Ugh.  What a month indeed!

I still remember that Rodney Dangerfield Young Comedians special from 1984.  That was the first time I saw Louie Anderson, Bob Saget and Sam Kinison.  They were all amazing!  And all gone too soon.

Mine arrived today.  And both in really good condition!  Shocking for a Walmart exclusive.

If someone got theirs mangled by Walmart and wants to trade a non-mint Mando & Grogu for a mint one, LMK.

I just opened my first set of Rebel Fleet Troopers.  WOW!  The execution on these is really good!  The facial sculpts are excellent.  I did have concerns that the Captain Antilles likeness and the Pello Scambras figures had the same head sculpt but different paint apps, but seeing them in person made it clear that's not the case.

As for how many to get?  A total of 4 of these sets will suit me just fine.  I managed to get at least a dozen of the RFT's back in TVC 1.0, and I have 3 Tantive IV playsets.  These figures will help fill out the ranks in my Tantive IV, Yavin and other Rebel Alliance dioramas.

Is the rank badge for Antilles a sculpted detail, or is it just painted on? Looking back at the images, aside from the head sculpt he looks like just a pure repaint of the RFT. Which is a bit disappointing since his coat should be long sleeved. I can totally live with it, but it is disappointing nonetheless.

I'm curious how the figure looks in person even just compared to the 2004 TSC Fan's Choice version.

It looks really good.  Much better than the "Haley Joel Osment" version of Captain Antilles from the SAGA line back around 2003, which was IMHO probably the worst executed Fan's Choice Figure that Hasbro has ever made.  Although that figure was designed for Vader to choke, and for him to clutch at his own throat.  Given the state of action figure design at the time I suppose it was well done.  But this new figure is far better,

The rank badge is painted on.  I had to examine it really closely to make that determination.  It looks like there's some texture there, but it's really well done.  The key for pulling off the Captain Antilles looks is that they REALLY paid close attention to the execution of the paint apps.  That rank badge is one of the key points.  The other is the color choices for the "jacket" and for the shirt.  They're distinct enough from one another to pull off the illusion of a light tan jacket over a dark tan shirt.

And another key thing at work here?  The non-removable vest.  When the Rebel Fleet Trooper first came out in TVC 1.0 I was kind of annoyed.  Why would it NOT have a removable vest like the POTJ version?  In retrospect that removable vest really didn't add much to the figure.  With the vest off of the POTJ RFT it looked pretty weird, and the vest looks a little weird in other kitbashes.  Truth be told, the molded vest helps pull off the illusion that this is a jacket.  I don't think anyone planned for that back when the TVC Rebel Fleet Trooper was first released over 10 years ago, so this is a happy accident that Hasbro could turn the RFT into a passable Captain Antilles.

The only points of concern for me?  The pants aren't accurate.  And I also don't know if the likeness was based on the actor from ANH or from ROGUE ONE.  Beyond that, I think the Captain Antilles is a great figure.

Of the 5 Iíve gotten on eBay, 4 were already open.  The 5th was sealed.  Itís truly a blind box situation.

I was tempted to cancel my Pulse order.  But the officers and wider range of likenesses makes these sets pretty appealing.

There was at least a month between my Shop Disney order arriving and when my Hasbro Pulse Stormtroopers were delivered.

As for the Rebel Fleet Trooper sets?  I preordered those on Hasbro Pulse the day they were listed.  I ordered the RFT 4-packs yesterday on Shop Disney and I got a shipping notification today.  Itís perplexing how one order is getting fulfilled immediately but I havenít gotten any indication of when the order that was placed further back will ship.

I'm pretty excited to see what our own Muftak comes up with to augment this set.  If you follow him on Instagram you might have seen this video of him unboxing a shipment with this playset.  I'm personally wondering if he might be attempting to tackle the alcove that's seen to the right of the bar in the show.  This is where the grate is located where Din Djarin and crew escape into the sewers.  Or perhaps a booth?  Either way, I'm excited to see what he comes up with.

There's definitely a "cyber punk" aspect to this bunch.  And some of the costumes actually reminded me of something from Buckaroo Banzai.  The core of the idea seems plausible.  But where I checked out on them was with how shiny and new everything was - that stands out.  Especially since one of the core aesthetics of Star Wars revolves around the concept of the "used universe".

From a big picture perspective?  Boba Fett is still pretty much on his own.  From the beginning of the series it was just him, Fennec Shand, the two Gamorreans and 8-D8.  The gangs that are supposed to be allied with him really haven't shown up much beyond the Aqualish and Trandoshan that paid tribute to him in the first episode.  He needs to build his organization.  These kids are odd, but they spoke back to Boba, and he seemed to respect their willingness to do so.  Back during the OT I might have expected him to dispatch them quickly.  But the Boba Fett of this series has been through a journey that seems to have changed him on a fundamental level.

Oh...  and I don't trust Danny Trejo's character.

I share your annoyance with that particular Hasbro Pulse site glitch.

I've seen a good deal of people who have taken issue with the speeder chase.  And I have to wonder if the show may have run into some of the limitations of the production techniques that they've been using.  Can the Volume (the virtual projected set) deal with or capture a sense of speed for something like a chase scene?  Could there be a speed limit where the background images blur too much to capture it well in camera?

Likewise, if there's an actual set, how much of a budget does a show like this have to build a practical set that can be used for a chase scene?

Triple checked my address on my Razor Crest order - JUST IN CASE!  And was shocked to see that it was some 5 pages back in my Hasbro Pulse account order history, from September 27, 2020.
