Revenge of the Sith / Re: Hasbro at San Diego Comic-Con 2005

Yeah, I read Adam's Q&A also, and I think your take on it is right.

I really like Adam, and I've followed him for years on the web, but now that he's in "the business"  I hope he doesn't turn into a "I know and can't/won't tell you...he he he" type.

In my guess, if there is going to be a "next 12 ROTS," they will be...

Another Anikin
Another Obi-Wan
Another Vader
Another Padme
Another Palpatine
New Clone 1
New Clone 2
New Clone 3

and maybe 4 "new" characters...

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: 50lbs in 6 weeks. Can I do it?
« on: June 20, 2005, 01:55 PM »
I've fought with my weight for my entire adult life, and I can tell you that 5 lbs a week is way too much. It's fine for a week or two, but after that 2 lbs a week is what you should shoot for.  In fact, groups like Weght Watchers will kick you out if you lose more than 4 lbs a week.

Think of it this way, losing 50 lbs at  2 lbs a week is only 25 weeks.  That's only 6 months.  Dude, you'd be looking slim for the new year, and you'd be healther too!

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Jar Jar Binks
« on: June 13, 2005, 10:48 PM »
Darth Anton, that is the best Jar-Jar observation I have every read.  I've often felt the same thing.

I remember seeing some picture from TPM of Jar-Jar on the Naboo battlefield,  the caption was "Jar-Jar saves the day."  I was like, "huh?  When?"

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: The Prequels that could have been
« on: June 13, 2005, 10:45 PM »
While I agree with most of what has been said, I think that the best thing about Lucas writing and directing Star Wars is that he doesn't belive his own hype.

Any other writer working on the prequels might have approached them with a high-minded pretentiousness that would have been terrible for the flicks. Regardless of what one thinks about the prequels, they are not pretentious. I like that Lucas doesn't take the CONTENT of the films so seriously.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Happy for the "Slow Down"?
« on: June 10, 2005, 04:36 PM »
While I too am looking forward to a slowdown, it's been lots of fun actually finding new stuff on a regular basis.  I am very worried that the "hunt" is going to become pointless again.

In 2003, I didn't find a single figure from January until June (Padme Factory and others).  I certainly don't want things that slow again.  Ever.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: KB 9-pack Exclusive w/ Silver Vader
« on: June 9, 2005, 06:47 PM »
You know what I was thinking?  What if all of the non-Vader figures are random, like the KB four packs during SAGA?

But, yeah, this is a piece of garbage.  I think it would at least be good for kids if it was all major players and a proper Vader.  But as it is, it's nonsense.

I'm glad I broke my completist ways a while ago.  It was the Saga Force Flippers  that did it for me.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: I'm Selling Out!

Hey guys, thanks for the interest.  Yes, the books are available at Barnes and Noble, but not always in stock,

Actually, I have been lucky to make a living doing this.  Because I'm a writer and an illustartor, I can do 2 or 3 books a year.  I also do education illustration work, and I do school visits.  It's a tough business, but I've managed to hang on for almost 10 years now.

My familly knows all about my SW collecting disease, but my in-laws are somewhat clueless.  In our new house, I have very little display room, so there's only a few shelves of stuff in my office/studio.  The thing is, they couldn't tell Darth Vader from Darth Maul.  They few times they've commented on the stuff I say "Oh..I've had it since I was a kid."

My wife totally supports my collecting, and encourages me to find ways  to display more of it, but, in a way, I am nervous about her family seeing walls of stuff.  They're great in-laws, and I couldn't be luckier, but they are very "sensible" and an adult collecting toys might rub them the wrong way.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Can Sith Beat Titanic?
« on: June 6, 2005, 10:48 PM »
TPM did well because it played to a family audience.  I think that's why Madagascar has done well, it's the only kid's film out right now.  I bet if ROTS was PG, it would have still been #1.

There are many, many parents who follow the ratings systems and don't bring little ones to PG-13 flicks.

Ok.  Here I go.  I usually keep a low profile out here, but I'm going to end that.  My real name is Micheal Rex, and I'm a children's book author and illustartor of over 25 books.

Please stop by my site www.michaelrex.com

Anyone with little kids, or who works with children, might find it interesting!

Buy a book for someone you love!

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Any ROTS Screen Scene Ideas Yet?
« on: June 1, 2005, 06:18 PM »
Wait...you guys actually want resculpts?

Personally, after the Evolution sets I don't want any more Palpatines, or Anis or Dookus.  Enough already.

Yeah, I'd like to slow down a bit, but I really would like to know what was coming in the fall.

Saga Collection '06 / Post ROTS-New VOTC
« on: May 31, 2005, 11:50 AM »
I was reading the "Swami" over at another site, and he said that the VOTC will come back next year.  While I'm gald we may be getting some great new sculpts, what I'd really like to see is figures not released by Kenner.

I would love to see a VOTC style Tarkin , on a brand new, old style card.  He was one figure we always dreamed of a kids.  I think that the Sandtrooper, or the Rebel Fleet Trooper would be great additions too.

I'd also love to see some prequel charcters in the mix.  I SA Qui-Gon on a vinatge style card would be lots of fun.

Any comments?
