Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Gambling...
« on: August 25, 2003, 08:22 PM »
I was driving home from Orlando one time, and there was a huge detour on the interstate...

The detour took us right by the Seminole Indian Gambling Casino - so we stopped.

I started with $4.00

I won some slot machine thing and at one point was at $6.00

Needless to say I was rollin'

But, from that point on I was rollin' down hill - I left with nothing.

I learned my lesson, and it only cost me $4.00

Nice to see you around these parts Zod and I hope that you are enjoying Texas.

So far so good.

I caught myself helping to ruin a perfectly good topic about debt by getting wrapped up in arguing with Dressel, and remembered why I registered here in the first place.

So I'll try to make more quality posts here and vent all that nonsense over at the scum...

For the last month or so, i've been finding new stuff pretty much exclusively at Target (and supertargets)

They've all redone their toy sections this month too...

I was worried.  But after seeing the new product hasbro has in line for the rest of 2003 and into 2004 I'm not.

The word now is that there will be no more films after E3 is done...but I have a cautiosly optomistic feeling that Lucas will go on - if he can find a way to do so.

I feel this way, because George Lucas loves making money.

And he can make much more of it with films to make.  He says he doesn't want to be doing this until he's 70, but lets face it, SW is his life's work.

If he makes another trilogy, the toys will continue probably until at least 2015.

If he stops after E3, the line will probably die out around 2007 or so.

If it survives beyond the movies, it would have to be strongly geared towards collectors - ideally meaning POTJ style sculpting and new characters...  There would also probably be way fewer figures released every year...

Either way, I've started finding new product recently and am overall pretty happy with the line - the Clone Wars toys aside :)

Why do they have to make this an online exclusive?

Why do they have to make this at all ???

I'm pleasantly suprised :)

My only concern with everything that's happened over the last few days is these JMP auctions...

I have a feeling that even with my 3000 points, I won't be able to get anything decent....since there are many out there who have 1000's more than even I do.

But we'll have to wait and see I guess...

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Jedi Points? Your Prediction
« on: July 17, 2003, 01:16 PM »
I'll be quite curious to see how they handle the "you need to include your receipt(s)" deal.  Obviously a lot of the points we've saved up are pretty damned old now, and most people have tossed their respective receipts out long ago (but not me!  ;D)...  'Cause if it's just a "receiptless" offer, you're going to wind up seeing a lot of badly damaged product on the store shelves!  This is going to be very interesting to see how they run their JMP rewards program...   :-\

GNT said that hasbro announced at some point that reciepts would NOT be required for whatever program they decide to put into place - specifically for the fact that it's been 4 years since JMPs first hit, and only now will there be a promotion.

The way I see it is this....

If they're going to do this promotion, it has to be on some level where children can get in on it.

Meaning, if I was 8 years old, I probably wouldn't have the means to save up 3000 jedi master points.

So, if it was say a figure, it would have to cost around 100 or 200 points max for a child to be able to get it.

So I hope they make something where we can order multiples.

Quite frankly, I'd prefer that it either be something completely exclusive - prefereably an army builder, OR...

Commtech stormtroopers - because then I'd be happy getting more than 1.  Because i have around 3500 JMPs and I'm sure many of you guys have even more than that.

If they do make something that costs 1000 or more points, that's fine with me, but it would make lots of people upset (carded collectors, kids).

After those new images,it looks like they're trying! :) :D

Yep, those figures are so good looking, it almost makes up for the creation of Durge  ;)

Here we go it is the guy sitting next to our buddy who I would guess is the other Dignitary they are making not the one I want on the far right

A few years ago I used to play in this band and we had some star wars images in the CD artwork....

Anyways, I wanted to use the above picture as a 'band' picture, and just put our five names across the bottom.

For some reason, it never happened...

Hopefully eventually we can get all 5 of these guys, but I'm just thrilled for now that we're getting one, and a second one is just icing on the cake.

These are all fantastic.

Looks like hasbro really is starting to go all out on figures again - thank goodness for non-movie years.

They really did the dignitary justice with that sculpt.

But of course, now I want them to make the other dignitaries :)

KBZ's ten points to success:

- Redistribute in appropriate quantities all of the 2003 product since many didn't get it.

- More obscure characters, with good sculpts and lots of articulation.

- Finish the OT vehicles, all we really need is a cloud car, escape pod, sandcrawler and sail barge.

- Sith Infiltrator.

- Keep the screen scenes comin'.

- Get cantina wave 2 out - and get us a U-shaped piece for the bar.

- Find something GOOD to do with the 4000 jedi master points most of us have collecting dust in a drawer somewhere.

- Playsets / dioramas - and large ones, with movie accuracy.

- limit the rehashes and more importantly the repacked figures - some of us are compulsive and buy everything even though we already own it - please don't take advantage of us :)

- Hermie Odle.

Of course, I'll buy whatever they put out pretty much regardless.... :P :-[

My review of this film (previously posted at the scum):

"Pirates of the Carribean will do for the high seas what The Mummy did for ancient Egypt."

I think it will probably be dumb - but it could be, and hopefully will be, fun all at the same time.

Some of the finest SW collecting folks and discussion on the net!  Very civil and mature too, which is quite refreshing considering some of the alternatives.  Looking forward to seeing your thoughts around the joint here!

That's why I'm here  :)

Thanks for the welcome  8)
