Title: Star Wars Weekends Cantina Band Members
Post by: Jesse James on May 16, 2007, 01:51 AM
As per the front page there...  Lots of crap to find at Star Wars Weekends in Disney, however none will make a completist pull his hair out quite like the Cantina Band Exclusives (http://www.jedidefender.com/newspro/fullnews.cgi?newsid1179294165,73852,)! :)

5 figures, all repacks it seems, with new light & sound bases...  I'm likening this to C3 Vader in coolness terms.  Vader's neat but doesn't deliver a lot.  This delivers light and sound, kind of cool, might be a plus to displaying them...  Makes me that much more thankful I didn't buy the WM Tin by the way incase I get these, you at least get something new.

I think I'm just going to keep my eyes open to see if the bases turn up on Ebay. The wife got me the Wal-Mart tin for Valentines  Day so there's no point in buying these over again. Pretty cool idea though.

I did not buy the tins.  I have always wanted these on a card.  I like the bases and music concept.  Pretty cool exclusives.

I ended up picking up the Tin on sale mainly for the Art on the Tin- my favorite card from the Galaxies I set... and I thought the instruments were WAY better for my cantina scene than the brown originals.   I haven't opened up the figures though and I'm going to HAVE to get at least the bases (if not the whole shebang).

Why HASBRO Why!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really like these. I got the tin too... but...

Nothing says 30th anniversary like the band !

There has to be someone hitting the Weekends this year...

Beuller ? Beuller ????

I want these but will not be at the weekend? Anyone going? Any chance these will be offered through the order line? I am going to Disney in September wish the weekend was then.

When are the weekends? These look very cool (if I can find them)! Leave it to Hasblo to make the coolest stuff the exclusives.  :P

The bases look like they interlock so you can make the stage that alone is enough to buy it. I guess the set I have now will be used for customs.....

I wonder how much these will be.

Saturday and Sunday  ;)

A few months ago, fans got a sneak peek at four new exclusive maquettes bound for this year's Star Wars Weekends at Disney-MGM Studios in Florida. Visitors will have a bunch more exclusives waiting for them this year when the annual event stops in for four consecutive weekends between June 1 and June 24, with a great poster, pins, figures and other collectibles now readying for release.

Have their exclusives ever been available online??  I'm starting to get a bit peeved about all of these exclusive carded figs everywhere.  ::)

Have their exclusives ever been available online??

Some people had luck gettting the Disney exlusive Star Tours figures via an phone order number, but they have never been on-line by Disney before.

They say that these figures are Star Wars Weekends exclusive, so it will be interesting to see if they are only sold during the Weekends events or if they will filter out to the other Disney locations as well...

Ah, now I remember....but say you want one of each carded, how is Joe or Sally in the shipping dept going to tell the the difference.  I mean besides the instrument they're all the same so I doubt they'd be able to tell.  I missed the boat on w3 & w4 of the Star Tours stuff and it's pretty difficult to spot a complete set (in one auction) of either wave on eBay.

When an item is a limited edition, such as these figures, they typically are not made available through the Disney Mail Order department. Hopefully this may change, but it is not too likely.

Sadly, we probably wont see these over here on the West Coast at Disneyland either.

BUT>.... there may be the chance to get these after the weekends are over... they hit the store.

We have called for things to be shipped from the store and gotten them...

Just have to wait it out.

That is true. If there are leftovers, then they will be available through Mail Order.

I thought I read that they were 14.99 each - but it's entirely possible that I made that up.

Tip from the Hasbro reps at C4:

These WILL be available through Disney's toll free # for orders, and if you place an order and want a complete set of all five, you should tell them that you want an UNOPENED case of the Cantina figures.  There's two of each of the 5 different figures in each case (you'll need to find a friend in need too if you just want one set).  They said if you simply order a set of 5 Band Members, odds are you won't get one of each, since the Disney folks packing the stuff up won't know the difference between the (instruments of the) various Band Members, once they're all opened up.

I don't recall the price right now either though.

Are those available to order now? Or is there a date we can order them? What's the number by the way?

I was told the same at C4 and also found out that the bases are exactly the same and don't interlock (old news?)  I'd like to get one (Doikk) just to get the base.  Otherwise- they're the same as the cantina tins figures.

Post by: Oboewan on July 16, 2007, 11:05 AM
Hey everyone!   A friend of mine just got back from Disney World and actually was able to pick up a Doikk Na'ts for me.   For $16 this is a total rip off.   Granted, we all knew these were repacks of the cantina tin, that the bases didn't interlock and that they all played the same Cantina tune.   I thought it would be cool to add some actual music to my Cantina dianoga and figured I get one of these.   I'm so pissed that there's is that there's like 10seconds of music.
I figured they'd at least put the whole song in there but no... Hasblo are cheapskates!   :o

I shelled out $100 for my set of five.  Am I dissapointed with the set?  Absolutely not.  Am I upset at how much I paid for them?  Absolutely.  I was suprised to find that the bubbles for these are twice as big as a normal TAC fig, but I guess that explains why they ship in a case of ten and I guess that's why I'm a sucker for buying them.  The bases are really cool and they sure look like they connect with each other, but I dare not open them for the price I paid.

ahhhh exclusivity...  :-\

The bases not connecting was something I was told by Hasbro at CIV... looking at mine it does indeed look like there's a tab to connect.   It would have been cool if each base was different and "continued" the tune when connected to one of the others.   That'd really be the only reason for me to get them.  As a loose collector, I've already got a 2 sets of the band- the original (yeah.. I picked up 6 of em) and the Cantina Tin.

As for Excusivity... i'm "almost" to the point of tearing open my Max Rebo Band Kubricks I picked up at CIV..

Several months later, I'm finally getting around to ordering my case of these.  So does anyone actually have the 1-800 Disney Delivers phone number, or should I go hunting for it?

So what was the final word on this from anyone who may have opened their set up?  Did they connect, or not?  Seems we've got several people suggesting both sides to that debate in here...

If anyone by chance has an extra base (opened) that they don't want, I'd gladly buy it off you for $6 (or trade for it).  Holler if you do!

1(800)362-4533

Apparently that's the Disneyland (only) number.  I'll stick the WDW # in here for everyone else's reference: (407) 363-6200.

So I just called that number, and they told me that they don't sell these by the case - AT ALL.  The jerk on the phone said they only sell them individually, and that there's no guarantee on which ones I'll get.  That makes no sense (which I told him) based on everything I've heard from Hasbro and the folks that I thought had ordered these things the same way.  Perhaps if you tell them "Quantity = 10", then someone may ship a sealed case, but the guy told me that wasn't true either.

Has anyone actually ordered a case of these things here?  If so, how'd you make it work?  Maybe I just got a jackass operator who didn't know better, though he says he's sold many of these over the past several months, but NEVER by a case.

Disney ratbastards.  :-X

Like the stage the figures are still outdated, would have liked updated figures.
