I’m really excited about that Jabba’s playset / dio piece. That’s the highlight of the day for me.
-
My highlight as well. I hadn't heard any rumors of this, and would not have expected this - particularly in a non-cardboard form. Only bad part is the Wal-Mart exclusivity. Any word on price?
-
Exclusive to Walmart -

What is the trophy head that is not a TaunTaun?
This is really cool.
-
After all my years of playset grief and complaining, something special finally is happening.
-
Wow. This piece was a genuine surprise. And I think Hasbro did something really cool here. New figures would have been nice, but this playset is a major step forward.
-
Cantina alcoves would be a nice thing in this style.
-
This is like a “centerpiece” for 4” figures and that works for me. Nice big display for figures, nice detail, the lowering carbonite block is just gravy. It isn’t too big but isn’t too small. It is sorta squarish looking so it’ll fit shelves nicely, it puts two more TVC figs out that weren’t hard to get as TBS figs but are appreciated as they stand... I don’t need em but I’ll take them to get the rest of it all.
The only thing I wish it had was lighting for the Carbo Han Slab on the wall but I can do my own easily. Given Yak’s reveals this set still snuck by as a surprise and that’s awesome because we got the best of both worlds with timely info with early leaks and a shocker haha.
Only real legit honest bitch? Walmart. 🤷♂️ I doubt anyone disagrees there.
-
New figures would have been nice
I'm guessing these were easy choices because the work was already done? Remember back to all those rumors that these guys were supposed to be on TVC cards before it got scrapped and the Black Series 3/75" line was born. They probably had the cards for these two, and Boushh, all ready to go which is why they've been easy choices for the TVC reboot. :P
-
True. And the Han Solo figure and carbonite block are the centerpiece for this set. And if this is a reissue of the 3.75” Black Series figure from 2014? I hope Hasbro used the new facial deco techniques, because the original release was a horrid likeness.
-
This looks really nice, and at a decent price point. 2 figures and a detailed environment for $50?! I was worried this was going to be priced very high based on their recent TIE and AT-ST repacks.
-
Great surprise! Sucks that it's Walmart, though.
Wondering if the set should include a thawed out Carbonite slab? Kinda looks like the thawed one is included with the carded Han. Hard to tell for sure.
-
It looks like it's a reissue of the 3.75" Black Series Han Solo, carbonite block and all. PLEASE let them use the photo realistic deco on Han this time! As for other carbonite blocks? IIRC, the completely thawed out block came with the POTF2 Pop-up Jabba's palace playset. And another glowing/thawing carbonite block came with the TSC version of Han Solo.
-
Also a highlight for me. Very cool. I don't mind the figures but as someone said I think on Yakface, this would have been an opportunity to do like Hermi or Ephont Mon maybe on the vintage card. But you can't have everything. This is great and hopefully it signals some more sets, either Cantina or Hoth (Echo Base sort of corridors) or maybe the new films too (Scarif/Snoke Throne Room).
-
Kinda funny they snuck Ephant Mon onto the package in the background there. like ha ha, you'll never get anything like this again! :P
-
If it's articulation and assembly that really drives up Hasbro's costs, it might be in their interests to start producing more "display wall" playsets like this that are largely a hunk of detailed plastic without all that much production assembly.
-

Imagine how quickly they could put the Space Walls guys out of business with a cheaper product of the same quality, you mean?
-
I don't need this one, but I'm glad to see them doing these.
-
I wonder how I can fit this onto my Jabba's Palace Dio shelf.

Was thinking the same thing. Tantive IV corridors, Imperial computer rooms, lots to be done.

They really could... I can't remember what year it was (2010 maybe), I posted a "mockup Toyfair presentation" of what I'd like to see Hasbro make at Yakface, and the space wall concept was one of them and each set would come with 1-2 figures. Not long after, Galactic Merchants started showing designs for their 3D printed sets of them... we know how that faired though as they couldn't keep up with demand and the quality was just not there with 3D printing... then GTP toys started their thing and yeah they are expensive... love the quality though.
Here we are now with Hasbro finally dipping into this... their whole stance on playsets for a long time that "they don't sell" just seemed like it was coming from people who just didn't want to change any of their business model to try it out. I think a lot of it comes down to someone with pull at Hasbro actually wanting to do it, then it can happen. I hope these sets go over well and we see a whole lot more! Don't want to get ahead of ourselves because they might not really dive into these after this, but there are so many possibilities and the production costing for Hasbro wouldn't seem to be that high.
-
I’m really excited about that Jabba’s playset / dio piece. That’s the highlight of the day for me.
I'm with you. This is the coolest thing coming out of the show. I've been wanting to make a Cantina diorama and this is the perfect wall piece to build around.
-
I have to wonfer if there might be two or thee other sets coming out to complete Jabba's court.
-
Lets hope it does well enough to justify more sets. Hasbro went through the trouble of making Tontine IV corridors for Comic-Con last year, I would hope it'd be fairly cost-effective to down-size them for 3.75 inch.
-

So, half the cost of this is the two figures I'm assuming. $26 for the figures, $24 for the playset.
-
So, I watched the video review of this set that was posted over at Yakface and for whatever reason it didn't dawn on me until now that the Han/Carbonite is different from the previous release.
I was planning to keep the Han figure carded for my carded Han collection, but seeing that the figure apparently has the photo-real deco and the carbonite block has a magnet needed to work with the set, I guess I'll need to buy two Palace sets to get two Han figures- one to open and one to keep carded. ::)
Not sure what I'll do with all the extra ReeYees...
Also, for the carded folks, the video confirms Carbonite Han = VC136 and Ree-Yees = VC137. I have updated the JediDefender TVC Figure Release List (https://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php/topic,20182.0.html) with the numbers.

He won't fit on your Sail Barge?
-
He won't fit on your Sail Barge?
I already have the original 2013 Black Series 3.75" version on my Sail Barge. I'll probably just sell the ones from the Jabba sets I buy.
-
Scrapping any Jabba's palace dio then?
-
Scrapping any Jabba's palace dio then?
My Jabba's Palace dio is where my old sculpts are - POTF2 Bib, ReeYees, Yakface, Ishi-Tib, Klaatu, Nikto, etc. If I upgraded ReeYees there, I'd probably end up having to upgrade all those POTF2 guys on that shelf thanks to collector-OCD. :P
-
Hmmm extra pieces of the archway could be kinda nice to have tho. That set is just really nice. Hey it’s also fairly simple (hollow). Yet it’s also super detailed and Hasbro did nice little stuff like making it easy to light the Han from above through sculpted grates and then all the detailing on the wall backsides... this really is more interesting to me than the barge.
-
this really is more interesting to me than the barge.
Blasphemy!! :P
-
Nah this thing is just more my speed. Barge is cool but honestly I could live without it. To me it’s like the BMF. Nice for sure but to me just eh. The palace on the other hand is quite the spiffy display.
-

If you don't want you barge or BMF....

I think I'm going to be getting FOUR of these:
- One to keep Mint-in-Box
- One to open and keep the figures Mint-on-Card and put the carded figures with my MOC collection
- Two to open and open up the figures because I have a minimum of 2x of each Vintage Collection figures opened
So, I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the two spare displays.
-
So, I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the two spare displays.
I am on the opposite side of this dilemma. I need the display/playset (I have customers who want me to design inserts for the doorways and flooring panels) but am not interested in the figures.
I figured I would be selling the figures on eBay or my FaceBook page, but if there are enough people looking to unload spare playsets, maybe that would be my best route?
It is all going to depend how plentiful they are at the store, ultimately.
-
This is offered from an ebay china seller for like $15....suspicious, but people are trying it.

Couldn’t find a listing for $15, but found one for $109.99. Sold 78 so far, crazy!

Saw this yesterday at Celebration... it's way bigger than I expected. :-*

Up for pre-order on WalMart's website (https://www.walmart.com/ip/Star-Wars-Vintage-Collection-Episode-VI-Return-Jedi-Jabba-s-Palace-Adventure-Set-Playset-3-75-Inch-Scale-Han-Solo-Ree-Yees-Action-Figures/151509537) right now. I got a delivery date of 5/18.
Am I a glutton for punishment for trying the WalMart preorder stuff again?
-
Amazingly I got an in-stock alert from Walmart and managed to pre-order one. First time in the last 5 exclusives the in-stock alert has actually happened.
-
Out of stock again
-
I got an in stock email too which blew my mind since it never had sent one ever, for anything I have ever tried using it on. That was kind of wild to see.
My friends got in on a PO and got me my set so I’m good. Hooray.
I’m actually preordered up on anything I want now. Kinda nice. Once I find that retro Tarkin I’m set for a while.
-
I've been checking the link on and off today and finally hit one of the magic time slots where a pre-order was open.
My order says it'll ship on 5/16 - if that's true, I don't mind waiting a couple weeks to get this one knocked off my list without having to hit Walmart endlessly this summer looking for this set. :P
-
Well, if the JTA post about this item from May 11th is to be believed, it looks like I may have missed this item and my only shot may be scoring it at retail in the fall. Which considering the state of all my local WalMarts, means no chance whatsoever. :'(
I guess my plans for getting three of these (one to keep MIB, one to open everything, one to open and keep the figures MOC to put with my MOC TVC collection) will not come to pass, I'll be lucky if I get one to add to my collection.
-
Are we really expecting this to be that tough to find?
-
It's Walmart. Only God knows if it'll ever show up in a store

I’m dumb, I thought I’d clicked on the Retro Tarkin thread when I responded and recalled those having a similar street date.
-
It seems to me it’s in certain site’s best interest to keep claiming things are going to be super rare, super hard to get, or limited in availability in some way, without ever saying why they think this. They just do because I guess that’s more interesting to readers. It’s a tad early for the sky to be falling though.
-
I got charged for this one tonight... looks like they’re shipping soon.

You're right and guess what happened? This morning it was up and available for order again.
I was alerted by a friend and I jumped on the WalMart app, which I had set up with the item on my "list" and quickly added it to my cart and purchased.
So much for reporting "facts". The post about stock being "depleted" was nothing more than fear-mongering.
-
On it's way. Excellent
-
I got charged, and it says it will be ready for store pick-up today after 6PM, but I'm still in "preparing order" limbo... :-[
-
Received mine. Nice to have a WM exclusive go so smoothly
-
I’m supposed to get mine today, but have yet to receive a shipping notice. Mailman has already been by, so I’m sure I’m not getting it today. As long as I get it, I’m fine.
-

Has this ever, ever happened before with Wal-Mart???
I got mine today too and I think you're right Nick. I don't recall any time, ever, that you could pre-order something from Wal-Mart and have it delivered to your home. Heck, you generally can't even order a mainstream Star Wars collectible from their web site and have it delivered with any reliability.
Let's hope this starts a trend.
-
I wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s gone “smoothly“ since I know many others that are supposed to be getting theirs today and haven’t received them with no notification that it will be delivered at a later time. Seems like mileage varies in this case.
-
If they show up tomorrow or Monday that's still pretty smooth
-
Service-wise, from order to drop-off, I rate this 9/10. Ordering was easy, delivered on estimated date, and the condition of the item was as if I had my choice from a just-stocked shelf at a store. And the delivery notification was prompt. The one knock is for the lateness of the email with shipment info, which only hit my inbox overnight.
-
Does anyone know when this is supposed to make it to shelves, presuming it ever does?
-
It's Walmart. Only God knows if it'll ever show up in a store
I stand by this
-
Arrived today, exactly the day predicted. I'm hesitant to compliment those soulless fiends at Walmart, but they did a good job.

Finally looked at my Walmart account today to see that this is delayed for my yesterday delivery with no indication as to when I should expect it. No email notification whatsoever. Classic Walmart!
-
Mine shipped and is expected on the 22nd, which is the exact date that it said I’d get it when I preordered.
-
Mine arrived yesterday as well. Haven't gotten a chance to open it yet, but man that vinty box is pretty.
-
Is the carbonite slab sized correctly or is it undersized? I think it's the same as the black series 3.75" slab, but I honestly can't tell if it's the right size or not. I'm considering picking one of these up just to take the Tauntaun and Jerba heads and slab, but I want to make sure it'd be worth it. I'd sell the extra archway, if anyone is interested.
-
I believe it's the Black Series slab, which to my eye looks correct, but I am pretty sure it's the slab with, at best, a magnet added to it.
-
And still nothing... No updates, no communication, nada.
-
My 5/18 estimate got skipped over, and I was able to pick it up on Wednesday the 22nd.
Overall the most impressive part of the set (I do like it a lot) is the pricing. Fifty bucks for two TVC figures and a playset, when 3 a figure 3-pack costs $50 too? At the most, the playset portion cost me $24.
I am looking at selling the carded figures to a carded collector, since this is one of those rare instances where the packaging seems significant and will probably be rare. (If I keep them I would open them.) Selling them off will recoup a lot of the cost, I think.
As far as I'm concerned, Hasbro can scrap the TVC figure line entirely (I had a brand new Meijers store open nearby last week, and they opened the doors with a fresh case of TVC 2018 Wave 1 on the shelf. Good luck with that!) Just release figures as pack-ins with newly sculpted playsets and vehicles from here on out!
-
Picked up mine yesterday at Walmart ship to store. Had to wait the usual 15 minutes ::) for someone to show up and grab it, but the set is pretty awesome. They gave me what looked like a sealed case of two, so I initially thought I was getting a BOGO, but they had taken the second one out and just re-taped it with air packs inside. I didn't think $50 was a deal by any means, but the pricing is fair for what you get.
-
Got mine over the weekend at a local geek meeting and man it’s pretty cool. It’s three walls with some detail sculpted into them so it’s not exactly groundbreaking but it’s cool. Kinda wish I had another now and may pick up a second in the future if they become easy enough to get.
I didn’t open the figures because, honestly, the absurd money carded guys are willing to pay for stuff these days makes me reluctant to.
The details are nice on it. Hasbro put a lot of thought into how collectors may want to light it or at least let the room’s lighting pass through it. Kudos to whoever designed it for that. It seems like a lot of care was given to some little stuff. I could see going nuts with LEDs with it and really making it nice.
-
I sold my carded figures over the weekend. Offset the cost of the playset piece down to just $5. I can handle that!
Spent some time this weekend creating supplemental pieces for the floor and arches as requested by several of my customers. I think they turned out well. The floorpiece has flaps to allow it to extend or contract depending on the configuration you choose...

That looks awesome!
-
I concur with nick. That is a cool looking background
-
Finally got some kind of communication from Walmart regarding this.
We're sorry.
Your items are on backorder.
Hello P-Siddy,
We're really sorry, but one or more items you purchased are currently on backorder and may be delayed. We'll be getting more inventory and will fill your order as soon as we can.
If we can't ship the items by 06/07, we'll cancel the items, begin processing your refund and let you know by email.
If you'd rather not wait for the items to come back in stock, you can cancel now them by following this link or signing in to your account.
If you have any questions, please visit our Help Center. Please do not reply to this email. This mailbox is unmonitored.
So a little more than a week and I'll find out if I even get this. And wasn't this up for order again over the past week?? Definitely not a smooth transaction. Just... Hasbro Pulse needs to have all future exclusives.
-
Don't despair yet! I got that same email hours after the initial pick-up time they had promised...and at just about the same moment they charged my card and I started being able to track the FedEx shipment to the store.
I can't for the life of me figure out how they are able to botch this up so badly, it apparently has something to do with miscommunication between a chainwide website and regional distribution centers, but it is something they need to streamline out of their system if they are going to persist in the online preorder model.
Not that the brick-and-mortar model of exclusive distribution has been great for the past 20 years, either, but at least they didn't yank your purchase out of your cart at checkout and sell it to the guy in line ahead of you...
-
Still nothing and according to Walmart.com:
This item is no longer available
We're unable to show you buying options for this item.
Nice to hear that this was up for order a couple weeks ago and they got their orders fulfilled before the people that ordered right away. ::)
-
Still nothing
If you head up to MN this summer, you can stop by my house and look at my two sets if you want... >:D
Joking aside, this is a pretty awesome set. I have one set up with the carbonite block in place with the "I've come for the bounty on this wookiee" scene figures and the other one is block-less with with the "Sarlaac Sentencing" scene figures.
Looking forward to seeing what they do next (if anything) for playsets.
-
I don't know why I find "Sarlaac Sentencing Scene" so funny. I kind of picture the sarlaac in a cheap suit standing before a judge, tentacles hanging out of it's pants and a mess of sand on the floor.
Hey Jeff, what's up with the front page? Are you switching over to a new layout? I'm not seeing any news content at all.
-
I am continuing to kick myself for not being able to get this while it was briefly available online. Secondary market sellers are trying to get $150 for this set, and I haven't heard a peep about this playset turning up in any stores.
-

Well, I had a preorder that they cancelled on me, even though they fulfilled orders when it popped up online again weeks after I did my preorder. ::) I've been checking online on their page and brickseek… nothing going on on their site, but "out of stock" statuses on stores near me appeared a week ago on brickseek when there was nothing before, so maybe these will start showing up in stores.
-
I sincerely hope so. Could WalMart seriously be waiting to stock these until Triple Force Friday?
-
I think we're in luck. I just pulled a Rob and ordered a Black Series Carbonite Han off of Amazon for my new skiff.
-
Yakface reports that a guy in Chicago area found these in store

I really think this is the case. The current Walmart planogram has 0 TVC presence, and includes the Solo Kessel Playset. I expect Jabba's Palace to show up in store (if at all) when the planogram revises for Triple Force Friday.

I got mine on Walmart’s website a few months ago. Normal retail pricing, delivered to my door. :)
-
Missed it when it was online. My local walmart has a completely empty Star Wars section except for one lone beat up kid lightsaber. It's pathetic. It's been that way for a month now. All the stuff that was there is in their clearance aisle but not on clearance.
-
YES! I finally was able to order this on the Walmart website and got it reserved for pickup.
-
Still nothing in my area. >:( Damned distribution.
-
I stopped by a local Walmart last night to see what was left after Friday and they had the Jabba’s Palace set. I didn’t get it as it’s not quite my cup of tea, but it was there at the store.

Help a fellow out?
-
Was finally able get one of these...screw Walmart
-
Never seen these in a store but did get one online way way back when they first surfaced. I want another one for the parts but not the figures. Local buddy may have one but not sure he still it.
-
I managed to snag one more set via ship to store. I only got it for the figures, so if anyone wants the actual playset, minus the figures, it's up for grabs for half the cost plus shipping.
-
Saw these at two different Walmarts over the weekend. Appears to be a case of your Walmart either gets it or doesn't, and if they don't, you're screwed.

Willing to help a fellow out? All of St. Louis is screwed at the moment.

Dropped by a Walmart on the off-chance they have anything new (Palace Playset), but they had nothing. Nothing! No Star Wars Toys of any kind. Not in the aisle, not a display... nothing to even suggest that there were new Star Wars toys released ten days ago. ZERO Star Wars footprint! I'll never see this thing.

all went from out of stock to limited availability. My friend Jeff just picked one up from the LeMars store. They're still hitting.

-
I got one of these for P-Siddy over the weekend while attending a football game. It was the last one, and I was lucky to find it, as someone went through all the small town Walmarts recently and cleared them out so that they have just as much stock as the big city Walmarts (i.e. nothing at all)
-
Digging that this set is going over well. Look forward to more. :)
-
Never say it at walmart. Their star wars section is just lightsabers. No figures. No vehicles. Nothing.
-
These have never hit here. It’s very strange when others have gotten many it seems... then again it took eons for the Mimban Troopers to show here while they were popping up routinely elsewhere.
-
Anyone buying a second set and have spare tauntaun and jerba heads?
-
Picked this up today locally... finally... go figure.
-
I saw this today on the shelf for the first time and man it was tempting.
-
Grabbed one of these today finally. Figure it’s intended to be a Black Friday item.
-
I'd be interested in the display + heads + carbonite Han if anyone wants the carded figures.
Alternately if anyone sees a set and wants to pick it up, I'd appreciate it. Obviously I pay costs.
Saw it in Hawaii in early November but no room for it.

Available for reg price on walmart.com with free shipping.

Found these at my local Walmart today.

I picked up another one of these today. They've been marked down on the Walmart website
Star Wars The Vintage Collection Episode VI Return of the Jedi Jabba's Palace Adventure Set Playset with 3.75-Inch-Scale Han Solo and Ree Yees Action Figures (https://www.walmart.com/ip/Wars-Action-Jedi-Set-Playset-Vintage-The-Star-Solo-Return-Adventure-Palace-3-75-Inch-Scale-Figures-Jabba-s-Episode-VI-Ree-Yees-Han-Collection/151509537) - $24.88

All the freaking out and scalping and people not able to find them and now they're available for $25... crazy.
EDIT: Screw it, I just ordered a pair of them. $54 shipped, I can sell of the carded figures, and I'll use the extra parts to beef up the Jabba's part of the shelves.
I bet I'll be $15 or $20 in for two more wall-sets when it's all said and done.

Got a 3rd tonight and short of that going lower I’m done.
-
Just ordered one for pickup at my local Walmart, and I'm going to cut it to pieces to use for parts for my Jabba's palace diorama.
Any word on the validity of the second set with the barbecue spit? It'd be nice to know before I sculpt one.

In a playset mood.
After this hit clearance they quickly disappeared in my area about 3 weeks ago. $30 was the markdown and they didn't stick around long.
My guess is they will follow this set up with a companion piece, so as long as the Freeze chamber performs to their liking.

So... I have an extra one of these that I bought on clearance for like $15 and I just found myself wondering if it might be good for a Book of Boba Fett section on the shelf...
Anyone else thinking along those lines?
-
Yes, but it would sure be nice to have a throne to go with that set...
-
If Hasbro is not planning a TVC exclusive set with a Boba Fett and that TBOBF throne then they are stupid. Make it a Pulse thing like the Palps/Throne set and it's easy money.
-
I'm definitely expecting the throne to happen... if it doesn't, there are a lot of customizers selling 3D printed, painted ones for $80 or $100... wouldn't want to pay that, but I probably would if push came to shove. OR, I'd just buy the Hallmark ornament.

Pretty much summed up my thoughts on this. Frankly, I'm surprised it didn't come with the deluxe figure.

I would be interested to see the Hallmark ornament set in from the the Jabba's Palace Adventure set. Just to get a sense of the size of it relative to the playset, but also because it's pretty much to scale with the 3.75" action figure line.
