Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Greatest Album of All Time?
« on: November 10, 2004, 06:56 PM »
Ok you all are nuts!!  ;D Though some good choices, and though Morgbug got it close, the greatest album of all time is.......

Led Zeppelin IV!!

This album is the pinnacle of rock as it turned Zeppelin in rock gods. Every song on this album became a single  and thus a #1 hit. Each is a staple of any true rock station today as a week can't go by where I won't hear each song played on the radio. For those who may not be familiar with this album (shame on you if you aren't!) here's the tracklist to THE Greatest Album Of ALL Time....

1. Black Dog
2. Rock and Roll
3. Battle of Evermore
4. Stairway to Heaven
5. Misty Mountain
6. Four Sticks
7. Going to California
8. When the Levee Breaks

* Rebel Officer (utilizing Saga Hoth Luke body)

* Randomly colored R2 Unit (Saga Bar2-D2 sans hole in head)
* Hangar bay sled w/ crates

* Two Rebel Soldiers (utilizing parts from any combo of Hoth Soldier/Officer figures, whatever will make unique figures), one should be able to man a trench cannon

* Randomly colored 3PO unit (POTJ M-3PO)
* Holographic Table

* Rebel Pilot (A-Wing, Y-Wing, or B-Wing, utilizing previous figures)
* Randomly colored R3 unit (POTJ R3-T7)
* Holographic Endor/DS2 to fit onto Table

* Biker Scout (POTJ)

* Catapult w/ 2 boulders

Most of the figures require little work, in fact the most work will be in making new headsculpts, of which Hasbro could utilize from other toylines (GI Joe) without anyone noticing a difference. Most of the accessories would be new which would likely cause Hasbro to bump the MSRP a bit, but if they utilize the best figures available to make this set it could work out nicely. More to come as I think of em....

Has the trailer been released online for people who aren't members of Hyperspace to download? I taped it off of Access Hollywood, but I'd like to look at a crisper version of it

BTW is it just me or do the two scenes in the trailer with Yoda and the first one with Mace Windu look to be shots of the Jedi Masters from AOTC superimposed on new backgrounds? (Sorry if this was mentioned earlier in the thread, but I didn't want to see potential spoilers that I'm unaware of.)

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Farewell to the old barn.....or....
« on: November 5, 2004, 03:07 AM »
Morgbug, I feel your pain with the loss of two sporting venues that are in the annals of North American sporting history, the Chicago Stadium and the original Comiskey Park. In 1994, the Chicago Stadium which we also called the Old Barn, because it was truly designed to look like a really big barn closed its doors. The Chicago Stadium opened its doors in 1929 as the home for the Blackhawks and would go onto be the home of the NBA's Bulls. It would host NHL, NFL, NBA, Soccer, Boxing, and Wrestling World champiionship events in its 65 year history and would have some extremely memorable non-sporting events roll thru such as the political conventions, Elvis, rodeos, Ringling Bros. circus and so on.

As an 8 year old kid I had the chance to goto a Bulls game in 1986 (thanx to some free tix from my dad's boss) following the return from injury of the greatest athlete of all time Michael Jordan. While an exciting moment for me, the one thing I wanted to do was see the Blackhawks live. I didn't get the chance to do that until April of 1994 when I would go to the 3rd to last regular season home game for the Blackhawks as they would defeat their rival St. Louis Blues. Sitting in a cramped corner of the Stadium, seeing my first hockey game was a thrilling moment for me and a sobering one for my dad who took me to the game. In the 60's and 70's when guys like Hull, Mikita, Hall, and Esposito played for the Hawks, he and my grandfather had season tickets at center ice, and only now in it's dying days could he take me to a game.

We had a blast that night, as I was all decked out in my Hawks road jersey for #27 Jeremy Roenick and Hawks ballcap and I remember running all around the Stadium trying to look at every nook and cranny, looking for the infamous rats, trying to peek into the lockerroom and of course taking a leak in the troughs in the bathroom (something that still exists at Wrigley Field). Then the national anthem started, and if you've ever seen the 1991 All-Star game, you know that the national anthem at the Chicago Stadium was an event unto itself and the goose bumps formed down my arms. Sadly, I would find out later that I bore witness to the last grand affair of the anthem as singer Wayne Messmer was shot in the throat later that night following the game. Wayne would never get a chance to sing the anthem again at the old Stadium or for the Blackhawks, though he does sing for the AHL's Wolves (a team he has ownership in) and does so as great as he did a decade ago. The game was of course exciting in it's own right, the Hawks beat the Blues and the raucous crowd had much to cheer about.

Being at the Chicago Stadium for that game in 94 is a fond memory I will carry with me to my grave. I still occassionally wear a t-shirt I bought that night commemorating the "Remember The Roar" campaign that honored the Stadium. The shirt is all worn down and probably is a size too small for me, but it's still nice to wear it and think back. One thing to be thankful for the NHL's lockout this year is that the newest sports station added to our cable lineup which would normally air the Hawks road games (they still will not show home games on TV, Bill Wirtz must die before that can happen), has been showing classic Hawks games from the early 90's every Thursday night. Tonight they aired game 4 of the 1992 Campbell Conference Semi-Finals where the Hawks defeated the vile Detroit Red Wings 1-0 to sweep the Wings out of the playoffs, a home game which was aired due to a failed pay per view experiment. That would be the year the Hawks made it to the Stanley Cup finals only to lose to JJ's Penguins, it would also mark the 3rd time in 4 seasons that the Hawks would reach the Conference finals. They would go onto do it 2 more times in the next 3 seasons for a whopping 5 out of 7 Conf final appearances. Then they would go on to have only 2 playoff appearances in the next 9 seasons. It's great to be able to relive those memories from the Old Barn just as if it was yesterday.....

..."Why does Access Hollywood come on TV?"

Two words:  NancyO'dell.   :o

Good God she's smokin' hot.  ****, get with the program Jas!   ;)

Was that the blonde chick or is she the black chick? Cause really if it was the blonde chick I can certainly do with out her. I was calling her all sorts of names before and after the trailer aired cause she and some pre-fab poser assclown guy were making all sorts of asinine comments and it was disrupting my enjoyment of watching the trailer.

Maybe your dog is just screwing with you, getting you to think something is wrong with it so you can pay more attention to her or go nuts yourself over it. :)

Really though, is it possible there are pipes or wiring under that area she refuses to by? Perhaps something there is making a sound that she can hear but you may not necessarily be able to.

So I caught the show to check out the Episode 3 trailer and man does that show suck! Seriously, what kind of idiot watches that show on a regular basis? It makes me think the title of this thread should be changed to "Why does Access Hollywood come on TV?"

It depends, as part of fulfilling my wishes and personal needs, do I get the ability to determine who lives and who dies? Well I guess that's more for being omnipotent rather than being involved in a global conspiracy, but still I'd like to have that option.

Original Trilogy Collection / Re: VOTC/OTC Purchases
« on: October 31, 2004, 01:29 AM »
I'm finally caught up with the OTC (the figures I wanted from it) and thus caught up on all basic figures until the Prequel wave hits.  I found General Lando and Madine at a Target early this week, then Thursday night I read on scum that the walmart by my house had that wave as of 5 minutes to closing time. So after work friday morning, I stopped by and sure enough there they were and I scored the AT-ST Han to round out the OTC. Now I just need to find the elusive C-3PO to round out the VOTC. Anyone know when the Prequel Senate/Padme wave is coming out?

Well I wasn't aware of this, but the next 2 Alternators have been released, Tracks (Corvette Z06) and Meister (Mazda RX-8). I picked them up tonight, and they are great looking figures, my only complaints would be that Tracks legs are very rigid which does not allow for a good pose range, while Meister's head is limited in movement due to the design of the chest. Otherwise, these are the best Alternators yet!
