Title: Muscle cars
Post by: Reconsgt on April 2, 2003, 06:44 PM: Anyone else get into old muscle cars? Seems that definition changes through out the years.
The topic comes to mind as I got my Camaro back. I am so HAPPY. I sold my camaro to my dad when I bought my house but the other day I stopped by and he gave it back to me. Gave it back. That made my day. I have been a little down the last month with other things going on but that really perked me up.
She is a 1970 1/2 Camaro SS-RS 396 car I had since high school. It is nice but needs a restoration. That will be comimbg this summer.

But anyway. Who else gets into the old Detroit muscle. Whats your dream car or whats your own ride?

I have had some nice ones through out the years..

An added question. I have pics but no way to scan or post. Anyone willing to scan and host some pics to share here? LMK

'68, kind of a pale lime green and only a six but I loved that car and would kill to have it again. I paid (sit down) a whopping $2500 for it back in 84. Sold it for $3000. Boy do I regret that. If I could find one for under $10K now, I would buy it.

I like the 67-69 Camaro/Firebird, 64 1/2-68 and 70 Mustangs. I liked the superbee and a couple of other gas guzzling beasts as well. Of course, all are classics now and out of my price range.

Gotta have centerlines on it though.

Oh well.

OR a replica of M Keaton's batman 1 movie batmobile or Clooney's batman4 batmobile. The Kilmer bat3 car was cool but not one I'd like to have ;D

The small back seat, the big wheels the loud engine. It kind of inspired me to get my car now a '96 Mustang. The sad thing is that I couldn't afford the insurance and car payment for a GT so I went with the V6...I still love my car but someday I want to buy an older Mustang and then I'll be riding in style 8)

Post by: JediMAC on May 13, 2003, 04:53 AM: I've gotta bump this thread back up, since my brother-in-law just went out and dropped $50K on a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport Replica (only 5 originals ever made (http://www.grandsportcorvette.com/gs/)). Suped up 406 small block engine with 570 horses. I'm not much of a car guy at all, but this thing is freaking bad-@$$!!! Here's the most similar picture I could find online to what his looks like: '63 Vette GS (http://www.grandsportcorvette.com/gs/gs004.htm)

He's actually replacing his old 1967 Firebird, which he had spent several years completely suping up (only 350 HP on that one). Cars are his life, and apparently this Corvette was his "holy grail" vehicle. Dropped a FAT chunk of change on it, but apparently he's happy as can be about it! Akin to me picking up a Rocket Firing Boba Fett, I suppose... 8)

Post by: dustrho on May 13, 2003, 11:21 AM: I've never owned one, but my best friend used to own a 1970 Chevelle SS with over 400 horses. It was in mint condition, and was a ton of fun driving around. It got about 5 miles to the gallon.

Post by: Reconsgt on May 13, 2003, 01:51 PM: The GS vettes were truly a rare breed. I saw a real one at Elkheart Lake once during the vintgae SCCA meet. Pretty cool. 50 G for a replica really isn't that bad. It would cost many times that to duplicate from scratch.

I've seen pictures of her car before, but that's the first time I've ever seen that burned spot on her car. It actually looks very cool on it.

I love that car!

Got it cheap, and it needs work, but it's sweet and to quote my father, "That SOB flies..." which he was commenting to his friends about it... He opened it up bringing it on back while I was at school a day.

Lots of work ahead, as there's some rust underneath near the ground effects and one patch ont he body on the right rear fender.

Great car though, and I'm finding very few who are keeping up with me. :D

Saw a beauty today while with the kid at the playground. Navy blue, all original Mustang Fastback. Oh so sweet.
