Now that Diamond Select is making Star Wars product, how long before we get Star Wars minimates? Would be interested in them?
-
I think I'd pass on mini-mates to be honest. I've got Kubricks and I'm ok with that. I might pick up a few here and there, but would otherwise be disinterested.
I've seen mention of them doing 1/3 or 1/4 scale stuff; that I'm curious to see.
-
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet but i was talking to the Diamond representative and he mentioned that in the assortments will be chase figures. He mentioned the obi-wan assortment will have a Ewan McGregor chase. The Hoth Han assortment will have will have a smuggler Han chase and the Darth Maul assortment will have a Darth Sidious chase. There was also and Indiana Jones on display.
-
They were very doubtful they could get the minimates done because of LEGO's license with LFL. :-\
No images of the 1:4 figures were allowed, but they were pretty sweet - like articulated versions of the Sideshow Premium Format figures with 1/3 the price ($75-$100). And, yeah, chase figures. Folks are going to get pretty ansy when they realize that the figures will have completely differnt chases...
Also found out from them that after Ben, Hoth Han, and Maul, they are working on a Bespin Luke (with Jedi Luke chase).

Chase figures? Ow. Run away, run away!
Dig the price, don't dig being annoyed. Methinks I'll stick with my already paid for Sideshow figs.
-
Actually, it seems that the chases might be more manageable that you think. The case packs are reportedly going to be 6 pieces. The hypothetical that the Diamond rep told me was that there would be 4 x Alec Guiness Obi-Wan's and 2 x Ewan McGregor Obi-Wan's. So it wouldn't be a case like say McFarlane Sports Picks where you don't know what's coming in a case.
But the 1/4 scale figures are definitely an eye-opener. They're extremely well articulated. And the price point is attractive, at roughly $75 per piece. The Sideshow Premium format pieces are the same scale, but are almost 4 times as expensive and have no articulation.
-
How does LFL decide who gets what?
This sounds like it could hurt Sideshow's 1/6 and 1/4 figure lines.
-
I think chase figures will turn people off from this line. Who wants to spend $450 for a case to be stuck with three figures. I'm sure you can sell the extra chase figure, but where are you going to find someone to buy the three regular figures?

I still can't believe these are only $75 - I wonder if that's the wholesale price (meaning the retail would be closer to $150).
-
$75 is the retail price. But if you check out Jedi Temple Archives DST article (http://www.jeditemplearchives.com/content/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=3703/#details), you'll find that Diamond is suggesting that retailers sell the chase figures at a higher price.
-
Wow, that's an incredible value then.
-
Those are cool, but I do not like the idea of chase figures.
-
The chases aren't going to be that tough to come by. There's 1 chase for every 2 regular figures.

Check out the pics over at Art Asylum on the UQS Luke Jedi.

I don't know, this just screams WTF! Looks like he's been riding a Taun Taun to long. :D
-
He looks like an adult Cabbage Patch Kid ;)
-
Yeah, the face is a bit off.

Diamond Ben Kenobi 5 stars!
Diamond Jedi Luke is nice, enough for collect, but they could have inspired in a more accurate face
the best head sculpt nowadays for 12 inches Jedi Luke is from Medicom Jedi Knight Luke.
p.d. Seems that it is not decided yet if Luke wears brown or black cape with hood in rotj.
