Watto's Junk Yard / Re: This...This is Stupid
« on: February 26, 2005, 11:55 PM »
I think the situation is kind of ridiculous.  Why the hell are they offering to buy product from people who find it early?  I can understand wanting to get things early in order to offer the images to their readers.  Perhaps they're trying to make up for their half-assed Q&A efforts at Toy Fair?

Fact is that GH has pretty well scooped every other collecting site when it comes to new figure images.  I can say this with some degree of objectivity AND perspective since I've worked as a Star Wars collecting site reporter for the past 4 years or so.  This just looks like RS is trying to play catchup now.

Middle Earth / Re: LOTR Trilogy Figures
« on: February 24, 2005, 12:14 PM »
Saw some cool LOTR at Toy Fair.  The carded figures I saw were:

Gothmog
Mount Doom Frodo
Mount Doom Sam
Electronic Eye of Sauron
Dagger throwing Legolas

And the boxed sets I saw were:

Shelob with Frodo and Sam

Elves of Middle Earth mockup box with:
Prologue Elven Warrior
Coronation Arwen
Council Elrond
Gil Galad
Legolas
Haldir (looks like the Helm's Deep one)

Also, got some awesome news from NECA.  They're 20 or so inch tall Balrog is due out later this year.  AND, it'll be in scale with the Toy Biz line of figures.

Hmmm.  This is the same sculpt that they used for the 2002 Toy Fair Darth Vader, isn't it?

Mid March?  And we haven't seen anything yet?  That's really odd.  I'm hoping it pans out, I really like the anmated figure line.

Expect an announcement next week.

The Photo Center promotion might have something to do with the Darth Vader and Stormtrooper statues that were shown in that Yakface article about WalMart's plans for E3.

Expect 24-32 figures on April 2, which will include a more family event over the entire release weekend.

Walmart Photo Center?

Actually, the news team from The Jawa conducted some Q&A with Hasbro.  Read it here.

Man I should get a fake ID for c3. :P

Think they serve 7&7 there?

Move to Canada, drinking age is 18 or 19, depending on the province. :-*

I used to make beer runs into Quebec when I went to school in northern NY.  We would literally cross the border, make a U-turn to go to the Canadian Duty Free store, buy a case of Molson Brador, and go back to campus.  It took all of half an hour.  A thing of beauty!

Tonight, I'm indulging in Starbucks, and a little later on it'll be a can of Full Throttle.  #*$&ing overnights suck!

Gentle Giant / Re: Bust Ups!

Cool.  Hopefully that's indeed the case...  I don't need any exclusive packaging, so that works just fine for me.  I was just concerned that it might be a slightly different paint scheme, or that there was some random little detail to set this one apart from the regular/chase upcoming version.

It is the same.  Trust me.  I have it right here.  It's the same.

Bon Scott was THE MAN.  IMO, AC/DC went downhill after his death.  Even though they made a fitting tribute to him with Back In Black, they didn't have his attitude anymore.  Only Bon could sing "Big Balls".

In general, many of the figures who wield lightsabers come with multiple hands.  One hand may have a lightsaber molded in, the other may not.  It's something of a new trend for this year.
