The Vintage Collection / Re: Toy Fair 2012
« on: February 20, 2012, 02:37 PM »
Like JJ I was bummed of no mail away mentioned. I thought the Proto Fett was the best one yet because it fits into the collection nicley and makes a cool generic Mando. I was hoping to see a a Sebastian Shaw Ghost Anakin be the next MA figure, that would truly hearken back to Kenner nostalgia. I have to say overall Hasbro has a great line on tap this year how anyone could be disappointed is beyond me. I do question the choice of the Droid Closet Tank but it's still neat that they made it. Seeing how the TPM flopped only makes the choice seem more like a "I told you so". I am still committing to buying one.

Like other debut figures I think Tarkin will look better in production. I hope they use a thicker cloth material like the Target Han Hoth, I think it would blend in a little better. I like how they tackled so many much needed re-sculpts in one year, it fills a lot of holes in my collection. I am hopeful we will see Yakface, Ree-Yees and Snaggletooth at SDCC. STAN said to expect them more or less so it must be true...

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: The Future of the Clone Wars Toy Line?
« on: February 17, 2012, 05:46 PM »
Going forward produce them all in realistic style and the problem is solved. Guys like me watch the show, like the new characters but hate the cartoon look in the figures. I would have bought every figure had they been realistic from the start, i picked up only a handful and they were the ones that looked realistic enough. I like where they are going with the first three characters shown at TF and I hope they make more. Cad and Savage next please!

I can see two more seasons max with this show. The shows story is nearing the events ROTS already there is no way they can drag it out for that much longer unless it becomes CloneWars: The Adventures of Ki-Adi Mundi and Mundi Squad.

Yes, I'll get one of each big item at full price, regardless of what it is.  I feel with as much as I've spent on this hobby and as much as I push for these bigger items, it would be hypocritical of me to wait for clearance - and if people like me aren't willing to pay the retail price, then I'm not sure we're going to see the big items continue into the future.

Ditto here.
I really want a Sailbarge and Tantive IV in my collection one day so I always support the Big Guys as well at full price when it hits. While I think this is a weal choice when compared to what big ships should get made first it's still cool they actually made this. If they made this they can make the Sailbarge!

You CAN rack folded droids works with this it just does not come with them.

I think this is going to rot on shelves like the Shuttle but only worse. $140? I can't see the average schmoe plunking down for this it does not look agressive at all. Do kids really want to dispense BD's? TPM basically flopped so I questions their wisdom on banking on this. I will buy one to support the line but that's it. (Yeah, where is the sailbarge? I want a place for all of those Jabba goons to hang out.)

Discover the Force / Movie Heroes / Re: Movie Heroes Battle Packs
« on: February 15, 2012, 04:32 PM »
It seems BP's these days are all top tier characters so they make some sense from a marketing perspective. I am glad they have new tooling it better that outdated sculpts with nothing new for the collector. If these are killer sculpts as Galactic Hunter reports I am ok with this.

I am not too happy with the current EP1 Obi he can stand for a lot of improvements the articulation is too hindered. Qui-Gon is not as bad but really needs a new head sculpt and for sure a new Lightsaber, they better retire the 1999 one. I bet maul will have a new head and wait for it....a new left glove without the probe droid controller. They milked those tools like no tomorrow because these were coming.

I like the idea of a battle damaged Luke with some new tooling but Vader and Boba? The upcoming Vader with the ball jointed hips and a new hand is a nice upgrade but what more can you do with him. I am 100% happy with the current ESB Fett he is perfect. (Ball Jointed hips for him is not needed if that's what they had in mind.
I agree this could have been the perfect time to get a updated Lando. I get the need for Luke and Vader for a battles sake but Lando would have made sense since he dealt with Vader and save a battle damaged Luke from the weathervane...

These sound like they may be half decent, truth be told I miss the days of cool BP's that had new stuff. As JJ pointed out it at least justifies the price more.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: CW Mandalorian Troop Shuttle

Thanks guys for the heads up, I preordered this and a second Republic cannon! I never saw the Mando gunship in the wild and regretted passing on my second chance at the cannon. I already have one but wanted at least two. Glad to see they are getting last years stock!

Thanks for the fix JJ!

Discovered the Force again big time later in the evening, persistence paid off:
x1 Aurra Sing (2 total)
x4 Gungan (5 total)
x4 Naboo Pilot (5 total)
x2 Ric Olie
x1 Destroyer with recolored shield (2 total)
x2 Vulture Droids

I might grab two more Destroyers if I see them but dropped enough loot for one day on SW figures. I also want a few more pilots and gungans but it sounds like we will have more shots at them. It's nice to be finished with box stroes for awhile....

Discovered the Force minus Ric Olie:
x1 Aurra Sing
x1 Mawhonic
x1 R8-BFF?
x1 Gungan
x1 Naboo Pilo
x1 Destroyer with recolored sheild

God, I cant wait for this hunt to be over. This is the most trips I have taken to the stores in years....

Just fixed your broken bold code for ya JACK. - Jesse

I discovered the Force a little late missing Ric Olie but got the other 5 new figures and I picked up the improved Destroyer Droid. The sheild is recolored to reflect the movie more and you can see through it to recreate the sheild effect. I have to find three more now but it does look good. I like when they upgrade carry forward figures it gives me reason to buy them more.

I did not see an endcap they were just on the pegs with Qui-Gon and Yoda left. somepicked up Maul, Obi and Ric. I never thought I would go on the hunt for Ric Olie...the wave is great and I will buy several more Gungans and Naboo generics. Wal-Mart got the best deal as far as exclusives go.

It looks like they recolored the Destroyer Droid Bubble to a more accurate color from the TAC version. I may picked up 4 when I see them. These were also spotted in GA. So the south seems to be breaking these out. Hopefully they will show up soon, I am looking forward to having all of the Pod Flags. ;)

I sure hope so despite it's problems this line is top notch. And as history repeats itself the mainline of SW always comes out on top. If the line up holds these will do well. I think the EP3 cloneTrooper will be the Shocktrooper using the VC45 buck like the 501st. I can also see the sandtrooper upgraded with dirt and the remote controlled 97 SE droid.

Skipped the battledroid.  I won't buy something underscaled at this point and price.  I'll stick with my old droids that are the proper height.

Yeah, I'm hoping they release the taller SA version again, with a paint application like they did on the IG-97 droid... with a Battle Droid head though of course.  Preferably with sculpted eye sockets too.

The Blue Ray commemorative version is the closet thing to this. I am dumping my 14 on eBay as they are just too flimsy. The Saga Legends Maroon one had sturdier plastic, consistency Hasbro consistency...

Jack, Hasbro loves you

If they really loved me they would have came through on the SDCC Death Star set.... ;)

Not to add to paranoia, but I always worry about WM exclusives, they are so hit and miss around here.

I am with you, that's why I ordered them online. WM is too wishy washy, I am half tempted to buy the Vulture Droid to save the headache but since I am looking for their exclusive wave I figured I wait.

-Sidious...  Pretty cool figure all around.  Other than he can't really be posed with the hood on so you can have him look different directions other than down (or so it appears), he really is nice.

Are his hands re-used from the Evolutions Palpatine?  They're very wrinkly and old looking, and don't match the character's head.  That's my only gripe with him ultimately.

JJ, the hands are actually a new sculpt. The arms and legs are the only reused parts. The arms from the Evo Palp and the legs from the VC Senate Duel Sidious.)

FYI - On a sdie note I picked up the Target Sidious Maul pack because they changed the paint on Palps skin tone and it looks the best of all of the realeases.
