I see similar things in the Target and WM stores in my town.  A lot more support for Star Wars at Target than at WM.  WM isn't carrying the vehicle line or Galactic Heroes anymore.

Target is the only store carrying the Ultra Titanium vehicles while both stores have the 3" line.  WM, though, had so many of the 2nd and 3rd wave of exclusive vehicles that they never sold them all.  They have a huge endcap of them up now, probably over 100 vehicles total, and have only gotten in the newest waves once or twice while Target restocks them once or twice a week.

GI Joe is another line that Target dedicates more peg space to.  They have probably 9 pegs total for the $11 and $15 lines as well as vehicles and roll play items.  WM has maybe 3 pegs crammed in between SW and the Lanard figures.  They might have the vehicles but no roll play toys.

Target also has a larger selection of Lego and not just SW sets.  My WM has hardly any space and stocks maybe 2/3 of the current SW line.  WM doesn't carry the ARC or the Turbo Tank and no Anakin starfighter.  Target has all of them.

I haven't been in a TRU store in over a month and didn't find much there but they did still have a nice section set aside.  I'll probably get to the store again this Friday so I'll have to see how they're doing since the VTSC and Saga lines picked up....and now that their exclusives are shipping.

Oh, on the exclusives note, WM doesn't even appear to have an exclusive this year that we know about.  TRU already has 2 out with 2 more rumored and Target has their two also.  We haven't even heard about the second half of the year yet so who knows what Target and TRU will end up with.

They swear up and down that they've had it all planned out from the beginning.  We'll see..........  How long did/do they expect the show to be sucessful?

It's definitely a high concept TV show.  I read an article that said they had the overall idea of the island and what it is already planned.  The basic goings on from week to week, though, they're making up as they go to a certain extent.  The same article said something to the effect that things got put in the script that seemed like the next step.

In other words, they're just making **** up as they go.  I can see this show being popular for another season easily but we need to start getting some answers to things instead of just more and more clues that don't add up.

I checked out the web site this morning but I missed the commercials during the show last night.  There are some interesting things on the site and it does some odd things when you do things like submit a name for the newsletter or send the ape a greeting.

One thing I noticed on the page with the executives is that one guy is named Thomas Werner Mittelwerk.  Mittelwerk sounded familiar so I Googled it and Mittlewerk was a huge underground German factory in WWII where they made the V2 rockets.

So then I Googled Werner and found that a guy by the name Werner Heisenberg was the founder of quantum mechanics and worked for the Germans during WWII on nuclear fission.

Which all may mean nothing...or something.  But anyway you slice it, this is a damn good show and you really never know just what's going to happen next.

Notice that they just killed off the two people that were recently arrested for DWI?  Hmmm....

Anyway, I was totally blown away by that whole twist at the end of the show.  As mentioned, nothing suggested that leading into tonight's show.

I agree with your assessment of the Marvel Legends figures.  For $7 you get a lot of action figure.  I don't follow the other lines you mention so I never paid attention to the prices but I have seen the figures and there are a lot of Super Hero figures out there today that are well done.

I might also nominate the Sigma Six GI Joe figures for value.  They have two price points right now $11.99 and $14.99 at Target (The carded figs might be $9.99 at some stores but I'm not certain).  The $15 figures have a ton of accessories and include a weapons locker to store them in.  The figs are about 6" to 8" depending on the character and they have pretty good articulation.  I know a lot of Joe collectors don't like these but I've always liked the Anime style art and toys and I do like these.

Other than that, and what you mentioned, I can't think of anything off the top of my head that is a great deal at retail right now.  The TRU exclusive 3.75" GI Joe 6-packs were a good deal at $20 and the DTC figures that are starting to show there again aren't bad.  But the ML figures stand out for the detail and price.

I'd love to see some Aliens and Predator figures in 3.75" scale.  There are some Predator Micro-men sized figures, I think, but I want a line imported into the US.

I'd also love to see "Starship Troopers."  I loved that movie and have most of the Galoob collection that did come out.  The figs are really crappy but the Action Fleet stuff is awesome.

Babylon 5, Lord of the Rings, Battlestar Galactica (new), Star Trek.

There are a lot of other films and TV shows that I can think of one or two uniforms that I wouldn't mind seeing but not really full lines.  And as much as I love the 3.75" scale I'd really like to see some really detailed figures in 12" scale.  Then you get even better detail and more articulation choices in your figures.

Too bad some company couldn't get the licenses and do sort of a Captain Action type line where it's just uniform sets, no figures.  Then you could buy one or two uniforms or build a huge army or whatever.

Monica Kenna, Freddy Vs Jason hot chick.

Kevin

You know, Monica Keena is odd.  The first thing I ever saw her on was "Dawson's Creek" and I wasn't impressed.  Then I saw her in either Maxim or Stuff and then in "Undeclared" and she was pretty hot.  But she was just in an episode of "Without a Trace" last week and she looked like ass.

Moving on, I've had a thing for Carly Pope for a while:

I wouldn't mind getting the GG Shocktrooper bust and if I'm on-line when they put some up for sale to the collector club members I may see if I can get one.  If not then I'll just go with my plan to get a plain ROTS Clone.

I may go to WW Philly and supposedly the Vader in flames Bust-Up will be there as well so maybe I'll be able to get one.  If not, skip it (see a pattern?  heh).

I would really like to get one of the 501st Stormtroopers though.  That's a cool item!

Other Toy Lines / Re: 2006: What Are You Collecting?
« on: April 21, 2006, 08:33 PM »
I reevaluated at the beginning of the year.  So far I've passed on all the Saga figures that were repacked or didn't meet with expectations.  I cut out Galactic Heroes and after the ARC 170 I'm done with the 6" Titanium.  I never got into the new 2" Unleashed but I do want the upcoming set with the AT-AT Driver.

I haven't bought any Lego sets since I snagged the Turbo Tank last fall and I've actually sold off a couple sets and I'm kind of planning on selling more in the near future.

I spent some of that extra cash I've been saving on completing my Animated Clone Wars Character Keys and I've got pre-orders on the SS 12" figures but I'm thinking that I may not collect all of them.  I really want Mace though.

I have picked up a couple Sigma Six figures but I'm done with that line now unless they do a Scarlet figure.  Other than 2 DTC figures I haven't bought anything else that wasn't SW related.

I'm just going to go with my plans for reduced 3.75" figures and I still plan on filling in some older holes in the collection.  Plus I'm wrestling with the thought of downsizing and I'll probably make a call on that by the PSWCS summer social in June.

Tell me ... were you the one who took those pictures?
 ;)

I better hope so, b/c the "other" pics are probably a lot more "fun".... ;D

One question:  are they real?

I can't believe the important question hasn't been asked yet...What did you order from Amzon.com?  Star Wars collectibles?   :P

When was Terri Hatcher Nude?

For that matter, let's get an inventory of nude scenes for all the housewives . . .

She GTO'ed in a forgettable movie calle "The Cool Surface" from 1994.  I've got screen caps of her from that I believe.

Ugh.  I find Marcia Cross revolting.  Her face looks like clay or something.

I'm with you on that, I don't like Marcia Cross either.  Smokin' bod but there's something about her face that looks fake...it's odd and rather disturbing.

I think Terri Hatcher is hot but I have to admit that Eva is pretty damn sexy.

Overall though, I get tired of seeing the same people over and over again and the Houswives are getting to that point now.  Let's move on to someone new.

Joe Defender / Re: G.I. Joe Toys Thread
« on: April 12, 2006, 02:55 AM »
Because HasbroToyShop.com had a discount I ordered a DTC Low Light (one of my favorite classic Joes) and the comic 3-pack with Stalker, Snake Eyes and Stormshadow from Vietnam.

I'm kind of disappointed in all 4 of the figures.

Low Light, although he looks pretty good and I like the updated sniper rifle, has new arm joints that I don't like.  How long has the Joe line been using this new peg elbow instead of the riveted elbow and swivel bicep?  I picked up some late-wave 2-packs at retail that I didn't open (and they're boxed away right now) and I didn't think they'd changed to this new style?  He also has no neck to speak of which makes it hard to pose him prone behind his rifle.  Granted, not a lot of Joes look great that way but LL suffers from a short neck post and a high collar on his jacket.

Other than that, the paint apps are great, the uniform has a very vintage feel to it and the removable goggles are cool.  I just kind of like some of the VvV and Spy Troops figs better I guess.

As for the 3-pack, I don't like some of these figures either.  In general I like the vintage style bodies but I do like the new articulated wrists on the new figs.  Stalker is pretty good overall and the possibly the best of the set.  I'd have preferred a ball joint neck post though.  Good paint and the head sculpt is nice.

Snake Eyes just misses and it's more because of his hands than anything.  Only one hand (left) is really good for holding any accessories which kind of sucks.  I do love the detailed paint on the boonie hat and the shadowed eyes is a brilliant move.  I'd forgotten he carried the M-60 in the comic and it seems odd to think of Snake carrying something so big and unwieldy.  Second best in the 3-pack.

Stormshadow...I hate this figure.  The head sculpt sucks, I don't like the tank top and his hands are terrible.  He can't really hold anything in his right hand and the left barely works for his bow.  The bow looks nice, though, as do the arrows, but the quiver I don't like.  It feels kind of fragile and the shape of the sling is such that you can't really sling it over his back when he has his web gear on.  The web gear, although nice on some figures, doesn't work for me on Stormshadow.  I was really disappointed in this one and he was kind of the reason I bought the set.

I also thought they could have done a better job matching up Stalker's weapon to that in the comic.  They didn't do bad with Storm and Snake but the puny M16 that Stalker has is nothing compared to the night-scoped and silenced model shown in the comic.

I also ran into some DTC figures at TRU a week ago and the Monkey Wrench fig looked good as did the Cobra Trooper and Grand Slam.  I didn't buy them and after seeing Low Light I don't know if I'll bother.  Too bad.  With the new cards I was thinking about picking up this line but now, eh.

I used to use SSG.com once in a while for news but never logged onto the forums there.  YakFace.com used to be my go-to web site for all my news back in the days of EP1.  I don't remember when I came across RS.com.

Never used CSW.com but I wish I had.  IIRC that's where a lot of the vintage guys ended up after abandoning USENET.

man do I wanna thank you...so thank you...any ideas where I could order a cast of it?

p.s...anyone know where to get GiJoe hands too...yup..he got them too.

I don't know where you could get a cast of the head but if you poked around on eBay you could probably find another one or, at least the same head without the sand paintjob.

For hands I'd go the same route, hit ebay.  You can snag loose Joe figs for cheap.   Or, check your local Salvation Army.
