Lots of folks have been looking for Hasbro to re-issue the Vintage Collection ERGs, so that's a nice one. Ahsoka sells for huge $$$ on ebay, so that's another nice repack. Would have been nice if we had Ponda or Echo Base Rebel in there instead of Lando... oh well.

Glad to see the Emporers Royal Guard coming back. It's one of my favorite figures from the Vintage Collection. But these reissues seem like placeholders in addition to being some okay reissue choices. Walmart needs to lay out the peg space for this assortment now, as they reset their planogram for the Rogue One line. The Rogue One offerings will probably start with the second wave, after the first waves of 5POA figures have had a month or so at retail.

Admiral Ackbar?!?
Maybe he has a yet to be revealed role in Rogue One (don't spoil it for me if you already know) or Rebels Season 3, but that seems like an odd choice.
Lando seems like a bit of an odd choice as well.

Interesting choices. There isn't much secondary market heat for Ackbar, that's for sure. Really glad to see the ERG, never got a whiff of that guy. Agree Lando could have been replaced by someone better.
Ahsoka I find curious, unless she has some kind of surprise cameo in Rogue 1. ( :-X) Her Rebels figure is still readily available on most pegs. I do think the TVC carded version will retain its value, just not the loose ones. I hope so anyway, I got 2 kids to put through college one day. :P

The Rogue One offerings will probably start with the second wave, after the first waves of 5POA figures have had a month or so at retail.
Just like they did for TFA. SA versions of Kylo and FO Stormie were in Walmart Wave 2, Finn, Poe, Rey in Wave 3. Well after folks had ample time to buy up 5POA versions of all of them.
Pretty likely the same pattern will happen again. Everyone will buy up the 5POA Jyn, Deathtrooper, etc in Sept/Oct and then some later wave of the Walmart 3.75" Black Series stuff will invariably offer up nicer SA version for you to buy again in Nov/Dec. ;)

I never opened them. I debated selling one. Now maybe I can buy one and open it.
Never had that Ahsoka. Probaly still won't, given distribution/Wal-Mart.
If they improve the paint ops on Lando, so he isn't groucho Marx, that would be good...unlikely, though.
Ah, if only Ackbar were a new Mon Calamari officer/trooper. Wouldn't have taken much.
Yeah, Echo Base Trooper and Ponda Baba or ones I never saw like Jabba's Skiff Guard or Darth Plagueious...Plagueous or Darth cannotspellhisnameus.

Exactly. It's the classic double dip. They did this last year with TFA. And they will no doubt do it again this year with ROGUE ONE.
Also, barring the Ahsoka reissue, this is a ROTJ themed wave. The ERG, General Lando and Admiral Ackbar are all classic ROTJ characters. I'd like to see that Hoth Rebel get reissued, but I think we would need to wait for a TESB themed wave.

Like others I wish lando and Snackbar were someone else. Actually Legacy Hoth Rebel even filling a slot? But hey ERG is nice, and I may nab another Ahsoka I guess.
Other than the erg there seems like this may have Rebels tie-ins to it too, sort of. Like the TFA repacks were of figures in TFA who didn't have a basic figure... Vader aside but he does have a role in TFA of sorts too. Maybe they're hoping these have some cross appeal with the cartoon. Might also be tooling availability too I suppose.
The ERG is just popular.

The ERG and Ahsoka are great choices. Ackbar and Lando... I think it's good they're branching out again into secondary characters, because it seemed from the TFA offerings they were sticking to pretty much main characters / troops, but unless there's some tie in logic that comes to light later, they're odd choices. There are highly requested TVC characters that make much more sense in relation to Rogue One, so yeah. Odd. Glad to see the line rolling along.

I wouldn't mind a few more Royal Guards, but I didn't like how thick the fabric was... I wish the robes hung more naturally.

I'm wondering how easily this wave will be found? I wanna get some guards, but man I don't want a sea of Lando staring at me either. :-\ I'd be fine if this was a semi-limited wave of figures. Just enough to get to the masses and the valves shut off.
If that Lando's cape was a little nicer I'd pick him up again for sure. I hated that clasp they did. If they did one with thread I'd be all over it, just for an accessory.
Looking at some of the basic figures for RO, I'm already aware I'm buying some figures just for an accessory anyway (Stormtrooper's rifle? I'm looking at you buddy).

Absolutely! We already saw the ERG's in the trailer. I would love to see them mix it up, FWIW. There's this rich "Legends" backstory for them about being this incredible unit of warriors. But when it came time to actually see them do anything in ROTS, Yoda just levelled them.

I must've missed the ERG the first time around since I don't recall the 2nd helmet and shoulder pads.
Here's hoping Hasbro re-releases the figures that were hard to find during their original release.

There's a chinese ebay seller that carries that alternate helmet. Because ebay sellers only have the helmets you don't need. :(

Theoretically, yes. Though Hasbro "repacks" due seem to have slight paint app and color differences on occasion.
Ideally they'd fix Ahsoka's need for an orthopedic shoe on her one foot... I always hated that lopsided lean she had.
People forget too easily that not everything was roses in the TVC either. Amazing what a piece of cardboard can do to your perceptions. :P

IIRC, these were the last wave of TVC and were online only. The sold out really quick.
TBS has been pretty good about giving us some hard to get TVC figures. It's how I ended up getting Bastilla Shan for a reasonable price.

That online wave from the TVC line was VERY difficult to come by unless you ordered the full case. I wanted to get at least 6 ERG's, and it was tough to just come by three of them. So I welcome the ERG wholeheartedly.

The ERG and Ahsoka were both part of that last exclusive TVC wave. The other two I still wonder why they were chosen ultimately.

Now that I think about it, I probably don't have Ackbar either.
The more my brain is exposed for the Swiss cheese it's become, the better this wave is turning out to be.

Ackbar n Lando were at 5Below in some bulk but I don't recall seeing a ton of either in stores otherwise. Some but not pegwarming status... Yeah those other two, tougher gets. I forget what else was in that wave besides CW Kenobi which is pretty slick imo.
I know people love that ERG and I did too, but there is always a spot on my shelves for the ROTs guards too. Good figures in their own right.

I ordered two cases of the online only wave, the second case solely to get a second Royal Guard. I ended up selling the extra Ahsoka to McMetal, popped it in a bubble mailer and it apparently got crushed in transit to him. Always felt bad about that one so I'm glad he has a chance to get a MOC one (or for me to make that one up to him).

I bought a case, sold off the ones I didn't want and was able to get 5 more ERGs off amazon when they were offered at a nice low price.

Just found this wave on the pegs, so I grabbed 2 Royal Guards and a Finn. At the register the Finn scanned but not the Royal Guards, I played dumb and the employee called a manager over. The manager said "either these have been recalled OR, they arent supposed to be out yet, I better go make sure they havent put stuff out". So at least this manager was competent or not a liar (as it seems like the standard manager response is to lie...).

The store where I found this wave a few days before Force Friday had NO SIGN of this wave after FF. And the SW sections were terribly organized, too. I think that there was an over-correction at these Walmarts that broke the street dates. And when they did put stuff out? It seemed like an afterthought.

Aroud me some simply haven't stocked them. Two on the same highway as the one that did, maybe a half hour between first to last. I'm chalking it up to some stores not carrying them or not yet.
It's also interesting that the two without had clearanced the old ones as low as $5. The one that got them didn't clearance tbs 4" at all.

Hit or miss. Wave 1 (Luke/Chewie/Vader) was online right away. Wave 2 and 3 were put up after a long delay (months after retail release). Wave 4 (Leia, Han, Phasma) was, but it was secondary sellers at crazy prices.

Picked up Ackbar at Walmart. Left Lando. No Royal guards.

I've seen a total of 3 ERGs...and those were on Force Friday around midnight. One guy took two and I got the remaining one. Since then it's been nothing but Landos (I took one of those as well) and Ackbars. Great figures, but probably should have been packed a bit lighter in the case.
I'm also seeing a few FO Stormtroopers here and there...kind of nice for the army builders.

My bad. Sold or stashed. I held some in my hands, local friends texted pictures during the week prior representing all four of the Walmart's near me in the San Fernando Valley, so we know they had 'em. None of us were able to purchase them. None of those stores had them on the selves since. I know some were stashed and picked up later and one of the hot wheel guys bragged about using Finn to purchase a full case.

How have the paint jobs been on these? I found ERG, Lando and Ackbar over the weekend and grabbed the two ERGs the store had. One was perfect but the other had the visor kind of off. Not as bad as any of the FO Stormtroopers though. Didn't look at Lando or Ackbar since I have the TVC versions.

So if I took one of the ERG's and I used the alternate helmet and weapon and put that cowl-like around his neck, who is that supposed to be? I have a few of these now and was thinking it would make sense to display one as the 'other' character?

Seems like this wave is making a comeback. I've been to 3 Walmarts over the last week for various reasons and I've seen maybe 20 Landos, 20 Ackbars, 2 Ahsokas, and 0 ERGs. They have to be new because I never saw this wave locally, and haven't seen it period since I grabbed my set in a small town WM shortly after Force Friday 2016.
Gives me hope that we'll see more of the Rogue One figures and the Proto Fett wave eventually.

I saw a Royal Guard in the wild a few weeks back and passed. I'm done with this figure, personally.
If only the Scarif Trooper was as readily available as this figure.

I like the new Guard too. I wish he was a little taller, because he's like a head shorter than the TVC one. I am really missing the Scarif Trooper. Thats a figure I want a squad of. I expect to see a dump of him somewhere in the near future.

I've been thinking about making this one my official ERG myself. It's well done.
On a note related to this wave, during my marathon East coast trip, there were two locations, one in NC, the other in PA, I believe, that had tons of the Jyn/Death trooper wave with tons of ERGs. It was hard not buying in bulk, but I definitely didn't have enough room in my suitcase.
