Title: TRU STAP w/Battledroid Deluxe
Post by: Jesse James on December 29, 2009, 04:05 PM
Out on the front page you can check out a picture we got of a STAP w/Battledroid (http://www.JediDefender.com) that appears to be exclusive to Toys R Us.  It's being paired with a Speederbike w/Scout Trooper as well.

Expect both sets to be expensive! :)

QFT. I'm excited for a single STAP and BD, but I have to see better pics or look at this in person. From the pic above it looks... ******.

I like the deco, but the droid appears completely CW3D so I'm passing for sure.  Still be nice to have more CW deco STAP's to army build.   :-\  I'll just redeco E1 versions.

YEAH! This is marvelous!

I've never even heard a whisper of this STAP exclusive before...awesome alert! I can't tell from the picture, but I assume this is going to come with updated Paint Apps from the version included with the B'Omarr Monastery BP?

I wonder when TRU will have these up on their website...

Except for all the Separatist markings

And the darker deco I think, and the battledroid being a CW3D figure I think...  but yeah, otherwise identical.  :D  The E1 set was fairly bland.  The CW decoes are much nicer IMO, but the sets are going to be cost-prohibitive I'm afraid.

At first I though this was a movie item. Now that I know it's not, I can skip it.

It's a good crossover from the EPI version to the Blue markings CW version. I may just pick it up for that reason. Kinda of like an "Evolution" of the STAP deco.

Linkie no workie anymore, but is the STAP the same as the B'omarr Monastery (http://www.rebelscum.com/TCWBPBomarrMonastery.asp) BP?

It has the same deco as the Monastery STAP but the base color of the STAP itself is a different color (http://www.jedidefender.com/image.pl?http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/1-08/010Del_TRUSTAPBoxed_Full.jpg) - more like the EI version.

Well apparently this is out now, Galactic Hunter has confirmed. I had heard of the TLC offering being found so I figured this must be out too.

Both our local TRU's restock tomorrow morning so guess who will be there when doors open at 10am. :)

I found these last week.  Way overpriced.

Grr, I wanted one in this paint deco, but I'm not paying $20 for it. This needs to drop to about $12-14. Then I'd buy it.

Rats, I am hunting high and low for this thing to no avail! Our TRU's have not gotten a whiff of them.

I can live with the $20, although it does seem pretty weak.

Anyone know if this has a unique product code/UPC I can check for over the phone?

The $20 price tag is acceptable when you use those $5 off $20 or more coupons!  ;D

I have four that I printed off from a couple of different computers at work saved just for my opener and MIB purchases of this set and the ScoutTrooper/Speederbike set.

Paying $15 + tax isn't anywhere near as bad...

So can you send me a PDF of that coupon?

I picked this set up today (still ringing up at $17.99 each) and I must say I really like the deco on both the STAP and the Battle Droid. The BD has a nice dark brown color with decent weathering and the STAP looks good without the standard blue/gray deco of most of the current CIS vehicles.

I'm still beyond bitter this has yet to show up here. Six trucks have come and gone now since this was spotted nationally and not a 1 has arrived.  >:(

The worst part is that those slack bastages have yet to even add it to their website, so I can't even find a product code I can use to call over the phone and check if they've gotten it in stock yet.

Thanks Jayson, I will use that tomorrow so I don't have to drive all over town again.

Hopefully that is a unique code and not just a generic UPC for the whole Deluxe Vehicle/Fig line.

It's not a generic UPC. It is dedicated to the STAP only.

Well, after exhaustive research and several hours on the phones with TRU locations across VA, I can pretty much confirm that this is not the case.  >:(

When they look that # up in the computer, it shows counts for the whole deluxe vehicle/fig line, not the STAP specifically.

I had several stores say "yes, we have that" only to show up and there are none on the shelf. I've had several others scour the aisles and backroom for the specific item but they are never able to find it, despite showing multiples under that code.

It's really the Item # I am going to need, not the UPC. And since it is STILL not on their website, I guess I am SOL on ever finding this stupid POS.

If anyone stumbles acros this in NC, WVA, DC or Maryland please let me know and I will make the road trip. Thanks!

I still maintain the fact that the listed above is UPC for the STAP only. Looking at my receipt that has three different Deluxe Sets on it (STAP, Biker Scout and Cody), each one has it's own itemized code which is also the UPC. I assume TRU's inventory system considers this as part of the "653569" range of product and tallies a total count versus one particular item.

I'll check my local store for you today to see if I can find an item# for you.

How many TRU's do you have in your area  ???

Well, after exhaustive research and several hours on the phones with TRU locations across VA...

How many TRU's do you have in your area  ???

There are 3 within the general metro area here and about 15-20 total within 100 miles driving distance. The really exhausting part is trying to explain to them what this item is and where to look for it on their own aisles. The first call I made took about 20 minutes (literally) and the subsequent efforts were not much better. That's really the root of my frustration I think, that I have to drive around looking for the thing instead of leveraging technology.

Jayson, thanks for your help...I really do appreciate it. I think you're probably right about how their computer reads the codes, it may be "short-cutting" the process and just looking at the generic assignment.

I found this set today - I really like the deco on the STAP itself. It's also cool that they released the CW version of the darker color/maroon-ish BattleDroid. Of the two TRU exclusive sets, this one is definitely the better one IMHO.

Well, my obsessive compulsive tenacity paid off again...I took a little road trip this morning and I was finally able to snag this as well at one of the outlying TRU's. They must have been fresh off the truck, they had 3 of the STAP as well as the Speeder Bike. (Not digging the "dirty" deco on the Biker Scout) They also rang up at $17.99 as others have noted. Not sure why these are $2 cheaper than the regular sets, but I'm not complaining.

I agree with Pete, I actually like this more than I thought I would. The STAP deco is cool, convincingly distressed, and the battle droid looks a little more bad-ass than the standard issue clowns.
