I have been watching a lot of customs on eBay latley. Whether it be carded, 12" or dioramas, these customs seem to go for a lot of money & I think sometimes bidders get trapped by not reading the description that it is a custom. Here are some examples:
Vintage Stormtrooper & custom card (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3143316351&category=2475&rd=1) :o
Custom Bespin "Dinner with Vader" (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3142983994&category=2476) Figures not included! ::)
3 Custom Star Wars Clone Trooper figures (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3142863106&category=2476) ???
Here's another one I just found:
Boba Fett Droids card moc CUSTOM (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3142987160&category=2475)
Now I can understand the custom Bespin room has a lot of work that has gone into it, but that Stormtrooper takes the cake! Is it because some people can't afford the real Mccoy or am I missing something here?
-
I don't know either, I have noticed it in the past as well... I honestly think the seller of the stormtrooper has friends shill bidding for him, reason I feel this way is because I put two very nice Custom Carded Vintage Figures priced at a real good price. They didn't get a single bid.
Luke Jedi Clicky (http://valtarzcustomzartz.com/Sale/Lukesale.html)
Snowtrooper Clicky (http://valtarzcustomzartz.com/Sale/Snowtrooper.html)
As you can see the Cards are custom designed ... everything else though is Vintage including all accessorys, heh... maybe no one liked them, I don't know but, for someone to get a figure that high on a repro card I would have to say Shill bidding.
Oh and if you guys dont want me linking the two custom carded Figures I had done feel free to remove them I was just showing them as a example.
-
these auctions are one of the reasons i'm against selling customs. some of these people not only are scamming someone (especially the clonetrooper one, $33 for 3 red clones repainted? I just bought 3 at kb for $6 total!) but because of the scamming they are giving the customizing community a bad name. people have an inherent ability to link one person to an entire group and thats what happens often in these situations. there are many who sell their customs because they need to make money and while I reckon thats a bit more understandable, if they arent good customizers they are selling garbage (the clonetroopers again) to people who could have made the customs themselves for a lot less. then you have the whole vintage repro issue, couldnt people tell that the stormtrooper wasnt in the best condition anyways? sheesh a fool and their money... ok enough ranting now ;D
-
I completely agree on the Clonetroopers. Buy them cheap & do a custom youesrelf. Maybe some people are just plain lazy! :-\
Now its hard to say if it is shill bidding at this time though it does look like its heading that way.
Here's on that user 435888 won: Boba Fett MOC (21 Back) (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3143125166)
Notice that he is from Australia & so is the seller. Even the Stormtropper auction is from Australia so it may lead that way. Need more time to watch there selling & buying.
But unlike the Sormtrooper auction, 435888 bid first 5 days before the next bidder came in & tried to get to be the higher bidder & just gave up. If he's a shill bidder trying to bid first hoping to get an unsuspecting bidder to come in & pass the high bid, looks like this did not work.
Bidder History (http://cgi6.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=3143316351)
Heck, I even have a cd I bought for custom cardbacks. Just buy one of those or look on the net & find the sites that post customs cardbacks & make your own.
Like you said:
a fool and their money...
Ditto! ;)
-
Well, this guy does the Custom Card backs all the time and by the time they go off they fetch a high price all around, I dont know if he shill bids but He keeps the repro Cards up all the time. needless to say he also uses repro weapons in his custom carded Figures.
VINTAGE C9 DOUBLE TELESCOPIC VADER ON 12 B (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3144072710&category=2475)
As far as the Clone troopers go I just think that the bidders are lazy and will pay for someone to do it for them. I know if I see a super looking custom that I never tried to make, but wished I had I may put a $20 to $30 bid on them, just to have it, that is really rare but it could happen if I see something I really like.
-
I've never bought a custom off of anyone before, but if I were to buy a custom it sure wouldn't be off eBay. I would rather buy one off someone who has a good name for themselves... a reputable customizer. Someone who has really put a lot of sweat and tears into their work. Yeah, there are some really good customs on eBay, but you really don't know what kind of work they've done on it or what the quality is on their final product.
That "Dinner with Vader" is awesome though! It's a bit steep though IMO. :o
-
I love E-bay !!! It's the essence of free enterprize !! The Wild, Wild West of Cyberspace, but you need to do your homework and know what your doing or you can get ripped off "Buyer Beware" you know !!! ;)
The only custom I've bought was a Motti painted Black !! I looked real cool and w/shipping cost me $5 !!!
Everyone complains about Scalpers, but you only get scalped if you allow your self to !! So people want to complain they can't get the figures they want cuz the "Scalpers" are cleaning the pegs !! I think it's more a distribution problem than Scalpers !!
I look for older loose Items that would be harder to find if it weren't for E-bay !!!
Good deals are out there, but you got to have Patience !!!! ;D

Hi wondering on ebay I found this :o
I´m still in shock :P
(Link removed. Go search eBay, or find the other link Jay posted here earlier if you folks want to check it out some more. Feel free to post the pix in here if you'd like though.) - Matt
-
We're way ahead of ya'! (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=7142.msg136542#msg136542) ;) Yep, that things an absolute beauty. Breathtaking. Over 7 feet long, and 4 feet wide. Already sitting at $2,500 with almost 4 days to go. Should be interesting to see where it finally ends...
BTW, is this the same guy who had the amazing Sail Barge up on eBay a year or two ago? I recall him being somewhere down in South America too (this guy's in Chile)...
And welcome to JediDefender! 8)
- Matt
-
Yeah, welcome aboard to JD... Amazing you posted your first post about this. You should go introduce yourself in the introductions forum....
A very nice Destroyer that's being talked about... Not $2500 nice to me... But a lot of work went into it for sure. I'd dig building one myself but nowhere to display anything that big for certain.
-
If I were a rich man, I would bid on it and try to find some way to win it. But I am not a rich man, so I will instead become depressed over this. :)
:P
-
I would bid on it . But then I would have to live in it.
-
PNL33, we all know now that you are the seller. People over at rebelscum are pretty aggravated at you for posting it to try and act like one of the customizing community while your real intent is to up the price... I understand where you are coming from, and you did an unbelievable job on this... but I don't like the fact that you'd only post here to promote yourself financially.
:P

Ok, once or twice a week I check ebay to look at customs, not to buy, but to get ideas. Check out this bad boy!!! Whoa!

Holy desert-dweller batman!
Something odd about it though.........whats the red on the left leg? Looks like blood to me.
If u make it........I'd def $ one. ;D
-
Woah, that's sweet! What planet is he supposed to be on?
I was looking for customs on ebay last night to get ideas as well and I saw some really neat Lego minifig customs, like this Kit Fisto
Kit Fisto (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=19009&item=5984550776&rd=1)
I saw one without a hood too, but I couldn't find it again. ::)
These Jawas are pretty cool too.

That Clone is what I wanna do for my salve C custom I made but I want to do my clone black or grey with a black or grey cloak . And some battle damage.
-
That clone is one of aeseven7's customs, he makes some fantastic customs.

No CuDa, the fact that:
A) He posted pretending to have "found" it on ebay.
B) Not having the courage to say "Here's my custom that also happens to be on ebay. I thought you customizers would like a look." and possibly ad some insight.
Neither of us said anything to start a fight.
If you'd like to discuss this further, feel free to PM myself or CHEWIE if you have any more problems with what we said.

First of all
Im not your kid
2nd of all
Dont talk if you have nothing good to say
And the fact he said look what I found sounds alot more polite then go buy my Star Destroyer . Im not gona private message ....your not worth my time. And yes It was flat out rude just like 90% of the comments you have. If you dont like somthing and have a rude remark pm the person you have the issue with ... try to practice what you preach kid.

Settle down folks. Here's the deal: Posting links to your own auctions, whether they're kickass customs or some dumb Hasbro figure, is against the rules here at JD (as it is at every other Star Wars collecting forum). So in that respect, yes, what this guy did WAS wrong.
BUT, we figured out the seller and poster here were most likely one and the same last night, but decided to bend the rules just a little and let this one slide due to the sheer brilliance of the work. I'm going to go ahead and remove the actual auction link above though, but feel free to post more pix of it in here if you guys would like, or you can find the original link that Jay posted elsewhere.
Bad form, yes, but one kickass custom! As was his Sail Barge last year. But yeah, coming in here and pretending he had nothing to do with the thing was pretty stupid, and is definitely not going to win him any personal favor amongst our members...
- Matt
-
CuDa, we've never had any fighting going on in this section. EVER. Let's not get it going. Famine is a GREAT guy, and you seem to be too. So let's please not have any bad blood boiling here between you two. Please. :-\
JediMAC is right as far as I'm concerned.
And this is one stellar piece of work. It's unbelievable.
:P
-
I'll do that. I'd really like him to post his stuff here.
This Clone is so cool. I went through some stuff tonight wondering how to make that hood. No luck yet.
:P

I thought this looked cool . Its a Millenium Falcon custom.

I say we listen to JediMAC ... the threads are not for picking fights or talking trash. I came to this site cause it looked cool not to listen to some dudes drama. Im gonna leave it at that .
-
At least somebody's doing something with all of those Neimoidians on the pegs :P
Ha ! no kidding huh. I just thought the paint looked pretty cool .
-
I actually don't like that Niemodian, I saw it the other night, the guy who is selling them has a couple other figures all painted with that same blue and he acts like they are the coolest figures ever. Anyone could make those.
-
No people, don`t flame and don`t get all wrong. altough I have one of my best friends of Life into the group of persons that built those amazing custom ships I actually nothing to do with their auction. Now that I`m in vacation I just wanted notify in all forums that I can the big new , I just proud of them and considering that they don`t like enter to any star wars forums I took the liberty to advertise it and inform, apparently was not the best way indeed so sorry for that...I always looking the star wars forums and I forget the main topic for begin to post "introduce myself". Again Sorry if I offended in someway your comunity so if you want and feel more better delete the topic and problem solved and of course no hard feelings, just remember that we`re here for fun besides enough problems all we have in the real life
Sincerely
PML33

I don't know how much I like the Nemoidian, but that metallic blue paint looks pretty cool on it.
The Falcon looks spectacular! Is it supposed to be the EP3 Falcon that is seen for a second on Coruscant?
:P
-
PML33 - that's fine. Stay aboard here. It just looked a little suspicious. It is by far one of of the best customs I've ever seen.
:P

Commander Cuda will be taking a little break while we discuss his post/thread deletions with him. Don't want to see the boards becoming a mess like that...
Carry on!
Now this figure is freaky looking. Very cool...

I'm sorry to see CuDa won't be around. Seemed like a misunderstanding that got blown way out of proportion...
Anyways, yes I need this figure. I have the basic parts needed -
- VOTC Stormtrooper head
- ROTS SA Clone
- AT-TE Gunner helmet piece
But how to make the hood? Sculpy? I think I might have a talk with a fellow customizer who does commissions and see about him making the hood for me.
:P
-
Why wouldn't a regular stormtrooper head work? Seems to look the same... Otherwise, yeah, sounds great.
JediSpyke
-
Yeah, stick around then, if that's the case PML33. We still probably don't want you advertising your friend's eBay auctions (by including a link), but we'd love to still discuss their excellent custom work!
So what ship will your friend be making next?

By fellow customizer I'm guessing you mean Owen? ;)
I found this clone today, that just happens to be his :) The clone itself pretty cool but I really like the mini dio it comes with, he's some sort of urban sniper.

Hi JediSpyke, and welcome!
You're right, a CT Stormtrooper head might work just fine... no reason to really destroy a wonderful VOTC Stormtrooper if not necessary. I was just thinking about the neck knob on the SA Clone, and thought the VOTC Stormtrooper helmet would fit on it better?
SLC, yes I was referring to Owen! He's the man.
That Urban Clone is cool, but I like the scene even better too. I might have him make me a few more little outposts like he did for me on my Battlefront ones.
:P
-
The VOTC stormies post is bigger than the SA Clone, or smaller I don't remebr which. ::) All I know is they don't swap too easy, it would take a bit of modification either way.
-
I really like that Speeder Bike display :D
CHEWIE - how about using a Bust-Ups Stormtrooper head? You can dremel out a little bit of the neck hole and it will fit fine over the ball-neck-joint. I haven't tried swapping a VOTC Stormie head onto a SA Clone body, but considering that the only clone heads that are easily interchangeable are the Clone Commander and the #41 SA Clone, I wouldn't expect it to be an easy switch.
-
Theres some good stuff out there.. but that person that makes the chrams really really needs to give up. :-X

thanks, Chewie... You can really tell a lot of the same folks end up making rounds in different customizing forums. I recognize several from here, Rebel Scum and FFURG. I'm sure there's lots more forums but I spend enough time going through just these 3!
As for the storm trooper... Yeah, I couldn't see carving up a $10 figure when a $5 (or cheaper if you use a POTF2 head) figure will do. Granted, you'll have to do more work to get that ball to fit in, but you can get a nice little stone ball sander for dremals...

If I didn't know better, i'd swear that looks more like the artwork of Grievous, before the shuttle accident that left him basically a brain in a jar...just with a stormtrooper mask. Awesome work regardless
-
After an invite from Chewie, I wanted to thank everyone for everything they said about Faie. Of all the clones, he was the one that impressed me the most visually.
Some of you i recognize from rebelscum, others are new. I just wanted to take the time to say "Hi" and that there's some really great stuff on these boards!
-
Hi aeseven7, great custom clone there! Glad to see that you're on JD! ;D
-
Welcome to JediDefender, aeseven7 and JediSpyke! Nice to have you guys poke in here to check things out. Hopefully you enjoy the friendly and cozy confines of JD. Feel free to give any of the staff (or regulars) a holler if you've got any questions about anything... Looking forward to admiring some of your fine custom work! 8)

-
That is a sweet clone aeseven... He looks like he'd fit in well on a cold-weather planet where he just had to improvise a bit.
Good to see you and JediSpyke make a jump over too. Peruse the other parts of the forum, you guys may find this to your liking since we try to keep things run well for our members and still keep the site more open and appealing to the "adults" in collecting as far as quality and whatnot. Enjoy.
-

I talked with them and besides they are angry with me for the froum troubles :P probably at 2 weeks more they want place the tantive IV 7 feets lenght hopfully they can, I passed today at their garage kit and it look great
-
Good to see you here aeseven and to the other new guys too!
This Clone really blows me away. I am wondering if a Ringwraith figure from the LOTR line might have the hood for a custom of this?
I'll keep the CT Stormtrooper head in mind for a custom of this too. I really can't afford to be giving up my VOTC Stormies. :-\
:P
-
You could always have DD cast you a VOTC Stormie head.....
-
A lot of people have asked about the votc stormy head not fitting well onto the clone neck post but it actually wasn't too bad of a fit.
I hated to dink up my votc trooper but the helmet sculpt is SO much better than the past figures that i couldnt see using anything else.
The coolest part about being the first to have a specific clone up for auction is seeing all the "commander faie's" that will begin popping up in the following days :P Which is funny because months have gone by and not a single Faie. I think everyones been keeping busy churning out Codys and Neyo's, heh.
-
Oh I'm sure there will be a ton of those Clones soon on ebay... it will be hard to top yours. I had been wanting to make one for the past month, but don't know how to make the hood.
:P
-
What did Grievous look like before then ? Was his wreck in the shuttle a comic book thing ? And is there any pics of him before the wreck ?
sorry to get off pace a bit ???
-
I wish I could find a picture of what he looked like... I can envision it in my head kind of, but it's hard to describe... does anyone have a pic from the Art of Revenge of the Sith? I think they show it in there.
I seem to remember that his species is a slender, almost skeletal looking kind of alien. Almost like the Mustafar Sentry, but meaner looking, and I think I remember seeing bandage like wrappings on his arms?
:P

Really like this one...

Yep, I actually spoke with him about this set... I think he's going to relist it - Kahsyyyk was spelled Kashyyk.
So many figures, such a cool scene... with blood, sweat and devotion put into it. I'm sad to see he's selling it.
:P
-
Hey all, CHEWIE thanks for the plug on my dio there. I hate to sell it too, but space and money and a shift in collecting for me has pushed me towards selling it. I hope it will sell for a decent amount on the Bay, I am not trying to rape anyone for it, but I put in about a month and a halfs work on it before it was populated with figures. I also cancelled the listing and relisted with a correct spelled Kashyyyk in the title. I am encouraging pick up of the item in the auction, and I am throwing in the table for it if someone picks it up. If you guys know of anyone who would want a BIG Wookiee and Clone diorama, send them my way!
-
Fly, no problem posting it - it's a work of art... I just wish you weren't parting with it. I'm sure it will end up in a very loving home!
:P

Hey that's a Glassman clone! I didn't know he was selling those.

He had been saying he was considering it.

Maybe I should sell some of mine. I wonder how much Lumiya would go for?

Yeah, he's changing his mind about selling customs and parts. It all started with his awesome helmets.

Paul,
My guess is not that much. Your custom is great, but there seems to be a very fickle market in terms of what people are willing to buy/ not buy. The primary demand is for current hot items (Clones & Clone Wars). I don't think you'll find many bidders for a little known Marvel character. But who knows, I could be wrong.
-
As AE77 pointed out to me, Uniqueness is what sells for the big $ on e-bay.
The first of a kind sells for alot and the rest gradually less.
There are a limited number of folks willing to pay huge amounts for a 3 3/4" toy.
So if you get to them first... CHA- CHING!
Which is why the grenader is doing so well... It's unique.
-
Your right, most people don't know who Lumiya is so it would probably go for very little. My black hole clone trooper with jet pack would probably sell much higher even though its a simplier custom to make.
-
That would be savy move.
-
Besides, its a hard thing to sell one of your customs. It's kind of like selling one of your kids (even though there are days that you would pay someone to take them. ;)) Here are some of the questions I keep asking myself.
Which one do I sell? How much? Will I miss the figure when its gone? Is it good enough to make a decent amount of money? Will it make any money? Maybe I can make a bettter version? Do I really need the money? Is it worth it?
-
I know what you mean... I've sold just one custom on ebay, and it didn't go for much. But thankfully I know it went to a good home.
I've had offers on some of my Clones and Wookiees though for quite a bit. Still, it's a tough decision.
:P
-
In the past I had never understood selling your items on ebay, but recently I've had a change of heart. For me, I enjoy the act of creating custom figures and dioramas. But I don't necessarily have the space or funds for the volume I like to produce. Nor am I so attached to them, I can't give them up -- they are, after all, things. My solution is to make some specifically for ebay. So long as they sell for more than the cost of my materials, I'm in a win-win situation since I've been able to create extra without costing me anything. Any extra I make goes into projects I'm keeping for myself (such as the Felucia diorama). I'm not looking to make any sort of profit, but rather to find a way I can continue my hobby of customizing without creating a strain on my finances. In fact, if I was trying to operate this as a business, I'd be losing money based on labor costs :).
-
But I don't necessarily have the space or funds for the volume I like to produce.
This is what happened to me. I sat down one day and had over 200 custom figures! I picked my favorite 100 and sold the rest on eBay (starting at $3 each). Some - mainly Jedi and Pilot Customs - went for a good price (able to recoup what it cost to make the figure), but the majority went for $3-5 each - no get rich quick sceme, but that's fine. I was able to get rid of them to someone who may enjoy them instead of me just trashing them and recycling the parts into more customs.
I used the cash for fodder and RotS figures so it was the best of both worlds - I made some room on my shelf by selling a lot of my early customs (which were a lot crappier - simple head swaps and what not) and got some cash so that I would keep working on better, more advanced customs for me.
Jeff
-
Do you guys get unsolicied offers to buy your figures? I've gotten a few recently. The problem is trying to collect the money. They offer huge amount of money for customs but never seem to have the money 'right away'. Why do people offer and then flake? I mean, if you don't have the money or have to wait until 'pay day' to send a check maybe you shouldn't be buying them.
-
I have gotten several offers for figures, usually I just offer to give them help as they make their own. I think that everybody has made some good points about selling custom figures, but for me I would feel very weird selling a custom figure to somebody. I can't exactly pinpoint it, but it's kind of a combination of the "my baby" theory ;) as well as the custom being sufficiently good for me, but not for somebody else. I like my customs and put a lot of work into them, however by just looking at the end result, I'm not sure that I could live up to the high standards of manufactured figures (in terms of construction/paint chipping/etc).
-

Paul,
I have never had someone follow through on an unsolicited offer. Therefore I never count on a purchase from those.
-
I cant part with mine. The one i sold for commision, i made a duplicate instead of selling mine. Same for my e-bay fox. That was a dup that turned out better than my original, but i parted with it.
The one i'm selling now, i will make a dup for myself.
Its nice that people want your customs, but I want them more.
I get offers all the time, but I still want them...even my terrible ones.
-
I'm curious -- do you view your custom figures as art? How about the others who find it hard to sell your customs. I'm just curious if that plays into this as well.
-
Well, I don't really consider myself much of an artist. I just consider my stuff to be horrible attempts at background and fan fic stuff.
:P
-
I'm curious -- do you view your custom figures as art? How about the others who find it hard to sell your customs. I'm just curious if that plays into this as well.
I wouldn't say my customs are "art", in a way that means that I take them too seriously. For me, customs are a piece of "art" in as much as somebody that builds birdhouses as a hobby or somebody that knits sweaters would view their work as a piece of "art." It's really just a hobby to me.
-
For me its a hobby and not art. I think of myself as a model maker and not an artist. Kind of like those guys that worked on the original star wars along time ago but no were as good. To me, it's a way to have a cool figure without waiting for the commerical version.
It does however make me feel a little uneasy about people that treat this hobby as a business <cough>mrtanner<cough>. That kind of stuff reminds me of the cheap knockoff pictures you see on street corners being sold out of a van. I think it lowers peoples perception of this hobby.
-
I think of mine as art. But more so i think of them as part of my collection.
My collection is unique becasue of my customs, not cause i spend rediculous amounts of time and money hunting down little pieces of plastic. (alot of us do) But MY customs are hard to come by...were up until last month.
So that is why i dont want to part with them.
If i do, then i wont have that figure, that I wanted to make, in my collection.
But i see my art as, not the van on the side of the road, but, priceless pieces after i die peniless or chop off my ear!
-
I've sold about 10 customs on commission, I don't know if that counts as an unsolicited offer. I never asked a lot of money for them. Mostly just the money I payed for the parts + shipping.
About that bussiness thing, I think you're right. There are people who make customs, JUST to be able to sell them. They come on custom boards, post their (awesome) work, and every body wants a piece of the action. Then you don't see those guys online for like months. And suddenly they are back, with more "goods" to sell...
-
Yep, there's a certain member over at 'scum that does that. Then, to top it off he made some very rude comments to some people that do customize for all the right reasons. >:(
:P
-
I wonder who that could be? ;)
The person you speak of is definately the Thomas Kinkade of the customizing world.
-
that do customize for all the right reasons. :P
hmmm.... there's morality to customizing? Sorry. I couldn't resist. ;D
-
that do customize for all the right reasons. :P
hmmm.... there's morality to customizing? Sorry. I couldn't resist. ;D
Nah, just etiquette, manners, and decency.
-
It's definately art for me. While i sell most of my customs, i do hold onto a few of them that i wouldnt sell for any amount of money. For me, i get a much bigger kick from knowing that someone around the world has something I MADE in their collection and enjoys it more than i ever would (having it sit on a shelf, unseen, and probably dusty.)
I suppose in a way its also a hobby though, i don't support myself off customs so itd definately only be a "hobby" to me. But anyone who makes a custom figure and im not talking a parts swap or a repaint, the second you start sculpting or doing extensive work on a figure, it becomes art, for better or worse, lol.
-
Dressel Rebel, thanks for summing that up for me. You did in one sentence what might have taken me a paragraph or two. ;)
I hope nobody took what I said the wrong way - I see nothing wrong with selling customs on ebay at all. In fact, I think it's very cool.
There is one person (who I haven't seen post here) that rubbed me the wrong way not too long ago with his comments at the other site. He doesn't post there very often, but when he does it's only to promote his customs before putting them on ebay - still I am ok with that. It was some recent comments that he and another made being extremely rude to myself and a couple other customizers.
I'm not really *mad* about it, it just shows how immature some people can be.
BTW, everyone here is awesome. Not just at customizing either, but your personality and respect for each other.
:P
-
and enjoys it more than i ever would (having it sit on a shelf, unseen, and probably dusty.)
Exactly why I decided to start selling some :).
And Chewie, what else is RS for if not to pimp out work... it's not like anyone ever gives constructive criticism on customs there. It's mainly... that's kewl :)
:-P
-

Oh great, Phruby...now we're going to have to fight with the guy again! ;)
I have trouble selling customs I make, as I kind of form an attachment to each one I do, and it's hard to part with them. Well, except for clones. I can make clones all day and then part with most of them, because I'm not as invested in them since to me, they're just a repaint.
I am fond of my ARC troopers. though. :P
-DD
-
Hmmm... I was talking about someone totally different. Guess there's more than a few people out there that we don't necessary agree with. But, for every *bad* seed, there's dozens of good people in the customizing community. :)
:P
-
I second that.
Back to ebay customs. Here is one that you don't see everyday. Well maybe you do because the guy made three different versions. War is hell.

Poor bastards. ;)
I actually like these three a lot...gory but good.

Wow, those are really cool to look at. I need to employ some better customs like that for dead Clones in my photonovels.
:P

I don't know if this is the right place to post it, but I just received a PM trough Ebay fro ma few fellow sellers. They warned me for this guy ani2luke85. This guy has been bidding on all kinds of custom auctions and getting very high prices. But he never pays. He seems to have more then one alias. Others are 501stclone and Vadertater92. So watch out for this punk! He has really bad feedback as well. I blocked him from my auctions.

Thanks for the heads up on that low life.

-
I saw that one too... damn that's hot!
Wonder how they made that?
:P
-
A lot of sculpting I guess. Looking at the pose the dangergirl is still in, I think he took the original fig as base and went nuts on it with sculpting materials and paints :)
-
I like her 8)
Do you think he used an Epic Force Stormtrooper for the armor? The sculpting is really good - either he's really talented (which is probably the case) or he stole the armor from an existing figure...
-
If you look at the armor legs, you can see they are nothing more than strips of sculpty on the leg itself. It's an illusion that there is actually armor there. It doesn't look that hard to duplicate.
-
Wow, that Jedi Temple scene is very nice, but the BIN is $700 for it, and the figures are not included.
-
I'm pretty happy to see that Jedi Temple auction actually. It gives me a template idea for making my own.
:P
-
I was working on one of those Fe-male stormtroopers..but to 3 3/4 scale.
I got the idea while working on the Betty Droid.
That one is nice though.
-
All right...Daddy likes this one A LOT.

Yes, well worth the money if you can afford it!
Ricky UK now seems to be selling a lot of stuff on ebay. This Mawhonic is cool, but I don't have the desire to overpay for something like this now that it's relatively easy to get parts from Ask Aak to make your own -
(http://hometown.aol.co.uk/Jaza88/honic.JPG)
Still, this is one damn fine custom!
:P
-
That Clone commando helmet custom is incredible!
Are you guys sure it's RickyUK selling that stuff? He sent me a PM warning me about a guy who bought his stuff just to make molds to mass produce and resell his stuff and asking me both if he offered to buy anything of his off of me and asking me not to buy off of that guy. I think he may sell on e-bay, so maybe we should check with Ricky before any of you bid or just to make sure it's really Ricky selling that stuff.
-
Well, I think it's Ricky selling the stuff... whoever it is, is selling only things I've seen on his site. And it's in the UK... also, the descriptions look like Ricky would have written them. I could be wrong, but I think it's probably Ricky.
:P
-
Oh crap. I already bid on the CZ-3. Well, we will see what happens. Besides, is it wrong to buy a custom figure and make castings of it to sell? Since you bought it, it is your property. I guess this goes under bootlegging.
-
I think that I would be pretty pissed if somebody did that (made casts of a figure that I had made). Of course, I don't really sculpt original pieces or anything like that, so I don't have anything to be worried about, however, if I had put a lot of time into sculpting something and I sold it to a guy who, in turn, made molds of it and "mass produced" it, I don't think I would be too happy.
-
you know what? I'll check with him to see if it is or isn't him. Sounds good?
-
Yeah, its Rickyuk selling the stuff on eBay.
-
Did you ask him? I've retracted my bid on cz-3. It kind of bothers me the person is using an account with only two feedbacks and not one seller post.
-
I sent him an email through eBay and he replied back knowing my name-name so i reckoned it was him. lol
-
Anything aeseven7 posts on Ebay is a winner!!!

aeseven7, I like your new Clone Intel:

Sithfire30,
Haha, thanks man. I've just been fortunate enough to string together a few good customs :)
gregorbian,
thanks, i had been wanting to do one for a while. . .well ever since the Art of came out, lol, and finally got around to finishing it. Overall, i like how it turned out but a good camera helps!
thanks for the comments!

I like this one.

-
That Asajj is pretty cool. I may have to try that, a Luminara body, Aurra Sing head, and whatever those sash things are made out of, it's a good looking combo.
-
That one is tykrazen's over at the ffurg custom forum.
-
I think that Ty Krazen's Ventress could be duplicated now that he has shown what can be done. Very inventive figure. I don't know how easy it would be to make that cardback though.
The Clone is great. I was looking at that on ebay last night with a friend. Now he's wanting me to make him one, but I doubt I could make the top of the helmet to look even half that good.
:P
-
;D I feel honored to have made the thread...
As Chewie pointed out, this isn't too difficult a figure to make if you have a dremmel. The worst part is the cost of the CW Asajj Ventress figure for parts.
I should point out you need to shorten luminara's neck to make the head look right.
Parts list for the figure is:
Aurra Sing - modded head
Luminara - modded body, skirt, legs and arms (minus gloves)
Asajj Ventress - gloves, plastic skirt (heavily cut), lightsabers, cape
I originally was doing this figure just for ebay, but I've fallen in love with it so much that I'll make another for myself (assuming this one sells). I am planning on changing the plastic skirt to the Jedi vs. Sith Asajj skirt (with similar mods) so that it has the cross-hatching pattern.
And as for the cardback, I'm glad to share it if anyone wants it and plan to pass the template onto FFURG once the auction is over.
-
Very cool Asajj . that is prob one of the coolest figures in the series I think. She was awesome in the cartoon ... ;D
-
i like everything on the asajj but the head. looks weird for sum reason. :-\
-
Here is one of the worst codys I've ever seen. It looks like the work of 'you know who'.
toyhutts cody (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Toyhutt-UGLY-Star-Wars-ROTS-Clone-Commander-Cody-Figure_W0QQitemZ5990500281QQcategoryZ83719QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

The person that bought this figure and is selling it has a web site dedicated to this craptastic figure. Its pretty funny to read.
ToyHutt's "Models" (http://jeffooi.tripod.com/)
-
Yikes! I'm usually not one to be critical, but that Cody actually turns my stomach.
:P
-
It is godawful isnt it. ;D Im really thinking about bidding on this. I cant explain why. ???
-
Probably for the same reason the new owner bought it. He even created a web site to show off how awful it is.
-
whoa My first custom i ever made looked better then that .... er i hope lol.
Whats he holding a cookie jar ?
-
That's so funny. I like that he made a website for it :D
...hope that never happens to me :-\
-
In case anyone is wondering I bid on this monstrosity. ;D Ive just gotta have it.
-
I wonder if a little kid made that? ??? It looks like something I would have done when I was 9 or 10.
-
I just hope that the original creator of this figure is pretty light hearted considering how much looking at this figure turns my stomach!
:P

He looks pretty good, I really like the softgoods/metal straps. They are my favorite part of the figure. I think the blue needs to be dinged up a bit as well as dulled becasue it is a tad shiney. Those straps make it quite unique looking, I wonder how they are made?
-
Dunno how he made the straps but I almost like the shine in the blue. It makes me think of robocop for some reason lol.
-
I agree that those straps are the best part. Aside from the straps it's a decent custom, but those straps put it over the top.
I don't really like the decision to use a metallic blue on the figure, I'm sure it's good for "selling" it though :P
-
That is a cool Clone Cuda. Im kinda "Cloned out" but this one is definitely worth looking at and maybe even bidding on.
:P
-
I like the fact that the blue turns to green in certain light. I'm not much on the clone though. Nothing new besides the paint used.
-
I agree Chewie . Im kinda cloned out my self but I was looking at prices on ebay at every figure trying to come up with a good price to sell my entire collection or half of it and have no clue what its worth. :P
I like the straps on that clone though and the blue. My opinion is that if there where that many clones there had to be alot of variations. So I think letting people make new paint jobs like that (new to me) is pretty cool.
-
Check out this crap.
-
I kinda like that. I think he should have painted the belt and the eyes black, but it is a farily well done custom. I don't think it should go for too much though.
-
This clone kinda cool also:

That looks like another of aeseven7's beautiful clones. I love all the little gadgets he has. The paint loks great and I like the working holsters. I am sick of clone repaints and all the commanders that everyone makes, but I still love all these original clone customs, it is really cool to see what some people come up with. :)
-
That is kind of neat. A little over done though. He looks junky to me.
-
Anyone familiar with modern day HALO jumpers would recognize the fact that they have a LOT of gear and that was the look i was going for.
Not sure what u mean by "junky" phurby, but everyone else i showed seemed to get the jist of it.
-
I don't think he meant "junky" to mean that it was crappy (because it's not), I think he meant that he has a lot of accessories that we usually don't see on Clones. But I love this custom, it's fantastic. Very creative too! I might suggest darkening his skin a bit, but as it is, it's still wonderful.
Here's one that someone here has on ebay currently. Most of you will probably recognize it... I really think this is a cool, unique custom -
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5992620177&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT
:P
-
Cuda, when you say 2 availible do you mean you made 2 clones and 2 ships?
-
Junkey as in lots of accessories. Not crappy as in bad. It's very good custom. It's well painted and there is alot of detail.
Besides, I've never seen a halo jumper. I have no idea what one is. From that point of view, he looks like a clone with lots of stuff on him.
-
Cuda, when you say 2 availible do you mean you made 2 clones and 2 ships?
If you mean the slave i and black clone its just 1 clone and 1 ship yeh ;D
Hope this helps
-
It just seems like commenting on a clone that you don't fully "understand" is a bit silly. Its not a useful suggestion, its a "high and mighty" opinion which i dont find useful at all.

High Altittude Low Orbit. We have halo jumpers in our military and they have lots of gear because they need all their oxygen equipment as well as a pressurized suit. Of course there is the need for a parachute or in this case repulsor lift, or whatever it is they use. And they also have to have any mission critical ordanance and weapons, because they are being dropped behind enemy lines and can't be resupplied.

Let's try not to argue guys. I'm sure phruby meant no offense, he was just commenting on the amount of stuff the guy has on him. It is generally better to hold back that kind of suggestion when you don't know what something is, but again I really don't think he was trying to be all high and mighty.
Let's just play nice ok? :)
-
Cool Clone I agree with Master Furby . Great work ! ;D
-
It's a great custom, I don't think anyone has said that it isn't. Phruby is entitled to his opinion, and I don't see anything wrong with what he said.
But I agree, let's not get mad at each other over anything. A little criticism is welcome here in my book as long as it's constructive. We aren't like that other site and just say "Nice!" or "Kewl!" like so many others do. Those are the kind of compliments that are essentially post-padding. We try and be constructive, help each other out, give our honest opinions, etc.
:P
-
Calm down aeseven7. I mean you no harm. :-\
Besides, unless you have an offical referance picture of a halo jumper clone, it must have come completely from your imagination. How would I know what your imagination would produce in the way of a halo jumper.
If I were to make this figure, it would have been very different. For example, I would have put the tubes and extra accessories inside some kind of compact device. I figure if they are far enough in the future, they would have come up with a way to make things more streamlined and to give the jumper better control over drag. That doesn't mean my idea is any better than yours. It's just different.
Take some drugs, calm down.
-
I figure if they are far enough in the future
Star Wars takes place in the distant past (not ours, mind you), remember, A Long Time Ago.... so you can't play that card. :D
-
Two and a half pages of remarks about the same drama ... come on guys let it go already. . . .
Lets play nice lol ;D
-
Cool custom, when I read "Halo" I thought of the video game ;) I like all of the gear, but I know what Phruby is talking about - clones seem to be pretty streamlined (usually). Still, I think it's a great custom - well done as always aeseven7! ;D
CuDa - I don't understand the "2" items in your auction. You're selling the Black Clone Pilot separately from the Slave I, but they're in the same auction? I'm so confused... :-\
-
I updated the auction its 1 clone and 1 ship. Sorry but I use firefox the web browser and it made me put somthing in there for some reason. Im kinda shocked a few of you guys seen it. ;D
-
Here's a better cool galatic heros custom. It reminds me of my GH ARC Trooper.

Woah, those are pretty sweet. I really like the paint app of the Gree. It is better than some 4" customs I've seen.
-
That is so very cool. One of the coolest non-3-3/4" scales customs I've ever seen.
:P
-
Those are awesome . I like the wookie even ... and yeh that gree is really cool
-
I like the Clone Jumper; I think he's keen looking. Excellent paint app, and very true to our own HALO jumpers. (Ripcord, anyone? Anyone?) But if I didn't know what aeseven was going for, I can see how he would look kind of like he was a scavenger or something, with all the extra gear. So I'm Switzerland in this one.
I'm digging this custom on EBAY right now, by my very own friend Jesse:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5993416722
Let's see Hasbro beat that...
-DD
-
Wow, red5 really made one hell of a Wookiee! That's very nice. I bet we'll see something kind of similar to this in the new SideShow line.
:P
-
Hey DD could you ask where your friend Jesse picked up the TRU Holo Emperor at? Was it at a TRU or what?
-
They are TRU exclusives but I wasn't aware they are out yet...
-
Red5sixx has a ton of connections with the big "H" so he gets a limited number of stuff way before release. For example, there's some exclusive goodies he has that shouldn't be out until Nov. 1st. Keep checking his store.
-DD
-
I love that wookie is that a custom then ? Thats nuts ! Its awesome.
I wanna see or make a dio of a Bounty hunter planet colony . Like in the comics . Whats the best bounty hunter figure and the cheapest lol .
-
Bounty Hunter colony? Any pics of the comic you are referring to?
:P
-
I can scan the comic some time this week it might take a bit of time . I have thousands of comics. Ths comic came out just after the 2nd movie did. Its about Janga and his family . They all live on a planet thats some what old west but are raised and live as bounty hunters. Its a cool comic it was a 3 part series if i find them I will scan every page so you can read it .
-
12" Quinlan Vos (http://cgi.ebay.com/12-Custom-Star-Wars-Jedi-Quinlan-Vos-RARE-figure_W0QQitemZ5994136404QQcategoryZ101609QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
This is pretty nice.
-
I thought that one was being sent to Jan D. ???
-
I thought that one was being sent to Jan D. ???
i was under the same impression myself ??? perhaps they made 2 ???
-
I thought that one was being sent to Jan D. ???
Nah... The guy posted it on RS.com... He said he spent to much money on the parts. If Jan want one, she has to commision it... The only thing she "gets" is a mail with he pics. Lame, I know. This guy is just in it for the cash...
-
I missed somthing spent to much money on what ?
-
I missed somthing spent to much money on what ?
Spent too much money on the parts that were used to make the Quinlan Vos.
-
I'm of the mind that it was never really intended for Jan, that was just the cover story for RS. Besides, if he really wanted to recoup something from Jan for his efforts, he couldn've traded it for some of her art. She does beautiful commission work.
I'm not knocking his work...he does amazing stuff and should be compensated well when he sells it...but I think it's more the $$$ that he's interested in than the love of customizing. I have trouble parting with simple stuff I do, much less complicated pieces like he does. Just an opinion.
-DD
-
I wouldn't pay 260 dollars for any sort of Doll, or Action Figure, ever. Period. It's a wonderful figure, far beyond my skill, but god dang.

The "Bounty hunter colony" he's referring to is the Mandalorians, And the comic, which is called "Jango fett: Open seasons" is a 4-part comic. It's a great read, even if you don't like mandalorians.

That's an interesting Vos. I'm also digging on this 12' concept Fett.
-DD
-
The Vos is nice, but that Fett is completely awesome. I don't collect 12", but I'd buy that.
:P
-
I'd buy that for dollar.
Sorry, too much Robocop last night.
-
I've had some tough unexpected expenses hit me all of a sudden...
- new tires - $186.00
- other car repairs - $293.21
- furnace at home - $231.44
Plus I am going on a bachelor party next week to Memphis. I had saved $300.00 for it. Now all that money is gone, and I am pretty much broke. Plus I had to just pay for a tux rental, which was $90.00.
All that together, and I just had $800.00 in expenses... huge hit on my money situation.
So, I need money quick. I will be posting probably quite a few items on ebay very soon. I would rather post them here or in a classifieds section, but I need to sell stuff quick and get paid quickly, and have a few carded/boxed items along with a few customs that I might put on there.
I'm not posting this to get people to here to try and bid on my stuff, I just don't want someone to come across anything I'm selling and be like "why are you selling that on ebay CHEWIE?"
:P
-
Damn CHEWIE, that sucks! I hope you get some decent $$$ for your eBay stuff.
I'm sure we'll see your customs appear in this thread anyway ;)
Good luck dude!
-
Hey put up a link to your auctions so we can bid if we see something we like! :D
-
Chewie,
I agree with bjarrdkerr, post the links so we can help you out. (and net some cool Chewie customs besides!) ;)
-DD
-
Well, that's nice of you guys. I feel kind of awkard advertising any of my auctions though... if it were a simple matter of me having money and time to burn, I'd love to make some customs for you guys at cost. But, unfortunately that's not how my situation is. ;)
Tell you what, maybe I'll post a link to one auction, that way you could view the other auctions if you choose. I probably won't posting a plethora of customs though, just a few to help me get by with these added expenses.
I do have a few other things that I might throw on there too. And of course I need to dedicate a figure for the Disaster Relief. I'm thinking maybe the Darktrooper I made a while back. I would take better pics of him first though.
:P
-
Sounds good to me!
-

Just a friendly reminder that we don't usually allow linking to your own eBay auctions (regardless of the circumstances), but you can post your eBay ID though and if people want to check it out on their own, they are more than welcome to do it...
Sorry to be the bad guy, but rules are rules. :-\
-
I totally understand that Jeff, that's why I was hesitant to do that. ;)
:P
-
This is one of the coolest yet creepiest customs I've seen in a long time... This woman makes custom dolls (my girlfriend has a little baby demon) and they are extremely cool... and this one is no exception.
Check it out here (http://cgi.ebay.com/OOAK-horror-doll-Krypt-Kiddies-Darth-Maul-gothic-goth_W0QQitemZ5618577075QQcategoryZ48920QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
If I had the money (it's currently at $460 :o ) I'd buy it in a heartbeat... there are more pics at the auction, check them out.
-
Yikes, that's pretty evil looking. Usually, I think that creations like this are a bit weird and am not a fan of them, but this one is definitely an exception.
:P
-
That is freaky looking! :o
-
creepy indeed, but cool none the less.
-
i'd buy that, it's freaking awesome.
-
Damn, the eyes follow you around the room!!!!!!

Yeah... those are indeed mine. Due to some bad financial problems that have hit me recently, I put a few customs up there. I wasn't going to post a link to them though, since I know we're not supposed to post links to our own auctions.
:P
-
Yes, well I like them, so I posted them.

Thank you Ty. ;)

I loved them, and hope to have some Chewie Originals!!! ;D

Tijuana, even if you don't want to bid on those, I'll see what I can do later on to help you out with some CHEWIE originals. ;)

Yeah, whoever made that sure is talented. The suit looks promising, too. I wonder if he'll post pictures of it in light.
-
Now those are really sweet, but a little on the expensive side, maybe for the whole suit, I would pay $400 bucks.
-
STOP POSTING THOSE PICS OF THE COMMANDOS! It's just making me crave for them and envy the guy that owns it. >:( :P

Hilarious... very funny and creative of the seller to make that for it. :)
:P
-
That was Hilarious!! A$$ blasters 2006 had me cracking up.
But $32 for a boken figure?? Am I missing something? Is ther another auction with the other leg somewhere?
-
You could always cast a new leg. The story reminded me of something Chewie would make for us.
-
i almost want to bid because of the story.
-
Yeah, you could cast a new leg, but that much for a figure you have to work on to complete...its fodder and $35 is alot for fodder.
-
I don't really dig the 12" clones, but I had to comment on the accessories on this one.
Custom 12" Clone Heavy Weapons Trooper (http://cgi.ebay.com/Star-Wars-ROTS-Custom-12-Clone-Heavy-Weapons-Trooper_W0QQitemZ6004088021QQcategoryZ101609QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
Have any of you seen a gun like that for another figure line? Or do you think this guy did it from scratch? Amazing work if done from scratch.
B
-
No. It's Cable's gun/vehicle thing and shoulder pads. All that is really done is the scuffing up of the clone. He's showing it off on RS right now.
-
too bad he never swaps to a more posable body with a head so it would be a removable helmet on those 12" clones he keeps selling.
-
Advanced Field Scout (http://cgi.ebay.com/Star-Wars-Custom-clone-trooper-Advanced-Field-Scout_W0QQitemZ6004700135QQcategoryZ101609QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem), by ebay user nag5370.
I really like this guy's work. His soft goods always look clean and crisp, and his paintjobs are always first rate. The only strange thing is some of his customs look a lot like jubjubjedi's drawings, like the one above.
B
-
Wow, this guys work is really nice.
-
That's a pretty cool clone. I like all the copper cloth on him. Very crisp.
-
Best Fox I've seen so far. (http://cgi.ebay.com/Star-Wars-ROTS-Custom-clone-trooper-Commander-Fox-41_W0QQitemZ6004964457QQcategoryZ101609QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

That would require too much work, and give the buyer too much value for their money.
That same guy who did the advanced field scout just did a really nifty "Tron" trooper. Check it out:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Star-Wars-Custom-clone-trooper-TRON-trooper-fanmade_W0QQitemZ6006209905QQcategoryZ101609QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

-
That's a good idea. A Tron Trooper. It would be even cooler if the paint glowed in the dark.
-
That is cool... I dont see alot of love for tron these days though...
Anyone remember the atari video game for Tron? I used to love that game.
-
The ones for the Atari 2600 or the arcade game Tron?
-
Both! Loved them both.
I used to spend Hours in the arcade playing that and Donkey Kong and Dig Dug!
Yes you young folks... Donkey Kong was an arcade game before nitendo camoe out with Racing and Country and Drums!!
It had 3 screens and was the BEST!!!
-
This one is kind of cool!

-
Tron was a great arcade game, remember Discs of Tron too? i always had a hard time with the light cycles. i played a ton of Ms. Pac-man, Donkey Kong Jr., Turbo, Pooyan, Burger Time, Pole Position, Star Wars (of course), Galaga and Defender.
my all-time fave though was Joust. the prize of our house is the full size Joust machine in the living room that we own & that i hold high score of 225,000 on ;D
i guess i have always been a big nerd, oh well :P
back on topic.......that clone mountain climber is interesting, i don't know what to think of it entirely. the mountain might have been cooler with some lava oozing out for a nice Mustafar diorama addition.
-
This one is kind of cool!

It's good he includes the base, cause the figure is only an SA Clone with a Cruisemissile trooper head. Still I think it is kinda cool, he could use some sort of coloring or legion distinction though.
-
my all-time fave though was Joust. the prize of our house is the full size Joust machine in the living room that we own & that i hold high score of 225,000 on ;D
You got 225,000 on Joust?! Wow! That's impressive!
The highest I've gotten is 175,000 on my full size Kangaroo machine.
-
I've always wanted a fullsize machine, i just never had anywhere to put it.
Hey Rip, If you ever move would you hook up a car battery to it to keep the high score like George Costanza? :D
Joust was one of my favorites, I can still hear the screaching pterodactyl or whatever it was, but DK was first.
-
oooooooooh Phruby i loved Kangaroo - that is an impressive score!
Glassman, i might actually have to do that if we ever move :P
the pterodactyl is tough, but there is a little trick to defeat him known only to Joust Masters lol ;)
my hubby & i found Joust at an outdoor flea market for $50 and all that was wrong with it was some dead RAM chips and a chewed up power cord. we bought a new overlay for it since the old one had a cigarette burn in it, but other than that it seemed to have barely been played so there was no way i could resist buying it!
here are some screen shots of it & my high score, which is 218,000, and yes my real name is keri :) i thought it was 225,000 but that is still pretty good i think ;D my hubby joe managed to get 174,000 not too shabby :)

It's times like this I lament the fact that Darth Ripley is married. >:(
You're a lucky man, Joe. ;)
We have a Joust machine at my office. Some guy ordered it ages ago and never picked it up, so now we occasionally turn that baby on and have a go at the pterodactyl.
If I could own any stand-up machine, my top three would probably be Donkey Kong, Joust and Galaga, not necessarily in that order.

I have no idea what you guys are talking about... That game came 4 years before I was even born. :P
-
Playstation had a Classic Video game Disc with this on it. I have it. I 'm gonna have to break it out tomorrow( supposed to rain most of the day)
You can probably rent it and lose a weekend trying to master it.
The conntroller button isnt the same thing as "Slapping" that button to flap your Birds wings. :(
BUt it's still fun.

Ripley, $50 for Joust is not bad. I also got my Kangaroo machine for $50 at a thirty store. The machine was in mint condiition and came with the original instructions and ciricuit schematics. The thirft store though it was miss priced but let me have it anyway. Guys, it pays to hit your local thirft stores. You never know what you will find!

yeah, $50 is a really good price actually Phruby. joe and i went to a live arcade auction and people were paying over $500 for just about every machine there, and in some cases over the $1000 mark for a Defender II machine that wasn't working 100% - was giving the old rug pattern, meaning a ROM chip error. they had about 6 Galaga machines there but each went for around $700-800...i wanted one too DD. i'll just keep hitting the flea markets & thrift shops & hopefully get lucky ;D
i also would kill for a cockpit Atari Star Wars & someday when i have the room & cash i am dying for a 1992 Data East Star Wars Pinball machine. ;D
*** back on topic ***
i love the lego stuff, i wish i had more but it can get really expensive really fast. that Leia shopkeeper has a weird neck thing going on there...can't put my finger on it but it creeps me out :-[
-
And the Brits say we in the west have no history. ;)
Phruby: "I've restored this video game cabinet to the way it looked more than 20 years ago."
Ryan: "NO! Surely not! No one was alive then!"
-DD
LOL... Eddie Izzard is the man. Funniest comedian I've ever seen. I can't wait for him to tour again, I've been to his show in NYC the last four times he was here.
-
YES!! Someone picked up the reference!
I knew this was the right crowd. :P

"You're a lucky man, Joe" o.k. Who said my name and why?(wait it says the persons USERNAME right baove the post)

And no he wasn't talking about you.
I really like this 12" Solo:

I've been checking out that guy's work. It's pretty good. I'm in the process of upgrading my 12" Imperials. The TIE Pilot took about 10 minutes to do, although I still need to paint his gloves black. Figures like Imperial Commanders and Death Star Troopers are easy to do, but upgrading Clones take a bit more work (you need to resize the armor pieces).
There are quite a few of really good 12" figure customs on e-Bay right now
-
Hmm... looks to me like someone got one of RickyUK's Graga figures and decided to sell it on ebay...
http://cgi.ebay.com/Star-Wars-ROTJ-Gargan-Figure-Custom-Carded_W0QQitemZ6009316031QQcategoryZ2475QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
:P
-
Actually that is Bantha5's. But close enough. ;)
I hate it when people do that. >:(
-
Why do we automatically assume the worst of people selling on E-Bay? Maybe this person selling Bantha 5's work bought it from him, but has hit hard times and has to part with pieces of their collection to get by?
Or maybe they're a scumbag. But we don't know, do we? Why are we so quick to judge the situations and motives of people we don't know?
Damn...the collecting community is so predisposed to automatically start hating...
-DD
-
Well, I guess it just seems a tad bit wrong. But everyone may have their own circumstances which force us to do that.
But if I sold someone a custom, and saw it on ebay a little later, I might be a little curious - is this person trying to make money off of me?
That's not to say that the seller is a bad person or anything. It's just raises one's eyebrows.
:P
-
Right...but we should probably find out from Bantha 5 what the story is.
Although really...if someone commissions me to do a piece, I sell it for say, $25, and then they turn around and sell it for $40...do I have a right to be upset? After all, I was paid my asking price.
Maybe I just decide not to sell to that person anymore, and sell the stuff for $40 myself. Or at least, charge more for my work in the future. (Not that anyone's knocking the door down for any of my work, but still...) ;)
I agree that it seems wrong. I wouldn't do it myself because it SEEMS sleazy in my mind, but is that just because I'm a customizer myself?
I'm interested in Bantha5 weighing in on this...
-DD
-
I don't think anybody who does commissions expects the buyer to turn around and sell it for a profit. There is no manufacturer/retailer/consumer relationship here, and commissioning a custom usually costs less than it would to compete with other buyers on ebay.
I'd be ticked if somebody did that to me, especially with the exceptional time required and resulting quality pieces you guys and guys like Bantha5 turn out. I'd probably decide not to make and sell anything to that person anymore, but that's just me.
There may be some unknown factors: Maybe the seller fell on extremely difficult financial times. If I lost my job, etc., my action figures would be the first thing to go after a few more extraneous things were liquidated.
B
-
Two words: Free. Market.
If the initial seller fails to sell at fair market value, he or she cannot be heard to complain that the buyer later did sell for FMV. If it upsets the initial seller, he needs to charge more $$$ next time (and of course he's free to no longer sell to anyone who has offended him).
-
Wow. Thanks for the econ lesson. ;)
-
I know this topic isn't for promoting your OWN ebay-auctions, but I made a NON-star Wars custom that I wanted to show you guys. And since it's not worth a topic, I decided to post it here and get the topic to rivive a bit. I hope that's ok...
I made a Dr. Zaius from POTA, Simpsons style:
eBay link removed. Sorry, linking to your own auctions is not allowed... :(
(http://i16.ebayimg.com/02/i/05/5f/20/88_1.JPG)
-
Help me Dr. Zaius!
That's very cool kit. Is that originally a Homer?
What's wrong with me.
I think your crazy.
I want a second opinion.
Your also lazy!
-
That's very cool kit. Is that originally a Homer?
Nope, a Super intendent Chalmers, thanx Phruby!
-
I know this topic isn't for promoting your OWN ebay-auctions,
You're right - no linking to your own auctions is allowed. :(
I'd hate for this thread to have to close because the content moved towards "auctions are being promoted" instead of "customs being appreciated".
Just remember, it's OK to talk about cool customs you see on eBay, but there isn't always a need to post the link in here. People are smart and can usually find the actual auction on their own by a quick search.
[/end reminder]
Thanks,
Jeff
-
Bantha5's vintage Gargan went for $137.04! I'm sure he didn't sell it at that price originally.
-
That's a lot of money for that figure... wow.
Here's a current one that is just awesome.

Sweet! I *never* felt like the Imperial Troop Transport was much of a vehicle, but for some reason it fits with the Clone Wars look. I really like the look of this thing.
-
That transport is totally awesome!!!! I wish I had one...
-
to quote a line from Neo in The Matrix "whoa."
-
It does fit in to the clone wars very well. That's a vehicle I would like to see hasbro rerelease. It would be great to have updated eletronics and voices.
-
Commander Faie or something (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6020788117&fromMakeTrack=true).
I like this one, but something about its shape from nose to rebreather just seems......I dunno......vaginal? Like what an OB/Gyn sees in the delivery room......or maybe it's just my dirty little mind.
Still, it is a good sculpt.
-
That's it! No more porn for you!

Oh my God, a Vagina Trooper!

Bah, sorry guys. My wife's a labor/delivery and post-partum RN, and it's all I hear about....vagina-talk. :-[ :P

That's cool someone made a Commander Keller from the comic. Im debating on whether I should do a Fox or Keller with my cast I have.

Too bad the face is so butt ugly.

I think starkid's saying in his own special way: The person that makes Fox, topless Leia, etc., "nag5370," has female girl parts and not male boy parts.
How we were supposed to deduce that from her ebay id, i haven't a clue.

It's good to know that starkid has the basics down.

Indeed it is.
Tomorrow's lesson: Don't play with it or it'll fall off

Her Commander Fox auctions never divulged that info. Oh well, it's old news now.

Most impressive.
I've seen various 12 inch scale X-Wing's before on eBay but this one is definately the most impressive so far.
I can see the high price (must have been a ton of work), but where on EARTH would you find room for it!?!
*Most impressive thing I've seen is still the huge diorama of the Imperial Shuttlecraft docking in the Death Star from Celebration III. I just couldn't believe how large it was in person!*

Very cool. It almost doesn't look real. I wonder what kind of person would build such a thing.

Exactly, the helmet is in series need of being redone. It looks nothing like the helmet. However the body is well done. If I bought this I'd put my glassman helmet on him and crush that helmet with my car tire.

Holy Ring Wraith! This is one Awesome Darth Plagueis! there are about 15 more pictures in the auction!
Ya know he seems a bit...zombie like to me. Are these purely fictional renderings, or is there some factual stuff that goes behind rendering him in this way? CHEWIE did an awesome DP, and at least he had flesh. ;D
Was DP alive or dead when he was alive? ???

Yah, Kryart makes some dam good 12" figures.
-
Thanks gents. Yes this is my DP. Its total concept with this guy. I let my imagination run wild with him. I figured since he had such great control of the force he should be almost dead looking. As did Sidious when he gained the control of the empire.
-
I love the look. Your figures are always outstanding, but this one is scary as hell.
:P
-
I should have called him Nightmare Plagueis... :P

Very nice concept man, you've got a great imagination. the robes are really well done.

What a great idea. Too bad its a tape player. A cd player with a gang plank would be even better.

That is Awsome!
The fact that it's a tape player is what makes it so cool. It's like a piece of Retro Pop Art. That Belongs In some sort of 80's Art Gallery.

Actually I watched the movie to check up on this, and the grey troopers are in the back round!

Even though I'm a bit of a clone-a-holic, this Clone Custom really stood out to me. I thought the paint was well done and the overall design was pretty seamless.
-
I agree with that aeseven... Lots of quality effort on that figure. I see the Navy SEAL roots there with some of the parts, but there's unique elements that make sense for aquatic Clones like the head lamp, the bulk... Short of a little propulsion accessory (a Sea-Do type thing, SW style) it's pretty unique. The pistol's even cool as it looks special for that trooper.
And of course our current one from TRIER we have for the giveaway here at JediDefender.com is equally well thought-out I believe. Some quality aquatic Clones out there for something not even seen in the films! :)
-
JesseJames
Do you have a link to TRIER's Aquatic Clone? I'd love to see it:)
edit: I've seen that "custom giveaways" thread a million times and for whatever reason never looked at it, lol. That Aquatic Clone is definately cool and whoever gets it is pretty lucky!
Those two customs really make me want to make one of my own!
-
I don't know about this one. To me it looks like the customizer when overboard on the navy seal aspect of the figure. It looks like it would fit in better with a SOCOM or gi joe collection than star wars. Personally, I think Tr1er's aquatrooper is far superior.
-
this ones pretty cool. Mara's like my Fav EU charector.

Is that suppost to be Mara Jade? If so, what makes the statue Mara Jade? It could be just a red head in a white dress.
-
Well, its supposed to be Mara in her wedding dress when she marries Luke. Union I think was the Comic name.
-
I wonder what the original base figure looked like.
-
If i'm not mistaken, it's the Wanda Simmons figure from McFarlane. thats a Medievil WithBlade figure head.
-
So, its just a head swap and skin repaint?
-
I like it... but it doesn't scream "Star Wars" to me a whole lot. Still a nice custom though. Maybe set R2D2 next to her or something and it's easier to recognize it as Mara.
The Aqua Clone looks very life-like. I really don't like underwater Star Wars designs too much, but I must admit that's awesome. That little guide light on the side of the helmet is outstanding.
:P
-
So, its just a head swap and skin repaint?
Yeah I think so, I remember seeing the wanda figure in the store and that looks like the same dress. I agree with CHEWIE, if you dont know what the story is; than you wouldnt know it was mara.
Yeah that underwater clone is pretty impressive

Although I'm an opener, I have to admit that I like this one.

I think that the wedding dress representation is just on the cover of the comic, if I recall. The actual sequential artwork shows them being married in different colored Jedi robes. :/

The head is really good but it looks like he cheaped out on the construction of the body and arms. The arms look like they are made out of toilet paper rolls.

I think that the Lama Su is awesome... I can't criticize something like it, I think it's just outstanding and very life-like.
:)
-
Yeah Phruby thats the one. I kinda like it. Not exactly military camo but....... ;D
-
I like the fact it lights up via remote control.
-
That gunship is kinda kool, but they should have changed the factory paint applications too.
-
This is just funny.

And a different seller has made a ton of nice 12" Clones. Here's his auction for Cody (http://cgi.ebay.com/STAR-WARS-EP3-1-6-12-COMMANDER-CODY-CUSTOM-MARMIT_W0QQitemZ6050657318QQcategoryZ93842QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) but look at the other pics in the auction for Gree, Bly, Shocktrooper, Boba Fett and more. Great looking stuff.

I was just looking at those. They are really amazing!

That is the funniest thing I've ever seen.

They aren't the greatest figures inside, but I think that this looks pretty cool on a card.
-
Yup. Very nice looking card.
-
That is nice. Im not a MIP collector but this is one I'd put on my wall. Something like this in the store ( with better figs of course) would make a killing.
-
That is very sweet, especially for an Anakin/Vader collector
-
Ran across this one today:
-
that's actually not that bad. could use a Fritz or Chewie make over, but all in all not a bad idea.
-
My only problem is the front--it's inaccurate!
:P
-
You don't like the X-wing ;D
I think it has a great vintage prototype feel ala the At-At Ion Cannon.
-
Hey Fritzkreig someone is copying you heh, heh
http://cgi.ebay.com/Star-Wars-ROTS-Custom-Clone-Air-Assault-Vehicle_W0QQitemZ6062627845QQihZ009QQcategoryZ101610QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Yours looks way better though, with alot more detail.
-
They didn't even have the decency to SAY that they STOLE this idea.
BTW, just a quick question while were on the subject. Has anyone else ever seen one of their stolen ideas copied and put on ebay? Ive seen one of my JLU customs copied a couple of months back. But never one of my posted SW customs. Personally I find this kind of thing to be offensive.
-
Yup. Every clone on ebay was originally my idea. :'(
;D jk ;)
Anyway, Fritzkreig version is much better. I wonder who will get a higher closing bid.
-
Here is something I've been wanting to do for a long time. Paint the included holograms that come with figures now a days.
Imagine what someone that paints Warhammer 40k can do with these.
-
Somebody here on the board has shown off a full set of these painted already. I can't remember who it was. I tried to go back and search for it but couldn't find it.
-
Woah, a set of those would be so cool!
-
Ah Ha! I found it. It was ExJedi. Here is a link (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=11050.0)
-
He did a great job on these. These are much better than the ones showing up on ebay. They are not bad little sculpts are they.
-
Those are...amazing!! I would love a set 8)
-
Those would be child's play for you.
-
I kind of like the paint pattern on this clone. Very swrilly.

This one looks really Good. I'm not sure if It's accurat6e but it looks great.
-
Your right. That is a good one. That gives me some ideas as to what to do with all the leather scraps I have in my customs box. Good find Fritz.
-
Is that bastillia from Kotor Fritz?
-
This one isn't too bad is it?
This one (http://cgi.ebay.nl/Star-Wars-ROTJ-Gargan-Jabba-Dancer-Custom-Figure-MOC_W0QQitemZ6065085472) isn't too bad, is it?
I believe I saw a WIP thread on this character over at GH. Right now, it appears GH is down or something....
-
That's Bantha 5's sculpt I think.
-
Wow, that Bastilla looks awesome...
:)
-
Jedi_Master Ben was working on a Yarna sculpt too. That is the one at GH (and here too). I'm not sure if this is Ben's final product though.
-
The head is not sculpted by Ben it doesnt have the same head-dress, and the face is not close to his at all. I do really like that bastilla though, it's the best I've seen someone do. :)
-
That's a fantastic Bastila!
She's my pick for the fan's choice poll (and coming closely in 2nd is ICMG) ;)
-
Don't know why in the hell a Clone would want to sit on one of these damn things... but I love this custom.

:)
-
Nice to see something different. I can't see why you wanna ride that animal, either. Looks like something the Vong dragged in the GFFA.... Hmmmm I smell a plot.... or that beetle!
-
Haha thats one of the guys cast from the one he sculpted at RS in the diaroma thing. If hes selling the clones too, then why the heck did he even make the diaroma? Its going to be just Aayla and the plants now lol.
EDIT: Oh the clones are just there for scale. Man he must be mighty proud of his skills to try and sell that thing for $70 :o
-
It's a cast of his original sculpt -- my guess is he's trying to recoup the costs of making the mold. My Jabba throne is only a bit larger and the cost of that mold was around $80. I'll be suprised if it sells for that price.
If he really wanted to sell it for that price he needed to make a custom ROTS window box for it. Then it might have sold in that range.
-
Either way it's a good sculpt but I think the price is a little high. He was orignally making casts to sell unpainted to some people at RS including me, but if all of them are $70, whew, I might have to pass now.
-
Not the Brain of a Genius is he. Make multiples, and sell each for around 15-20 bucks, instead of trying to get all of the money back in pass, the whole point of the mold is so you can make multiples if needed. ::) I will admit, if he drops the price I'll definately be getting one.

Check it out (http://cgi.ebay.com/Custom-3-75-Scaled-Star-Wars-AT-TE_W0QQitemZ170004605921QQihZ007QQcategoryZ101610QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem), a 3 3/4 scale ATTE the front may be a bit off, but if you add some panels, and Railings and such it could be really good. :D
