I wish they could just give us a cloth robe for Obi-Wan, since he had his hood up in that scene...and his arm in his sleeve.

Notice the spider made the least ****** up web with marijuana. Let that be a lesson to you, coffee drinkers!  ;)

I've never been arrested with a cup of coffee in my hand though.

Well I should hope not!

This isn't the thread for this discussion, but I just don't believe anyone should be arrested with marijuana. I'd much rather my tax money be spent on educating people of the dangers of breathing in smoke of any kind, as well as fighting problem substances like heroin, etc.

That's a pretty good deal to buy it with the ARC fighter. If I had the space I would pounce on that!

Ahem.

Getting back on topic, the laws in NYC make it difficult to legally own a handgun. I guess its pretty easy to have a shotgun though. When I move out of this wretched hive of scum and villainy, I'll probably be getting a gun. Especially when I become a home owner.

Here's a great idea, why couldn't Hasbro have put the AT-TE Gunner's legs on the #41 body? Then everyone on planet Earth would be happy with their clones.

I think that the reason most of the major collectors don't contribute to these sorts of things is because they don't want to deal with the attention.  I mean, I know a lot of guys who won't even acknowledge that certain pieces are in their collections.  They don't want to deal with all the annoying questions and offers to buy their stuff.  So they just share within their little circle.  Then there's the "I can't believe you paid $1000 for a piece of plastic" crowd they'd have to hear from.  So why go through the trouble of taking the photographs when the only people who will appreciate them don't stray from the RS Vintage forums?

I've considered sending in photos myself, but always end up thinking "Do I want everyone who goes to RS to know I have all this expensive stuff in my house?"  And I always come to the same conclusion.

That's a great point.

I personally have probably less than 20 vintage figures in my collection, and they're all from when I was a kid. They're played with, loose and worn. I plan on putting them in some sort of shadow box and hanging them on the wall, but that's something that would only be special or interesting to me and those who know me well.

My modern collection is pretty much complete. There's a handful of things I don't have, like force flippers and Toyfair Vader, but I do have a very comprehensive loose collection. Sure I have a few odds and ends that will remain packaged, but the majority is loose.

When I submit pics of my collection, I'll include the things that I feel the community here would like to see. And I won't submit until I have things assembled in such a way that (hopefully) people will enjoy seeing.

Again...

This thread was not intended to rip on people that don't have alot of SW figures. As I said several times before in this thread, everyone started somewhere. However, I wouldn't expect Road & Track to do a photo feature of my old Ford Escort from college on the front page of their website.

Nowhere in this thread did I rag on anyone, except my hypothetical example. I just think the news should be newsworthy. If that's elitist, then so be it. Obviously everyone's colllection is precious to them. If someone made their collection room look like the Mos Eisley Cantina, that would be newsworthy. If someone makes some mini dioramas for displaying their figures (as I mentioned before about CHEWIE and Daigo-Bah) that would be newsworthy. I just think a photo-feature on the front page of a news site should at least make you think "hey, that's pretty cool. I may have to try something like that!"

JD does it best, with a collections area in the forums. I hope that if JD ever runs collector's collections on the front page of the site, they be a little more selective than RS has been. Would you rather have visitors to your site look at the link to the Jedidefender Collectors' Collections (example) feature and think "Wow, these are always really cool. I wonder what they've found this time" or would you prefer "Meh, I think I'll go check out the Captain Typho fan club newsletter instead".

It just seems like quality over quantity is the way to go with these.

Yeah, I don't think I bitched about RS in general, or really ragged on people. I just stand by my opinion that a collection on the front page of a SW news site should be at least a little creative.

Hell, I'd rather see a handful of figures set up in such a way that shows a little imagination, rather than a bunch of odds and ends jammed into an old shelf. Again, just my opinion. It has nothing to do with Phillip Wise or any other part of RS except that section.

Here's a great collection, but what kind of idiot buys acrylic cases for every crappy POTF2 figure?? Philip Wise... That's who!

I can't help but wonder if his ROTS figures are stored in those AWESOME custom Rebelscum Protecto-pak StarCase things?  ;D

Additional Comedy Request: Can someone photoshop a Greg(gggggg) statue into one corner of the room so we can have "conclusive proof" of Lord Philip's shrine to GNT?  ;)

I think that battledroid is just begging to be touched by God himself...

I have to chime in here, and I certainly don't mean to step on anyone's toes, but I don't see the problem with any of the photos that RS or any other sites show of someone's collection.  Not everyone can afford a huge collection of rare items, and even the people that have such collections with such items are often unable to display them, either for time, space, or money reasons.

In my view, which seems to go right along with yours Lando, someone who has just started collecting and/or displaying the stuff with ROTS has just as much right to show their collection as someone who has been collecting since 1977.  I'm not going to judge someone's collection based on what they have vs. what they don't have, how old the stuff is or isn't, or the dollar value attached to it.  Some of my favorite pieces in my collection that I am most proud of are things that the majority of people would think are worthless and better in the garbage, but I like them and that's all that matters.

Every one of us started somewhere, with a very small collection, and if someone with a small collection wants to show photos of their stuff, that's all well and good to me.  My problem with the situation is that most of the time, those photos and/or ads for some overpriced etailer are the vast majority of that other site's content on the front page.  I don't see anything wrong with showing off your collection, regardless of the size, but when that's 90 percent of your "news", then I think it's the site with a problem instead of the collector.

No disrespect intended to anyone whose opinion differs so far in this thread, but a Burger King crown might be as special to someone as a Master Replicas Vader lightsaber prop to someone else.  It's all a matter of personal taste.   :-\

I understand what you're saying DoctorPadawan, but my point is that this should not be front page news. I like what we have here on JD, where there's a section of the forums devoted to this. I'm all for encouraging people who just started, but when I have a couple minutes during work to check on some collecting news, I don't need to wade through endless collectors' collections pics to find something interesting.

It seems as though you should be a little impressed when you click on a front page story. I'm sorry if it sounds elitist, and I'm well aware that there are people that have larger collectons than me...personally, I'd like to see them.

I think the great thing about showcasing the collections of other collectors is when their stuff is displayed in a unique way. Daigo-Bah and CHEWIE, for instance, both create lots of small dioramas that their figures are displayed in. I've seen pics of CHEWIE's display room. I'd love to see some pics of Daigo-Bah's display room. Anyone can take a bunch of stuff and cram it into an IKEA shelf. Not everyone can set up their figures in a way that shows some creativity, devotion and, frankly, experience with the hobby.

If any of you guys want to see your collections displayed on our front page, just pm or email me and let me know where to find some pics (or email them to me) and I will be more than happy to post them. We tried to do this a while back and had no takers... maybe now is a better time to try?

Maybe when I finish my Jabba's palace coffee table! ;)

The point though, is not to belittle people with less-than-dazzling collections. Like I said, we were all there at one point or another, and the more people joining the hobby, the better. The point is that RS is basically celebrating mediocrity (as usual). When I click on a link on the front page of a Star Wars collecting website there should be something noteworthy and interesting. Not something that looks like the loose contents of the clearance section at TRU.

That's right Rob.

Alot of the stuff is usually about 5-10 modern figures, with most of the figures being recent releases. And then maybe one packaged figure in the background.

Wow! This collection consists of Lott Dodd, Hangar Duel Anakin, ROTS Mon Mothma, a Neimoidian Warrior and...holy ****...a Bespin guard!!! Wow! There's even a POTF2 stormtrooper! Stop the Press!!!

I think they were trying to set it up for a sequel. Personally, I wouldn't mind a sequel. I just went back and beat Republic Commando for the 2nd time, and I still think its a cool game.

I wish the command system was a little more free flowing. The Squad follows your commands better than any other squad-based game I've played. I just wish I could choose where I want them to snipe from, rather than the game deciding for me. Something closer to SOCOM, but with RC's AI would be perfect.

Also, I wish the Trandoshans were a little more Bossk-like. I don't know where Bossk would even fit in with the Trandoshans in RC. And I'd love to fight other enemies besides Geo's, Trandoshans and droids.
