i agree... for the longest time i only really wanted the car manufacturers to make cars that got better mileage so that the oil resourses would last essentially forever (to me).  now that the oil producers are clearly trying to see exactly how high they can jack the price before we cry uncle i would love to see the entire transportation industry switch to some other fuel source.

Way to go Dressel, you ****, you've obviously scared Force Guy off.

****.

Plus these ****** gas prices are Bush's fault.  **** Bush.[/totally sarcastic; don't ban me]

Look Dressel.  You crossed the line.  Although I lost the bet about a Kerry '04 victory, you agreed you'd keep the spoils of your victory a secret.  Now every closeted right winger is going to be bugging me for handjobs.

Closeted?   :)

I am a proud conservative, and I'll shout it from every mountain peak.  And the handjob wasn't bad either.

Would you believe I found a station this morning at $2.79?

He's notoriously higher than everyone else...but not today.

They're predicting a $.50 drop by July 4th in most areas.  As long as there's no big hurricanes.  I guess they got the refineries back up and running after the conveniently-timed maintenance.  My station is already down $.15.

Oil to Run Out Sooner Than Expected

And you're looking at WWIII if we don't have something in place by the time it gets really dire.

Oil to Run Out Sooner Than Expected

You guys are believing **** printed in the Independent?  Holy crap, it's about 1/16th better and more reliable than the Enquirer and only on it's good days.   :o

The world has been ending for about 100 years now, in the press, on a daily basis, since at least the mid-60s, or so the Club of Rome said.  We were doomed, running out of not only natural resources but food too, no way could we feed 4 billion people, never mind six (with the caveat that there's enough food, just not an efficient distribution system to the third world thanks to tin pot dictatorships of all manner).

Relax.  Support alternate fuel supplies (but examine them to see if they fall into the snake oil category and what they're impacts might be cuz you don't get something for nothing).  Conserve what we have (starting with stopping buying little plastic men made from oil and shipped from very far away and then trucked to your store) and we'll move along fine.

Besides, it's not oil that's the limiting resource in the world, it's water.  You've been told.

It's been a while since someone has commented in this thread, but when I hit my local Costco over the weekend, regular was $1.81 a gallon.  I didn't think gas prices would ever get back down to this price point...this is just amazing to me.  I won't complain either if it keeps going lower.  Wouldn't it be nice to be able to lock in at a per gallon price like how Southwest Airlines does with their fuel hedging contracts?  I wonder how much lower the gas prices will go?

$1.65 in the North Chicago Suburbs.  Who would have thunk it.

Once things turned political (around the June timeframe) the thread was moved to 'The Sarlacc Pit'.  It's been pretty up to date since then.

Ah, I see.  I guess I should venture into the Pit more often.  Looks like Chewie found gas at $1.51 a gallon about 2 weeks ago.  That's awesome.  Brent, you finding it at $0.14 less doesn't make me feel like I got such a great deal anymore ;).

It dipped below $1.50 last week in the KC area.  I actually saw it as low as $1.39 on the Missouri side of KC on Saturday.  The other day it cost me less than $20 to fill up my tank.  I almost shed a tear.  :)
