalow :'(
And that was a GOOD deal!!!
Growing up as I did in Niagara in big houses it was quite a shock to see the prices here in the city.  186 grand would buy a lot of house down in St. Catharines/Niagara.
Too bad there's no jobs down there.
About the commute:  most days in T.O. it can take you an hour to drive 10km in rush hour, which lasts from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday.
