So...I'm pretty sure I can see at least:
Colonel Henrick Wulff Yalaren
Admiral Motti
Grand Moff Tarkin
I sure hope this is a Death Star Conference Pack
(http://massassi.yavin4.com/sw_img/e4star29.jpg)
Which would mean we'd probably also get Chief Bast and General Tagge
I'd also be happy with a new Piett and maybe a Needa...that leaves really only the Black Tuniced Officers from ANH to be made
The Officers usually are right up there on the JD Wishlists so they'd be nice to see (my only wish is that it is Yularen and not Thrawn (Puke))
Hope number 2 is that someway somehow, the Death Star Conference Table comes with this set. I can live without it, but it would kick ass
-
My hope is that they didn't just stick a new "old Tarkin" head on the old "new Tarkin" body (does that make any sense at all?).
. . .but that looks like what they did.
Oh well.
-
A re-painted body by the looks of it. Great set though from what can be seen, definately picking up this set!
-
I sure hope this is a Death Star Conference Pack
Me too... although my "if it looks too good to be true" sense is tingling. :-\
I guess we wait for the other shoe to drop. It'll suck ass if it turns out to be a EE exclusive for $40 or something. :P
-
Yeeeesh,that makes you think. :-[
-
It'll suck ass if it turns out to be a EE exclusive for $40 or something. :P
You just jinxed it. You had to go there. Dammit.
-
A re-painted body by the looks of it.
Right. The EIII Tarkin figure is fine enough, for a figure of a character that makes a two-second, non-speaking cameo in the very end of the film, but the costume is inaccurate to Old Man Tarkin's. The boots are the biggest difference (anyone have a full-body pic of Old Man Tarkin from the film handy?), but another big difference is in the height--Young Man Tarkin figure is pretty tall, but I believe Peter Cushing was a fairly short guy in real life. It'd be a shame if that's how they've done a figure that a lot of us have wanted "revisited" for several years now. . .
(And what's with the "no spaces" thing between the punctuation? For the record: one space after a comma; two spaces after a period. Or is that what all the kids are doing these days? If so, let me start the next trend: Nospacesbetweenthelettersatall, ever.)
-
It's a Battle Pack. Hasbro has put new figures in, what, 2 of the 800 Battle Packs they've released? I bet they just repaint the ROTS Tarkin's head grey. :-\
While I'd LOVE for this to be a DS Conference set, I'm thinking that from the similar dressed officers that this is a "Most Important Imperials" set, something with kitbashed/repainted Tarkin, Ozzel, Piett, Motti, and Veers.
-
Oooh if this is a conference set, this will be a nice set. And if that is a ROTS Tarkin with an ANH sculpted head, a few parts swaps would be in order to make a more accurate ANH Tarkin and then a unique Imp officer. Looking forward to hearing the details on this, my Imperial forces always could use more commanders.
-
(http://red6.home.insightbb.com/Aliens/Imperial/praji.jpg)
If they make either of these guys (named Praji and Jir) and resculpt Piett, I'd never need another Imperial Officer (unless they **** up Tarkin badly here)
-
There's another picture around and in that one it looks like 5th figure, all the way on the left, is Thrawn. So I think that this is just a set of "Imperail Officers" and not a conference scene set. More like the Astromech packs.
Agian, since I have all of the original releases, this is another big snore.
-
(http://www.rebelscum.com/sdcc06/preview-Hasbro/IMG_0102.JPG)
Thrawn or Colonel Henrik Wulff Yularen. . .
I'm taking Yularen.
-
If it is Yularen, I wonder which body they chose to use and whether or not they'll fix the color of the pants. ISB personnel wear black pants with a whitish/grey coat.
-
ISB personnel wear black pants with a whitish/grey coat.
Oh. Didn't know that. Don't follow any of the EU crap, so for all I know, the good Colonel was wearing a pair of cutoffs underneath the table.
(Yes, never-nudes are everywhere--even in the Star Wars universe.)
Guess it could be Thrawn then, but I still hope it's the Wulff Man, because, again, I don't follow any of the EU crap. Funny how that works.
-
If that's Thrawn (Corran is right, the ISB should have black pants), then the guy on the right may be Thrawn's right hand man, Commander Palleon, instead of Motti...
-
An even better pic, this time courtesy our friends at Yakface:
[Note the white (not blue) hands of White Uniform Guy, the sideburns (almost mutton chops) of Guy To His Immediate Left, and grey hair of Middle Guy (could it be that he's our new old Tarkin after all, and that Fourth-from-the-Left Guy is some other guy's head on Young Tarkin's body?).]
-
It would be sweet if this is our new Tarkin!Just have to wait for tommorow & see.....I hate waiting for CC stuff. :-\
-
Just have to wait for tommorow & see
Uhh...today is Hasbro's Star Wars day...so we'll probably be finding out today.
-

Whether or not Thrawn, you now have me so hoping that's a Paelleon (or however it's spelled) ;D
-

...And he posted that last night, not today.
I agree with everyone, though, that I'm looking forward to what they show.

According to Galactic Hunter (http://www.galactichunter.com/absolutenm/templates/full_article_template_1.asp?articleid=5594&zoneid=2).....
"Deathstar Briefing Battle Pack SIX of officers. Vader, Tarkin, Motti, Tagge, Officer Cass, Chief Bast, General Wolf Yaluran. Exclusive to Previews/Diamond Comics"
-
What time are they revealing, and will they slowly pull off the sheet like a strip tease ;D
-
Very cool indeed, i think hasbro is finally keeping the collectors in mind.
-
Why does no one care that Tarkin's ROTS outfit is different than his ANH outfit? First off the ROTS boots are big and bulky and have some details at the tops, and his pants are baggy, and the figure was sculpted with a texture to the clothes.
In ANH he wore riding type boots (think Han) and his pants were tighter but bulged at the sides (jodpers...not sure of the spelling or right word.) and his unoform was smooth and pressed.
I'll pass on this really lame set.
C'mon, would you buy a Boba Fett that was a repainted Jango?

Thanks for the pic Scott. Man, JD really has the clearest, best pics on the net that I've seen. Good job guys (Jared?).
-
See? Look how odd Tarkin looks compared to the other, accurate, figures.

-
*sigh* Oh ****!
There goes my virginity. :-X
-
Tarkin's face isn't very good (almost looks like the e3 version, is it?) but this is one of the few things Hasbro's shown so far that interests me.
-
I'm bothered by the use of the ROTS body for Tarkin too, Speedermike, but given that Imperial Officers are my favorite figures and that there are 5 other ones in the pack beside Tarkin, I can forgive Hasbro for it.
I'm really into this set, and plan to pick up as many as possible.
-
Tarkin sucks, as expected, but the others MORE than make up for it. I'm sure we'll get a better ANH Tarkin as a basic carded figure anyway. Wow... I'm digging the new officers! Great stuff.
-
I'm gonna try and afford this set, I'm really digging it... Tarkin is a bummer, but the POTF2 version will be fine, for me, while this crappy ROTS Tarkin can just be a filler Officer in the background of my Death Star playset.
A table would be cool, but that's probably out of the question.
-
Tarkin's face isn't very good (almost looks like the e3 version, is it?) but this is one of the few things Hasbro's shown so far that interests me.
It appears to be the ROTS Tarkin face repainted. He isn't all that excitable compared to the rest, but the rest sure do make me want to buy it. Even though I have the Vader and Motti and made my own Yularen, I am so looking forward to picking up this set. Now only if actually came with the table, even a cardboard one would do....
-
I'm hoping that Tarkin is just a Hardcopy and the final version will have a better painted and slightly retooled head. The paint on all of them looks a little thick
-
Is that supposed to be Chief Bast with the sideburns or not? Anyway it's a cool set except for the Tarkin of course.

Where's the conference table!?
-
Is it me, or did Hasbro finally get Vader's height correct here?
-
This set is awesome. One of the best things (if not THE best) revealed at Comic Con.
Can't wait!!!

Why do they all have DC-15s?
-
Why does no one care that Tarkin's ROTS outfit is different than his ANH outfit?
I've already bitched about it several times in this thread, actually.
Two Old Man Tarkins in one year, ten whole years since the last one, and they're both simple repaints of the inaccurate Episode III version. Guess Mr. Foul Stench will have to stay near the top of my Episode IV want list for another ten years.
Funnnnnn. . .
-
I'm actually glad no table or chairs are included. Look at the legs, how would they sit at it?
Also, how are we going to have to order this thing? Isn't it at some certain website? I never ordered the Diamonds Sandcrawler, and I forget where people got it from.
-
Why do they all have DC-15s?
Why do they all have any guns at all?
It's not like they used any in the movie, so who gives a **** if they're the "correct model number" or not?
Jeeeeezus.
-
Tarkin seems an easy fix, buy an extra Jerjerrod and swap heads, yeah the head is still a little off, but at least his clothes, but I'm not sure of the rank badge.
-
Where's the conference table!?
I think Tarkin left it in his other pants :P

I have to agreed with you here. For ****'s sake, there is nit picking and then there is just bitching.

I'm so ******* excited by this...but how hard are Diamond exlcusives to get?

It shouldn't be a big deal if you order early.

I wasn't complaing or bitching, I was just wondering why they have the incorrect gun. I'm not going to dwell on this, after all, I'm not picking this set up, but I was just wondering. No big deal.
-
What do you mean "incorrect" gun. Since none of these guys ever had a weapon in the films, they can come with golf clubs for all I care.
I think it's good that weapons are included. These are toys, not display pieces.
-
Why no Piett? They re-release Motti, which is still a decent scuplt. I would have preferred however if Motti had both arms articulated.
-

Why can't people be happy that they'll be getting 4 guns AND a lightsaber for figures that don't need them?
-
I don't know? Why not just find another trooper figure that might be able to hold the guns? That would be my solution to the "problem". Anyway, I think this is actually the biggest surprise to come out of Comic Con on Hasbro's end. I will definately be getting this. I just hope they make the conference room table as well.
-
I've said a million times before that I'm fine with them having the incorrect guns, I was just wondering why they had them. Jeezus, do I have to write it down?

Why no Piett?

Cool! Love this set! Great choices Hasbro! Instead of Tarkin (ROTS re-pack),Vader (ROTS re-pack),Stormtroopers (Commtech Re-packs), Thank god! ::)
-
Hey lay off on Hunter. He asked a legitimate question. Since there were no DC-15s in ANH, it is a little odd, that's all. ::)
-
This was without a doubt the highlight of Hasbro's showing at Comic Con for me. Despite the up-skirt shots that hinted that this might be a possibility, I thought there was not a shot in hell it'd actually come to fruition. I figured it'd just be an IO Battle Pack, and that was it... But no!
Despite the fact that the Tarkin is the same ****** one from ROTS (why?!), we're still getting FOUR new Imperial Officers in this scene, and that's absolutely mindboggling to me. I always figured we'd eventually get Yularen, but that was about it. So three more in addition to him was icing on the cake! I'm sure we'll get a better Tarkin at some point too, so I'm not too worried about that, and I'm certainly not worried about the inclusion of their guns, inaccurate or not.
The face sculpts on the new IO's was absolutely spot-on down there in the display booth. Granted, the hard copy one-off paint samples usually look significantly better than the finished product, at least these guys are definitely headed in the right direction...
I of course plugged the table/conference room diorama (playset) idea, but they shot it down as quickly as all the other "playset" talk. But they agreed that they could potentially make the cardboard backdrop in the package look like the conference room, so hopefully they follow their own lead from the upcoming 10-pack Galactic Heroes Cinema Scenes, and make it removable, and functional as a base and diorama to display this scene on. But yeah, no articulated knees, as expected (much like most of the Cantina aliens), so chairs would be a moot point to all of us who are too untalented to customize them into seated positions....
But one helluve beautiful set though, no doubt. Made my weekend down there, and bought Hasbro a (small) level of forgiveness for all the re-released rehashed crap that they're going to be chucking at us for the year to come...
-
While this set is cool, I'll pass. Hopefully Hasbro will repack Colonel Yaleran or Officer Cass in the 30AC basic line.
-
Depending on the price, I might go for it. I love Imperials and to get so many big wigs at ones is tempting.
-
This was my favorite announcement too. I think everything has been said already, but I'm simply impressed that Hasbro took the time to make this set and make it decently.
-
Hasbro's best anouncement, but not the best out of all of CC. That would be the 12" Jabba!
-
My favorite Hasbro announcement. I don't really give a **** about the Tarkin- I'm satisfied with the other brand new figures/head scupts to not bitch about him.
guns/types--I don't give a ****-it's just something I can have these guys turn on themseves with in a played out meeting.
Black uniformed officer? Not upset about this either- The ones I can remember off the top of my head were too low ranking to ever be in a conference anyway. If I'm wrong, correct me then- but I'm just too happy we're getting this set period to find complaint over it.
finger gesturing 'finding the lack of faith in the power of the force' effect for vader here is great as well.

I wonder if Hasbro is going to suprise us with the table and chairs with this set? Or what we see is all we get? I like the set and I can't wait until we can order this one.

Also, how are we going to have to order this thing? Isn't it at some certain website? I never ordered the Diamonds Sandcrawler, and I forget where people got it from.
I'm actually quite disappointed that there are no table and chairs. And... looking at the legs, I'm disappointed they don't have the articulation to sit. I could care less about the blasters and although I wish they would have done a quality resculpt on Tarkin, I would easily forgive that if they had made table, chairs, and articulated their lower halves. I mean, we don't see half of these characters do anything else in the movie, but sit at this conference table. It's time we start demanding more articualtion from the action figures Hasbro puts out. I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but instead of 1 joint stiff straight legs, I'd rather the conference table & chairs come with this set and have the figures preposed to sit. We already have a Tarkin, Vader and Motti, which are 3 of figures we see outside of this room, so we wouldn't be losing much. I know, this is not an argument I'll win here with anyone, but this is one scene I'd love to make a diorama of. Guess I'll have to start checking out Niub Niub's making-of section to create the room, table, and chairs - even though the figures won't be able to sit.
-
i think its a cool set but it would have been better if it came with the table and chairs even if they could'nt sit. I mean i would use the chairs and tables for my clones for fan fic photo novel. I'm since i;m getting a new camera for christmas i think it would be alot better if i had the chairs and table to use in my photo novel ;)
-
I think this set is actually pretty boring. 6 Imperials and a Vader? Blah. I have Veers and ROTS Tarkin, and I think I'll have enough Imperial officers once I get Moff J. I really do like that A New Hope Tarkin figure, as well as the white shirt officer. I just think that the other four officers look very similar, and therefore very boring. I'm probably going to buy the Republic Commando Scene Set instead.

I guess that's why Hasbro has such a tough time figuring out what collectors want. See, I see the Republic Command set as boring and just as tired of clone repaints as of the Jedi Starfighter repaints. Maybe next Hasbro can give us stormtroopers in all the colors of the rainbow. They already got me to buy a black stormtrooper that I've never seen in any movie for double the price of a regular figure!

Either they aren't getting it or they're trying really hard to give you a stroke. Title relevance be damned, weapons accuracies be damned, next thing to go will be grammar. ;)
-

If they gave us the table and chairs, they'd also have to give us figures with articulated knees, or else people would bitch.
But there aren't any Imperial officers with working knees that they can repaint (at least not to my knowlege), so then they're looking at having to tool up new molds so these guys can sit down.
So now, Hasbro's looking at new molds for a table, and chairs, and legs, and suddenly, this set has become much more expensive to produce than just simply repainting a few bodies and doing a couple new heads. So guess what happens next?
That's right--people start bitching that they're having to spend a bunch of money on a few boring old Imperial dudes and furniture.
Hasbro's kind of damned if they do, and damned if they don't with this thing.
Either they aren't getting it or they're trying really hard to give you a stroke. Title relevance be damned, weapons accuracies be damned, next thing to go will be grammar. ;)
Nah. . . my heart died out ages ago, rendering a stroke technically impossible.
-
I only want Tarkin. thats it maybe Tagge, Motti and Wulf guy. but mostly Tarkin
-
I think this set is actually pretty boring. 6 Imperials and a Vader? Blah...
Yeah, this set certainly isn't for everyone, and IO's are obviously considered boring my some folks too. Just as re-released core characters aren't for everyone (mostly just the kids and brand new collectors). The entire line is a mixed bag that tries to appease kids, collectors, army builders, and customisers alike. But there's certainly a large contingent of OT fans and purists and long time collectors that have been absolutely itching for this thing, and all of these IO's, to get made for many years (like me). Most of us figured it was a pipe dream, but alas, here it is! So kudos to Hasbro for making it happen, even if half of these guys never even opened their mouth in the movie.
No doubt at all that Hasbro's aware that we'd very much like the table and chairs too, and the corresponding knee articulation, but at the desired price point for this exclusive, it's as good as they could do. Considering we're getting 4 all-new figures (well, the heads anyway) from the OT who were but a blip on the overall screen time, I'm highly excited that this concept/set finally came to fruition, so I'll take it as is, and be pretty dang thrilled about it!
I pushed the playset idea (table/chairs) at them in their booth afterwards, but it was the same answer as usual: NO PLAYSETS. So don't get your hopes up on that one. Definiely a good idea to head over to Frank's site for some customs instructions to polish this scene out properly...
-
Although there are a few shortcomings (ROTS Tarking repaint, no articulated knees) - overall I have to give some credit for this set. I'm pretty excited for it, as boring as it may be, but I never would have imagined we would see something like this in the line. For all the shortcomings and complaints of Hasbro we've had over the years, I'd have to admit there have been several characters/figures that I never would have guessed would see the light of day. This is one of those examples, and I'm looking forward to it.
-
I really like this set too. I'm pretty sure we'll get a decent box too like the Bounty Hunters set.
If the price is right (say $35-40) I'll pick one up.
This is definitely better than the aforementioned Diamonds exclusive.
-
I'm happy to get these guys, too--well, everybody except for the Tarkin--but how cool would it have been to get them as individual figures in the basic line, each with articulated knees and their own chairs for accessories? Then the table could have been released as an exclusive of some kind, or as a mail-in, or in a deluxe set, and with a Vader pack-in, or what have you.
Now that would have been something.
-
Yeah, you definitely need the chairs and table. But really, Owen or Chewie could probably make them for you pretty cheap.
-
But really, Owen or Chewie could probably make them for you pretty cheap.
Yeah, think I'll probably take a pass on that one.
-
Cannot wait to get this set!! Best idea shown by Hasbro at SDCC.
-
Is this going to be on their site anytime soon??? ???
-
i hope i'll be able to get one set
that's some officers i've waiting for for a long time
-
The Imp Officer's pack is really one of my favorites too... I have some unanswered hopes with the set, and I also have a single disappointment (well, two technically I guess) with the set. Overall though I really do enjoy the set to get some of my most wanted Impy Officers ever...
My only gripes are:
-Tarkin... If you're happy with that, you suck. ;) (j/k) But still, you're really not setting your expectations very high out of Hasbro. The ROTS Sculpt is inaccurate in the uniform style first... Completely not true to ANH's Tarkin. Next the headsculpt is a likeness further off than the POTF2 headsculpt, so to that end I'd prefer seeing the POTF2 headsculpt repainted... This figure just does NOT cut the mustard. It's the only "heavily" flawed figure to me though...
-Yularren's Pants... They should be black if we're picking nits here. The ISB uniform isn't all white, that's a miscommunication on someone's part, and I'd really have liked it to have been accurate but it's not a huge deal really to me since I'm just happy to get this guy (I didn't expect him ever, honestly).
My hope for the set is that there's some hat accessories, I'd like that, but I really don't expect it. The figure of Bast in particular needs his kepi hat since he's seen wearing it more than he's seen not wearing it.
I could make a knee joint gripe but if you can't get Officers in the basic line with knee joints you won't get them in a multi-pack with knee joints... Having them able to sit, and come with the table, would've been cool. Completely unexpected, but cool. :)
-
These are going to be going up for Pre-sale on NFC soon.
-
Anton, I noticed this..I thought it was a Diamond exclusive? I guess this means Diamond will offer it up soon too? If NFC is cheaper...how reliable are they to buy from?
--The DS
-
Yeah, it's a Diamond exclusive, meaning that any store that orders from them (via Preiviews magazine) can get them in. They should be available at your local comic shops and also at places like NewForce, EE, StarWarsShop, etc.
It should be at all of the same places that the Sandcrawler or Bounty Hunter 7-Pack were found...
As for ordering from NewForce, well there are a number of existing threads (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=13071.0) that weigh the pros and cons of NewForce vs. EE vs. other places.
-
Thanks Jeff
-
Awesome news, Jeff. I was about to scout the local Comic Shops to see if they carried exclusives in stores. I'll still go to check and make sure, but it's good to know.
-
God, I wish the knees were articulated. A table and chairs would be easy enough to make, but what's the point if the bastards can't sit?
I might have to comission someone to add some joints to these figs....
-
I think this set is being produced to make the customizer happy. Since the legs are not articulated(I'm over it already, I'm glad to have the set made period) it gives something for a good customizer to do. There's alot of 'leg whining' in here. Folks can, however, decide to not buy or buy then hire a customizer for a table, chairs and leg articulation.
-
Yeah, customizing is in tall order for these figures. I've been contemplating ordering a third set, just for that purpose.
-
I need a list of contract customizers then. I'd love to get the set with knees.
I also hope the heads are all on a standard sized head post/ball so that they can get moved around on various other ball joint figures in the saga and 30AC figures.
These guys are a long time coming and some of the best sculptiing on OT heads we have seen of late.
-
Paul (Master phruby) then. He is the best that I personally know . I'd put him on your 'list'. :)

I'm a little confused now...who's going to carry this?
-
I pre-ordered my set from. I have so much stuff pre-ordered on their site. I should just start mailing them my paychecks.
-
I pre-ordered my set from.
From where. ???
-
I'm a little confused now...who's going to carry this?
It's a Diamonds exclusive so most comic book stores including online sites ilke Newforce, BBTS, EntertainmentEarth - pretty much the same guys who carried the Sandcrawler and Bounty Hunter 7 pack.
-
I pre-ordered my set from.
From where. ???
Can't believe i missed that. I ordered it from BBTS. They actually lowered their price on it since I pre-ordered. They e-mailed me to let me know they had lowered the price.
-
I'm not sure how you add knee joints to these guys with the style of pants...you're porbably better off just switching out the legs with another Imperial legs...maybe DSG's legs or ATAT Driver upper with DSG lower...
-
You could use the ROTS#14 Palpatine legs.
-
Just ordered mine from EE. :)
-
These are now up for pre-order at NewForce (http://www.newforcecomics.com)
$29.99 for one ($8 shipping)
$54.99 for two ($10 shipping)
The usual NewForce disclaimer applies... but if you are willing to take the risk, they are substantially cheaper than other places!
-
Wonder why the price difference between this and the commandos?
-
The Rep Commando set is a straight order from Hasbro (as an "Internet" exclusive), while this set is a through Diamond Comics (as a "Previews" exclusive).
Those extra couple of bucks are probably Diamond's cut... ;)
-
By the time I got to order this yesterday at NFC, the buy two option was sold out. ???
-
By the time I got to order this yesterday at NFC, the buy two option was sold out. ???
I just ordered today and the single buy was sold out... I had to order 2, so, I hope someone needs one and wants to split the order.
-
I like all things imperial. I haven't ordered one yet, but I may have to soon. I'm just very disapointed they don't sit. It may be a deal breaker, but old guys to stand next to the troops may be too much to pass up.
-
Just saw this on SWshop.com:
$34.99.
-
I got totally ripped off on my pre-order from EE for $35.99
-
Wow, that picture really shows off Wulff! Great background choice... :P
-
Wow, that picture really shows off Wulff! Great background choice... :P
Not like you really need to see him, anyway--same exact body as everybody besides Tarkin and Motti, just with a different head and a white paint job. . .
(But yeah, not the best of background choices, I agree. . .)
-
Hmmmm. How long does the %25 off free shipping promotion go for?
-
The 25% off, free shipping promo code works until October 9th, but that is at HasbroToyShop and I don't think they have the Imp Officer set (at least not that I can find on their site).
-
D'oh! I get those two web-sites confused. :P
-
Masters of the Darkside Vader? Interesante.
-
this is a great set can't wait to save up for it...but i do think we could've all saved a LITTLE money had they not put that throw-away 1,000,000th vader figure in it. im never buying a vader again unless it is an ultra-premium, SA x 2, removable helmet-included, with pop-in and out heads of actors from all the movies and a palpy mini-holo and a conference table and a lightsaber w/hilt and a soft goods cape that doesn't SUCK and an operation table and a medical droid and a...uhh...and a...few other things I may have overlooked...offered up in the deluxe line shipped in bulk to retailers nationwide for an easy $9.99...my dream vader...if i could get THAT, id throw out every single onwe of my other vaders...ahh...sw figure dreamland bliss... :D

Interesting packaging... I still will probably only buy 1 box (opener) though.
-
Very cool packaging!
The only thing holding me back from ordering this is the lack of articulated knees. This would be a nice set to keep boxed though because of the cool presentation.
There's not much you can do with these guys once you open them (unless you're a customizer, which I most surely am not)!
-
The lack of knee articulation doesn't really bother me since they haven't (and won't) make anything for them to sit on anyway. :-\
-
True, my plan was to contact Owen and comission a table and chairs.
-
The lack of knee articulation doesn't really bother me since they haven't (and won't) make anything for them to sit on anyway. :-\
That's a good point, but I still have not comitted to this set yet for the same reason. That and only 3 of the figures are different enough for me to want them. Is it just the pictures, or are the figures going to look that washed out too? It seems like that dead-caucasian colored plastic, rather than paint.
-
I find some irony in the fact that we're complaining about the lack of knee articulation and that the box drives home the fact that they should have knee articulation. :P
-
(http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/10-06/impofficers.jpg)
Anyone else notice that some of the officers are staring blankly at their chairs wondering why they can't sit down?
-

You've got a point there. I laughed for some reason when I read your post.
-
Another thing I noticed is that all the officers have the slash cut elbow articulation except Motti. Couldn't they have forked out the 6¢ for the new arms to avoid that horrible pivot joint? YUCK!
-

I suppose it may be necessary for the choking pose, but I'm not sure.

So would bendable knees...he was sitting down at the time...
Or maybe has an old injury from his Academy days and had to have a "pin" inserted...bacta can't cure eveything...
-
I'm sure it costs a lot more to insert that throw-away Vader than it does to fix those yucky arms!!! :P but, no...hasbro always has a knack for getting SOMETHING wrong. *SIGH...* ::)
-
Bah these are fine by me. Fit right into the rest of the imperial line.
-
I actually like the way it looks boxed. I kind of go at this with the attitude we are lucky to get these at all if you know what I mean?
-
I'm right there with you. Setting the non-articulated knees aside, Hasbro did a great job on assembling the best available pieces to make the best figures they could for kit-bashes.

Interesting thing in the Q & A answers from the other sites (THANKS MATT)...
When asked about knees on future Cantina Aliens the answer from H was:
"And yes, knees are important for Cantina guys especially when they were seated on screen."
Perhaps the Death Star Conference table is less of a table and more of a Tall "Bar" type thing like one would find at a Hooters...
Do they realize they contradict themselves with every answer?
-
I think you can chalk it up more to poor choice of words. The could have easily said something about the fact that there are bar stools for the cantina figures to sit on, unlike the Imperial officers in that there may be no plans for a table and chairs.
-
I'm just gonna have 'em standing around in a circle on my Vintage Death Star Space Station anyways... except Motti... he'll be on the floor choking....
Oboewan
-
I agree Paul...
Fans getting spanked for $7 a figure should get you some knee joints on even the most unimportant characters, but alas we know how that goes these days. I love the set for what it is, and the price is better than basic figures, but considering it's almost all just re-used molds besides the heads, I think some knees and pliable skirt pieces would've been in order... Hell I think they could've offered removable kepi's with a couple of them (Bast of course, Tagge and Motti I think could've used some, and a black one for Wullf maybe).
Had they done a new poseable leg sculpt, they could've given a pair to Tarkin and had him look a bit more accurate than repainting the ROTS figure.

yes, yes I do, and that makes the QnA's more entertaining than informative. ;D 8)

clicky me for a big ol' image of these Imps
Three things still come to mind:
- I would have liked dark pants on Wulff
- I would have liked hats (where needed)
- I really would have liked knees
I'll still buy it though because they are not that bad...
-
*Look at Motti, and then look at the other guys, and you can really see how much better the likenesses have gotten over the years. That's impressive stuff.
*Yeah, the two guys on the ends would have looked much better with caps
*What's with the goofy, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial-esque pointy fingers on the left hands of Colonel Henrik Wulff Yularen and Tagge? Are those recycled from some other figure that I'm forgetting about, or are they new?
*He's M.I.A. in the photo, but I'm still pissed about Tarkin, and will continue to be until Mr. McFoulstench gets a proper resculpt. (Yes, I'll be pissed for many, many years to come.)
-
I really can't disagree with any of the complaints, but I think the face sculpts on the new figures are just outstanding.
-
That pic there is great! I agree at how much Motti stands out (in a bad way) from the others. Damn, those likenesses are are pretty film-accurate!
-
I really can't disagree with any of the complaints, but I think the face sculpts on the new figures are just outstanding.
yes, im impressed too but i am not buying this set. :-\ :P
-
Everything said pretty much mirrors my thoughts as well...
-Bast and Yularren should come with caps... I can't believe we got Bespin Guards with removable hats but not one Imperial yet actually. The fact Bast is seen with and without though, is why he should have had a removable kepi for the first time, then just re-use the damn thing with other officers in the future. God knows Veers could've used it since his helmet bows outward due to the corner-cutting method Hasbro ran with.
-Yularren's pants bug me too... It's a misconception he's in all white despite seeing some customs like that. Some of his ISB comrades are seen in the halls wearing black jagdpurs and black kepi's so it would've been great if we'd gotten that from Hasbro on this figure, but it's a more minor gripe of mine I think since the figure isn't seen from the waist down.
-Knee articulation on these figures is I think warranted, especially given Hasbro's answer that it's important on Cantina aliens if they were sitting... Well Hasbro, so were all of these dickheads save for Vader, so yeah knees would've been nice (and again, re-useable on future figures, even a Death Star Trooper, so there ya go).
-Tarkin is a whole lot of suck that he didn't get a new headsculpt. Hell, a new head on the same body everyone else is using would've been more acceptable than the ROTS figure repainted. Besides the inaccuracies of the costume itself in the pants and boots, the headsculpt was never meant for old Tarkin so it doesn't look right just repainted. Blah!
Those are just my gripes... Oh and I thnk non-Clone weaponry would've been cool too since Hasbro's Officer pistol has made it into the EU as "official" even, and who doesn't want more E-11's really?
On the positive, the colors look really nice on all figures and I gotta say that these are some of the BEST human likenesses... Hasbro's been getting better at that, or just having a good stretch, because on the current End-boo wave of figures there are some really incredible human likenesses. The black and white Endor Troopers for instance are spot-on IMO, and the Naboo schmuck is one of the best human sculpts for accuracy in a LONG time.
Bast in that set is my favorite. The likeness is outstanding. Tagge's a close runner-up with his trademark Ceasar haircut... Good work on those.
It's a neat way to get some obscure officers, but I think Hasbro could do better given that sets like these are hardly costly to them in the first place. The parts are almost all re-used, so why not throw us a bone with some new legs, that extra new head for Tarkin, and just happen to make it that bit better for the fans? Eh, I guess obscurity satisfaction will just have to be the main positive on these.
-
Not a bad set at all, really. The Tarkin, Motti, and Vader suck, but I'm buying this for the other officers. It looks to me that besides new heads and hands, Hasbro just used the Jerjerrod upper body and used Ozzel's legs.
Motti needed this formula for this set. That POTF2 figure is soooo out of place. It's tall and unarticulated. Yuck.
-
I am with you, I would have preffered a new Motti Head. Its bad enough we get the Tarkin repaint but the Motti is so dated and larger than the other guys. Better than nothing I suppose. Its a shame no imperial officer has bendy knees. The colors look a tad on the green side.
What also bugs me is the voting over at Rebelscum, Hasbro can at least freshen up the colors of the next GH asst. Straight repacks from the 90's just dont cut it. Meet us halfway Hasbro please. Like the real elections, I am not excited about any of the choices up there. The pit droids are the only enticing choice, I have 3 of them already and would like all the varients. Whoever got the sandtroopers up there will already be getting one of them in the upcoming Tantive 5 poop blast pack.
-
Tantive V poop blast
:D
Non-articulated knees is the only thing holding me back from ordering a set. Granted, this set is ten times better than the previous Previews set (the Bounty Hunters) but the shortcuts are still outnumbering the positive attributes.
-
Well, I hate the grainy little ozzel and the way they tried to make it so detailed.
-
Everything said pretty much mirrors my thoughts as well...
Bast in that set is my favorite. The likeness is outstanding. Tagge's a close runner-up with his trademark Ceasar haircut... Good work on those.
yes, the tagge kicks a double s. im not buying this set but will buy just him and wulf yularen loose if possible after the set is out.
-
NFC says they're getting their's in the week of the 17th. ;D
-
Oh and I thnk non-Clone weaponry would've been cool too since Hasbro's Officer pistol has made it into the EU as "official" even, and who doesn't want more E-11's really?
Well, you're in luck - it looks like the final production set now comes with E-11s (http://www.galactichunter.com/absolutenm/templates/full_article_template_1.asp?articleid=6136&zoneid=2) and not the Clone blasters. :)
Too bad they couldn't change Wulff's pants though... :-\

These are now shipping from EE. Got my confirmation today.
-
Too bad they couldn't change Wulff's pants though... :-\
That's what black paint is for.
I know that the standard for customizers on Wullf has been a white tunic with black trousers. In fact when I made my own Wullf Yularen custom I used a Valorum head on a Tarkin body and also made the tunic white and the trousers black. But in the interest of fairness/accuracy, do we actually have any reference photos of the actor in costume to confirm that? We can certainly take it on inference that he's an Imperial Security Bureau officer, and we see other ISB officers in the white tunic and black trousers. But I don't recall any shots of the character where we can completely confirm the colors of the costume.
-
Actually I'd say more people have made Yularren in white on white than white with black pants... It's at best 50/50 anymore but back when the hobby was really in its infancy it seemed most people went with the all white duds... What I think supports the criticism though is Yularen's backstory as an ISB officer and then the backstory of the ISB uniform is the black pants/kepi with a white tunic, and then the backstory of the all white uniform belonging to the Imperial Grand Admirals... Since Hasbro follow the EU enough to flesh out other "unseen" aspects of characters, I think it would've been nice for them to have followed it with this one. To the best of my knowledge I've never seen a shot of Yularen standing on the set though... Not much footage from that sequence was edited out that I'm aware of so not many stills seem to exist from the sequence.
To be honest I find the lack of a removable hat (I'd love a good removable Officer's hat in this line someday from a customizing standpoint) for Bast to be more disappointing than the color of Yularen's pants...
I've actually yet to order this set myself. I need to get on the ball with this soon. ::) Not many in my local group were wanting to do a group order to save shipping because of the set including 3 figures nobody wanted and 4 everyone wanted but were obscure... I'd really like to save where I can on these because of the 3 pack-ins that suck. :-\
-
I think I have a picture (maybe from one of those Decipher Games) of Wulf with Black pants...
I ordered 2 sets, just for the extra ball jointed human heads. I guess we will never get any of the higher ranking Imperial Officers with super-articulation, but I would really like a generic low grade officer with "the works". That would include the Hat/Kepi that Jesse really wants.
-
Just got a notice from EE that it's shipping
-
I think I have a picture (maybe from one of those Decipher Games) of Wulf with Black pants...
You see Wulf walking with a guy (along with the DS droid) past the camera in the scene where stormie-disguised Luke and Han wait for a lift with Chewie. He's definitely wearing black pants.
-
I don't believe that's Wulf specifically... Younger guy, no stache, wearing a kepi. I could be wrong on that though but I don't recall seeing Wulf specifically... May check out my DVD's when I'm back near them though to make sure.
-

I just watch the orignal ANH (I guess that would mean it's simply "Star Wars") a couple weeks ago and I'm pretty sure the guy had a stashe, gray hair and that it was Wulf. Of course it could have just been my excitement of seeing the old films again. we could blame it on old celluloid film from the late 70s. ;) I also noticed an 8th baddie at the Briefing that's not in our pack. He's just glimpsed from the back, but he's bald. Anyone know anything of him?
-
I haven't gotten any shipping notices, but my card was charged a few days ago.

I don't believe that's Wulff, but you're definitely right that he's wearing black pants. It's too bad Hasbro missed that color scheme for the ISB officers, but a little paint will clear that matter up :D
-
I picked up this set today. Very cool. I haven't opened it yet, but I'm looking forward to it. I know that I definitely want to try preserving the packaging insert, as it depicts the conference table reasonably well for a piece of cardboard.
-
NFC says all pre-orders should be processed by Monday. :D
-
I ended up getting a shipping notice on Monday - expecting mine to arrive sometime next week.
-
Mine was shipped from BBTS. ;D
-
Mine will be here on the 25th. ;D
-
Still wish the knees were articulated.... :'(
-
I got a shipping notice from BBTS as well, so it should be here sometime this week. Good timing I guess, since it has been a bit of a dry spell around here at retail for Star Wars, at least until the BARC/Elite Corps trooper wave starts hitting.
-
I actually received mine today in the mail.
I really like the 'new' guys...
all the tarkins were less than great though as the head molds never had the 'extra skin' cleaned up on the heads so they appear like they have ear to ear mohawks ::). Then, Hasbro painted over this :P.
DS
-
Got mine yesterday (Paul if you're reading this it means I have yours too). Even though it needs bending knee joints and a different Tarkin Sculpt, it's a great set.
-
Popped this set open last night. I can't get over how nice the headsculpts came out on the new characters, top notch. Overall, I'm very pleased.
-
I'm scared to open mine - I have a feeling I'll like them better better in the box rather than loose on my shelf.
It's a great looking boxed set.
-
The set actually looks awesome if you take it out of the box but keep the cardboard insert backing. I then removed the plastic piece and set up the figures and they look great in that. I'll try to post a pic or two if possible.
-
Has anyone mentioned or noticed that Motti's Rank is colored differently than his carded release? On one his rank has three red pips, the other has only two red ones.
-
I love the head sculpts on this set. I would have liked a hat or two, but all in all a good set. And this despite the fact that there is no Knee Articulation.
-
That will be for next years rehash :P
-
I got my set lined up from a friend, so I'm now set on these. Yay.
-
The set has hit a hobby shop at a mall i usually go to. (Square one,Ont.) They are selling for $49.99. Im not sure if thats a good price for the set BUT it does look pretty cool. I might buy it, depending on my mood and pocket size the next time i go that is.
-
I can't imagine you couldn't get it cheaper online even if you're in Canada... That seems pricey.
-
Hobby stores tend to jack up the price, we have a store in the city here that is insane. JesseV should remember that store, wouldn't surprise me it was at $89.99.
Legends has the set on preorder for $44.99, a tad cheaper but add the shipping cost. :-\
A no win.
-
if i buy it online i will get screwed over one way or another. But then again at the hobby shop every sunday they have a 25% off all figures sale. So it wont be much but i can save some off of the set. but like i said, it depends on my mood.
-
I got mine at my local comic shop for 39.99,He gives me 5% off everything buy.I've been a customer of his for so long.

Same here but I got it with 20% off because I work there part-time.

Saw it the other day at Suncoast for a wopping $45.99 after holding it my hands now I really do want it. Damn ;) Maybe if I wait they'll clearance it.

They ususally do. ;)
-
Got mine in yesterday from ToynK. I absolutely love the headsculpts on the 4 new Imperials; seriously, these may be among the most accurate (or at least superbly done) human face sculpts. I even put Tarkin's head on a Saga Ozzel body to get a more accurate ANH version. I will need to repaint the face and hair though- he's WAY too pale.
-
Got mine about a month ago and still haven't opened it up, but I'm going to do it this weekend! The packaging on some of this stuff is so good that it almost displays better in the box. Sure is easier to dust that way. :P
-
CorranHorn from FFURG took the packaging and hacked it up some to make it an open display. Really slick looking the way he did that.
I find I'm saving more and more packages lately... Commando package, DSBriefing, Felucia pack... All great stuff to fiddle with on a shelf so you can display it all together.
-
Got mine the other day on eBay for $30 (including shipping). Nice set. Don't know if I wanna open it or not.

If you are still looking to buy this check out newforcecomics.com
http://newforcecomics.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=NFCC&Category_Code=SWP3C
I've bought from them in the past and their stuff is top notch for about as cheap as you can get. They have this for $30 or two for $55...can't beat that price.
I got one to open and left one sealed - I like em both. Was a little dissapointed to see that Motti and Tarkin are essentially rereleases...they could have increased the articulation on these two. Vader is a little crappy as weill compared to the dozens of vader releases, but I was pretty happy with the four new imperials. Just wish they had knee articulation!
-
Not bad prices at all on those... I too was bummed on Motti and Tarkin, but more Tarkin than anything... He's terribly inaccurate and I think a new head on one of the bodies they used for allt he others would've been pretty nice... at least till an all-new figure is made (hopefully) at some point.
As he is though, he's a real stinker... Motti's eh. He looks different to all the others which is distracting to me, and I already had him, but eh he was tough to find for many so I don't mind him too much getting slipped in. It helped people who needed his figure yet.

Thanks for the tip on this, Justin. I've been sitting on my lazy ass for months regarding this set, as well as the Republic Commando set. So I hustled on over to Newforce after catching your post here and grabbed two of each, finally. I barely snuck in there in time, as I apparently grabbed the last of the Death Star double-sets (though they're still available individually). I stuck it in my cart, but when I clicked "Back" a second later to check the shipping quote, the "2-pack" was listed as sold out (the last one was sitting in my cart, apparently). Fortunately, Rick at Newforce told me my order came through just fine, so I guess I'm in good shape. For a change, I don't even have to pay the sales tax on these, as I would've at EE where I was planning on getting them. I guess the shipping offsets that (since EE is 15 minutes away), but the prices at Newforce were obviously way better (saved just over $42 total), so I'm glad I popped in here and caught your post. Thanks for the head's up!
I actually only saw the Death Star Conference room in person for the first time yesterday, coincidentally. Nice looking set, of course, though an OT/better Tarkin would've certainly been a plus. As would a real table and chairs, with articulated knees on the figures, which obviously goes without saying. But with 4 all-new figures in one set, each at less than regular retail prices, how the hell can you go wrong?! Excellent set, and excellent value. I'll probably nab a third set at some point, if I see any for even cheaper later on down the line...
